My iPod touch is not connecting to my iCloud account, under iCloud settings it  has my old email account and username that I have since updated and are working correctly on my iPad, any idea how I can reset this on the iPod or otherwise? This old account info keeps coming back on my iPod and messing up access to my apple account and now the icloud. last time a system restore needed to be done to fix it....

It won't give me the option to sign out of the old account, it's that light grey color that you can't click on. And since it has the old email address that it's telling me to go into to verify the account, I can't actually change it... I'm stuck

  • Stack picks are lost when duplicating a book - any ideas?

    Hi everyone,
I've noticed that when I duplicate a book in Aperture 2, my "picked" image settings/choices from each stack are lost and i have to go back and re-pick the images I want to use. With the 100 page books this becomes very time consuming and annoying - is there anyway around this so that duplicate book means exactly that (not duplicate-most-of-the-book-but-not-the-important-bits)
The only workaround I've found so far is to extract the versions I want to use and then delete the old stacks - which works but is still a chunk of time to have to spend.

I've discovered that the solution to this problem is to pull the "picked" image out of the stack, and then delete the stack (to keep the album tidy and straightforward). That way there are no options for Aperture to revert to when duplicating a book/light table.

  • TS4036 I did a restore on my wife's iPhone 4 after I backed it up and when the restore was done all of her pictures were gone they weren't back up and I had photo stream on but I can't find the pics any where how can I get the pics back that we're lost

How do I find lost pictures after a back up and restore when iCloud was turn on and logged in and photo stream was on but pictures did not down load please help

iOS: How to back up - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Backed-up information includes purchased music, TV shows, apps, and books*; photos and video in the Camera Roll; device settings (for example, Phone Favorites, Wallpaper, and Mail, Contacts, Calendar accounts); app data; Home screen and app organization; Messages (iMessage, SMS, and MMS), ringtones, and more. Media files synced from your computer aren’t backed up, but can be restored by syncing with iTunes.
Photostream only stores photos from the camera roll for 30 days.

  • Lost ringtones with recent update any clue how to get them back

they show in my computer on the phone but if you want to sync it a box pops up and says that if you sink ringtones you will loose the music... anyone have a clue??

Same thing happened to me. Including pictures, music, and apps. And I don't know how to put the ringtone back on either.

  • Whenever I play youtube videos on my apple tv the youtube logo and menus are superimposed on the image.  Any suggestions how to see just the video?

I am unable to figure out how to view a youtube video without the youtube logo and the menus superimposed over the image.  Any suggestions?

Found the answer on my own; restart apple TV and menus no longer appear over videos and while playing music.  However, viewing streaming video on airplay is not ideal.  Sometimes the image freezes on the TV while it continues on my macbook.  Also, sometimes the sound comes from the tv speakers; other times it comes only from the computer.  Never know what will happen when I watch a streaming video.

  • Any idea how Videos (TV Shows specifically) are sorted?

My TV Show episodes used to be more or less organized properly, with only a couple randomly out of place. Now, they are completely screwed up. The iPod (80g classic) displays the last episodes of a season first, and they still are in no REAL order. Any idea how to organize them yourself? I would imagine it has to do with the Release Date, but I have no idea how to change it from "Unknown Release Date".

I had the same problem with the new (1.0.3) update.
They are now arranged by release date (which for converted video's is unknown) or the date last modified.
Now, there are two ways you could handle this, you could change a minor thing in the title, then change it back, for ALL of the videos in a season, in reverse ... which would put them in the right order ... but any time you needed to change ANYTHING, you'd have to re-do that ...
    or
You can download "Atomic Parsley" which is a command line program that allows you to change the video's release date, and they are sorted correctly as well as they don't have that "Unknown Release Date" underneath them anymore.
Using a command line program is rather annoying, but I haven't found a better program that does it. I see you use XP, which I do as well. Basically, the easiest way to do this is to download "Atomic Parsley" (do a google search and you'll find it). I renamed the "Atomic Parsley.exe" file to "ap.exe" and put it in my C:\Windows\System32\ folder, so I can run it without typing the path to where I put it.
Then I went to a set of episodes in Windows Explorer. We'll use my "Office" episodes as an example. All of mine were named "S02E01 - _The Dundies_.mp4" (the _ is how itunes does "). I went through and renamed them all so they were like this "S02E01.mp4" (or .m4v).
Then I go to START > Run, and I type =
    ap "k:\iTunes\iTunes Music\TV Shows\The Office\S02E01.mp4" --year 2005-09-21
Then a little MSDOS window should open and show you the progress bar of the process of adding that to the file's TAGs. But while that process is going, I open the RUN dialogue, where the previous run command I just typed is, and I change the E01 to E02, and the date to the date for season 2 episode 2.
Then when they're all done, I delete the old files (Atomic Parsley makes copies where the correct info is), and add the new files to iTunes. You might have to set the Video Type to "TV Show" again, or figure out how to do it with Atomic Parsley and add it to the end of the line you type in the Run command. But now they'll show up correctly in your iPod's list.

  • Hi guys i update my IPOd 4G with the new iOS5 .I made a Backup and I load it but all my Photos are lost how can I get them back ??? thx for Help

    HI guys
    I need help.
I load the new iOS5 and I made an Backup and I load it too,but all my Photos are lost HOw can I get them Back ???
    thx for help !!!!!

Which photos? If the missing photos were synced to the iPod then you have to get them from where you got them the first time. Synced photos are not in the backup that iTunes makes.

No. When you restored the backup of the old computer it wiped out everything on the phone.

  • I have reinstall itunes on mac all my backups are lost how to retrive

i have reinstall itunes on mac all my backups are lost how do i retrive them i did not back up from icloud

Looking in the time capsule preferences, it looks like the name of the disk has slightly changed to add a "3" at the end.  Not sure how to change it back.
When I use airport utility and look at the disk, it says something like half the disk has been used, so obviously my backups are still there.  Just not sure how to re-connect so backups aren't lost or duplicated.

Google.   Such things cannot be discussed on Apple hosted forums.

  • Backup restored, but my settings are lost for firefox.

I formatted my computer, so had to reinstall windows 7 and then firefox 5. I backed up the firefox folder and followed directions to put it in the right folder once firefox was installed again. Despite doing this several times with restarts of firefox and the computer, all my settings (Including bookmarks, addons and themes) are lost. I am back to scratch with a new firefox and none of my saved things.

You should only copy data from a saved profile folder that you really need.<br />

    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox
Also if you restore a full profile folder then you need to replace the file profiles.ini as well, otherwise Firefox won't find that profile or you need to use the Profile Manager to create new profile and choose that copied profile as the location for the new profile.

  • Please clarify the purpose of sync. I thought of it as a backup tool and reinstalled windows and now years of bookmarks are lost. This hurts!

I would like you to please verify the purpose of sync more clearly in the future. I had to reinstall windows and thought I could use sync to save my bookmarks. Now years of bookmarks are lost because the program was not specific in telling me about the recovery keys until it was too late. This put a huge dent in my productivity and really sets me back. I realize that nothing can be done at this point but please clarify this for others so that it doesn't happen again. This really sucks!

  • How do save SHSH blobs and how do you retrieve them?

I have installed IOS 6 and find that it is draining my battery twice as fast as IOS 5.1.1.
I do not like the way it changed the search for APPS in store when you get over 100 replies it takes too long to go through them.
The settings area has changed and is getting too big or not well organized i.e. the new privacy area.
So I was looking into downgrading back to IOS 5.1.1 but it seems not possible if one did not save the SHSH blobs whatever they are.
So can anyone help me on this

... I didn't know that Time Machine was more a last resort back up instead of main back up.
Don't rely upon Time Machine to the exclusion of all else. I compliment Time Machine with a periodic "clone". TM is much better than nothing, but it's a safety net, not a hammock
Here is my understanding of Time Machine's file deletion algorithm, distilled from Pondini's FAQ, Apple's KB articles, and my own observations.
Time Machine deletes ("thins") files from the backup disk as follows:
Hourly backups over 24 hours old, except the first backup of the day
Daily backups over 30 days old, except the first backup of the week
Older backups get deleted when Time Machine requires space and you deleted them from the source disk.
Therefore, assuming TM has been performing at least one backup per day, backup files will remain available:
at least thirty days, if they existed on your Mac for at least a day
until you run out of space, if they existed on your Mac for at least a week
In addition to the above, Time Machine always keeps one complete copy of your source disk so that the entire volume could be restored if necessary. Any files that remain on your source volume will be present on the TM backup, no matter how old they are.
If you are using 250 GB of space on your source disk, its Time Machine backups are likely to require at least twice that much. A good estimate of the minimum required backup volume size would be about three times the size of your source disk - 1.5 TB in your case.
A more thorough explanation would require Pondini since he has plumbed Time Machine's mysteries far more than I have.
