Shows tons of unwanted pop-up ads and get redirected to unknown sites automatically

When i started my PC lately, it was fine. But now i have a problems With my computer. When I connect my system to Internet and start browsing, I find lots of unwanted ads coming on my desktop. Aside this my browser also get redirected automatically to unknown websites.
After spending time lots of time Internet I finally found something really helpful. See what solved my problem :- http://bit.ly/1FFyKZy

Click here and follow the instructions, or if they don't cover the type of adware on the computer, these ones. If you're willing to use a tool to remove it(you don't need to, but may find it easier), you can instead run Adware Medic; this link is a direct download.

  • How can you remove unwanted pop-up ads and the virus creating them?

I think I downloaded virus which causes unwanted pop-up ads that cannot be removed.  There is only the option to minimize, not close and they continually pop-up.  What can be done to run a safe virus scan and remove the unwanted pop-ups?

    Force Quit .
Press command + option + esc keys together at the same time.  Wait.
When Force Quit window appears, select the application if not already.
Press Force Quit button at the bottom of the window.    Wait.
    Application will quit.
If this does not help, press the power button for 7 or more seconds.
    Computer will shut down.
Relaunch Safari holding the shift key down.
    Identify and remove adware/malware

  • Stop pop-up ads and pages

I have tried all suggested Privacy fixes to stop pop-up ads and pages. None seem to work. Virtually EVERYTIME I go to a specific webpage Firefox opens a second web page for some advertisement. Also, on these pop-up pages, as well as original, there are different pop-ups.
I hope to hear back with a definitive solution. Because I have tried everything suggested I am going to now uninstall Firefox. BTW, I do not have these problems with IE or Chrome.

Which is better, this text or raw data?

  • Do I need to enable MySite or have a MySite created in order to follow content and get updates from Team Site library/Newsfeed?

Hello, we are migrating to SharePoint 2013. In the current SharePoint 2007 implementation we have disabled MySite for several reasons. Question: Do we need to enable MySite or have a MySite created in order to follow content and get updates from Team
    Site library/Newsfeed?

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to know if the MySite is needed for following content and getting updates of the followed content.
When users follow documents, sites, or tags, status updates from documents, conversations on sites, and notifications of tag use show up in users’ newsfeed, so users need to their MySite to view the updates in Newsfeed by OOB and you need
to migrate the MySite to SharePoint 2013.
However, we can also use APIs to programmatically follow content, please refer to the link below:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/jj163217(v=office.15).aspx
    Best regards.
    Thanks

  • Unwanted Pop-up ads in all browsers

Hello, guys! This is my first post. I've had two Mac computers in my life and never really had any problems until yesterday.
I have a MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2013), Processor 1.3 GHz Intel Core i5 and Memory 4GB 1600 MHz DDR3 (I don't know what any of this means but its suggested info). I'm running OS Yosemite V.10.10.2, Safari V.8.0.3 and Chrome V.40.0.2214.115 (64-bit).
Anyway, since yesterday when I open certain webpages (not "serious" ones like Google or Facebook) I get layers of ads, mostly in Russian. I know they are not coming from the site because I've visited them before and it's always the same two ads, appearing on many sites. I'm also getting a pop-up ad from a "adultyum.info" site (very graphic ****). This happens on both Safari and Chrome, particularly when I click on a link or use the search bar.
First I checked for Adware using The Safe Mac's Adware Medic (it found nothing), then I checked with Bitdefender (found lots of Genieo, but they've been removed and the ads keep on appearing).
I've checked the Launch Agents folder, nothing seems amiss there. I couldn't open the Launch Daemons folder (Finder couldn't find it).
Then I installed the Adblock extension on Chrome. In general, the ads no longer show up but I got the **** pop-up once. Safari is another story, they all keep showing up, so my guess is it's something on my computer.
I figured out, since most of the ads are in Russian, that adware/malware was installed on my computer yesterday when I downloaded a torrent file from a Russian website: http://rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3763287   (DO NOT DOWNLOAD ANYTHING FROM THERE). Anyway, the torrent file didn't open and Transmission crashed. Now I'm getting these annoying and offensive ads and adware removal apps can't find the source.
Is this some sort of new trojan? Has this happened to you and do you know how to fix it?
Thanks a lot for your help!

BTW, what is the "hidd" 1% in processes?
PS: I also checked on firefox. The ads are showing up too.

  • Can't get rid of pop up ads and my pop up is on.

When I first got my Mac I had no trouble going to sites and no pop up ads. My pop up blocker is on and I can't go to sites without pop up ads from other places showing me where to get items from or advertising and a little place pops up when it is underlined a word for ads. This is very annoying I can't shop without pop ups showing me ads on stuff. Help!

You installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "VSearch" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.helper.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/Jack.plist
Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:
    /Library/Application Support/VSearch
    /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/Jack
    /System/Library/Frameworks/VSearch.framework
Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot" or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
This trojan is distributed on illegal websites that traffic in pirated movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect much worse to happen in the future.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the DownLite developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight is inexcusable and has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Pop-up ads and non-functional links in Safari upgrade

I have recently upgraded my imac from OSX10.5.8 to OSX10.6 and have made all the necessary upgrades to be as current as I can, this means I now have OSX10.6.8 and Safari 5.1.7. However, everytime I use Safari I get several pop-up "sponsored ads" that appear in the bottom right-hand corner, even with the "block pop-up windows" box checked in preferences. Also, sometimes when I click on links, a new tab opens but nothing comes up (the address space is blank, these links work fine in Firefox), or the link will take me to an ad website, a search-engine website, or some other website that has nothing to do with the link I clicked on; when I go back and click the link again, it takes me to the right place. I tried using Firefox but the pop-up ads still appeared, so this is obviously not stricly a Safari problem. However, these problems were not there before I upgraded my software. Any thoughts? I have checked my extensions in preferences and I only have two: A DivX plus web player, and a Safari flash player.
    thanks in advance

They're not pop-ups. How do you expect any software to distinguish between the ad videos and the actual video you want to see?

  • How do I remove MacSmart ads and/or any pop-up ads and PUPs?

How do I remove MacSmart ads and all other PUPs from my Air?
Also what the word on the street about which are the leading consumer AV/AM freemium apps available now?

Read this for an explanation and possible solution: How to install adware
Also what the word on the street about which are the leading consumer AV/AM freemium apps available now?
I'm not quite sure I understand what you're asking, but if it concerns "anti-virus" utilities they are worthless on a Mac and cannot prevent you from installing adware as described above.
There will always be threats to your information security associated with using any Internet - connected communications tool:
You can mitigate those threats by following commonsense practices
Delegating that responsibility to software is an ineffective defense
Assuming that any product will protect you from those threats is a hazardous attitude that is likely to result in overlooking point #1 above.
OS X already includes everything it needs to protect itself from viruses and malware. Keep it that way with software updates from Apple.
A much better question is "how should I protect my Mac":
Never install any product that claims to "speed up", "clean up", "optimize", or "accelerate" your Mac, or to make it "shiny". Those claims are absurd.Such products are very aggressively marketed. They are all scams.
Never install pirated or "cracked" software, software obtained from dubious websites, or other questionable sources.
Illegally obtained software is almost certain to contain malware.
"Questionable sources" include but are not limited to spontaneously appearing web pages or popups, download hosting sites such as C net dot com, Softonic dot com, Soft pedia dot com, Download dot com, Mac Update dot com, or any other site whose revenue is primarily derived from junk product advertisements.
Don’t supply your password in response to a popup window requesting it, unless you know what it is and the reason your credentials are required.
Don’t open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize, or click links contained in an email:
Most of these are scams that direct you to fraudulent sites that attempt to convince you to disclose personal information.
Such "phishing" attempts are the 21st century equivalent of a social exploit that has existed since the dawn of civilization. Don’t fall for it.
Apple will never ask you to reveal personal information in an email. If you receive an unexpected email from Apple saying your account will be closed unless you take immediate action, just ignore it. If your iTunes or App Store account becomes disabled for valid reasons, you will know when you try to buy something or log in to this support site, and are unable to.
Don’t install browser extensions unless you understand their purpose. Go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. If you see any extensions that you do not recognize or understand, simply click the Uninstall button and they will be gone.
Don’t install Java unless you are certain that you need it:
Java, a non-Apple product, is a potential vector for malware. If you are required to use Java, be mindful of that possibility.
Java can be disabled in System Preferences.
Despite its name JavaScript is unrelated to Java. No malware can infect your Mac through JavaScript. It’s OK to leave it enabled.
Block browser popups: Safari menu > Preferences > Security > and check "Block popup windows":
Popup windows are useful and required for some websites, but popups have devolved to become a common means to deliver targeted advertising that you probably do not want.
Popups themselves cannot infect your Mac, but many contain resource-hungry code that will slow down Internet browsing.
If you ever see a popup indicating it detected registry errors, that your Mac is infected with some ick, or that you won some prize, it is 100% fraudulent. Ignore it.
Ignore hyperventilating popular media outlets that thrive by promoting fear and discord with entertainment products arrogantly presented as "news". Learn what real threats actually exist and how to arm yourself against them:
The most serious threat to your data security is phishing. To date, most of these attempts have been pathetic and are easily recognized, but that is likely to change in the future as criminals become more clever.
OS X viruses do not exist, but intentionally malicious or poorly written code, created by either nefarious or inept individuals, is nothing new.
Never install something without first knowing what it is, what it does, how it works, and how to get rid of it when you don’t want it any more.
If you elect to use "anti-virus" software, familiarize yourself with its limitations and potential to cause adverse effects, and apply the principle immediately preceding this one.
Most such utilities will only slow down and destabilize your Mac while they look for viruses that do not exist, conveying no benefit whatsoever - other than to make you "feel good" about security, when you should actually be exercising sound judgment, derived from accurate knowledge, based on verifiable facts.
Do install updates from Apple as they become available. No one knows more about Macs and how to protect them than the company that builds them.
Summary: Use common sense and caution when you use your Mac, just like you would in any social context. There is no product, utility, or magic talisman that can protect you from all the evils of mankind.

    Hi Scott,
With EnableQueryRules and ProcessBestBets set to true in the search rest api, we can get the promoted results(best bets) in SharePoint 2013.
I recommend to type the search rest api URL in the browser directly and then check if the best bets are displayed at the top of the search results.
It will not displayed inside the table for normal results.
Please also make sure that the query text matches the query rule condition.
    Thanks,
    Victoria

I type in info for a search and then click on the website I want. When I do this, I get redirected onto another website that has the same name, but is not the one I originally clicked on. How can I fix this ?

I have uploaded my portfolio site garymartindesign01.businesscatalyst.com and am getting complaints that my site isn't opening.
I have experienced slow load times, especially in Chrome, whereas Firefox loads somewhat quicker, but still very slow.
My question is is it my content, Muse, or business catalyst that is causing the non/slow-load times?

I strongly encourage using YouTube, Vimeo on another third party service. While it's possible to encode your own video files and host them, you'll won't come close to the cross browser consistency, cross browser performance, cross device performance, variable sizing, optimal download/play performance, etc. of YouTube, Vimeo or a similar service with a self-hosted solution.

  • How to get rid of excessive pop-ups, ads, and unwanted redirects

About month or two ago, I started getting excessive ads on my computer. Scams, Microsoft stuff, Adobe Flash upgrades hat were obviously fake. The ads generally appeared on the pay, but evolved to gene ate separate tabs and windows. It gets really annoying when i can't click twice without getting a scam, or being redirected. I don't know if there are similar topics. i'm not going to look cause in the 5 minutes it took for me to write this, I've been redirected TWICE. I hope someone can help me. Adblock previously installed, but was uninstalled BECAUSE IT DID ****. I am an active gamer, particularly Minecraft.

P.s, before someone asks, yes, I already held a cross up to my computer. It didn't work.

You may have installed the "VidX" trojan, perhaps under a different name. To remove it, first open the Applications folder by selecting
              Go ▹ Applications
from the Finder menu bar, or by pressing the key combination shift-command-A. Look for an item named "VidX," "MacVx," "MacSmart," or similar. If present, drag it to the Trash and empty. If in doubt, delete any application you don't recognize.
From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extension you don't know you need. If in doubt, remove all of them. You may well have more than one that's adware or spyware.

  • When I got FF4, it said that extensions weren't compatible. The worst is Delicious. They are all gone. Either compatibilize them, or show me how to ditch this POS and get back to the old one...I don't like this beta AT ALL!

I have taken it back to the Apple store genius bar, but they say they don't see anything wrong. Well unless you use it all day and experience the problems when they happen, you wont see anything wrong. But there are lots wrong with it. But this would be the same store as I purchased the phone. And they backed up my old Iphone 4, but were not able to get anything to load back onto my new phone. So, I lost pretty much everything. But over time, some of my contacts have started showing up, although i am still missing over 800 of them.

I have been searching for an ansswer to this delimma, but have found similar issues but none exactly the same.  I run 10.6 server and have mixed network users of 10.6 and 10.5 clients.  One of the users on 10.5 's mail app keeps showing unread messages, but there are no unread messages.  When they click on another mail box in the mail client or another folder the number changes, but ther always seems to be one or two.  The user also gets at least 2 blank e-mails in the mail app.  I have check the users web mail account and there are no blank e-mail messages or spam.  I tried to rebuild the mail box, and have also tried trashing the indexs, and they still get the same message.  Short of creating a new user does anyone have any suggestions?  None of my other users seem to have the same problem, although they do not use mail as much as this one user does.....

I get this issue every single day, and it is specifically reproducible. Here is the scenario:
    1) I have two mail accounts configured on my iPhone, one is my work account and is disabled on the phone, the other is my gmail account which is always enabled on my phone
    2) Each morning, when I head into work I enabled my work email account so I can start reading my work emails for the day. This downloads all the new messages from the server and displays them as unread.
    3) I read some of them, but not all of them.
    4) Once I get to my office, I read all of the rest of my new work emails from the Mail app on my MacBook Pro.
EXPECTED: The messages that are read on the mail app are updated as read messages
OBSERVED: On my iphone, not all of the messages have their statuses changed to read. Some of them always remain as unread messages
    5) Next, I delete some of the messages read from my computer from the email server altogether.
EXPECTED: These messages would also appear deleted when using the mail app on my iPhone
OBSERVED: Not only are the messages not deleted, but they are still listed as unread
The only way to resolve this each day is for me to select each message and view it for a second to have the unread message indicator removed. I have to turn off the mail account and turn it back on for it to correctly sync with the mail server and correct the mistakes.
There is clearly a problem within the iPhone mail app with retrieving updates from the mail servers.
I have an iPhone 4 running iOS 4.2.1 that I purchased in November. Before that, I had an iPhone 3G S and never experienced the issue on my 3G S. My MacBook Pro was used with both devices.
