Shows auto-delete from DVR.

Since the recent updates I've had a problem with shows auto deleting from my DVR. Anyone else? It has nothing to do with the DVR being full. And it seems fairly random. I can have a show on there for weeks and it will remain but I can record something one night to find it gone the next morning.

Haven't had 'random' deletes, but my DVR has been running near its capacity recently, and I've noticed that the autodelete algorithms are definitely somewhat over-aggressive - for example, clearing about 3 hours worth of stuff from the recent deletes folder *and* another 1 hour show in order to record a new 1 hour show. They also seem to have a few bugs, such as: a show stopped recording because of lack of space, even though there were other shows available to delete (only seen that once though).
Do you use the 'Save Until I Delete' option? I find it useful for automatically ensuring that series recordings can't be auto-deleted, Unfortunately, haven't been able to find a way to set it in advance for single recordings, so have to go back and set it on shows after they have been recorded.
In all the auto-deletes I've seen they do seem to remove the oldest first. Could the older shows that are saved on your DVR be marked 'Save Until I Delete"?
Anyway, hope some of this helps ...

  • How do i delete photos in my library without having them auto delete from albums I've created

My photo library is HUGE.  I want to delete photos from the library WITHOUT having them removed from specific albums I've already created.  Why do they auto delete from albumns???

    You can not
Albums are not a place - they are one of many ways to view the photos in your library - each photo exist one and only one time - Events, Photos, albums, last import, last "n" months, etc are simply different way to view the photo - none take up additional disk space
If you delete a photo form the library it is gone from every view of it

  • Multiple Shows deleted from DVR

Our DVR filled up, so naturally it had to delete older shows to make room.  However, in order to record one 1-hour HD show, it deleted two 30-minute SD shows (tosh.0) and at least *5* 1-Hour HD shows (2 house, 2 law and order SVU, 1 harry's law).  Reducing our DVR usage down to 55%.
    ...What gives?

  • Old podcasts were auto deleted from hard drive

I download a handful of podcasts once a week and keep a regular backlog on hand to listen to when traveling. This week, all of my archived podcast files -- looks like anything older than one week -- are gone. They were still listed in iTunes, but the files were deleted from my hard drive. They aren't even in my recycle bin, so I know I didn't delete them.
I assume this happened during my latest iTunes update (yeah, I know, this probably covered in the encyclopedic user agreement), but I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this and has a solution. I did spot the Allow/Do Not Auto Delete option, which I'll now use every time.
    Thanks.

However I have a couple of grayed out folders with a question mark and "inval..." that are non-functional and nothing happens when I choose "remove".
Try rebooting your computer.  In previous instances, that sometimes caused these phantom folders to disappear from Lightroom's folder pane.

  • Deleted contacts from my phone & they auto deleted from other phone. How do I get them back?

Just updated my iPhone 4 and my GF's iPhone 4 to the new OS, we share the same Apple ID and subsequently linked both phones to the same iCloud account (I will be using separate clouds from this point forward). However, after the update all of her contacts where in my phone so I deleted all of them and due to the cloud they all deleted from her phone.
So, I have previously backed up (not just synched) her phone to iTunes but I was hoping for clarification on exactly to restore her phone from iTunes and recover all of her contacts. Can you please give me the “dummy” proof steps on how to restore her phone and get her contacts back? Please and thank you in advance.

  • Auto Delete From "On My Mac" Trash and Junk Mailboxes?

I have three pop accounts set up. I have set the prefs for each account to autodelete trash and junk messages older than one week. This works.
However, when I delete a message from a folder I manually created, Mail moves it to an "On My Mac" trash folder. If I mark a message as junk from a folder I manually created, it is moved to an "On My Mac" junk folder. These "On My Mac" trash and junk folders do not autodelete the messages. I cannot find a preference to set an autodelete option for "On My Mac" trash and junk mailboxes.
Is there anyway to do this? Am I missing something?
    Thanks

AFAIK, that’s how it works and you aren’t missing anything. The Mailbox Behaviors settings are account-specific and there is no way to specify those settings for “On My Mac” mailboxes... except I have my accounts set to erase messages in the Trash when quitting Mail, and my “On My Mac” Trash does the same...

  • Recieved images being auto-deleted from history?

I'm not sure why, but when a friend in any chat (group or private) sends an image lately, I've been getting this:  I don't get to see them, it just instantly pops up that way.And this issue is DESPITE this:  I can't remember any changes I've made recently that could have caused this except for telling IE to block Skype cookies - but I have not only removed skype from the block list, but also entirely reset IE's settings just in case and unfortunately this has not remidied the problem.  I've already attached a current DirectX diagnostics tool txt (zipped) if that helps. Thanks in advance X~X Edit: Also I am completely capable of SENDING images, and my own images show up for me within skype. I just can't recieve them, apparently.

Windows 8.1, Skype for Desktop version 7.7.0.103, and it's happening no matter who sends me an image, as far as I'm aware. I've had at least five different contacts attempt to send me images in private chats, and a few others have sent images in group chats - all of which returned the same error.

  • Podcasts no longer "Auto Delete"

    Hello,
Wasn't sure which forum was best for this but just wanted to voice my frustration with Itunes 7.7 and the fact that my podcasts no longer "Auto-Delete" after being played. I checked my settings for each podcast and they are still set to "AUto-Delete". If anyone has any suggestions, please respond.
    Thanks!

The auto-delete functionality in iTunes refers to deleting the podcasts from your computer. The control for removing played podcasts from the device is on the podcasts tab available when the device is attached.
Whether or not podcasts are auto-deleted from you computer is based on the podcasts settings in iTunes. The settings button is on the bottom of the podcasts page (next to the undelete button). In the popup window under "Settings for:", select "Podcast Defaults" to change to default for all podcasts, or a specific podcast that you want to behave differently from the default settings.
When choosing "Podcast Defaults", the two selections at the bottom of the window will be unlocked. When choosing any single podcast, uncheck the "Use Defaults" checkbox to unlock these fields.
Changing the selection "When new episodes are available:" will affect how many (zero, one, or all) podcasts to download.
Changing the selection "Episodes to keep:" will affect which, if any, podcasts are auto-deleted.
As to removing podcasts from the device, this changed for me with the most recent update to the iPod software. Podcasts are removed from the iPhone if they have been played, but they remain on the iPod until they have been deleted from iTunes. I have not experienced a case where a podcast persisted on the device after it was deleted from the computer. I am hopeful that Apple will fix this with the next iPod software update.

Hello Komanaut and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with your email.
To clarify, are the emails deleted off your device and your email account on the computer? Or just on your device?
    Thanks!

  • Auto Delete Watched TV shows from iTunes - Mac version

My workflow is as follows:  eyeTV records to a folder, iVI picks up show, pulls in meta data and tags the show, converts it to Apple TV 3 format, deletes the orgininal .eyetv file, exports to iTunes in the proper folder (movie, TV, etc...)  Then it shows up on my Apple TV under home sharing with all the beautiful meta data and artwork.  The problem is when I am done watching my show I have to manually go to my computer (which is a headless mac mini running as a server) and delete the files.  It's a real PITA.  Is there anyway to auto delete shows with a watch status - or does anyone know where I can get ahold of an apple script or something to do this?
    Thanks,
    Travis

Have you considered a smart playlist of unwatched TV shows.
You can construct it like this:
Select iTunes application, the in top menu,
select 'File' then 'New Smart Playlist'
        'Media Kind'  is 'TV Show'
add another level with 'Plays' is 0
Name the playlist 'Unwatched TV Shows'
Once you watch the show, it will be removed from the play list.
If you would like scripts, there is an excellent source of scripts,
    Google for "Doug' Applescripts".
He has hundreds of scripts for various iTune tasks.
Most are free but you can donate if you like.

  • Auto delete everything but specified folder contents from txt file

    Hey Guys,
I am brand new to using Powershell (like 48 hours into using it for work) and I've run into a bit of an issue.  I've only taken a programming concept classes so some of the stuff makes sense to me but a lot of it is new.  Basically I've made a
script that automatically deletes any files over X amount of days.  My next step is to have an exceptions text that will have a list of folders that should not have its contents deleted.  This is what I have so far.
    $Date= Get-Date
    $Days = "7"
    $Folder = "C:\publicftp\users"
    $LastWrite = $Now.AddDays(-$Days)
#----- getting DO NOT DELETE listing from TXT ----#
    $Exceptions = Get-Content "c:\exclude.txt"
    $Files = Get-Childitem $Folder -Recurse -Exclude "c:\exclude.txt" | Where {$_.LastWriteTime -le "$LastWrite"}
    foreach ($File in $Files)
        if ($File -ne $NULL)
            Remove-Item $File.FullName -Exclude $Exceptions | out-null
I've seen a lot of threads that show how to auto delete contents or how to exclude specific file types but I haven't seen an answer to my particular problem.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

    Hi Rabbot,
The script below may be also helpful for you, and uses the -whatif parameter in Remove-Item cmdlet, which doesn’t actually remove anything but simply tells you what would happen if you did call Remove-Item.
    $Exceptions = @()
    Get-Content "c:\exclude.txt" | foreach{
    $Exceptions += $_} #store the exception file to array
    $Folder = "C:\publicftp\users"
    $LastWrite = (get-date).adddays(-7) #over 7 days.
    $Files = Get-Childitem $Folder -Recurse | Where {$_.LastWriteTime -le $LastWrite} #filter files which over 7 days.
    Foreach ($file in $files){
if ($Exceptions -notcontains $file.fullname){ #if the file is not listed in the exception array.
    Remove-Item $File.FullName -whatif} #use -whatif to test
    I hope this helps.

Where does Mail keep its hidden cache of auto-complete email addresses.  I am plagued with an incorrect email address I can't get rid of.  Have made sure it's deleted from Contacts and made sure it's deleted from "Previous Recipients" list in Mail.  But it still keeps reappearing ... obviously a secret cache file hidden somewhere?

Autocomplete has nothing to do with this problem.
From the Mail menu bar, select
              Window ▹ Connection Doctor
Look for a disused SMTP (outgoing mail) account in the window that opens. Double-click it. Another window will open, showing a list of all the outgoing mail accounts. The unwanted one will be selected. Click the minus-sign button to delete it, then click OK.
If there's more than one unwanted account, repeat.

  • After updating my iphone 5 of ios 7, I delete or trash my emails rorm my inbox and they pop back up in my inbox.  How do I fix this?  They are deleted from the main server but show up in my email on my phone and will not stay deleted.

I recently updated my iphone 5 to IOS 7 and since doing this, i cannot get my email messages to stay deleted when I trash them.  They have been deleted from the main mail server but show up on my phone.  When I trash them, they disappear for a few seconds and then re-appear in the inbox. I tried deleted my mail account from my phone and re-adding it, but this worked for about 12 hours and now its doing it again. I also have shut my phone off and rebooted it but this did not work.  How do I fix this?

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPhone?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
Also consider deleting and reinstalling the Mail Account in question.

  • My iPad is double downloading iTunes TV series shows and when I delete, the extra show does not delete from the available memory.  I have lost almost 30GB of my 64 to this phantom shows.

I am losing available memory on my iPad (64 GB 3rd gen) and it appears to lose memory because some TV shows that I have downloaded from iTunes are appearing twice in my downloads.  Both download, but when Only appear as 1 show on my "videos".  After viewing the show, I delete, but the duplicate show appears to be still there somewhere (not visible anywhere) taking up the same amount of memory that showed before downloading.  It reduces my available memory to download other shows.  The general settings do not show any of these phantom shows taking any memory, but the total available is much, much less than what is showing for all usage such as music, videos, photos, apps, etc
Is it possible to delete a show from the download portion of iTunes if you have already seen a show and do not want to waste time or memory downloading again?  The only way that I know is to let it download completely and the delete from "Videos".

John0618. Did you ever get a response or solution to problem?  I have the same problem (starting about three months ago).

  • There are songs on my icloud that I deleted from my itunes, but still show up on icloud. I want to delete them from icloud, but can't since they don't appear in my itunes!

I have a large library on icloud- 26203 songs is the count when I'm playing over my apple TV, but my itunes only shows 25989 songs. There are songs on icloud that no longer are in my itunes library, or show up in itunes as being on icloud. I want to delete these songs but can't figure out how. I have reset my itunes match on both my computer and my apple tv to no avail.

No. It's on and I update it daily.
When I talk about removing songs from my shuffle play, I'm referring to listening over apple TV. My cloud limit is nearly maxed out, so I am constantly removing/adding songs. That's why I was surprised when I went to delete a song I no longer wanted in the mix and was surprised to find it already deleted from my itunes, but still present in the cloud. I've signed in and out of itunes/and match on apple tv as well, but that didn't remove the tunes in question!
