Shrink my wav?

I think I made a wav file that is too big to import into my dinky website.
It's a 16 bit 44.1 stmp, that I saved as an aif, then saved as a wav - I think...
Is there a simple way to shrink it? Right now it's about 256 megs.
I have compressor, and a flash encoder:
I got it down to 2 megs using flash, but because there was no video, it wouldn't run (I think).
I got it down to 20 megs using compressor and turning it into an aac128kbps.mp4
It was a wild guess. Is there a best practice here? It's just supposed to be a simple audio file to click and listen to some simple narration.
thanks!

I would use QuickTime Pro to encode the aiff file. It has presets for web, speech, etc.,
Export - Movie to QuickTime Movie - Broadband Low should be a good starting point for narration.
Click the Options button to adjust settings. Make sure Fast Start is enabled so the file plays before downloading.
Here's a tutorial that might help.

  • Stretch/shrink audio samples to fit the beat?

Hey there, I'm new to GarageBand. I always used Sony Acid pro on a winbased pc because that piece of software is so fast to work with. The most convenient feature of Acid is the fact that it automatically stretches or shrinks your (wav/mp3) audio samples to fit in the the BPM you've set.
Is there a function in Garageband that can do something like this??

perhaps the ableton daw is a better choice if you are doing lots of beat matching and stretching, or want to go "live". pricey though.

  • Imported Reason track, Logic speeds up tempo?

I exported a loop out of Reason, tempo=109bpm. I opened the file with QT to confirm proper sound... Imported loop (audio file) into Reason, and the song is significantly sped up, even when I adjust the tempo in the transport that does nothing, but shrink the wav file in appearance. What's going on here? How do I retain the OG bpm?
    -thanks guys

Sounds like it's a problem with sample rates.
Open your Reason exported audio file in Quicktime and press:
    Command-I
to get info. Does the Format field say 44.1 KHz?
Open your Logic project and click:
    Audio > Sample Rate
Is that also 44.1 KHz? Your symptoms imply that might be 48KHz or higher. If it is (and if that's what you want) add your Reason file to the Arrange window then double click on it. Next, click:
    Factory > Sample Rate Convert
and click the Convert button. That will change the Reason file sample rate to the project sample rate and all will be well.
If both are at 44.1 KHz to start with come back and we'll have another go.

  • Wave chart shrinks back everytime when reaching 5 minutes

I made a waveform chart that that have a 5 minutes major thick but I noticed that everytime the chart lines reaches 5 minutes, it will shrink back to 3 minutes and kept on repeating the cycle.
I have been changing the scales here and there but couldn't get it to work; the time scale either dont follow system time or it kept shrinking back.
    Did I misunderstood something?

  • Using .wav file format in GarageBand (GB)?

I am importing files from a Zoom H4n recorder in to GB.  I am using 4 mic's so the Zoom recorded saves two files, one for one set of mic's and one for the other set of mic's.  They are in .wav format.  When I import the two files in to GB, they get converted to .aif format.  It seems to compress the files since the file size shrinks.  For example, the .wav files are 140 MB each.  After importing them in to GB, the .aif file is 104 MB.  I want to keep the .wav format.  Is there a way to do that in GB or do I need another software application that will allow me to edit in .wav and save it in .wav?  Thanks.

Which version of GarageBAnd are you using?
When I import .wav files to GarageBand 10.0.3 and open the .band project with ctrl-click > Show Package content, I can see, that the .wav files are stored "as is", in the original format in the Media > Audio Files folder.
But the edited song cannot be bounced as a wav file. You can only export from GarageBAnd as AIFF, MP3, or AAC.

  • I ripped all my CD's to a NAS (.wav). How to import those to iTunes while changing to AAC without loosing references (CD-Title)

I ripped all my CD's to a NAS (.wav). How to import those to iTunes while changing to AAC without loosing references (CD-Title)

You could try my script ConvertFormat and see if you like the results. Would be easier than inserting the CDs and correcting the tag info again. Just be aware this is a one-way trip. Once you've thrown away some quality to shrink the files you can't get it back without going back to the source. You may better off investing in a bigger drive.
If you just want to squeeze more on the iPod you can use the built-in iTunes option to convert files to a lower bitrate as they are added to the device.

  • Shrinking audio/Quicktime files in iWeb

I used the podcast template for my website. All my audio files were created in ProTools. The .wav files are often 40MB to 60MB. I have no problem playing the pieces on a Safari or Firefox browser on my iMac or MacBook -- but someone on a PC with perhaps a slower bandwidth told me she could only play ten seconds of every piece. I suspect the files are too large. Does anyone know a good way on a Mac to shrink a file size down? Or is the problem that Quicktime doesn't work on a lot of PC browsers?

The .wav format doesn't use any compression so the total file size could be very large.
Use something (even iTunes can convert) to shrink them down in size.
Mono would cut the file size in half. Mono plus halving the frequency (44100 becomes 22050 Hz) would cut it to one quarter size.
AAC or MP3 compression can also adjust the bit rate. Spoken word doesn't need a 128 kbits/sec rate. Your WAV source is probably 1411 kbits/sec. Cut it down to 64 and now it is 20 times smaller in file size.
No "Podcast" should be over 1MB per minute of file.

  • Auditioning wav loops at correct tempo

    Hi Forum
I have been a Protools user for several years, but because of all the usual annoyances with PT I have decided to join the Logic camp, just today in fact.
However one feature I am immediately missing is the protools equivalent of "Calculate Elastic Analysis" in the workspace browser. If you are not familiar with PT, this enables you to preview wav loops at the correct tempo for your session.
In Logic I can navigate to my loops via the browser, but previewing them just plays the original tempo of the loop, not at the tempo of my session. I can of course drag it into the arrange window and fix it, but I miss the immediacy of the PT approach.
PT has a process called "Manual Indexing" that goes through all of your sample collection and extracts metadata such as tempo to make this process work. Is there perhaps an equivalent in Logic I haven't found yet? Do I have to convert all of my samples to Apple loops perhaps? but how would I do that?
    Hope someone can help.

Shrink operations can be performed only on segments in locally managed tablespaces with automatic segment space management (ASSM). Within an ASSM tablespace, all segment types are eligible for online segment shrink except these:
    IOT mapping tables
Tables with rowid based materialized views
Tables with function-based indexesSince this is an IOT, any chance there is an IOT mapping table?
Since this appears to be a data warehouse, any chance there are ROWID based materialized views or function-based indexes?

  • Can not see wave form in arrange window  logic 9 Please help

I have been using Logic for 3 months now...mostly just importing old wave files from past protools sessions.  Everything was working fine until I created a new session to record audio.  I record the audio at a nice level...I hit playback...I can hear it fine but I can't see the wave forms.  I can see it in the sample editor.  I've searched around and found the same problem in the past on some forums......they say to trash preferences...  I went to my mac drive...library...preferences  and nothing  I have no files labeled  com.apple.logic.pro  now I'm lost....the funny thing is... when I zoom in horizontal ...the wave form shows but it makes the track way too large.  Any help would be great.  Thanks

    In Logic:  Preferences/Audio
What is the "Recording Delay" parameter set to?
It should be zero, default is zero. If it's set to a positive or negative Logic will often not show the wavforms. If that's it, it's one of the long standing bugs in Logic.

  • Unable to add wav audio clips to Audio1 timeline

I am mystified as to why Encore is not letting me place specific .wav files into the Audio 1 timeline. Encore will let me put the files into the Audio 2 timeline, just not Audio 1. The wav files that cannot be placed in the Audio1 timeline have been rendered as together as dual audio/video streams. Other files that have been rendered as combined audio/video streams do allow the audio to go into Audio 1?Then, of course, I can only hear the audio from timeline 1 once I've rendered. Is there some obvious reason why these wavs will go into Audio 2 but not audio 1? Or is there a way to render out so that both Audio 1 and Audio 2 are both audible? Right now, it seems to be an either/or situation where I can hear audio1 or audio2, but not both.
I'm stumped and would appreciate any help.
    Thanks!
    Truman

    Hi Jeff,
Thanks once again with your help with the Audio Effect - Fill Right/Left, worked perfectly.
Just wondering weather I might be able to ask you another question about Adobe Premiere Pro V7. I'm in the final stages of finishing my cousins husbands funeral video which I'm putting together for her and the two kids. I'm trying to put Digital Hotcakes Film FX 9 over some overlay I'm inserting. I'm reading the manual on how to do this and it aint doing what it is supposed to do. When I put my video on the Video 1 timeline, and the effect on the Video 2 timeline directly above, and then into Video Effect - Keying - Screen Key - drag & drop onto effect in video 2, thereatically I should have my vision play with the effect. All that happens is the effect plays without my vision. Is there something I'm not doing right? I've played around for hours with this and found the Luma Key works ok for some effects, but placing my vision in a 3D projector animation using the screen key doesn't work as the manual says. Do you have any suggestions?????
    Cheers

  • USB-6009 Sine Wave

    Hi,
I am new to LabView and am having some trouble. I need to input two sine waves into a USB-6009. I have a voltmeter that should read the output. Two of the problems that I have had thus far: I can only use "On Demand" in DAQ Assistant and even when I throw the DAQ Assistant into a while loop I still do not get a readout on my voltmeter. Any suggestions? Thanks for the help.

That is confusing. You say you need to input 2 sine waves into a 6009 and that to me implies that you are doing a DAQmx Read. Then you say you have a voltmeter to read the output. That implies you are doing a DAQmx Write. If you are really doing a write from the 6009, then on demand is, of course your only choice. As the specs clearly indicate, the output of the 6009 is strictly software timed so you would need to pass a sine wave point by point and then you would have very little control over the frequency. And, again as the specs clearly state, the fastest output rate you could expect is 150Samples/sec.

  • Online Rebuild Index Vs Shrinking With Compact Segment with Release space

    Hi All,
I want to know which is the better option from these as far as availabiltiy of index
    is concerned
I have been doing online INdex rebuild and haven't faced much problems but new to Shrinking
What Grid COntrol says about shrinking is
"This will first compact the segments and then release the recovered space to the tablespace.
During the short space release phase, any cursors referencing this segment may be
invalidated and queries on the segment could be affected"
I dont know how much is that affect...Can anybody share their experience and knowledge
    about shrinking .....
My Idea is to reclaim the space from the INdexes
    Thanks
    Gagan

It depends on many factors of which you have mentioned none.
The affect of cursor invalidation, for example, might be different on Monday than on Tuesday.
You should test this in as real a simulated environment as you can but likely any issues will be minimal.
Just don't be surprised by a surprise or two.

  • Why the wave is disvisible?? I used measurement studio 7.0.1 in my existing VC++ 6.0 project

I have an existing Microsoft Visual C++ project  MyProj. I  have installed the NI measurement studio 7.0.1 on my computer yesterday.
I have added a CWGraph control on a dialog of MyProj via "Project-> Add To Project->Components and Controls...->Registered ActiveX Controls->CWGraph Control".
It created 22 classes such as "CCWGraph/CCWPlots/CCWPlot/CCWAnnotations......." in my MyProj,
Now, I create a variable m_GraphCtrl for the CCWGraph Control by classwizard.
I want to used following codes to create a wave and show on the control,  in my debugging , it's running no problem, but the control not show a wave.
I have add a plot "1" in the contrl's Properties "Plots".
I have set the "Axes-XAxis-Auto scale" and "Axes-YAxies-1-min 0: max 255" in the control's Properties.
    code:
