Showing Resolution in Contact Sheet Captions

I'm creating a contact sheet using Bridge CS3 for Indesign CS3. I want to show in the caption the resolution and the dimensions in inches. Does anyone know if and how this can be done.
Thanks

Try the InDesign forum for this, there used to be a second contact sheet
script specially for InDesign, maybe that had this possibilty

  • LR 3 Contact Sheet Caption Problem

I am using LR 3.0 on a Win XP machine.  I want to print a multiple line caption below each picture on a multi-row, multi-column contact sheet using the single image contact sheet layout style.  I have set up a preset in the photo info panel with the information I want and how I want it to appear below each image on the contact sheet.
My problem is after I have everything set as I want and see in the first page when I select another set of images or another page the preview will only show the first line of the multi-line caption.  I have to make some change to any one item in the layout panel such as change a margin or cell spacing or change to another layout and back in the photo info panel for all lines of the caption to appear. If this is not done, the actual print will only show one line of the caption.  The multi-line caption worked fine in LR 2.
I have searched forums, blogs, etc for help and have not found an answer to my problem.  Has anyone experience this problem and found a solution?

    Hi there
Seems like it is a bug - if so you can report it to Apple by choosing Provide Aperture Trial Feedback from the Aperture menu within the program.
Printing seems to be the main thing from prevent AP3 from being useful to me currently, inability to make presets 'stick', border printing around an image even when no border is selected. There's probably more problems in printing but I'm kind of disheartened to use it to find any more, it's cost me a lot of wasted time already.

  • Contact sheet caption missing for some photos

I made a contact sheet from a selection of photos and for some reason, the one metadata field I selected to output with each image, the IPTC caption field, is included in some but not all photos: the specific photo I wanted did not have the caption output. (It is a JPG file.)
The caption is rather long (27 lines, 517 characters), but that should not be a problem.
Any ideas why some image's caption field is not coming out on the contact sheet?

No one have any idea why captions for some photos do NOT appear on my contact sheets?

  • Aperture 3 Contact Sheet Caption Bug ?

Hi, has anyone figured out a way to keep the relationship between metadata captions and the images consistent when compiling contact sheets. I am finding that if there is a mixture of landscape and portrait images, then the caption will not adjust to appear below the portrait images but simply print inside the image. Also, all the captions change their relative positions when you change the column/row configuration. Is this a bug and if so, does anyone know how to report it to Apple.

  • Blank Contact Sheets!

I'm an experienced user of Lightroom but am feeling pretty dumb - I've triple checked my settings but I can't get images to show in Lightroom contact sheets. The selected images show in Library, Develop, Slideshow, Book and Web but won't show in Lightroom 5.0. Upgrading to 5.3 doesn't help.
    Please help!

    Jerry -
Don't know what could affect that. But how about just making a new preset of your own? If that works, delete the LR one?
    Hope this does it...
    Cheers,

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 13/13.1 running on?
Assuming Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit, open the Elements Organizer 13/13.1 and select your media
    for the Contact Sheet.
Go to File Menu/Print and set up the Print Dialog for Contact Sheet.
If you used Edit Menu/Add Caption beforehand, I can see how you can get
    Date
    Caption
    Filename
under the Print dialog's "4" and even a page number if you have more than 1 page. But, I am not seeing
where you are going to get a title for each of the contact sheets.
Any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.
You can get into the Elements Organizer 13/13.1 from the Welcome Screen or by clicking on the Organizer Tab
at the bottom of the Expert workspace in the Premiere Elements 13/13.1 Editor.

  • Contact Sheet II Caption Incorrectly Sized

I've used the Contact Sheet plugin in PS for years to generate contact sheets and never had any problems. However, starting just last week the captions (the image filenames in my case) are generated far too small. No matter what I make the font size in the settings the captions stay tiny. Has anyone else encountered this?

    Hi Gianni,
I haven't had that problem I'm afraid. I installed the CS X2.1 and set up the templates (I set the output resolution to 402 for my printing company) and ran it and it worked perfectly for me. The default resolution is 72 - have you changed that for your own value?
Whilst I was waiting for a fix for this issue I set up a template in the Print module in Lightroom and I find it is much faster and easier to generate contact sheets that way. Let me know if you want any info

  • Printing file & caption on contact sheet- Problem seeing full string

I am attempting to print a two column, 4 row contact sheet with file name & caption below the image. I can tweak the cell spacing vertical size slider which reduces the size of the image and can see all the file name & caption, which may be 2-3 lines.  I have selected file & caption along with a space after the string in the photo info section on the right and clicked done, then control clicked and saved template settings. I can print that sheet with all info. When I switch to another group of images using that saved template, all I can see is a single line of text. If I slightly tweak the vertical size slider, the image becomes a bit smaller and I can see the full text string, but in order to see full file & caption info, I have to tweak the slider for each sheet. If I go back to the previous group of images, the image is larger, I see a single line of text and I have to re-tweak the vertical size slider. I have a large number of sheets to print with file & caption info. How do I configure settings so I can save the full text string and don't have to tweak each sheet.

    Ben3C,
I have found the same problem.  What I have done is saved a template with the number of colums and rows desired.  I went into the 'Photo Info'under the Page area and using custom set up what I want to be printed below each image.  As I said, this is saved as a template.  Then when I select a group of images to print I select the previously displayed template.  This is when the caption will revert to only one line.  Then just select a different template (I usually select the filename.  Then reselect your custome template that you built.  All the lines of the caption will then show and print.  I have printed contact sheets with up to 10 rows of information and Lightroom will automatically resize the image so both the image and caption will fit within the cell area.
    Hope this helps  -- dbmazz

  • Contact Sheet II, Caption Overflow

    Hi,
We're currently using CS5 and have InDesign CS2 + Adobe Bridge CS2 loaded on one computer. We use this instance for it's contact sheet feature. It appears that something simliar to this is in Adobe CS6 via Photoshop, but when I create a contact sheet, it doesn't appear to autofit the caption on the page as it did in CS2. This results in ellipsises at the end of all our captions.
Is there a way to fix this? If not, we can't upgrade this instance.
    Thanks,
    Jack Musick

Do you mean the file name (caption) is cut off and there are periods (dots) at the end name?
Did you try adjusting the pt size for the caption (bottom of contact sheet II dialog)?

  • Creating pdf contact sheets at screen resolution using aperture/photoshop

Can anyone advise me on how to create a pdf document of contact sheets- low resolution [72 screen res]that is less time consuming than the present work flow described below?
At present I export jpegs 450pxl 72dpi from aperture. create contact sheets in photoshop and then
create a pdf in photoshop. Average number of images per client is approx 800-1000,
The pdf I have created with aperture has a resolutuin of 300dpi- which is a large file to email etc. I have tried reimporting the 450pxl jpegs but aperture still creates the document at 300dpi.
    Is it possible ...
1/. to solely use aperture to create low res pdf's
2/. If not is it possible to create an action in photoshop [or use automator] to speed up the process described above?
I do have a little experience using actions in photoshop but am by no means an experienced user.

Awesome! I didnt even know aperture could do that
Now another quick question on this topic, if im using RAW files, does aperture need to convert the file to jpeg or tiff (like it does if you export version as jpeg)?
If it does, that may be a problem as it takes forever for aperture on my macbook to convert raws and save as jpegs, like a good minute or two per photo, and if i have 200odd photos....not good, people will crack it waiting and leave.
Or does it print as raw? Cause im pretty sure my printer (or any printer) can not print raw files. Will try it tonight on my printer but a heads up will be useful.
I could just shoot in hi-res jpeg, but id rather shoot raw incase they want a large poster size print etc.
    Thanks.

  • Captions in Contact Sheet II

I typically create CD case covers from a group of images in Bridge using the Tools > Photoshop > Contact Sheet II command, and sporadically find that my file names come out as garbled captions in the resulting file -- sometimes just one or two of the group's files, sometimes all, sometimes none.
Has anyone else encountered this and is there a way to guarantee getting actual file names as captions 100% of the time? Thanks!

I am running Photoshop CS3 on Mac os X (leopard) and had the same problem with the contact sheet II command. By systematically shortening the file name, I found that file names with 28 or more characters caused caption errors, although the file names appear OK in Bridge.
I never had this problem with Photoshop CS2 running on Windows XP.

  • Contact Sheet II Function CS - Resolution altering from pixels/inch to pixels/cm

I am using CS3 with MAC OS X 10.4.11 when I create a contact sheet using File>Automate>Contact Sheet II, I set the 'Resolution' to 72 Pixels/Inch however once the contact sheet is created and I check the image size it has been reset to 28.346 Pixels/cm. This did not happen in CS2
Does anyone know why this is happening? It is annoying as I have to manually reset the Resolution to Pixels/Inch for each Contact Sheet
    Thanks heaps
    Di

    Hi Ramon,
Thanks for your suggestion, however the Preferences> Units and Rulers setting does not have anything to do with the Contact Sheet function. The Contact Sheet function itself asks for the Units (which I set to 'cm' as I want to specify the contact sheet dimensions in cm's). The 'Resolution' is a separate setting that I set to 'Pixels/Inch'. I have a friend who is doing exactly the same thing as me and the Resolution gets set correctly as 'per/inch' in the final contact sheet. Their Unit/Rulers preference setting is CM so this proves that it is not related to the contact sheet function.
The reason I don't think that the preferences is the issue is because this behavior is happening on 3 separate installations on 3 separate machines.
I will try this anyway and see how I go?
    Cheers

  • Caption problem with Contact Sheet II plugin

I'm using the current version of Photoshop CC (2014.2.1) and suddenly have a caption anomaly that is quite annoying. When creating contact sheets using Contact Sheet II no matter what setting I request for caption font sizes it created the contact sheet with 2.2 pt. text. I've never had an issue. I tried resetting the type tool itself but that made mo different I normally set the captions to 10 to 12 pt.
This issue just began in the last week. I did update to the new Mac os (Yosemite) in the last ten days.
Any idea as to what is going on? Thanks for any help.
    Scott Weaver

    I believe that's a bug in photoshop cc 2014.2 and cc 2014.2.1

  • Bridge to InDesign Contact Sheet - Define Caption Code for name?

    Hello,
Another beginners question, but I promise after this I'm done:
I'm using a script written for Bridge CS4 to create contact sheets in InDesign v 5.03.
When the dialog window opens in Bridge to set the parameters for outputting the contact sheet, one of the option is to give the items on the contact sheet a caption - for this it offers some suggested codes.
To add the filename as the caption, the code is <var filename>. This gives me the file name plus extension i.e. image1.jpg.
Creation date is another, code is: <var cdate[YYMMDD]>
I would like the caption to just be the filename without the .jpg extension, i.e. image1
Does anyone know what the code would be to give the script the instruction to leave off the extension, please?
    Many thanks in advance.

    Oh, you're my hero, Bob!!
    I didn't know about Find/Replace - told you I was a novice.
What you've taught me today will save me soooooooo much time!
    Cheers!
