Shuddering of image when exported to Quicktime

I've just edited a 13 minute video. I am experiencing such bad shuddering with the image on export to DVD and Quicktime it really can't be watched. It's been explained to me that it could be the rendering process. Here is what occurred:
1) Video was shot on Panasonic SDR-H80. Standard Def hand held camera. It records onto hard-drive in the camera. Recorded on aspect ratio 16.9. The manual says the 'signal system' is CCIR: 625 lines, 50 fields PAL colour signal.
This camera is not compatible with Final Cut Pro, so...
2) I downloaded MPEG Steamclip to convert EVERY clip into Quicktime movies and imported them into FCP.
3) Settings: Here's what I did:
Easy Set up.
Sequence Preset: DV PAL 48 KHZ
Capture Preset: DV PAL 48 KHZ
Device Control Preset: FireWire PAL (this might be the wrong setting as I imported the files?)
Playback Output Video: None (not sure how this happened)
Playback Output Audie: Default
Edit to Tape/PTV Output Video: None
Edit to Tape/PTV Output Audie: None.
In System Preferences I set my scratch disks to the appropriate folders I set up for the project.
Audio/Video Settings set to: DV PAL 48 Khz (Sequence Preset and Capture Preset). Device Control Preset: Firewire PAL
Video Playback: None (only other option was Digital Cinema Desktop Main - didn't know what this was, so left it)
Audio Playback: Default
In User Preferences I just checked the Render folder and it was set to: Render and Playback for 'Filters' 'Frame Blending for Speed' and 'Motion Blur' and Render 'Playback' 100% and Resolution '100%'
If anyone has any suggestions as to why this 'shuddering' seems to be occuring I'd appreciate your thoughts.
I am based in Australia.

  • Audio doesn't work when exporting to Quicktime

    Hi there.
I've imported a FLV file with audio into a Flash file. When
previewed as a swf, the audio works, but when exported to
"Quicktime Video" (not the "Quicktime" setting) the audio doesn't
    play.
I've double checked my Quicktime settings (ie the audio isn't
Disabled, and i've tried Animation, Video, None and MPEG-4
compression) but the audio still doesn't play.
The weird thing is, if i have a Quicktime movie playing in
Quicktime and then open my Quicktime Video file from Flash then the
audio in the first Quicktime cuts out.
Also in Quicktime the info on the Quicktime Video from flash
says it has a Audio Track with the settings I exported it out as,
but I'm still not getting any audio.
Does anyone know what's going on?
    Thanks in advance

    Anyone?
or is my question not making sense?
    Thanks in advance

  • Display metadata on image when exporting?

I have a client who would like to see a date & time stamp displayed in a corner of all the images when I export them from RAW files. Is this possible in LR 3.4, and if so, can someone please tell me how/where to look? I've been all over it, can't find it.
    Thanks
    Andy

There's a limited capability in the Print module (i.e. using the Print to Jpeg option), though not sure it will allow both date and time. A much more flexible option, which would allow you to do exactly what you want, is the export plug-in LR/Mogrify2.
Don't think LR/Mogrify 2 works in LR5.6. I can't get it to put anything on the image when exporting.

  • IMovie 11 crashes when exporting to Quicktime

iMovie 11 crashes when exporting to Quicktime.  Some people have posted that this problem disappeared when they upgraded from Lion to Mountain Lion.  However, I am running Mt.Lion and it still happens.  If there is no fix for this bug, does anyone know a workaround that will produce the same ultimate result..namely, a Quicktime movie that is not too large to attach to emails.  Apple, please fix this.  Thank you.

Update after two Apple iApps specialists spent 1.5 hours on the phone with me:  There are 3 "poison pills" (that we know of) that will cause the crash if any of the three is part of the movie:  Picture-in-picture, side-by-side, or a circle open/close transition. Otherwise, no crash.  The specialist made a movie on his own computer, containing the poison pills, but he exported to Quicktime without a crash.  There is at least one report in the threads of a problem like mine.  Thus, some Gremlin is causing this, in some computers.  The iApps specialist was curioius to know whether a lot of people have this problem, or only a few.  (If a lot, then it is worth submitting to the engineers to fix.)  He said if you have this problem, call Apple.  I asked if such people should post a "Me too!" on this thread.  He said no, better to call Apple and report it.  So that's the story.  I can live without those poison pills in my export-to-quicktime movies. I am just a consumer, not a pro, and I can live with it.  But it would be nice if Apple could fix this.

  • Build/Transition times off when exported to Quicktime

I have four Keynote presentations I have built, each of which has several Quicktime movies placed on multiple slides (not the same movie multiple times). I then have Keynote text and shape objects "interacting" with the movies as they play. In Keynote, I have set my build and transition times to perfectly match the content of the Quicktime movies.
Example: I have a movie that was captured from my screen wherein I select various menu items. In Keynote, as the various menu items are selected in the movie, I have Keynote text and arrows pointing to the relevant areas of the movies. "Click File...", "...then Save As..." etc. Looks great when presented in Keynote.
When exported to Quicktime (full size, high quality, Sorensen Video 3) the timing gets worse as the movie progresses, to the point that at the end some of my timings are off by almost 10 seconds or more!
Any ideas why this happens? The export to Quicktime is happing on a dual-processor 2.7GHz G5 with 4GB RAM... should be more than adequate!

Cheers for that, Kyn. Funny, I spent about two hours reading through page-by-page all the forum topics to see what issues people were coming acorss BEFORE I posted. Don't know how I missed this one though! Guess I should try searching next time.

  • Final Cut Express FCE Crashes when exporting to Quicktime or Quicktime conv

Final Cut Express FCE Crashes when exporting to Quicktime or Quicktime conversion!
This started completely out of the blue last night. The export gets about 30-50% done and FCE disappears from the screen and the "FCE quit unexpectedly" message pops up. This has never happened before and I was doing exports of this very project all week. All other projects won't expect, the current project won't export when brought into a new file, I tried reinstalling FCE, and I deleted the pref files spoken about in the forum.
    Any Ideas!!!????

    Try repairing permissions and re-boot.

  • Jittery motion with stills when exported to Quicktime

I've been producing photographic AVs with FCE for a few years now and I've run into a problem with the latest version (3.5).
Any time I use keyframes to do a Ken Burns effect it gets all jittery when exported to Quicktime. Everything plays back fine within FCE - it's only when exported that the problem occurs. The problem didn't exist (for me) with version 3. It seems to be exacerbated by adding a transition but it happens even when there's no transition.
Has anyone experienced this or have any idea what I might be able to do to remedy it.
    regards and thanks

That's what you did when you switched the field
dominance to none, but you see you didn't see any
    effect when you did that.
    No, none at all.
I have a fairly major show on Friday night (it's Wednesday pm here now) so I'm thinking I might spend the night redoing it in iMovie. I'm disappointed because I've been doing them in FCE for a few years now and this is the first time I've seen a problem. The only thing which has changed is the jump from 3 to 3.5.
    Many thanks for your suggestions.

  • Why do the pictures/slides look less desirable when exporting to quicktime?

When exporting my slide show to quicktime, or even when exporting the slides as images and importing to imovie, why do they look grainy and pixelated?

everything in iMovie looks grainy, because it's only showing a preview of your movie, not the full quality image. In order to preview correctly in iMovie you have to connect a firewire camera to it, then connect a TV to the camera and turn on the preview function in the iMovie prefs.

  • ID CS hangs on one particular image when exporting to pdf

I use ID 3.01, and have created a two-page folder, with 10 images. I cannot create a pdf, because ID hangs when downloading one image during the export process. It's an 8-bit CMYK Tiff, one layer only, saved without compression. The only thing that makes this image different, is that it has some InDesign text and graphics on top of it. (I tried to remove all the text and graphics, and I also tried embedding the images before exporting, but it made no difference)
The image opens without any problems in Photoshop, and is editable. I have also tried to do a Save As under a new name, which didn't help. The image originates from my Nikon D70, but so do other images too.
The folder is due to be printed on Thursday, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

As this is a camera original file, are its resolution settings in a normal range? I.e., verify in PhotoShop that it's not trying to put >5000 pixels into either 0.1 inch or 5000 inch (your numbers may vary).
I've had ID behave erratically with such files, which was solved when I changed the resolution settings in PS.

  • FCP project not the correct aspect ratio when exporting to Quicktime

    Hello All;
I am trying to export a FCP project in its native resolution (1440 X 1080) to Quicktime but everytime I try, the aspect ratio is messed up and people look taller and thinner than they should.
The project is a resolution of 1440 X 1080 as determined by examining the sequence settings in FCP.
    I configure quicktime (see below) to a resolution of 1440 X 1080.
So why isn't my Quicktime video the correct resolution when I play it with the IMac's Quicktime player ? I shrink the player to 1/2 size to fit it all on the screen.
My exact settings are below ...
    Export - Using Quicktime Conversion
    Format - Quicktime Movie
    Video Settings - Compressor - MPEG-4
    Quality - Best
Not sure if I changed the framerate - if I did, I probably changed it to 29.97
I didn't touch the other settings in the video settings - left them to default
I didn't change the filter settings - I left them at default
Size - 1440 X 1080 (The actual resolution of my source video)
I checked the box - preserve aspect ratio using letterbox (If applicable)
Other settings were left at default
Sound Settings - Format - AAC
    Rate - 48 KHZ
Render Settings - Quality - Best
Target Bitrate - 128 KHZ (This was left at default - I did not change it)
Prepare for Internet Streaming - Fast Start checked (This was default - I did not change it)
All other settings not specifically mentioned were left at default.
    Thanks. Tim

I don't have much of an answer for you, but to test try not checking the preserve aspect ratio. Rather than reexport the entire 1 hour just export 10 seconds so that you can trouble shoot different things.
    Hope that helps a bit,
    Eric

  • Error -61 and -43 When Exporting using Quicktime

I have recently began receiving errors when I try to export using QuickTime. When I try to export to my external hard drive I get an error -61. When I try to export to Documents I get an error -43
These errors began after I had imported a bunch of home videos yesterday which were pretty massive and filled up my hard drive. I then began to delete some of my videos from my Event Library and Projects that I no longer needed.
It was after I did this that I began to experience these errors.
Any tips, suggestions, or advice would be greatly appreciated.

How are you deleting your movies to free up disk space? Are you doing them in iMovie by rejecting them? If so, that's only 1/2 of what you need to do. In the event where you deleted movies, from the pop-up menu at the bottom of the events, choose "Show rejected only" . Then click the button that says "Move rejected to trash" in the top right. You then have to empty your system trash to free up the space.
    Lemme know if that works.

  • Error -50 when exporting to quicktime MPEG-4

    Alright so here's the deal:
I have made a movie (obviously) it plays fine in iMovie, no glitches or anything. Unfortunately since the video files have already been compressed once, I am trying to export it using a setting that will not compress it again. I have found this setting(MPEG-4) under "Export using Quicktime..." and then disable the compression. Everything looks fine until you click save, in which case I get an error -50.
Now I know this is fairly unlikely, but is anyone a super whizz that would magically have a solution to this problem ?

When you are selecting None, you are not turning off compression, you are turning off the video track. That will lead to a -50 error.

  • When exporting to Quicktime, areas in shadows are grainy and pixelated

Shot short film on Canon HD (AH A1) 16:9 24fps. Looks great in the editor, however I cannot seem to figure out the settings to export to Quicktime so that I have a nice clear picture when blown up to large format (50" plasma and larger format, i.e. movie theater screen)
Anything in a shadow looks grainy and pixelated when exported.
I need help with my size, codec, data rate, frame rate etc. If anyone has the magic combination please let me know. I am on a deadline. Thanks!

    Hello Nick Holmes,
    thanks for the reply.
I deleted all the rendering files (using Rendering Manager) from the sequence and I rerender it again using ALT+R.
Nothing has changed. Corrupted pixels are still there.
So I created a new HDV 1080/50i Sequence in which I put only one HDV clip imported from the camera by FCPX.
I exported that in 4 different ways:
    QT Reference Movie – Corrupted pixels;
    QT Movie Self-Contained – The same corrupted pixels as above;
    QT Movie Self-Cont + Recompress All Frames – No corrupted pixels;
QT Conversion to Apple Pro Res 422 – No corrupted pixels but different colors (due to Single Field).
The clip I put in the Test Sequence has not need to be rendered: I can edit and play it natively.
I also tried to export a part of the original sequence I'm working on.
That's odd: parts that needed to be rendered (text) are great, HDV footage has still that issue.
I don't seriously understand. Should I transcode my HDV footage to Apple Pro Res 422 and always use that codec in my future HDV workflows?
    Thanks in advance.
    Alessandro.

  • Trouble with 2nd audio track when exporting to Quicktime - please help!

Ok - I've made my DV movie in IMovie - all ok. When I export to Quicktime the second audio track (an mp3 imported from iTune) jumps up in volume unexpectedly but always in the same place. There is no such jump in the original and I haven't put in any nodes to boost the volume etc.
    Any ideas guys??
