Show the dock more quickly

how can i make the dock to reappear more rapidly when i activate "automatically hide and show the dock"? any apps?

You can hold cmd-option D to toggle it show/hide. That's about the only trick I know of.

  • Can LR show the numbers in Quick developement panel?

Can LR show the numbers in Quick development panel?
    Any comment?

    >I think that Quick Deve function is useless if you can not see the how >many stops you have adjusted.
When LR first came out I did not "get" the Quick Dev function. Luminous Landscape have an excellent video tutorial for LR by Michael Reichmann and Jeff Schewe.
It explains that the QD function is there to allow you to make quick visual adjustments to images to assist in choosing picks / rejects and generally culling a shoot. Until you have the exposure / contrast / colour balance somewhere near correct, it is difficult to properly evaluate a shot. Using QD like this then makes sense, it's not supposed to duplicate or take the place of the develop module.
Note that the adjustments you make in QD are relative, that is if you select a group of generally underexposed shots and increase the exposure the amount will be relative to each shots original exposure level.

  • Screen sharing - difficult to show the dock

I've had this problem in Mavericks and now again in Yosemite. When screen sharing with another computer whose dock "Automatically" hides and shows the dock, I have a very difficult time positioning the cursor so that a hidden dock will reveal itself. Sometimes an initial waking of the dock works normally but subsequent tries to bring up a hidden dock will take multiple tries, putting the cursor close to the bottom edge of the shared screen, moving the cursor along the bottom edge, etc. It's almost like you have to tickle the area where the dock will appear to get its attention. Sometimes I'll spend minutes trying to get the dock to appear. This happens on a local network so it's not like there is a network delay problem.
    What's going on here?

I have this too. Very irritating. Especially when you are in full screen screen sharing, because when you hover the cursor at the bottom of the screen, the host dock pops up and obscures the dock in the screen sharing window.
Here is a workaround: Press cmd-option-d (d for DOCK).
This will show or hide the dock.
And because you are in screensharing, all shortcuts will be sent to the target system and not to your local machine.

how to optimize web2 in order to open the window more quickly ?

salientgreen is right. But my suggestion is that you'd better first transfer these data to your computer to have a backup and then delete them to free up space.
By the way, you can open Settings and navigate to General > Usage to get an idea of your storage consumption. Music, videos, and photos might be the biggest offender.

  • Automatically hide & show the Dock not working

The Dock keeps getting stuck. When I turn the computer on it works fine. But then after a while, the Dock doesn't automatically show when the cursor is at the foot of the screen. If I click at the foot of the screen the Dock appears.
Also, the magnification isn't working. It magnifies the app closest to where I click at the foot of the screen, but the Dock is then 'frozen' and moving the cursor left & right doesn't have any magnifying effect.
I tried turning off Automatically hide & show the Dock and get no magnification whatsoever.
I don't get any of these problems on my Intel'd MacBookPro - just my 2GHz Dual 3GB RAM Power Mac.

I have exactly the same problem on a G5 and a 20' dualcore, both running Leopard...and also when you drop down the menus from the finder bar the selection doesn't turn blue when you run the cursor over them...but this problem hasn't affected my G4 ibook yet...
I don't think Leopard is as stable yet as we would like it to be but i'm sure these little niggles will be sorted out in due time, Tiger was such a good stable OS and Leopard has a lot to live up too..!
It would be nice to get these things sorted sooner rather than later....!

  • Showing the dock in fullscreen apps.

This is driving me crazy and it appears to just show up randomly after i hover the mouse over it. Anyone else having problems with making the dock appear in full screen?

I had the same problem and this thread helped me. It's not perfect but I hope it helps! It works better on trackpads than it does on mice.

  • Is it possible to show the dock bar only in mission control mode?

    Hi.
I dont wont to have the dock in my workspace. Can I move the dock to mission control an launch apps from there?

You could however maybe trick the Dock by setting the delay rate to some high number, say  one hour.
    In terminal copy and paste:
    defaults write com.apple.Dock autohide-delay -float 3600.00 && killall Dock
To restore the default behavior, enter:
    defaults delete com.apple.Dock autohide-delay && killall Dock

  • Shortcut for showing and hiding the dock

Here is a quick question - is there a keyboard shortcut to quickly hide and show the Dock? This helps when using some applications that force the window beyond the reach of the Dock and place their OK and Cancel buttons beyond that region, forcing me to hide the Dock in System Preferences.

    Option-Command-D
Also see Mac OS X keyboard shortcuts.
You can also configure the Dock to autohide in Dock preferences.

  • Make dock more transparent/translucent?

    hello
is it possible to make the dock less opaque. it's very grey and (because i wanted a mac for so long) i had something called object dock for PC, which basically is there same thing. on this object dock, however, it was possible to make the grey background of the dock more transparent, and i've looked everywhere on my mac (which is new so still don't really know what i'm doing!) and haven't managed to find a way to change it
if anyone can answer my question that'd be great
    thanks
    tom

You can use a third party application called ClearDock which I have used for years with no problems at all.

  • Why is the dock so ugly and can I change its appearance?

Can I change the look of the dock in mountain lion?

You can hide the Dock by going to System Preferences/Dock; choose Automaticlly Hide and Show the Dock, and it will disappear until you want to see it. This is especially useful if you use a portable Mac.
However, if you want a full makeover, try this:

CandyBar http://candybar.en.softonic.com/mac is almost as flashy and attractive.

  • Make Safari thumbnails permanent in the dock?

When I have a Safari window minimized, it appears as a thumbnail on the right side of the Dock.  But when I click on it to make the window appear again on the screen, the thumbnail disappears.  Which means that I can't just use the thumbnails in the Dock to quickly switch back and forth between Safari windows…the only way to maintain this is to manually minimize the Safari window each time I want to switch to another window.  On a Windows PC it's easy…the browser window thumbnails simply stay in the tray at the bottom, allowing you to just click back and forth to activate whichever browser window you want.
Is there a way to force a Mac to emulate this?  Just have all Safari windows appear as thumbnails in the dock no matter which ones are minimized or maximized at any given time?

This how it is done in Yosemite.
I don't have Mountain Lion installed to test.
    System Preferences > Dock
Enable "Minimize windows into application icon".
Click yellow navigational button to minimize  windows into  Safari icon in the Dock.
Once windows are minimized, right click on the Safari icon in the Dock and select the desired window.
Windows will be listed with a diamond icon beside.

  • Not able to rearrange items in the dock...

Just curious. My dock is not sluggish, as some have experienced, but I am a bit miffed that I cannot - as yet - rearrange items in my dock. I can remove them, and I can add them to the right side, but, if I try to place an APP or a folder into the dock/move them around, I get nothing. Any ideas?
    Take a look - http://www.screencast.com/t/JmaseProJ

have you tried dragging the icon lower in the dock, more at the level of the plate.
see if you go down farther whether or not the two icons split. there is a critical point you need to be beyond. it looks like you are close to it though.
if this isn't the problem then i am unsure.

  • I want the Dock to be visible always, rather than having to point or swipe the Dock location to view it.

Same for the tool bar at the top of the screen.

For the dock, Apple menu > System Preferences > Dock > remove checkmark in front of Automatically Hide and Show the Dock.
Re the top of the screen, the Menu bar will be visible unless you change a window to full screen. With Yosemite the green button at top left will trigger full screen, but if you hold the Option key it will enlarge the window to full size without going to full screen.

  • The Dock Not Going Back Down?

"The Dock" as Apple calls it (I'm a new Mac Guy barely switching from Windows).
Anyways... The Dock, where all the applications are on the bottom of my macbook remain there. they wont slide back down out of view. how can i change this? i've been searching and cant find the answer.
    thanks!

You can also use the shortcut Apple has assigned to the "Automatically hide and show the Dock" command: ⌘⌥D (command or "Apple" key, option or alt key, then the letter D).
    Hope this helps.
