Shrinking client DB Size

Hello All,
Thanks for excellent posts and useful answers.
The problem which we are facing is shrinking client database after sync.
We taking backup on 256MB SD Card, everytime case is over it removes from device but doesn't releases space on SD Card and in the end after few weeks 256Mb space has been fully utilize and then it takes nearly 20 minutes to take backup and finally it fails due to space problem.
Any expert solution for this problem.

Hi,
just follow the standard recipe for resizing:
- defrag tablespaces you want to shrink: either by exp/imp or move the objects online to a temporary tablespace and then restore to the original tablespace
- resize the datafiles
works every time...

Client cache size reverts to default

(SCCM 2012 SP1 with CU5)
I've used a powershell script to set the client cache size to 20GB, using get-wmiobject and the Put() function. I've deployed this to a test collection of PCs using a CI with remediation, and it's both checking and remediating correctly.
However, while the 'compliance' is reported at near 100%, when manually checking the clients, many have reset to 5120MB. This affects both Windows 7 and 8.x based clients.
To take one client specifically, at the time of writing this the CI reports it ran and remediated at 11:45am - it is now 8pm, and the cache is back to 5120.
Triggering the CI to evaluate again sets the cache to 20GB (verified via get-wmiobject), but I'm sure if I check again at some point tomorrow it will have reverted to 5120 again.
I can't see any evidence in any client log that indicates what could be causing this. I've looked into how I can see what has made the change in WMI via the Analytic/Debug logs in Event Viewer, but the tracing available needs to be run at the
time the change is made - and I don't know exactly when that is.
Any ideas?!

Edit: CI is set to evaluate every day at 9am. Client push properties on primary site now include SMSCACHESIZE=20480, but this is recent change - when the existing clients were installed this was not present so they installed at 5120MB.

Changing the value directly in WMI is unsupported. You need to use the UIResource.UIResourceMgr COM object to perform this task on the client side:

SCCM 2012 – Client Installation properties - client cache size

Hi,
I'm setting the command line options for the client push install and taking into account the default client cache size is 5120MB. But my concern is a lot our servers and some workstations don't have enough free disk space for this.
So I was going to set the cache size to only use a certain percentage, say 10% for example:
SMSSITECODE=xxx SMSCACHEFLAGS=PERCENTDISKSPACE;NTFSONLY SMSCACHESIZE=10 SMSMP=FQDN-MP FSP=FQDN-FSP
So does it allocate 10% of the total hard disk size or 10% of the free disk space available?

As Torsten noted, this isn't an allocation or reservation of disk space. It's a maximum size that the ConfigMgr agent will allow the cache to grow to. If the servers don't have enough free space, the ConfigMgr agent won't stop or block or cause any
failures until it actually needs to use that space.
However, if you honestly have servers and workstations that don't have 5GB of free disk space, you've got much, much bigger problems.

There is no mechanism in Workspaces for reducing file size.

Save As PDF shrinks text font size unreadable

Just "upgraded" to Yosemite yesterday and starting to regret ... at least after the latest of today's hiccups.
Latest trouble: just converted a single page Word document to PDF to share with clients [Print > Save As PDF],
but discovered in horror that PDF conversion shrunk the font to an unreadable font scale & blurred letter head.
Same issue when testing PDF conversion in TextEdi
t.
The same Word document converted just fine in 10.8.5 yesterday, with no noticeable difference between document original and PDF version.
Also, older PDF documents still render okay when opened in Preview and/or Acrobat.

Update: I have run additional tests today, seems like it's a font that is creating the problem:
I use Merriweather, which suddenly convert to shrunken size in PDF, but if I convert the document font to something more generic, e.g. Courier New, the font size remains accurate in the PDF version.

Hello - I have gotten myself lost and frustrated. I made a sign that we are going to have printed, but in order to upload it to the company, the file can be no larger than 12MB. It was set at 300psi, but found out that it had to be 75psi. So, it went from 200MB to 14.4MB, but I can't get it down any further. It has three pictures, two text boxes and one image. All of the images have all been rasterized and grouped together. The two text boxes are grouped together, but I am now lost on how to get the file size any smaller. The pictures must stay the same. Is there something that I can do to the text to shrink that down? I just need to get 2.4MB smaller.
Can anyone give me some tips?

How are you going to get the file to the printers?
What is its physical size (dimensions) and what will be its viewing distance?
You can do several things but probably the best way is to save as pdf and control the jpeg compression carefully. If you know that the sign is not going to be viewed at very close range you can use High or medium compression, bearing in mind that a lot of the jpeg artifacts will be swallowed up by the halftone screen. Maybe the images don't need a lot of resolution. 75 ppi sounds like that's right.
Anyway, check downsampling when saving as pdf. Use JPEG compression (ZIP is useless for images) and see what resolution you can get away with. A close look at the resulting pdf ((zoom well in) will show you exactly what you have done.

Lightroom is shrinking my file size on export......!?!?! 3meg - 600kb!

Any help with this would be fab! my images come out the camer @ approx 3meg. I upload them into lightroom and make some basic changes (black, contrast, colour etc etc). When I export to 'my pictures' without changing any settings in the export box the images shrink to around 700kb! I am NOT ticking the 'image resize' box.
This has obvious effects on quality and my images are coming out worse than they went in!. I cannot find out why this is happening - any ideas would be great appreciated.

There are other things in the export dialog that can affect the size of the exported file.
Under file settings set an appropriate quality setting at least 80 or more and make sure you have not checked the "Limit file size box checked.
Or did you apply a crop to the file?

Client Install Size

Is there a way to have OCI support for an application without installing 300+ MB for the client install? I am trying to distribute a program using the smallest install size possible, but it has to support OCI.

I also need a minimal install of an OCI client. Local service naming (tnsnames.ora) is all I need, no directory client, no SQLPlus, no frills. Does anyone know if Oracle provides anything like this?

Awesome3 and Master-client's size autochange.

I have got one small problem with awesome. I have got tag with tiled layout. As you know, you can change the master client size: default via Mod + H or Mod + L.
And on the one of tag, I've Pidgin. How can I set the buddy-list as Master window and it will change automaticly if I get any messages?

GroupWise Client Font Size

Greetings
Currently I cant see any way to increase the font size used in GroupWise.
If this is not possible currently, would it be possible to inrease the
fontsize via a C3PO ??
In particular, I am more interested in the font size of details displayed
in the mailbox , i.e , "From" and "Subject" , "date" ext..
Or just being able to increase the overall font size would be nice.

The basic GroupWise client fonts are based on the system font. If you
search the support TIDs you will find comments regarding changing
some of the form fonts, but there is no overall solutions.

Client profile size

hi everyone,
how can i find the client profile, which is already existing?
and If i want to overwrite that profile (say sap_user) with other profile (sap_appl). Is it possible? what are the consequences for this.
Before copying profile how to check the freespace in the database?

I suggest checking it via the SCC3 logs, where a client/s target clinet and the profuile used are alwatys available.
SCC3 --> Exports --> ALL Clients --> Click the one u need for Info.
The size of a client can be determined by the following procedures..( Note 118823 - CC-ADMIN: Size of a client)

How do I shrink the page size of a PDF when printing?

I opened up a PDF and it opened in Preview and i need to print the page of the pdf but shrink it so it takes up 1/4 of the page and it has to be in the corner. What do I do?

You need to print one page at a time.

Why do my images and layered files 'shrink' in pixel size when 'saving as/saving for web'?

I'm using CS3 and when I "Save As" or "Save For Web" to a format like .jpg for example, the resulting .jpg is reduced in size considerably.
For example I was touching up a photograph that was 1300 x 700. I saved out the file for web to my desktop and emailed it to a friend. When my friend opened it, it had shrunk down to about 75% of the original 1300 x 700 size. I have the same problem when saving out layered .psd's, which lead me to believe it had something to do with my save settings. I've scoured the net for answers as well as gone through each setting, but have not been able to solve this problem.

Marian, this problem occurs whether I email the file or not.
Thanks for the responses guys, but the problem continues. Any other thoughts? Remember this happens under both 'Save As' and 'Save for Web' actions.

How do you shrink a file size?

I recorded a live set (about 2 hrs worth and 20 songs or so) and the file is 30 gig. I cut out each song, create a new project to work on them separately, but when I save the new file it is still 30 gig. It looks like all the data from the original recording is in the new single song file. Any thoughts?

Do a clean-up for every song project: File -> Project -> Clean up (before that convert regions to new audio files).
The size of your projects doesn't change because you probably only resized audio regions to fit every song, but the originally recorded audio files are still there intact.
Creating new audio files from regions and then cleaning up project will tackle this.

Java Reports. Shrink the font size of the texfield.

I am working with Jasper Reports. I want User Comments to come it to report.
Problem is if the Comments are bigger then it take more vertical space. But I want that its font size should reduce to fit into that area.
