"Show Top Sites" panel, the blue box slow to highlight, activate

When I go to the Show Top Sites panel and hover over the Top Sites, the blue box that identifies that the Top Site is "active" is slow to activate -- sometimes 4-5 seconds. My iMac or other MacBooks are almost instand. Thoughts on what might be causing or how to correct? The other MacBooks and the iMac have the same software, are running Lion and Safari 6.0 and are all up-to-date.

Also, insufficient disk space can cause everything to slow down.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. *Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.*

I aggree It's rather annoying that you can't remove these features when like me you never use them, however by far the most annoying part of this is that when you go into 'Customize Toolbar' you can actually add yet a second 'Show Top Sites' feature to the toolbar !! Even those people who actually want to use this feature don't require two of them. For crying-out-loud come on Apple, this has to be a joke right?!?

I just updated to Yosemite, and so I have Safari 8.0... which has the "Show Top Sites" button at the extreme left of the favorites bar. Given I loathe that feature, I tried to remove it but unlike everything else in the favorites bar, it won't go away or move.
I hate "Show Top Sites" as it feels like my browser is spying on me. I know it's just taking from what's already in my History but all the same, I don't see why I should have to put up with it given it's my browser and I should get a say in its behavior. New windows open to a blank page but I would at least like the button in the favorites bar removed, but ideally, the entire feature disabled.
I can disable tabs. Why not top sites?.

Unfortunately, there is no way to disable or remove the Top Sites icon from the Bookmarks bar.

And then when you reply to a post you click the camera button at the top of the post window to attach an image.
From your description it sounds like you are adding an event to iCal and it is syncing (which is what its supposed to do). If you see something in iCal on the Mac and you don't want it there, click on it once and then go to Edit > Delete.
If you still can't delete that event:
1. First make an iCal backup: Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal one at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
2. Go to iCal > Quit iCal
3. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
--- NOTE: To get to "Home > Library" in Lion: Click anywhere on the desktop and then click on the "Go" menu at the top of the computer screen while holding down the "option" key on the keyboard. You will see "Library" in the menu.
4. Launch iCal and test.
If the issue persists:
1. Go to iCal > Quit iCal
2. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:

From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences then select the Appearance tab. Tick the box next to: Display images when the page opens.
If that box is already ticked, from the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset. Relaunch Safari. If you still have problems loading images, go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem. Web pages now include a small icon or 'favicon' which is visible in the address bar and next to bookmarks. These icons take up disk space and slow Safari down. Make sure Safari is not running in Rosetta. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle so it faces down. Where you see Open using Rosetta... make sure that is NOT selected.
If you still have problems, go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop. Relaunch Safari. If it's a successful launch, then that .plist file needs to be moved to the Trash.

Do you mean the App Store app on your iPad ? If you do then it can't be deleted, but you might have hidden it via Settings > General > Restrictions > Installing Apps 'off' - if that is 'off' then turn it back 'on' and the app should show on one of your iPad's home screens again

Custom Search Results web part: show only sites wherein the current user has access

I'm trying to create a custom Search Box and Search Results web part in one of my web application. The search result should show only sites wherein the current user only has an access. Do you have an idea how to implement this? Thanks. :)

From my experience, we can only search the result which we have view permission at least.
Please provide more information about your requirement if there is misunderstanding.

Show Top Sites and webpage at same time - Safari 8, Yosemite

After upgrading to Yosemite and Safari 8 I can't have the Show Top Sites/Reading List sidebar open anymore while I'm surfing the web. Every time I click on the sidebar it go to the Top Sites page. Is there any way to have the sidebar in Safari 8 work like it did in Mavericks where I could keep it open at all times, no matter what page I'm on? I have a 30 inch monitor so screen real estate isn't a problem for me. I'd much rather have all my bookmarks visible to me on the left side of Safari at all times rather than have to click on a folder and open them that way.
I don't want workaround like, "Use the Bookmarks bar." either. I have lots of Bookmarks and many of them are better suited in a folder and the Bookmarks bar hides items in folders, this the problem I am trying to solve.

I have figured out how to do this. I was clicking on the Show Top Sites button located in the Favorites Bar (called the Bookmarks Bar by me earlier) but there's a separate Sidebar button located next to the Back/Forward buttons.

Safari 'Show Top Sites' Image Glitch

Whenever I click on 'Show Top Sites' in Safari, after having numerous images open in Preview,
and after quitting Preview, I see a momentary glimpse of all the images that were previoulsy open
in Preview populate the thumbnails in Top Sites.
Has anyone else experienced this?

There is no option available in the preferences settings to remove TopSites from the Favorites bar.

Could you please specify how exactly have you created your form.
You might need to have Acrobat installed on your computer to convert a word document to PDF.
Do you have Acrobat installed? If yes, what version? If no, then please try using the trial version of Acrobat DC (latest version) and access its features:

Also, let me know what kind of blue boxes are you talking about.
If you want others to edit your PDF form, then you need to make it a fillable form by choosing 'Form Editing' option from Tools pane.

Under Tools, Options, Security; how do I add a site to the "exception" box to prevent a password from being saved?

I would like to add a site to the "exceptions" box under "tools", "options", "security". This is to prevent the computer from saving a password for that site.

Some sites (like and others) like PayPal, Yahoo, Windows Live and bank sites use ''autocomplete="off"'' to prevent Firefox from saving the name and the password.
If a site uses ''autocomplete="off"'' then look at this article for a bookmarklet to remove that autocomplete attribute.

Access the MOSS 2007 site outside the VM box

hi all,
I am having a VM where MOSS 2007 is installed and i had restored a .bak file to a new site collection. so, its perormed successfully. Now the issue i am facing is,i am not able to access this site from outside
the VM box.i am able to remote desktop to this VM from my desktop and its configured in my company's domain network.
mydomain\myusername is the farm admin/login id..
so when try to acces the url from my desktop, am getting "page can't be displayed".
so would like to know if there is any settings i need to make in order to access the site outside the VM box.

I thinks the file on the root directory of a SharePoint site is unable to be set with a unique permission, SharePoint securable object are web, list/library, list/library iteml, as what you're going to do, the workaround is
to put the file in a libary and grant the unique permission.

TS3899 I am receiving incoming emails on my iphone5, but my replies sit in the out box for days. I have checked the IP address, etc and that all seems to be correct. Any suggestions please?

I recently purchased an iphone 5.
All the settings have been copied over from my MacPro and all seems to be working fine EXCEPT for out going emails.
Emails come in even when I am out at work, but can I reply - NO - replies sit in the out box for days and then suddenly disappear. I have check all the settings and they seems fine. I have tried turning off the wireless and turning it back on. Some time that works.
Why am unable to send emails even when I am at home near my router?
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

OK, that at least means that you won't have to start from scratch again;-)
You could try to re-install only the SyncServices.framework framework since that seems to be broken or corrupt - using Pacifist, you can re-install only parts of the original system from your original disks.
Another approach would be to re-install the latest system update - this is probably the easier solution and might already be enough:
