Showing additional EXIF data

I need to be able to see additional EXIF data from my camera, such as Sharpness, Contrast, Noise Reduction, Saturation.
The reason for this is so I can evaluate the camera's JPG's engine and learn what settings to use.
Can LR3 be made to show any of this information?
The cameras are: Nikon DSLRs and Olympus E-PL1.  I am sure I will need to do this with other cameras in the future.

I don't think you can see this information in Lightroom.
The reason for this is so I can evaluate the camera's JPG's engine and learn what settings to use.
I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to accomplish by "evaluat[ing] the camer's JPG's engine", but there have been many threads here about getting RAW to look like JPG, and the usual conclusion that I come to is that this isn't a good use of your time, and is likely to be a very frustrating and unrewarding thing to do.

  • Lr Showing More EXIF Data ?

    Hi,
I need to know if a lens' VR (Nikon's Vibration Reduction system) was on or off for my photographs. Lr 3.2 does not show this, even though the information is stored in the EXIF data (EXIFTool shows it - and much much more). Any plug-in that will let me add this ?
Jeffrey’s “Metadata-Viewer Preset Editor” lets me pick some more EXIF and IPTC fields for Lr to show, but not these ones.

  • Exports aren't showing the EXIF Data

I just started shooting in RAW and today I exported some pictures to post on DPReview.  The pictures did not include the EXIF data and I would like to include that information.  Is there a setting I need to select prior to export so this data will be included?  Thank you!

Use the setting in the export dialog.
You can choose from the dropdown menu e.g. copyright only or all metadata.
Also ensure DPreview is not stripping out metadata when you upload files.

  • Does PSE11 show HDR exif data for a Canon 5D Mark III?

I have taken some pictures with the HDR feature on my Canon 5D Mark III. The HDR image that the camera creates does not show that it was created using the camera's HDR feature when viewed with PSE11. The Canon Software that came with my camera is ImageBrowserEX 1.4.0 and it shows these data: HDR Shooting Enable, Adjust dynamic range +-2, HDR Effect Natural, Auto Image Align Enable. Is there a way to show the HDR exif in PSE11? Thanks, Anne

Thanks -- I should have mentioned in my original question that I had already looked at File>Info. The usual stuff is there but nothing about the image being created from the HDR camera function, or at least that I could see. I went through all the tabs including Advanced and just don't see it. I will try to figure out how to ask Adobe Technical Support and how to request that they get that info included if it's not there. Anne

  • Will empty exif presets overwrite existing exif data (like captions) with blanks

I want to import from existing files and keep whatever exif data is already there (like captions), while during the import (or after) I want to apply ADDITIONAL exif data (like author, location). If I leave the existing fields empty in the metadata presets, will the original exif data be safe? In other words, can i just append metadata without affecting the original values?
    DJ

In the Edit Metadata Preset dialog (where you would name and save a metadata preset FROM), there are checkboxes down the right side, next to each metadata field.
Any field without a checkbox next to it, will be left alone when the preset is applied to future images, regardless whether there is something typed into the preset or not, and regardless whether that field on the image starts out empty or not.
This is the same idea, as with Develop presets: the preset has a defined scope. It only affects the aspects that you say it should.
Typing something new into an empty box, does automatically put a check next to that.  So that will get applied to the image.
Editing out what is in a box, still leaves that field checked. Alternatively, you can put a check next to an empty box: same result. As a warning, that field's name turns red and the box shows a prompt telling you that if applied to an image, this empty field will still be imposed onto the image - deleting whatever might have been there before.
In order to prevent this happening, assuming you didn't positively want that field cleared, you would need to un-check the box next to that field (and then if editing a previously saved preset, update that to incorporate the change).

  • What are the forensic limitations of Metadata & Exif Data+ Adobe Photoshop 3 question; e.g. Metadata

    I have some questions regarding metadata, and exif data on digital   cameras and its forensic limitations in Adobe photoshop 3;
For  instance; After a picture is taken and has a metadata/exif digital   stamp of the "picture being taken day" under what circumstances can  that  "picture being taken day" be changed?
Does the picture  being taken day change when you import it into adobe  photoshop 3 and  add a caption?
Does it change only when the picture is edited,  to perhaps add a white  sidebar that says "family photo" or whatever?
Under what circumstances does the exif/metadata digital time stamp  of  the "picture being taken day" change?
Also, is it possible  to change the picture being taken day on a  photograph in adobe  photoshop 3 manually?
    Thanks-
    Phil

I guess it would be easier to give you an example. The above picture shows the exif data as 9.11.2001. How is this possible if this is a 911 victim? In the top metadata, it says Adobe photoshop 3. I assume this is the program it was last edited in? Or was adobe software used exclusively in cameras back then perhaps? I am not sure, I just know I have many questions I really want answers to. Was the exif data changed perhaps in the above photo on 9.11.2001 to add that white sidebar, which says (Family photo) ?? Click the image below to see the screenshot of what I am looking at, this way we are on the same page or picture so to  speak.
Any help you can give will be greatly appreciatted...
    Thanks,
    Phil

  • This is how to add extra Exif data to Aperture :-)

    Folks
Often I need additional Exif data in Aperture - which is not available in the standard install.
For example - exactly which lens did I use - not just a focal lenght - which might be any one of various lenses I have.
Or - which focus point was used?
    The list is endless...
If you are interested - go to this thread in dpreview

A neat combination of an AppleScript and ExifTool
    Go for it
    Brian

    Hi,
I'm the "author", if you can call it that, since most of the script is, as someone earlier mentioned, Brett Gross' work. I was the one that glued exiftool to it and got it working with my Aperture setup. I am looking at the various problems that have popped up on dpreview and with personal correspondence and trying to find solutions.
But it isn't easy. As Charles said, the Aperture dictionary isn't helpful in that regard. And with the flexibility that Aperture provides in naming is the curse here. And all the variables with versions, external edits, etc. It gets very complicated. But if you look at the thread on dpreview, someone has possibly found a way to query the SQL database to make it all work smoothly.
It is very easy to do this stuff at import. I am just putting the finishing touches on an Automator action to import the files and add the EXIF data (it will even query GeoNames and add the city, state & country IPTC data if there is GPS data present in the file).

  • Photo gallery show the exif information

    Hi
Is it possible to show any information in every photos i upload to iWEB when people click on my photos.
    Thanks
    kpo

The only situation I've found with any of the iLife apps to show the exif data online is with an iPhoto MobileMe gallery. When you click on a photo and bring up that photos larger version there's an "i" button at the bottom which will bring up an info panel for the photo. It's the same extended info pane that you have in iPhoto except for location.
There are some themes/skins for Jalbum that will display all of the EXIF data next to the photo. You can add the jalbum flash slideshow to an iWeb page with iFrame code and the HTML snippet. This demo page has a jalbum flash slideshow: Jalbum demo.

  • Sony A6000 DRO: is it possible to view Dynamic Range Optimization EXIF data in Lightroom?

The Sony A6000 has a feature called Dynamic Range Optimization.  You can set this to DRO Auto or set manual DRO levels (1-2-3-4-5).  This setting is recorded in the Metadata (EXIF) by the camera.  The Sony IDC software can see it - but LR5 does not. (LR supports the A6000.)  I assume Sony does something non-standard here, but it there any possibility of LR showing this EXIF data?  It is very handy for sorting through the photos (especially when you use DRO bracketing where the camera creates three JPGs with different DRO settings - either 1-2-3 or 1-3-5).
    David

    Hi Quinn.
I'm not sure if this will help, but here's a snapshot of the table I'd like to use as source for a pop-up. It's part of a Sheet called "Rolling Rota", and whilst you can see each cell is presently a pop-up, it needn't be. I'd be happy to use this range of cells to set the staff names which then feed a range of pop-ups (in defined cells) when I run a script.
Once again, any help would be appreciated.

  • EXIF data shown / not shown. How come?

    Hello,
if I store a photo (taken with a digital camera) on the internal hard disk of my MacBook Pro, select it in the Finder an press CMD-I, to show the file informations, then under 'More Info", the EXIF data is shown.
If I copy this picture to my NAS drive (a Synology, running DSM 3.2) and do the same, the "More Info" field is empty.
If I copy the file back to the internal drive, do the same again, the "More Info" field shows the EXIF data again.
    Why?
And is there a solution for this?
    Kind regards
    emeu1

  • When I attempt to apply a lens profile in the Develop module the only choices are for the Fujifilm X100/S/T even though in the Library module the EXIF data correctly shows the camera as the X-T1 and the precise lens used to take the picture. How do I get

When I attempt to apply a lens profile in the Develop module the only choices are for the Fujifilm X100/S/T even though in the Library module the EXIF data correctly shows the camera as the X-T1 and the precise lens used to take the picture. How do I get the right profile available?

First, the required profile needs to be present. LR 5.4 supports the X-T1 in terms of understanding its Raw format, but will not come with a profile for every lens which can be mounted onto that.
A profile is made for each specific lens, as mounted on a certain camera. It can also be used with pictures taken on a different (reasonably similar) camera body than the one originally used during profiling. This is subject to the sensor format: you can employ a given lens profile made for full frame, on an image from a crop sensor behind the same lens - but not vice versa.
Next, the image type needs to correspond to the image type which has been built into the profile: Raw, or non-Raw.
Lightroom offers only profiles of the right type for the image(s) concerned. There are many more provided for correcting camera Raw, than for correcting camera JPG. That is also the case with additional profiles, e.g. those accessed via the Adobe lens profile downloader utility.
Finally, in the event that there simply is no profile out there for a given lens, it is not particularly difficult (though a little tedious) for the end user to generate one, using a further Adobe utility which is downloadable as a package, including a range of checkerboard calibration targets, each of which needs to be printed at a stated physical size.

  • Exif Data Not Showing Up in Web Gallery?!

Some of my exif data is missing from my web gallery! f-stop, shutter speed missing.. check it out:
    http://gallery.mac.com/johnnymcclung

Actually it is showing "max aperture" but not the actual aperture I shot at - I now can see shutter speed... but the aperture I used for the shots aren't showing up - either way, I had fun shooting the eclipse last night!

  • EXIF Data not showing up

I have a new iMac and I am trying to consolidate close to 40,000 photos into iPhoto. Initially everything was fine, but while importing a larger batch, the program locked up overnight. I had to force quit iPhoto. Of course this screwed up the library file, and after searching on these forums and others, I was able to recover everything by repairing thumbnails, repairing the database, etc.
However, now the exif data is no longer showing up in the info. pane (see below). I can only see the image size, file size, file type, and date - all of which appear to be correct. However, I no longer see the camera type, aperture, speed, ISO, etc. I have tried repairing everything again, to no avail. I have checked the exif data through the Finder and Preview. Some of it appears to be there (camera type), but not other things like aperture, speed, etc. I have imported new files after all of this mess and all the data shows up, no problem.
Any suggestions on what is happening/happened? I thought I would check here before trying to rebuild the library, or having to delete the Library and reimporting everything.

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Show additional data in trasaction F-43

How can i in transaction  F-43 show additional data (vendor VAT numbers and bank account)

    Hi
You can't do it by std SAP.
You should change the std program SAPMF05A, but those modifications would have impacts with all transactions to create FI document, so I don't believe it's good idea.
If only it needs to show the additional data, I'll do nothing.
If it needs to fill additional fill, you should consider some BTE.
If it needs to insert (and show) additional data, you should consider to change std program but only if it is closely necessary.

  • .mov exif data problem - Time is off by hours

I have the same problem that SD_Christina posted 2010:
"I import my photos and videos taken on my iPhone using "Image Capture", then I sort them using Adobe Bridge CS5.
When I take a video (.mov file), the exif data shows the "Date Created" at 7 hours ahead of "Date File Modified". (ie: Date Created: 7pm, Date File Modified: 12pm)
The problem is - the correct time (that the quicktime movie was taken) is the "Date File Modified" time. So, if I should choose to rename that file...of course the "Date File Modified" time is changed.
Additionally, if I choose to rename all of my files (which I do) using the Date Created - the movies can be given the incorrect name. While sometimes this is not a problem (after all....12pm and 7pm ARE in the same day) if I create a video after 6pm, the "Date Created" ends up in tomorrow....follow?
Just about everything I've found on the internet says that videos don't have exif data....which is just silly....cause I'm looking at it and sorting my files by it...so....something is there!
On the other hand, if I could just CHANGE the exif data...I'd even be willing to do that...but I can't seem to find a MAC based exif changer for .mov files. "
With my iPhone 5 (iOS 7.1.2) the JPG times are always OK. But SOME MOV files have it +3hours off in my timezone.
I rename my JPGs and MOVs via Graphic Converter as YYYY-MMDD-hhmm-ss.mov according to their EXIF. Usually this works OK but I have to watch out those random MOV files that are +3hours off and rename them based on their creation date which is correct (that time might be the start/end of the clip while EXIF is the opposite but I digress...).
I have not yet seen any pattern or workflow that might cause the MOV EXIF to be incorrect. Anyone?
And is there a tool that can edit the EXIF and location data in MOV files? Graphic Converter can edit those only in JPGs. (The location data is sometimes incorrect in MOVs taken with my iPad mini whch lacks GPS and obviously didn't get correct location via the tethered iPhone -- I guess I should try to enable Bluetooth in both devices because that seems to give the location to the iPad(?).

    Hi,
I'm having a similar problem, which I've been able to easily reproduce. It may be related, but I don't have a fix for it.
I live in Oslo, and just got back from a trip to Mumbai (which is 4.5 hours ahead of Oslo time). When I arrived in Mumbai, I used the Time Zone function on the phone to set the local time. When I got home, I imported photos and video into iPhoto and found that the photos I took on my phone in Mumbai showed the correct time and date, but the videos I took on the trip had a creation date listed in iPhoto that was equal to Oslo time (4.5 hours different from the photos) and not Mumbai time.
It almost seems like the camera app saves the photos based on the iPhones current Time Zone setting, but saves video with a creation date equal to the time zone the phone was originally set to.
I've been able to reproduce the bug a couple of times. The only fix I have for it is manually changing the time and date of the videos in iPhoto.
Could someone else try this out and see if they can reproduce the problem as well?
    Peter
