Showing Timezone in calendar

I am frequently moving between timezones and get meeting invites from other parties for events scheduled according to their timezone.
While Calendar manages the knighted correctly, there is a risk of confusion when the iPad (or iPhone) is set to automatically accept the location timezone. Switching the setting for time and calendar timezone support is a bit tedious.
Is here a way to display the current timezone possibly in the top bar (next to the time), and also on the calendar page (since they timezones for displaying the time and managing calendar events is handled separately)?
Would greatly help in reducing confusion about timings of events for frequent travelers.
Cheers,
Michael

Hello,
Did you found a solution for showing timezone in calendar?
Thanks,

  • How to delete unwanted timezones from Calendar app on Yosemite?

I upgraded to Yosemite and one of the problems I had with Calendar App had something to do with Time Zone.
I realized that Calendar added California time as default. So now I want to delete the unwanted time zone, but cannot find a way to do so.
How does one remove or uncheck a time zone in iCal (Mountain Lion)?
I found this forum and tried, but as the last person who posted said, it doesn't work on Yosemite.
Does anyone know to delete unwanted timezones from Calendar App on Yosemite?
    Thanks.

    Thank you for your response.
However, I am not asking about how to change the timezone on Mac. I'm asking about how to delete unwanted timezones on Calendar app.
Here I have 2 Pacific Time's. They are basically the same, but sometimes my computer choses one of the other without my intention. And when it does, it keeps showing (PST) on next to the starting time which I do not want. In order to avoid that, I'd like to delete "Pacific Time (America/Los_Angeles)". From the link you provided, I'm not finding the solution to this. I might be looking at a wrong spot and if so please be patient to guide me through.
If my question still doesn't make sense, please click the link to the solution for the same problem on Mountain Lion in my original question. You might understand my question better from it.
    Thank you.

  • Timezones in Calendar

    Hi,
I've created some recurring events in my MS Outlook calendar. The times for these events have a timezone of "Dublin, Edinburgh, Lisbon, London". When I sync the events onto my iPhone, the new events have a timezone "GMT".
Because of this, any events which are created during daylight saving are showing an hour out. I can fix this for an individual occurence by changing the timezone of the event on my iPhone to "London" - but because the recurrence is not something directly supported by the iOS calendar (the recurrence is set for the 3rd Friday of the month), the recurrence seems to get deleted when I make any change to the event on my iPhone and try to change all occurences of the event, so this is not a suitable fix for me.
In the Settings, under General then Date & Time, my Time Zone is showing as "London". And under Mail, Contacts, Calendars, my Time Zone Support is set to "London".
So why, when my settings all show "London", are calendar events being imported with a time zone of "GMT"?
    Thanks!
    Dean

Hi. Thanks again for your reply. Yes, I can confirm that the time zone in Outlook was correct.
FYI, I've done a lot more research into this, and come to the same conclusion that many other people seem to have already come to - it's a bug without an obvious fix. I've managed to find a workaround which worked for me.
The bug: Outlook always reports the start-time of an event in GMT, because it doesn't know what time zone the recipient of the message will be in. It expects the recipient of the message to do whatever processing is necessary to convert that back to the local time-zone. iTunes' synchronisation algorithms see that the event is being reported in GMT, so an event gets created with its time-zone set to GMT, starting at the same time in GMT with no regard to daylight saving. Basically, Microsoft and Apple both make different assumptions about how this kind of event should be communicated, and the two sets of assumptions aren't compatible with each other. After searching these and other forums, I've found many other people who have had similar problems, and no one has suggested a solution.
The workaround for me: the only reason for creating this event in Outlook is because it allow "every second Monday" type of monthly events, which can't be created directly on the iPhone. My workaround was to ditch Outlook, and create these events in iCloud. From iCloud they synchronise correctly onto the iPhone (as you'd expect, because it's all within Apple's own systems). This works well for me, and I'm happy with the result, but in other situations where people need to use Outlook for other reasons it's not good.
    Thanks for your input anyway.

  • Issues: new events show from google calendar but not the other way round

    Hi,
I've just followed the instructions to the letter on these pages: http://support.google.com/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&topic=14252&answer=138740
& http://support.google.com/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=139206 and looked at the known issues page, but I am still stuck.
Entries in my Google Calendar have now synced in iOS Calendar (and weekcal which I use instead of iOS Cal) - however, none of my existing entries in my iOS Cal have synced with Google Cal.
    Here are the issues:
A recurring event created by someone else and me invited showed in iOS when I set this up
None of my events from iOS show in Google Calendar
New events I create in Google Calendar do not show in iOS
New events I create in iOS don't show in Google Calendar
To test, I deleted the recurring event which was the only one showing on iOS - immediately it was also deleted on iOS which indicates it is set-up to sync betweeb Google and iOS
Cannot find any information on help pages about this.

I'm not sure what else to suggest. As the Nokia 5800 is not natively supported by iSync you must be using an iSync Plugin, so I'd advise contacting the author of the plugin - it may be buggy and need fixing.

hello, the addons manager is exactly the right place to look for it. please try disabling the addons that are listed there one-by-one (a restart of the browser might be necessary after each step). maybe one of them is bundling this kind of adware.

  • My event items do not show in my calendar that I add or the ones that were already there

My calendar items have disappeared and new events I try to add do not show on my calendar, what it going on. I have not had this problem before

Hi walnutfive, I was just installing a new iPad mini for my daughter yesterday and added two contacts with birthdays to Apple's contacts app and they both appeared in the calendar app. Later I updated the iOS software to 7.1 as it had 7.0 installed when unpackaged, then this morning my daughter added a contact and birthday herself, this one subsequently did not appear in the calendar app even though the other ones were still displayed.
I fiddled around with this for a while but could not get it to work.
There is no exchange involved, just the basic Apple setup. I reckon iOS 7.1 has a bug relating to this...

  • How can I get anniversaries to show on my calendar from my contact list?

How can I get anniversaries to show on my calendar from my contact list?

well i dont know if this is what you want but you could says it is a birthday and it will tell you when it is, it can remind you, and even tell you what number (i.e. 23rd anniversary)
    - actually nevermind that wont work because it will always say birthday and you cant have two birthdays scheduled for the same person. i do not think that is possible without actually putting it in calendar to repeat every year and just telling you. Sorry.

Sorry it isn't a software bug. Course of when calendar 6.3 create new user's calendar DB it will set timezone in calendar DB by timezone config in ics.conf file for the first time. After i edited ics.conf to change timezone parameter then delete user's calendar DB. It' fine now after new create.

  • When I updated by iphone with IOS7, my calendar entries did not follow the icloud.  I am only showing pre set calendar entries for the year?

When I updated by iphone with IOS7, my calendar entries did not follow the icloud.  I am only showing pre set calendar entries for the year and lost all other calendar entrie and it will not take any new entries.  They show up in my outlook, but not on my iphone, which they did before I updated my software to the new i0s7

Before syncing, select each calendar on your Mac and back it up by going to File>Export>Export.  If anything goes missing, you can use these to restore your calendars.
Have you tried simply force closing the calendar app on your iPhone?  To do this, double-tap the home button, locate the calendar app, then swipe up on the image above the app icloud to close it and tap the home bottom.  Then test your calendar again.

  • When I add a *.ics calendar item via email on my iPhone it shows in my calendar on my iPhone but it does not show in my calendar on my iPad. Why?

I am using icloud and family share but when I receive an email with a *.ics calendar file and add it to my calendar on one of my devices it does not show on the calendar of the other devices. Same happens if I e.g. add my flight details to my calendar via the KLM app. The details show in the calendar of the device where I did it, but not in the others.
But if I add a new calendar entry on one of my devices it immediately shows on all my other devices.

If you are talking Photostream remember that Photostream does not transfer existing photos on your device it only transfers new photos added to the camera Roll by taking or saving them. Also note that photos aren't added to Photostream until after the Camera app is no longer in use. Furthermore Photostream is not a backup media. It only saves up to 1000 photos and only for 30 days.
If you are talking about camera roll photos saved in an iCloud backup then there is no way to view these. They are for backup purposes only.

  • My iphone has calendar history for 10 years.  my icloud only shows about 6-8 weeks back.  how can i get icloud to show all the calendar events in the past that are on iphone?

my iphone has calendar history for 10 years.  my icloud only shows about 6-8 weeks back.  how can i get icloud to show all the calendar events in the past that are on iphone?

I encountered a similar problem when finally (and with much regret) I was obliged to migrate my MobileMe to iCloud last month.
Many years of iCal history vanished without trace during this automated transition by Apple and iCloud then kindly synched the resulting vacuum back to iCal on my Mac.
Fortunately, iCloud wasn’t able to decimate iCal on my other Macs because (1) they are still running Snow and (2) I had switched them off as a precaution.  Good job I did.
My solution was to export my iCal data on one of those other Macs to a backup file – then I imported that backup file into my Lion-updated Mac’s iCal. That restored all the iCloud-deleted iCal data back on to my Mac and this was promptly synched automatically to my Calendar on iCloud.  So now it’s all there and showing.
Perhaps you could do something similar?  In the meantime, be very careful not to let iCloud’s amnesia get synched to your iPhone (and other devices).
Experience has taught me never to trust an “upgrade” until it is proven to be working correctly and always to keep in reserve another Mac with a properly-functioning system and all synching to it switched off...

  • My iPad and iPhone have the same syncing calendar but my Windows 7 PC with iCloud does not sync/show the same calendar...please help!

My iPad and iPhone have the same syncing calendar but my Windows 7 PC with iCloud does not sync/show the same calendar...please help!

iCloud will not sycn a calendar from an external source.  In order to use iCloud to sync it, you would have to move it to iCloud and stop using Google.  I know how to do that on a Mac, but I'm not sure how to do it on a PC.  If you're using Outlook, I suspect you export it as an .ics file to your desktop, then import it to the iCloud account in Outlook.  I'm sure you could use Google to find the specific steps.
However, there's really no reason not to just use Google to sync your calendar across your devices.  Instead, just continue to use Goole calendar on all your devices and they should stay in sync.  Take a look at this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0Jj0KFgbYI.

  • Exchange Calendar Syncing but no events showing in my calendar

I have a palm pre plus from verizon and am using active sync with an exchange account.  My email and contacts sync perfectly.  I know my calendar events are in sync because I get my reminders pop up for events right when they should be (normally 15 minutes prior).  The problem is that when I open the calendar it shows no entries at all!  I have the exchange account set as default and have tried adding and deleting the account about 10 times to no avail.  I can even enter a new entry on the pre and it shows up in outlook shortly after.  When I am done entering the new appointment on the pre though and go back to the calendar page, it does not show.  I've tried only viewing the exchange calendar and showing all calendars and neither way shows me my calendar.  HELP!  Thanks everyone!

Same problem here.....latest webos installed, email and calendars downloading fine from Exchange, email sync'd working both ways, but calendar events entered on the Pre are not uploading to Exchange.  Problem has been going on since year 2010 bug fix in latest webos release.  What is the fix? Palm Pre from Sprint.
