Show volume size in Lion?

Show volume size in Lion? Snow Leopard showed the amount of space available on mounted volumes in the Finder. I can't find how to do that in Lion. Get Info works, but I'd like to see available space when I open a drive or volume/

In an active Finder window select Show Status Bsr from the View menu.

    When I send an email via MACMAIL  with a photo from snow leopard to  an email of a lion user using At & T , the photo shows up in the Lion user email sideways. When they email it back it returns to correct position. Is there something in Lion causing this? This also happens when in in using iphoto'11 i share/email a photo to myself and the phot shows up sideways but is in a correct position prior to emailing.

    I recently tried sending myself an email through Thunderbird to another email account to see if that was the case, but the email came in with a font so tiny that it was unreadable. I had chosen a font type and size (arial 10) and just coming into my outlook inbox was virtually unreadable.
    And referring to the person I work with, she doesn't have problems getting anyone else's emails, just ones I send from Thunderbird.

  • Volume size information wrong

    I think I found a concerning problem freeing large spare files.
    After creating and removing a handful of sparse 200GB files (VirtualBox volumes), Finder is quite wrongly showing:
    Capacity: 499.42
    Available: 655.65
    statfs is showing something more sane:
    Filesystem     Size   Used  Avail Capacity  iused    ifree %iused  Mounted on
    /dev/disk0s2  465Gi  223Gi  242Gi    48% 58462482 63465747   48%   /
    inode counts seem to add up too.
    neither fsck nor Disk Utilities are showing any problems with this volume. Obviously, a free count is badly wrong somewhere (does Mac OS use unmap on SSD volumes?)
    So while the spare files existed, the Finder information was sane, showing a disk usage reflecting the actual allocation size (not spare file size). Upon deleting the files, the available count surpased the total volume size. I think somewhere between HFS+, SATA unmap and the SSD itself there's a potentially bad problem. My fear is at some point, used blocks are going to wrongly show up mapped into what the filesystem thinks is free space.
    Had anyone else seen this?
    I'll be restoring from Time Capsule as soon as I can.

  • Volume size not real!!! where is my space?

    Hi,
    I have an Xserve connected to Xserve Raid, one of the volumes in the Rad is used exclusively for my users home folders, the physical size of that volume is 450 GB, the get info reports: capacity 549.88 GB, Used: 538.45 GB Available: 11.42 GB. when I go inside this volume I know for fact that all the home directories together are only 38 GB! what happened to the other space? is there hidden files which takes over 400GB? using the Admin Server tool it also shows the RED BARR (almost full). Any help would be appreciated.
    Kind regards
    JM

    How are you checking the size of the user's homes?
    If you are using any account in the Finder other than root you will not be able to accurately see the size of a user's home. Get Info will not read folders you do not have full access to.
    You would need to log in as root to have the Finder's Get Info command show accurate sizes.
    To see if there are any invisible files or folders you can use Terminal, again as the root user, and run ls -l.

  • SAPdb volume sizes

    Hi,
                I have 7.3.0.53 SAPdb installed in a sandbox environment and have been playing around trying to do a few different things.
    1)I'd like to change either or both the data and log volume sizes.
    a. I’d like to be able to shrink a log down from, say 10gig to 1 gig.
    b.Also can I increase individual data file sizes (as well as decrease) versus adding more or is it stuck with its original configured values.
    2)The TEST db I’m playing with has 10 named volumes, 2 look like they’re being used.  If those 2 fill up will it automatically create a 3rd, or do I need to do that before it fills up?
    3)       We’ve got a development db that is at 66% currently using 5 of the 10 volumes.  If I have to add volumes manually when is a good time to do so?  75%? 90%? I know it’ll probably depend on how fast it’s filling up, but is there a good rule of thumb to follow?
    Thanks for your time.

    Hi Krishna,
    I have no idea about 7.3.0.53 SAPdb, but i use MaxDB and i explain the same using MaxDB,
    1. MaxDB provides a Database Manager GUI utility using which you can perform this. After connectiong to the server chooos e the instance and in the menu
    <b>Instance -> Configuration -> Volumes</b> Now choose the data or log volume and then in the menu <b>Action -> Properties</b> Now perfrom your modifications here.
    2. Yes it is possible to  make you database add new volumes automatically by using AUTO EXTEND functionality.
    You can achieve this using
    <b> auto_extend <mode> [<percentage>]</b>
    mode : On, Off, show
    percentage: This is your threshold (90 is default)
    For example auto_extend on [75]
    when ever your volumes size crosses 75% a new volume will be added automatically.
    3. Hope the point 2 will do the trick, and you need not worry about it.
    Hope this was helpful.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kathirvel

  • My computer has some serious problems, my iphoto only shows thumb size pics when I try to open them, i tried to rebuild my files from folders that had the pics in them. originally all the photos has a large delta with a question mark. also I can't back up

    my computer has some serious problems, my iphoto only shows  only shows thumb size pics when I try to open them, i tried to rebuild my files from folders that had the pics in them. originally all the photos had a large delta with a question mark. also I can't back up the library file because its not there. I went to time machune and tried to find the file but I can't find it or I am looking in the wrong place. I also lost my Idvd file, only have broken chain showing.

    Details please
    What version of iPhoto and of the OS?
    i tried to rebuild my files from folders that had the pics in them.
    Exactly what did you do and how did you do it? this ay be the cause of your issue but without details we can n=ony guess
    my iphoto only shows  only shows thumb size pics when I try to open them,
    where do you see htis? In the iPhoto window? what does "try to pen them" exactly mean?
    originally all the photos had a large delta with a question mark.
    Ok - this usually has a simple solution - do you still have a copy of the library that has this problem?
    also I can't back up the library file because its not there.
    This makes no sense at all - all of your previous statements indicate that you do have an iPhoto library but have some problems with it
    By default your iPHoto library is located in your Pictures folder and is named iPhtoo library - if tha tis not the case the you have moved or renamed it and only you know what you did until you tell us the details
    I went to time machune and tried to find the file but I can't find it or I am looking in the wrong place.
    Again unless you actually share what and how you are doing thing but continue to simply state abstract problems it is no possible to assist you - details on using Time Machine are here  --  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US   --     and   --    http://pondini.org/TM/FAQ.html   ---
    I also lost my Idvd file, only have broken chain showing.
    This would be better addressed in the iDVD forum - but again unlesss yu share detailed information no one can assist

  • Can't download files, shows file size is "-1bytes"

    Hello, recently when I try to download files they do not start up immediately like they used to, and when they do it shows the file size of the file is "-1bytes". But, when I use a download manager to download it, it downloads just fine.
    This isn't just 1 website in particular it happens for all the websites. I tried uninstalling FireFox, and installing it again and I still can't download anything.
    Example:
    [http://i44.tinypic.com/6nqjbd.png ScreenShot] of the download, when I try to download FireFox.

    That may be a bug. Firefox shows a size of -1 if the size is unknown instead of suppressing the file size.<br />
    You can ignore that if the file down;loads fine.

    The box in my Photoshop Elements, which shows the size and type of brushes, has shrunk to one unreadable line. How can I expand this box to its original size? I have tried dragging it open but nothing happens and none of the tool boxes appear to give me an expansion option

    Well, when you open the program, the splash screen, the window you see while the program is opening, should make that clear enough. For example:

  • Scroll bar not showing relative size correctly

    I'm not sure of the correct terminology so please bear with me. In CS4 when I zoomed in on an image, the bar at the bottom would show the size of the image now on screen relative to the full size. i.e. if I go from 50% to 100% the bar would be half the size indicating that I am only seeing half the image. At least I think that was the case in CS4.
    Here's and example from CS6.
    Open an image, choose "Command-0" to make it fill the window, and the percentage is 48.16%. The bar at the bottom is not there, but if it was I assume it would fill the width of the window.
    I select "Command-+" to zoom in, and the percentage goes to 50%. The bar now fills about 30% of the window width indicating that I have zoomed in a whole lot, but I haven't. There is only a little bit of image on either side not visible, the rest is a huge grey area extending left right, and up and down.
    How do I make the bar indicate the true amount of zoom, and how do I get rid of that grey area?

    Yes, it's working as designed.
    There's a feature called "overscrolling" which allows you to scroll past the edge of the document, and it's only available when the document is larger than the displayable area.  You'll see it work if you zoom an image to be *just* larger than your space and use the (what seems like too-short) scroll bar.
    This inconsistency, between when the document will all fit in the displayable area, and when it exceeds the space, is the real root of the problem.
    People have complained about this for a long time, and Adobe doesn't listen.  Thing is, some folks would like to be able to scoll or pan to offset an image that DOES all fit so as to be able to comfortably sketch on the edge - or for whatever reason.  That would make it more consistent.
    Here's a reproduction of the problem, and scroll of the image that's slightly bigger than the window to illustrate:
    Here the image all fits - no scroll bars:
    Here the image has been zoomed in a little more - the scroll bars have appeared and are about 1/3 the size of the image:
    Here the image has been scrolled almost to the limit of the horizontal scroll bar:
    It's working as designed. That doesn't mean the design is right,

  • Show file size coming from UCM

    I need to show the size of a file that comes from Oracle UCM and the file size should be shown in Kilobytes, the file size is in bytes so I've divided in 1024 for the number in kilobytes
    I have the following source code and the continuous result being shown in bytes.
    Please if you can give me your comments.
    thank you very much
    <c:set var="nodeArchivo" value="#{cmfn:getNodeById(cptutils.repository[node.propertyMap['BCCH_PUBLICACION_RD:ARCHIVO'].value.stringValue])}"/>
    <c:set var="fileKB" value="#{nodeArchivo.propertyMap['VaultFileSize'].value}" />
                <fmt:parseNumber var="fileKBTransf" type="number" value="${fileKB}" />
                <fmt:parseNumber var="fileKBTransf" integerOnly="true" type="number" value="${fileKB/1024}" />
      <af:outputText id="archDown" styleClass="pesoArchivo" value="#{fileKBTransf}"/>

    Hi.
    You are mixing '$' and '#' expressions that are evaluated in different phases of the lifecycle.
    #{fileKBTransf} is evaluates before of the ${fileKB/1024}
    Take care when mixing JSTL and ADF and $ and # expressions .
    Anyway try to do it directly:
    <af:outputText id="archDown" styleClass="pesoArchivo" value="#{cmfn:getNodeById(cptutils.repository[node.propertyMap['BCCH_PUBLICACION_RD:ARCHIVO'].value.stringValue]) div 1024}"/>
    or
    <af:outputText id="archDown" styleClass="pesoArchivo" value="#{cmfn:getNodeById(cptutils.repository[node.propertyMap['BCCH_PUBLICACION_RD:ARCHIVO'].value.stringValue]) / 1024}"/>
    Regards.

    The Apple app store doesn't show Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 as purchased and will resell it to me. I bought this computer (early 2011 macbook pro 17 in) new in oct 2011 it came with Lion installed has anyone else noticed this?

    Barney,I did as you suggested and emailed app store support qutioning why the app store didn't recognize my OS LION software as purchased even though all of the iLife apps that came bundled with it are recognized as PURCHASED and here was the email response from robert@ the app store....< I understand that you are trying to re-install the OS X Lion as you had a Hard Drive crash but it is not showing as purchased from your Mac App Store purchase pane.
    As the Mac OS X Lion was pre-installed to your computer , it will not be recognized as purchased in the Mac App Store, and because of that it is not available fro re-download for free. Also, computers that come preinstalled with Lion do not ship with the disk.
    Dana, not worry as OS X Lion has a self recovery feature.

  • Can I add/show a size column for smart folders?

    I've created a set of smart folders to filter the files on my system by size (e.g. <10megs, 10-499megs, 500-999megs and >1Gig.
    What I'd like to do is sort the files by size, so having the folder show a size column would be great... however it doesn't seem to be possible (or the how is not publicized). It just shows name, kind and last opened. If I change the view to ICON, I can get the size for some files, but others, like movies or music, show their duration, not size.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    If you want to report this to Apple, send a bug report (or enhancement request) via its Bug Reporter system. Join the Apple Developer Connection (ADC)—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that.
