Showing start and end time in month view?   And email like notifications ?

1- How to you set event so that they show the start and end time in month view?
2 - I have a little "1" on my iCal icon in the dock what does that mean? There is also a little one in the line of one of my calendars? I know I should know this but I am at a loss/

FDWifeCFD,
1- How to you set event so that they show the start and end time in month view?
AFAIK, this is not a feature of iCal.
2 - I have a little "1" on my iCal icon in the dock what does that mean?
That means an iCal invitation has been sent. Click the small envelope icon on the bottom right of the the screen to view the notification.
There is also a little one in the line of one of my calendars?
That represents the current time of day in the Day/Week view.

It does come with the operating system - you don't pay any extra for it.
Perhaps the shipping to Mars is a tad expensive?

• End time in month view

Hi,
I'm new to iCal. I want to print my schedule in Month view but as it is right now, it only shows the start times of events in each day. Is there any way to make it show both start and end times for the events in month view?
I searched the help files and searched online but nothing came up.
Any help is appreciated.

• ESS Working Time - Start Time  and End Time in Weekly View

Hello,
I'm having a problem with the business package ESS - functionality Working Time (cat2).
I need that information to Start Time and End Time appear in the Weekly View of the portal.
In Daily View that information are already visible, but In Weekly View that information does not appear.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you very much your attention.
Att,
Jair de Oliveira Junior

Hi Bala
You can have clock in and clock out in a weekly view.
you have to change the data entry profile settings.
In general settings tab in data entry profile click the with clock times button and maintain the Period type to 02 in time settings tab.
And you can view the weekly entry in clock in and clock out.

• End times in month view: after 5 years of asking, will we ever get it?

About a year ago, I noted that a quick search of these forums turned up 28 requests dating back to 2005 requesting an extremely simple feature every paper calendar has: the ability to show an events' end time in addition to its start time.
I had forgotten all about this issue until my wife started using iCal to manage her calendar after buying an iPhone. Her first question: "why can't I see when something ends in month view?"
Great question. I've added another request to this feature http://www.apple.com/feedback/ical.html. If you're frustrated by this too, please visit the URL above and request that Apple add this ability.

Re: how to print a monthly calendar with start and end times

It looks like we're not alone in looking for this feature. I found 28 other posts to this forum alone asking for this functionality (dating back to August 2005).
I know Apple likes to be different and elegant with their apps, but until iCal adds this trivial feature, it's not an adequate replacement for even paper calendars.
Do the engineers in Cupertino not care how long their appointments last? Why not at least let users show the end time on appointments as an option in month view?

One thing I must add.
I'm giving switching to Google Chrome/Chromium a lot of serious thought, now. It might actually be the better open source browser. Why?
I've discovered that if I go into chrome://flags, I can search for 'HiDPI support' and ... toggle it to disabled. Making Google Chrome behave as it did before High-DPI support was a thing. What a magical feature!
Apparently this feature is not impossible to implement because Google managed it. Why can't Firefox have an about:config option that completely disables High-DPI??
Seeing that Google has done this makes me feel all the more hated by Mozilla. And it creates links between Mozilla and the likes of Apple in my mind.

• How to show end time in week view?

Hello
I would like to know how I can get ical, to show the end time of an event? I really want this to show up in the week view.
Is this possible?
I have been checking around on this forum and many more, but no answer
I really hope some one will help
Regards
DesrAw

I am looking for the same thing. I actually would appreciate being able to see start and end times in every view. When I'm trying to see how many hours I'm working in a week, the easiest way is to see that, okay, Monday is 9-5, Tuesday is 9-4, Wednesday is 8:30-4:30, and so on. Those numbers are easy to calculate and add.
Plus, in month view, I can't tell what kind of gaps there will be in my days, and my down time is extremely important to me!

• Start and end balance per month

Hello,
I am new in building formulas.
I have the following values in in my table, I would like to find out the start and end balance for month Jan and Feb.
Table: Transactions
Date
Balance
02/Jan/2014
100
05/Jan/2014
150
25/Jan/2014
120
09/Feb/2014
180
14/Feb/2014
200
16/Feb/2014
100
22/Feb/2014
190
Table: Results
Jan
Feb
Start balance
100
180
End balance
120
190
Can you please help with the simplest formula to get the above result?
I don't know when the first and last transaction will occur in a certain month. Also I don't know the total number of transactions per month.

I would like to find out the start and end balance for month Jan and Feb.
Assuming you are looking for the starting and ending balance for each month, and not the maximum and minimum balance, then you could do something like this:
Add an Index column to your Transactions table that extracts the month name with this formula in C2, copied down:
       =MONTHNAME(MONTH(A2))
(I first had to change the format of the dates in column A so Numbers would recognize them as dates on my machine.
In the results table I made sure I entered January and February as text, by typing an apostrophe (single quote) and typing the month name.  Otherwise Numbers smart date recognition will try to turn the month name into a date. (Note I used the full month name rather than an abbreviation.)
The formula in B2 of the Results table, copied to C2, is:
        =INDEX(Transactons::$B,MATCH(B$1,Transactons::$C,0))
The formula in B3 of the Results table, copied to C3, is :
         =INDEX(Transactons::$B,MATCH(B$1,Transactons::$C,1))
The INDEX MATCH combination is a flexible alternative to the LOOKUP, VLOOKUP family of functions. Here changing the last parameter in MATCH does the trick for finding the start and end balance.

• Display ending time in week view?

Is there any way to show the ending time for each event in week view (or anywhere?) i.e. 16:30-19:30 instead of just 16:30? I want to be able to see at a glance when my different shifts end, and at the moment I have to ad the ending time to the event title to be able to see it.

I am looking for the same thing. I actually would appreciate being able to see start and end times in every view. • Printing time range month view

This is driving me crazy. All I want to do is print the start time and the end time in month view. The problem is that I only get a start time for the event. Or if I try to enter the time in the even manually I get a time and a time range. The only way i found that works is to check the all day box then enter the time range manually in the event (3:00-5:00). When I print it works, but it screws up the snyc to my pda, and the list view. Any ideas?

I don't know whether this a "solution" or a work-around, but I did find a way to resolve this problem. I recently started using iCal by transferring appointments from a BlackBerry using the BlackBerry PocketMac software. Although all of the appointment times appeared on the monthly calendar, most of the appointment times were replaced by ellipses when the monthly calendar was printed. It turns out that the times would print only after re-entering the appointment manually. This had to be done completely from scratch, i.e., not by editing the original appointment, or by cutting and pasting the appointment back into the calendar. This is a complete pain, but seems to work. I'd love to hear a better solution...

• Month View:start and END times

Here is feature that i really need In the Month view: The option to have start and end times displayed. Now that their is no info drawer i have open and info drawer to see when the event is supposed to end. I have a lot of events in a day and some are for me and some are for my company and some are for my wife.
I need to see the start and end time quickly. Outlook does it.
Please make iCal do this incredibly useful view option.

Start times are still viewable.
It is a click box in the preferences that says show time in month view.
What i need is the END time as well.
I learned that the best place for this kind of discussion is on the feedback line for ical
http://www.apple.com/feedback/ical.html
Just tell them the features you need or miss. Please click the link and tell them what you think of iCal.

• How do you get start and end times to show

• Start and End Time in Record Working Time- Weekly View

HI,
In record working time we have 2 views, daily and weekly. In daily view, we have start time and end time, which we do not have in weekly view. Can these 2 fields be incorporated in Weekly View?

Hi Siddharth,
Can you please clarify what "iView development using NWID" really means?
- Is that Java Web-dynpro development? - Can it be either Java Web-Dynpro or ABAP web-dynpro?
- Does it mean that we have to customize the standard-delivered “record working time” application, or does it mean that a custom copy of the application needs to be developed?
Thank you!
Daniel.

• ICal 'Show time in month view' Month view missing text!

Hi I hope you can help me!
Since syncing to .mac last week my calendar has developed a problem which is happening on both of my Macs.
Some of my entries and particular words are not displaying properly when I enable 'Show time in month view'. Words at the end of the entries are missing! (they are fine with the times disabled). Can someone please offer an insight into this as I just bought my Mac and use it for my business.
Thanks in advance.
Aaron

I have the same problem. I want to print the month view like it was in my older version of Ical and it won't do it. I want to print what I see.

• Show times in month view?

Hey all! Just made the switch from Outlook to iCal and am wondering when you're in the month view if you can have the individual entries show the time. Thanks so much!

hmmm4321,
Welcome to Apple Discussions.
It seems that iCal>Preferences...>General>"Show time in month view" may be what you are looking for.

• Hwo to obtain the DST start and end times

Hi all -
Is there a way in java to obtain the day light saving start and end times for a certain year for US?
I know that US DST changed in the year 2007 so, I am wondering if I can get correct DST start and end times for certain period before 2007 and after 2007.
I read online that JDK preserves historical DST rules so I am hoping this is possible but do not know how.
Thanks,

Any idea is appreciated [otehr than incrementally iterating through each hour of the year to know the transition time !!!!  )
That's why I mentioned +dichotomy+ (EDIT: the english wording is +binary search+ ): set the initial date to Jan 1st, 00:00, then add 183x24 hours (half a year), if the hour has changed (which it will), there was a DST change in the first half of the year. Then substract 92x24 hours (a quarter of a year) from this new instant, if the hour has changed, the DST change was in the 2nd quarter, else it was in the first. Then add or substract 46x24 hours,... and so onEdited by: jduprez on Feb 2, 2011 9:15 AMWARNING: for anyone reading this in the future: this algorithm is flawed, unless there is further guarantees in the problem domain of DST rules:- if the DST shifts (up +1 hour then back) are less than 6 months apart (obviously it may occur, with a one day margin)- and if in some odd timezone DST shifts may occur around mid-yearThen the first binary chop could find the same hour at both ends, and miss both shifts. My apologies for posting not-well-thought suggestions...
