Shrinking photo size (Tiger Woods Golf)

I am trying to enable the photo in game feature in Tiger Woods Golf. All of my pictures are 2.6 or 2.7 megabytes and in order for them to work in the game the photo needs to be 2.5 megabytes or below. I was wondering what is the best way to reduce the size to meet the standards. The recommended size is 1064 x 768 or better. Since all of these numbers mean very little to me any help would be greatly appreciated as to what the best method may be to shrinking the size so it is compatible for this feature. Thanks...

Select the pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. In the resulting dialogue you have the option to resize the pic.

  • Possible to transfer Tiger Woods golf game to new PC?

A friend of mine purchased the Tiger Woods 2008 golf game download to a pc a few years ago. He has the product key.
Now he has a new PC,and can not find a way to transfer the game. There is no longer support for the game as a new (2012) version has been released. He tried to copy it to a DVD but was not successful. I feel he may have to repurchase the game.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

The download maybe still available, if it was Amazon. Otherwise, your only option is to purchase a new or used version.

  • Tiger Woods Golf 93- EA sports

When I try to start the game I get a abort message that says Display window-DOES NOT WORK IN THIS DISPLAY MODE (isdisplaymodex()=1) then it says file win\window.c LINE 93 FUNCTION displaywindow. I can't find the file.

I'm not familiar with golf games, but does the "93" represent the year it was made? What I would do is find out the year it was released and run it in compatibility mode with whatever operating system was available at that time.
It certainly isn't. Tiger Woods was not playing golf at that time!
Some EA games only support up to certain resolutions. For example, NHL06 and NHL08 only support 800x600 resolution and the game does not launch if using a higher resolution. This was only really a problem with the game's static menus and not so much with
the 3D rendered game content. Modification of those games were done and tested with 1024x768.
I would see about what resolutions your game supports and what resolution you are using. You may need to decrease the resolution in Windows prior to launching the game. You may want to see if there are any mods or patches for different resolutions as well.

My photos shrink in size when emailed from IPHOTO or attached - How can I fix this. My friends say they can't see my pictures... thanks!!

When you email from iPhoto, you have a choice as to the size of the picture - choose medium and your friends will be able to see them.  By the way, do your friends click on the photo attachment  in the mail to open it?

How can you shrink the size of an upright picture to make it smaller without losing any of the detail in it (in Slideshow)??? At the moment, if I view them on my Mac Laptop, landscape photos fill the screen, but portrait photos only show the middle part, so I loose the top and bottom of the picture.  Have tried cropping, but that means I lose top and bottom part of the picture, so that is not the answer!!

Homestly haven't a clue what's going on there.
Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

Im having problems with this game the sound gets stuck

Hi, Your issue has been posted on the forum before.  Do a search on "Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf 2008".  You can try downloading Directx9 from the Microsoft site.  Sometimes the older version of DX9 works with older applicatons.  Additionally, try reinstalling the application.

  • Tiger Woods Online Golf - EA Sports

Recently I cannot log on to my Tiger Woods Online Golf (no problem the first year I used the online game). I get the inital set-up for the game but when I attempt to load the course and start play, my MAC tells me "content was stopped because a fatal content error has been detected" and Safari stops responding, making me do a force quit. I decided to contact EA Sports to let them know of my problem and although I don't get the aforementioned message, Safari stops responding (tried 4 different times, days) again causing a force quit.
Any idea what the problem might be?
    Appreciate the help
    Bob

I too have the same message when i load the course and try to play, then i have to force safari to quit. Is there a fix for this, i've tried numerous times and on different days to load game content and also from my Macbook pro with the same results which shows that fatal content error content has been detected. Can someone please help.

  • Is element the program I would use to shrink photos to place in necklace pendants?

Is element the program I would use to shrink photos to place in necklace pendants?

    Guy
iPhoto is not the app for this job. It has a handy slideshow feature, it's not a presentation software.
Have a look at iMovie, PhotoToMovie or Final Cut Express.
For points 1,2,3 all of them will do this
For 4, only FCE has built-in sound editing. However, I'm not sure you need it. Both the other two will allow you to fade-in, fade-out and cross fade between soundtracks.
For point 5: Rather more complicated that that, I'm afraid. All of the above will generate movies. Regardless of the input images it's the output from the applications that will decide this.
    6. In conjunction with QuickTime Pro, FCE and PhotoToMovie will output to HD.
I think your best bet is to build your slideshow in FCE or PhotoToMovie, output to suit the projector size.
You can burn the movie to a data dvd using the Finder.

  • Photo size and uploading to Apple

I'm in the process of making a quite large iPhoto book for my SIL for her b'day. The photos are a compiltion from many of mine, and others sent to me by family members. They are all different sizes, resolution, color and B/W.
After getting them organized, doing a bit of fixing on PS, I now am ready to get them into iPhoto.
Is it wise to take them all into Lightroom where I can do an easy batch change of the resolution? I have read where they should be around 300. It is easy to change them and the test prints I did at home looked ok, even on the small ones that aren't too big to start with. On the export menu of Lightroom, I have the option of stating whether I want them to be exported at JPG, Tiff etc., and I can change the resolution and photo size too.
I probably would export them as JPG, 300 res. and not change their size. Is this ok for the iPhoto books?
Also, if they are of a higher resolution, I assume it will take quite a while to upload them to Apple even with high speed fiberoptic cable internet service.
    Any suggestions will be appreciated.
    Thanks, Allie

    Allie:
DO NO USE Lightroom as it messes up the metadata and makes the files not useable in iPhoto. You do not have to preprocess the files to set the dpi to 300 specifically. The only important feature of the file is the pixel dimensions. If the pixel dimensions are large enough as you state you can leave them as is. iPhoto will fit them into the frame you choose and the dpi will be determined that way. No matter what size the files are the book is converted into a pdf file for uploading and printing. My last book of nearly 100 pages came in at approx. 25MB.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Tiger Woods Wins at Congressional

Well, it looks like Tiger Woods has regained a bit of his old form. By winning at Congressional in the AT&T, he has now surpassed Jack Nicklaus on the PGA Wins list, w/ 74, and is now in second place behind Sam Snead w/ 82.
He is also number 1 in Fed-X Cup points, passing Jason Dufner.
While I am far less a fan of Woods, than I was just a few years back, due to activities off the course, I have to say that he is certainly one of the best, who has ever played the game.
I made a comment, not THAT long ago, that he would not win another "major," and he almost made me eat my words, at the US Open. If I was incorrect about that prediction, then so be it. I do not think that he can touch Nicklaus' record of majors' wins, 18, but might even be wrong about that too. At 14, and with maybe another 24 majors ahead of him, I suppose that it is possible.
Maybe The Open Championship (British Open) will be a test of my prediction? Royal Lytham & St. Annes could be a worthy test for Woods, and depending on the weather, could close out 2012 with no "majors" for him.
He IS making a comeback, but I wish that he was not "coming back," from what he is.
    Hunt
PS - not sure what the deal is, but this is the third time, that I have tried to post this. No errors, no warnings, just an offer to take me to the forum, that I tried to post to, or the main forum page. Odd. If it gets posted multiple times, I'll see that others are deleted.

OK, in that cited case, only the first nine holes are used to start the tournament. One foursome on 1, one on 2, etc. The open play golfers are scheduled, so that all should have cleared hole #9, before the start of play. Then, at say 1:00PM, each foursome on 1 - 9 tees off. The foursome on #1 will end, with #18, where the foursome on #2 will play #18, and then #1. The foursome on #3 will play through #18, and then holes #1 and #2.
Starting multiple foursomes on different holes, at the same time, is called a "shotgun start," as at private clubs, without homes along the course, a shotgun was fired, at the appointed time. Then, they went to air horns (like the one that the course provides you with... ), as the fowl on the course were eating the shotgun pellets.
Though there are variations, and often confused, and confusing names, a "scrambles" is where all four players hit from the tee. The foursome then decides whose tee shot, they will use, and play out the hole, repeating the process, until the putt is holed. Say we decide that my drive is the one to use, then we all go to that spot, and hit from that area (usually within a club's length, and usually from a similar lie*), but after our second shots, we decide that yours was the best, we gather up around your second shot, to hit our third, and the process is repeated, until one of our foursome hits to the green. We all putt, and if someone holes out - hole complete, and we use the cumulative score for our hole, though we chose the best shot, for each shot. If no one sinks the putt, then the one closest to the hole, or perhaps with a better line, is marked, and everyone putts from there.
As mentioned, there are variations to a "scrambles." For years, one tournament started out, like above, with the best tee shot chosen, but then, each golfer in the foursome was on their own, and had to complete the hole. Two scores were assigned - overall score for the entire foursome (best score out of the group), but then another, individual score. That variation takes a bit longer, as each golfer completes the hole.
There are also often stipulations, for the use of tee shots. In the Lou Grubb, each player in a foursome MUST have 4 tee shots used during the 18. That means that if we are playing our last hole, and I have only had 3 tee shots used to that point, we MUST use my tee shot, even if it ends up behind the giant green frog. There is a bit of psychology, that can go into choosing whose tee shot to use. If player A has few tee shots used, to that point, the foursome might decide to use a shorter tee shot from them, to insure that everyone has used 4 tee shots in the 18. This really comes into play with mixed foursomes, with the ladies. We might sacrifice some yardage, to make sure that all of the ladies do get their 4 tee shots in. However, some courses really give a benefit to the ladies, who are most often playing from forward tees, so then it can be the reverse, where the ladies are nailing drives from forward tees, and the guys need to get their 4 tee shots in.
There can be other psycology employed, as if my tee shot is longer, but puts me in such a place, as I have say "tree trouble," we could choose to use another player's tee shot, that might be shorter, i.e. farther to the hole, but is in a better position. Still, with a "one club in the same lie rule," it could be that within one club length, we might have a better shot, around that problem tree?
Some scrambles have no minimum required number of tee shots, so if you have one long, straight hitter on your team, you may legally use EVERY one of their tee shots, if they are better.
You might hear terms like "best ball," used for a scrambles tournament format, but that term has an official meaning, that is different. You will see real Best Ball in the Ryder and President's Cup matches. True Best Ball is usually a team of two golfers in a foursome made up of two teams, and there are a few specific aspects, that would likely not come into the mix, unless maybe one is playing club vs club golf, where each foursome has two players from club A, and two from club B.
For most tournament, each cart will get a complete set of the "rules" for that tournament.
    Hope that helps,
    Hunt
    * That "similar lie" aspect means that if I hit my tee shot into the first cut of the rough, and we decide to play my shot, we may NOT play any shots from the fairway, even if it's within one club length. All four shots MUST be played from the first cut of the rough, but can be placed (no "drop" required) within one club length, in the same first cut.
PS - you might hear it said that with a "scrambles," no one ever has to play out of a bunker. Well, in general, that is often true, but in two tournaments, we had to play out of a bunker, as the other three shots were so bad! Should not happen, but it does.

  • Shrinking photo to smaller than source

    Hi All,
I'm trying to use photos for buttons in iDVD, but when I pull them from iPhoto they are too big for the button. When I go to iPhoto, the "source file" is already at minimum zoom.
Any way to shrink photos down further in iPhoto (or in iDVD for that matter)?
    Thanks!
    Bob

    Bob:
Are the buttons for a slideshow created in iDVD or for a movie slideshow from iPhoto? If it's the former you can either add the slide to the slideshow and move the slider to have it as the button's image.
If it's for a movie you can select one of the frame button types and then drag a photo from the media pane into that frame and it will be used for the movie instead of one of the movie's frames. But you have to drag it into the button's frame.
    Do you Twango?

  • Shrinking photos in IPhoto

OK, I was a Mac user for a long time (1986-1998). Then I was taken into the evil PC world where I became accustomed too using Photoshop.
I am looking for a way to quickly & easily reduce the size of photos imported into Iphoto for posting on sites that wont permit files larger than 300k.
I go into I-Photo, & it seems like I should be able to choose 'Constrain', pick a smaller dimension, hit 'Done' and have a file that is smaller dimensions & hence smaller size. This never works for me. File size stays the same.
It appears that there is no other way to shrink the size of a file for posting other than going to the 'share' menu which will not work for my purposes.
    Thanks for any help

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Select the pic you want to alter and go File -> Export. In the resulting dialogue you can re-size, rename and even change the format of the pic, then complete the export to the desktop. iPhoto will create a copy there incorporating the changes you made. Upload that file, and after, trash it as it's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.

  • CS6 not changing photo size?

I have watched a few videos, on changing image size, in cs6, since when I tried it, the photo didn't change size at all. I could change it to 1 million inches tall, and it will stay the same size. I don't really know what to do. I've tried unlocking the default layer, and changing the canvas size and nothing seems to make this image change size. I want the image in the picture bigger,  am I even doing it right by going under image, and changing the image size, and hitting ok? That is all the tutorials say to do, yet nothing happens for my image.

An image file just stores the image as arrays of pixels -- 1000 x 2000, 3000 x 4000, 5723 x 8557 or whatever.  Those pixel maps don't have any inherent "size".  The image file can also contain metadata that tells software how to interpret the pixels.  For example, the metadata could say 72 pixels per inch (ppi), 100 ppi, 360 ppi, 1000 ppi, or whatever.
In Photoshop (and in most other pixel image editing programs), you can change the metadata to give the image a different "size" without changing the pixels at all.  For example, an image that's 1000 x 2000 pixels, at 100 ppi, will be 10" x 20".  If the ppi is changed to 1000 ppi, the same image will be 1" x 2".  And at 10 ppi, the image will be 100" x 200".  But the image pixels will be unchanged; they will just be bigger or smaller pixels.  Each one of these files will be 2 megapixels and will occupy exactly the same amount of file space (before compression, assuming 8-bit RGB, 6 MB).
All of the foregoing is with "resample image" unchecked, which ensures no change to the pixel array data.  Now, if you want to grow (or shrink) the size of the image pixel array, you can do that in photoshop by changing the size with "resample image" checked.  This will add or subtract pixels, changing the image data.  So if you change a 1000 x 2000 image that's 100 ppi and thus 10" x 20", by changing the image size to 1" x 2", with resampling checked, the data will be shrunk to give you a 100 x 200 image.  90% of the data will disappear.  Your image will be 1/10 the size in terms of data and pre-compression file size.  If you were to resize the image back to 10" x 20" with resampling unchecked, you would still have a 100 x 200 image, which would have 10 ppi resolution --  a much crappier image.  If you were to resize the image back to 10" x 20" with resampling checked, you would get a 1000 x 2000 image with 100 ppi resolution, but it would still be a crappy image because 90% of the pixels would be newly created through interpolation, not the pixels in the original image.

  • Tiger woods online video problem.

I have a late 2009 iMac 27 inch with a integrated ATI Radeon 4850 graphics card. I think Apple wrote Unity Web Player so Great games like Tiger Woods Online could be played through a web browser on both Mac and PC. On half the courses in this game at least 2/5 of the holes are barely playable. They are jerky, glitchy and will most often cause you to lose a match.  If, however, I switch to windows 7 on the same machine, all these courses will play without a hitch or a glitch. This tells me that the graphics drivers on the Mac side are poorly written. If I hadn't been so hasty in my purchase, I would have never bought an iMac with a Radeon Card in it.
While I believe that Radeon makes superior graphics cards hardware wise, they fall greatly behind their competetors when it comes to support and driver updates and I've found Mac driver updates to be virtually non existant.
So now if I want to grab a quick game of online golf I have to reboot into Windows 7, then reboot back into OS X unles I want to greatly limit my courses.
Are there also issues with later model 27 inch iMacs?

Yes rkaufmann, I have, I beta tested the online program and even though I helped them, they will not respond to my question. I have set my graphics to the lowest levels without results. I have played these courses on lesser Macs with no problems (with lower graphic settings). I have talked to owners of the exact computer as mine who have duplicated and verified the problem.
Having said that, its very simple to figure out. The problem lies in the OS X graphic drivers for the 4850 built into the iMac 27" because the very same machine runs the program flawlessly in another OS thast uses different graphic drivers.
I doubt I'll get far because since EA Sports won't respond to their Beta testers I doubt I get them to do the easy fix and discover why it goofs up on 40% of the holes on 50% of the courses. Discover that and they could eliminate the problem on all new courses at least.
I know its fruitless to try to get ATI Radeon to update their drivers as better and more influential folks than I have tried. I wonder if the newer iMacs with ATI Radeon HD 5750 1GB GDDR5 SDRAM are having the same problem.
This is the last time I will buy a Generation One newer model Mac I was burned on a G3 that was supposed to take 2 drives, but didn't, a G5 that I had to buy all new ram to go from OS 10.3 to OS 10.4 and now this.
My only hope here, I guess is to get the attention of Apple to pressure ATI Radeon to update drivers and that is unlikely.
