Shrink photos?

My just got my company logo sent to me in PDF form. I wanted it on my desk top so I saved it in iPhoto and then chose Desk top. Worked fine. Now I want to put the logo in my signature for Mail. I dragged the photo to the signature editing box in preferences and it looks like it goes in there fine but when I go to send an e-mail the logo is in its original size. All I want is a thumbnail size. How can I adjust this?

That totally worked, thanks. I should have remembered that since I exported bunches of photos to a website last summer and had to make them smaller to save load time and space on the site.

iPhoto is not the app for this job. It has a handy slideshow feature, it's not a presentation software.
Have a look at iMovie, PhotoToMovie or Final Cut Express.
For points 1,2,3 all of them will do this
For 4, only FCE has built-in sound editing. However, I'm not sure you need it. Both the other two will allow you to fade-in, fade-out and cross fade between soundtracks.
For point 5: Rather more complicated that that, I'm afraid. All of the above will generate movies. Regardless of the input images it's the output from the applications that will decide this.
    6. In conjunction with QuickTime Pro, FCE and PhotoToMovie will output to HD.
I think your best bet is to build your slideshow in FCE or PhotoToMovie, output to suit the projector size.
You can burn the movie to a data dvd using the Finder.

  • Shrinking photo to smaller than source

    Hi All,
I'm trying to use photos for buttons in iDVD, but when I pull them from iPhoto they are too big for the button. When I go to iPhoto, the "source file" is already at minimum zoom.
Any way to shrink photos down further in iPhoto (or in iDVD for that matter)?
    Thanks!
    Bob

    Bob:
Are the buttons for a slideshow created in iDVD or for a movie slideshow from iPhoto? If it's the former you can either add the slide to the slideshow and move the slider to have it as the button's image.
If it's for a movie you can select one of the frame button types and then drag a photo from the media pane into that frame and it will be used for the movie instead of one of the movie's frames. But you have to drag it into the button's frame.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Color Shift when shrinking photos to Small under Mail Photo

I've noticed that picture quality gets really bad when shrinking photos to small using 'Mail Photo'.
Obviously the resolutio is far lower and quality will drop but it seems to have a strange effect where colours slightly misalign so an object will have a red/green shift appearing on either side of it.
If this is just me - is there a way I can 'reset' iphoto?

    jetsetjules:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I just ran a test with a couple of color test images and didn't find any color shift between the original and the small in the email. I used Photoshop CS2 to compare.
What camera do you use and what is it's color profile. I have a Canon and here's how it have things set up as far as color management.
Canon imparts the sRGB IE61966-2.1 color profile which is extremely close to the standard sRGB profile. I have my monitor set to the sRGB profile. I do not have iPhoto set to embed a color profile at this time. You can open the ColorSync Utility application, in your Applications/Utilties, and 1- repair all color profiles and 2 -check your camera's profile against what you have the screen set to. You might want to reset the screen to the camera's profile.
Then, using Pref Setter, you can check to see if iPhoto is set to embed a profile or not. You can change it from what it is and import a new file. Then check the color in another email. A little trial and error may be required. You'll also want to check prints against what you see.
If you camera uses the Adobe profile it is much different than the sRGB and you probably will have some adjustments to do. Good luck.

  • Photosmart C6280 Photo Reprints shrinking photos

I have a Photosmart C6280 and, when I attempt to do Photo Reprints, it is shrinking the photo and placing it the wrong orientation (rotated) on the resulting copy.
For example, I place a 4x6 photo original on the glass in the proper orientation. I place 4x6 photo paper in the appropriate tray. I press the Photo Reprints button, and the resulting printout on the photo paper is shrunk and rotated. It used to print a full-size, borderless copy, and I have not changed how I'm doing it at all.
If I place a smaller-than-4x6 photo on the glass and reprint it, even it is shrunk, whereas it used to be sized up to fill the paper.
I have checked every setting I can think of and found nothing, and no suggestions here in the forum. Any help would be most appreciated!

After researching, reinstalling software, drivers at least twice, I stumbled upon a solution.  At least it was for me.
This was happening on my C7280.  Something changed within the last year or so, just don't know what.
Open HP Solution Center, click 'Settings'.
Hover mouse over 'Scan Settings', select 'Scan to ... Setup'
This will open a dialog box that lets you change stuff.
    Click on 'Manage Scan Shortcuts'
Select 'Picture to Printer' on left side
Select 'Advanced Picture Settings' on the right side
Apparently, the default setting for this shortcut is 'Scan multiple photos to individual files'.
Seems that to use 'Photo Reprint' from scanner bed, this should be 'Scan single picture .. '
Either I set this in the past to 'mulitples' and my pc kept it despite the re-installs, or this is now the default via installaton.
Note:  The pre-installed shortcuts cannot be changed.
To change this permanently, one must Save the 'changed' shortcut under a different name, as any change to the original will be lost.
Back to the main Settings ... Hover mouse over 'Scan Settings', select 'Scan Picture Settings'
Under the tab, 'Solution Center Scan Buttons', select the previously saved shortcut next to '2. Scan Picture button',
    Click OK.
This is what I had to do .... something so simple was so hard to resolve .... something has been lost in HP's software usability.

  • Shrinking photos in IPhoto

OK, I was a Mac user for a long time (1986-1998). Then I was taken into the evil PC world where I became accustomed too using Photoshop.
I am looking for a way to quickly & easily reduce the size of photos imported into Iphoto for posting on sites that wont permit files larger than 300k.
I go into I-Photo, & it seems like I should be able to choose 'Constrain', pick a smaller dimension, hit 'Done' and have a file that is smaller dimensions & hence smaller size. This never works for me. File size stays the same.
It appears that there is no other way to shrink the size of a file for posting other than going to the 'share' menu which will not work for my purposes.
    Thanks for any help

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Select the pic you want to alter and go File -> Export. In the resulting dialogue you can re-size, rename and even change the format of the pic, then complete the export to the desktop. iPhoto will create a copy there incorporating the changes you made. Upload that file, and after, trash it as it's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.

  • How to shrink photos by percentages

How can I shrink or enlarge photos using iPhoto by percentages?

You can only change size of a photo during export - there you can set the maximum dimension of the exported photos as well as teh quality of the photo
You can not enlarge photos - only reduce the size

  • Shrinking Photos to Print..HOW???

    Hi there,
    Thanks for reading this.
How do I shrink the photo's from my digital camera to normal size photos? (i.e. 4 x 6, etc).
They are HUGE when I print them and I wind up getting only someone's nostril.
    Thanks in advance!

While printing, use different options available in Individual Prints. You can print to different sizes like 5by7 or 4by6 and many more.

  • Shrinking photo size (Tiger Woods Golf)

I am trying to enable the photo in game feature in Tiger Woods Golf. All of my pictures are 2.6 or 2.7 megabytes and in order for them to work in the game the photo needs to be 2.5 megabytes or below. I was wondering what is the best way to reduce the size to meet the standards. The recommended size is 1064 x 768 or better. Since all of these numbers mean very little to me any help would be greatly appreciated as to what the best method may be to shrinking the size so it is compatible for this feature. Thanks...

Select the pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. In the resulting dialogue you have the option to resize the pic.

  • Shrink Photo for Mail Signature

I am trying to add a photo to mail.  Any photo I use gets enlarged.  Any suggestions?

    Hey there coachflash,
It sounds like you are using a photo in your email signature and rather than staying where you resized it in the mail preferences, it keeps going back to original size. I would change the size of the image with the Preview application, save it, and use the updated picture in your signature:
    Preview 5.x: Resize an image
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH5936
    Change an image’s dimensions
    Choose Tools > Adjust Size.
Enter new values for width and height, or choose a common size from the “Fit into” pop-up menu.
To resize the image by a percentage, choose “percent” from the pop-up menu next to the Width and Height fields, and enter the percentage in those fields.
To ensure that the image keeps its original proportions, select “Scale proportionally.” If you change either the width or height, the other value changes to maintain the proportions. If you choose a size from the “Fit into” pop-up menu, the image’s width or height may be smaller than the chosen size to maintain the proportions.
To make the image’s dimensions smaller without losing any detail, deselect “Resample image” before changing the width or height.
To resize multiple images at the same time, display the images in the same window, select them in that window’s sidebar, and then choose Tools > Adjust Size.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • Trouble with Photo Sharing in Elements 9?

PSE 9 only seems to send about 1 in 5 of my attempts to mail a photo attachment or photo mail.  It's very frustrating.  Every time I try to send an email, it appears to work and shows it uploading to 100% but then, like I said, only 1 in 5 actually get delivered to the email addresses I select.  Because it sends out some things, I know it can work. What I can't figure out is why it won't work all the time.  Is there some trick or requirements I don't know about?  I tried shrinking the size of the photos until they were only about 35 kb and it worked, but when I shrunk them again the next time, it didn't.  Plus it seems silly to have to shrink photos that small because the quality of the photos is so bad at that point, they almost aren't worth sending.

try refreshing your services from Edit->Preferences , also you can try reseting your account settings.
    This might help you.

  • Imovie 3 crops imported still photos

I'm trying to make a slide show of still images. Imovie 3 crops my imported photos (NOT from iphoto) to fit screen, instead of shrinking photos to fit. How to correct? Thanks.

Thanks, everyone. Ken Burns WAS off; I ended up just re-sizing my images in photoshop before importing.
BUT whether I import via iPhoto or just from my desktop, the images are really pixelated when played back on Quicktime player. Will it look different after burning to DVD? The images are 1280 x 960, 150dpi. And BTW, you DO need to embed a color profile, at least in this experience.
    Thanks again.

  • My Ipod doesn't sync photos

When I try to sync photos, I locate the folder with my photos. select the folders I want synced, press apply, it says "syncing ipod" and goes through the photo's like it is syncing, then after a few minutes is says "sync complete", but there is no photo's on my ipod.
I may be missing something quit simple.

Had some similar problems syncing photos with a brand new iPod Nano. I've not figured it out completely yet, but I tried the following with some success:
    - shut off iTunes
    - delete the "iPod Photo Cache" folder (this will be inside the folder that you set up the iPod to synch photos with)
    - remove all the photos from the folder
    - start iTunes and sync the empty folder with the iPod
    - shut off iTunes
    - add a photo to the folder
    - turn on iTune again, go to the iPod Photo Tab and use the button there to synch
That at least got the photo into the iPod. So far, one photo worked, the other came in but had a green bar through the middle. If I figure more out, I will post it. For me it seems to be something to do with whether or not iTunes starts off with a clean folder first off or not.
Note: I've tried this with pre-shrinked photos and full size photos. Nothing about the photo seems to matter.
P.S. After doing the above, I seem to be able to add a photo to that folder while iTunes is on and then just re-sync and it works.

  • Why are my croped photos being oversized on wallpaper now??

Why are my photos that I've previously croped, get oversized when I try to use it as wallpaper, it wont let you shrink photo either

    Hello ScrapIron
When exactly do the port numbers change? Is it when you unplug the USB adapter and plug it back in? If so, it could be that your OS has not released the previous port numbers and therefore assigns higher numbers.
This could also be an issue with the driver of the third party (keyspan) device. Please make sure you have the most updated version of the keyspan driver (version 2.1).
A simple workaround to this problem may be to use the VISA Find Resources VI to programmatically find the instruments.
For information on how a USB-to-Serial Adapter with LabVIEW assigns port numbers on a Macintosh, see this KnowledgeBase.
