Showing reachability history in Prime Infrastructure 2.2
Hi,
is there a way to show the detailed reachability history of a specified switch?
Although there's a report called "wired device availabilty" where you can retrieve the average availability of the specified device, I would like to see detailed information about when the device was reachable and when it wasn't.
Thanks in advance!
I worked with TAC Team and the final solution was to delete all controllers and add them again. This might get fixed in a future version though.

Device Reachable but Unmanaged in Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3
Hi,
I am running the Eval version of cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3
I tried running discovery for WLC and it worked fine where all the controllers were discovered.
But when i try to discover a Switch, the reachability tab says Reachable but in Collection Status tab it shows Unmanaged.
When i click on the Unmanaged tab it says " Pre-collection check failed because: "
I have configured the SNMP correctly.
Does anyone know why is this happening.
All the help is greatly appreciated.Had the same issue and noticed that the licence count for 100 devices (Eval Limit) was consumed as soon as we added the WLC
On your page https:///webacs/welcomeAction.do#pageId=LicenseCenter_pageId look at how many are taken and if it is in violation.
We added our 500 pak upgraded, and it still didn't fix the issue when re-syncing. We had to remove the device and re-add.
This is now resolved for us. -
Prime Infrastructure 2.0 does not show Planning Mode
Hi,
I´d like to know if evaluation version of Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 (PRIME-NCS-VAPL) does not provide the feature "Planning Mode" to conduct a Predictive Site Survey.
Monitor>Site Maps>Select an Site>
At the drop down list (select a command), I can´t see planning mode. The options are: New Building, New Outdoor Area, Edit Campus/Site, Delete Campus/Site, Configure Interferer Notifications.
I also notice that "Add Access Points" does not appear.
see the att image.
Tks.Hi ,
1. Monitor > Site Maps
2. Select the appropriate location link from the list that appears.
A color-coded map appears showing placement of all installed elements (access points, clients, tags) and their relative signal strength.
CLICK on the " color-coded map "
Now on the right hand side Drop Down Menu , you should be able to see the "Planning Mode"
Thanks-

Prime Infrastructure- switch interface up/down history statistics.
Hi. Does Prime Infrastructure support a way of showing when some specific interface was last seen up/down?
For example I need to know which interfaces are not used very often (that are in the down state most of the time).
Thanks!Pawel,
Unfortunately PI 2.1 (and 2.2) do not yet allow us to define automated actions in the event of a specific syslog message being received. -
Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 not showing alerts from switch
Hello,
I have a prime infrastructure 2.0 running at a customer place and the customer now complains that he is not receiving link up/down messages from the switch. When i checked I have seen that if I shut down a port in the switch the prime identifies after a long time, but its not generating an alarm still. How can I fine tune the prime to fix this issue. Please help on this.
Thanks in advanceHi,
Same problem here.
I am using Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 (evaluation version for 60 days). I want to deploy port monitoring for my trunk ports between switches and some other important ports e.g. servers. Basically I want to get alarms when these ports are down, there are errors on ports and etc.
So in Design>Port Grouping I created User Defined group with important ports. In Deploy>Monitoring Deployment I selected Interface Health (default)>Deploy selected Port Groups and when selected port group I created.
Now the rule shows Deployed: Yes and Status: Active. After that I just pulled out one port which was in monitored group, waited 5min as it is set in Interface Health (default) template, and nothing happened, and worse, alarms started to show up of other ports where regular users are connected (computers was turned off), which I do not want to see at all. I tried redeploy template, I even created my own template but still no desired result.
Any suggestions how to make port monitoring work? -
Prime Infrastructure 2.1 - SFP port alarms to email/show total network traffic speed
Hello,
Running Prime Infrastructure 2.1 with assurance license.
I have two questions:
1. Setting up alarms in PI 2.1. I've set up a port group of my main switches that have TenGig links to our main router. I have set up a monitor template that has only interface availability on it and then deployed it. In theory, this should email me, the contact (where I put my email address in), when the ports that I have set up go down, correct?
2. I want to monitor the entire traffic of the network going in to the router from our TenGig ports. I've messed around with the dashlets and adding my port group to the WAN utilization dashlet but only see % of utilization. I'd like to be able to see raw traffic stats from those ports. I'm sure I'm missing something. Where do I need to look in PI to check raw traffic data in Mbps/Gbps from my ports. In my first question, I do not get an email when a port goes down. I set up a test port and when I pulled it, after about 10 minutes, it had never sent me an email. I will continue to look through what I've been doing to see if I can figure it out.

JeremyHi Jeremy,
SNMP traps are shown in the events and alerts section of PI.
SNMP config looks fine. Can you run the SNMP debug (debug snmp packets ) .check the logs and see if the device is actually sending the TRAPS to the PI server.
Thanks-

Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 and Aironet 1250 + VSS issues
Hi,
I am new to the NCS implementations and configurations. I have one very specific case with Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 and autonomnous APs and several issues with Cisco VSS on 6500 switches.
So here is the version from Prime:

Well the issue what we have now is that access point has been added but its not recognized by the NCS prime. I have tried all three versions of SNMP but I get the same result. The SNMP configuration is valid since I use the same for my switching infrastructure. When I enter "debug snmp packets" and "terminal monitor" I can see the SNMP communication between Prime and Aironet 1250 which is standalone.
When I switch to Lifecycle theme and go to Operate > Device Monitor Center I see all devices I have added. The Aironet 1250 is reachable but under collection status I get Managed with Warnings. When I hover over with my mouse I get "None available".
I have successfully added my switching infrastructure in total, which is operating perfectly for Catalyst 2960/3650/3750/4500 series but for 6500 under VSS I have some warnings. The device is recognized by the system which is excellent and all is operational. I get the following errors under Collection Status:
feature_sensor
SNMP request timed out
feature_powerSupplyFanStatus-6k
SNMP request timed out
IdentityCapability
The device is unreachable.
feature_flashdevice
SNMP request timed out
sam_ipsla_feature
The device is unreachable.
What can be done to resolve these issues ? I have attached a screenshot of this particular issue. The affected access point is 172.16.165.241.
Predrag PetrovicHi rajeeshp,
Currently I am not allowed to upgrade it because of internal procedures involved in upgrading a specific piece of software (obtaining permissions from various departments). Is it free to upgrade from 1.2 to 1.3 or there is a specific charge for that.

Cannot add WLC 5508 7.2.111.3 to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0
Though the Cisco Prime Infrastructure Compatibility Matrix list out that 7.2.111.3 is supported for PI 2.0
I am not able to add the controller to the PI 2.0.
The Reachability Status always shown "Unknow" and SNMP Status always shown "No response for SNMP Get".
There is no firewall between the WLC and PI.
And ping test shows it is reachable.
If I try to add controller by non-management port (I know it is not work but I want to try the reachability), the Reachability Status shown "Reachable" but the SNMP Status always shown error.
And if I use some SNMP testing software to test the SNMP port. SNMP can be quoted.
I have try to lower down the "Maximum VarBinds per Get PDU" but no luck.
Any thing I can do to troubleshoot the problem?Yes, I follow the procedure but it does not work.
Another update:
I add another WLC with version 7.0.98.0. It is fine.
And I setup another new PI 2.0 and new temporary WLC5508 with 7.2.111.3 to test. It work fine also......
So, I am wondering the existing 7.2 WLC have problem in responsing the SNMP Get. But I dont have any idea to test....
Do anyone have idea to test the snmp connection between PI and WLC? -
WLC 2504 in Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2
Trying to add Cisco 2504 Wireless Controller, Software Version 7.3.101.0, to Cisco Prime Infrastructure
1.2 (1.2.0.103), License Evaluation, with no success.
When using Discovery, Discovery Job show Credential Errors: "Error occured due to invalid SNMP credential"
When Add Device from Device Work Center I get:
Reachability is "Unknown", Device Type is empty, Collection Status is "Managed with Warnings", with message "SNMP Failure: No Response for SNMP Get request.", Collection Time is empty.
I've tried with both snmp v2 and v3.
I've tried to lower "Maximum VarBinds per Get PDU" to 10 or 20, cause I've read similar problem in NCS.I solved the same problem 5min ago.!
select the device and press syc ..that helped me ... -
Trouble With Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3
Hi,
I have installed the Evaluation Version Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3.
There are a few problems that i am facing;
I am trying to push a simple configuration to WLC using Prime Infrastructure. But it is failing as PI doesnot have RW SNMP access.
My question is that can I use PI to push configs without using SNMP. Like do it using ftp or something.
Also do the Wired Devices also need SNMP RW access on PI's part.
2. I tried running discovery for WLC and it worked fine where all the controllers were discovered. But when I try to discover a Switch, the reachability tab says Reachable but in Collection Status tab it shows Unmanaged. When I click on the Unmanaged tab it says " Pre-collection check failed because: ". I have configured the SNMP correctly.
3. I have the CAD files for all the maps in our environment but when I try to upload it to Prime it converts it into GIF, so the maps are uploaded as plain image with no knowledge of walls and obstacles.
So we would have to add the walls and obstacles by ourselves. Is there any way it can automatically pick up on the walls and obstacles and thus provide a better way for predicting RF profiles.
All your help is greatly appreciated.TAC Case! Sounds like a bug to me...

Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 - Third Party NetFlow
Hi,
is it possible to collect on the Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 NetFlows from Third Party Devices, like a SonicWALL Firewall?
I mean it is possible to poll SNMP informations from a third party device, so maybe it is also possible to get the NetFlow from this Device?
Best Regards,
Sven K.
Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPad AppHi Sven,
As per my understanding for 3rd party Only below thing are supported:
The following support level is available with Prime Infrastructure :
• Auto Discovery of a 3rd party Device
• Basic Inventory collection
• Basic lifecycle management of 3rd party device
• Ability to show traps and syslog for 3rd party devices
• Device reachability status polling
• Ability to load new MIBs & to create new monitoring templates
• For both Cisco and any SNMP device
More info is available in the link given below:

Prime Infrastructure 1.2 Syslog
Hi,
We are currently working on a solution comprising Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 and we can't understand if Prime Infrastructure can work as a syslog collector, since we can't get it to show us any syslog messages sent from the network devices in its the Alarms & Events section. Is this a normal behavior? Is it necessary to use a remote syslog collector on another machine?
Best regards! You can edit the file in vi if you're handy with that text editor. I find it much easier to just create a new file like aijaz described above (copied below here) using your favorite local text editor (I use notepad++ in Windows) and name it syslog_sev_filter.xml.
Once you have that, copy it onto the PI server using ftp. You can then drop into the shell rename the current file syslog_sev_filter.xml.old and then copy the new syslog_sev_filter.xml file from your ftp repository to the /opt/CSCOlumos/conf/ directory.
Follow all that with popping back up out of the shell and do "ncs stop" followed with "ncs start" to restart the server and you should now be getting all severity syslog messages in your application.
/opt/CSCOlumos/conf/syslog_sev_filter.xml file (Bold lines have been added here): -
Prime Infrastructure 2.1 Client Statistic Report Issues
Hello Community,
I hope you can help with a couple of issues I am seeing on Prime Infrastructure 2.1, running an evaluation 60 day license.
My PI 2.1 build is currently managing a WLC 5508 running 7.4.121.0, which has been added successfully. No configuration changes were applied to the WLCs, other than SNMP community. No AVC or medianet configuration is applied.
When looking in the 'Operate>Client and Users' dashboard; I can see connected clients and if I select one of them, I can see further details like session, security and client statistics (showing traffic and 802.11 metrics). These are the table views that show current values, however, further down I see graphs but they do not contain any information for RSSI, SNR or traffic sent & received (packets or bytes).
Question: Should I see this information under an evaluation license and if so, what could be stopping it?
Also, when I run the reports 'Report>Report Launch Pad' and select 'Client>Client Traffic' or 'Client>Client Throughput' the resulting report contains 0 bps, when I select 'Report By' AP by Floor Area. I have created a single floor area and placed three access points into it.
Out of interest if I do a report of the same type using 'Report By' All or AP by Controller, I do see traffic graphs for 3 out of 333 access points. Just not the access points that are in my floor area. Also the amount of traffic utilization is tiny (less than a kbps) for a WLC with 800 users.
For a 'Client>Client Count' report using AP by Floor Area, I do see the client numbers connected to the WLC/APs in my configured floor area.
Question: Should I see reports for client traffic and throughput under an evaluation license for floor areas and if so, what could be stopping it?
I have checked the background task and the 'Client Statistics' task is enabled and run time is being updated.
Kind regards,
IanHi,
here is an update:
There are more than one Report you need to start to get data for Device, FAN, Power Supply, Module - look at these reports:
Report > Report Launch Pad > Device > Inventory
Report > Report Lauch Pad > Device > Wired Detailed Device Inventory
Report > Report Lauch Pad > Device > Wired Module Detail > Wired Module Detail Report Details
SFPs and GBICs cannot be reported til now - there are working on it.

Error in Prime Infrastructure 2.0 after Controller upgrade
Hello
I've got two WiSM and Prime Infrastructure 2.0. Last week I upgraded one WiSM to 7.0.250.0, plus a third controller. That worked fine, but since then, my PI shows one of the two controllers of the second WiSM as "Unreachable". I rebooted the PI and also rebooted the controller again, to no avail.
I tried now to update the snmp v2c credentials in PI, but receive an error.
The error message shown when I try to update the credentials is:
Error: Common-1: Some unexpected internal error has occurred. If the problem persists please report to the Tech Support.
Error:Detail: errorId=6 Invalid credential name: snmp_transport.
Any ideas?
I can normally access the controller through its webinterface and don't see any errors that would spring to the eye.
[edit]
Just manualy run the Task "Controller Operational Status" and received this error:
com.cisco.wnbu.server.common.errors.InternalException: COMMON-1
Thanks
PatrickI worked with TAC Team and the final solution was to delete all controllers and add them again. This might get fixed in a future version though.
