Shuffle disconnects when I try to add music.

Hi! I've tried the 5 steps apple proposes and they haven't helped. Basically, my Ipod shuffle pops in and out of existence in itunes, as if it were connecting and then disconnecting constantly.
When I do get it to stay connected, as soon as I try to add music to it, it disconnects.
Has anyone ran into this problem? Any suggestions? Thanks!

hmmm. it might be worth checking on this possibility (it can sometimes produce similar symptoms):

My husband uses our joint iTunes account on his pc, but once again, has a different collection in his library from those on the other machines. He can't load any music from his PC to his iphone 4. I can load music from my mac library to my iphone 4s, but cannot load from my pc library to my iphone 4s. How can I switch my main library that it syncs with from the mac to the pc?

To prevent a sync when plugging in the iPod/iPhone - hold down the 'option' and the 'command' keys when plugging in the iPod/iPhone - key the keys down until the iPod/iPhone is listed under the Devices list in iTunes - this will prevent a sync from taking place and you will be able to change your settings.

I have same problem. basically Apply have made a pigs ear of the ios5 upgrade, rendering iphone docks useless.

In itune did you play any of the songs downloaded. If so plug your ipod back in an manualy check off to sync all music. If that doesn't work you might have to restore the ipod.

Well, it sounds as if you are trying to violate copyright protections - trying to use music that you purchased for individual use in a way that is not permitted.
The fact that you were able to do this before would not change the fact that it is not allowed.

Itunes encounters an error and needs to close when I try to add music

I just bought a brand new laptop and installed a fresh brand new itunes onto it, but every time I try to add my music, it encounters an error and closes. I uninstalled it, restarted the computer and reinstalled and everything, and it happens every time. I've been using WMP for the time being, but I need my music to be on itunes for my ipod and I just want to be able to use itunes!

Hi,
I had a lot of problems with my itunes, and eventually got my computer to recognise the several attached to it. Now when I download music onto my hard drive and attempt to add folder to library, I get this message "attempting to copy the disk "vista" failed. The filename was invalid or too long" I'm thinking that the Vista part should be the ipod name, but I have no clue what step to take next. Any offers of help much appreciated.

Someone else with this problem said that it was solved when they did some diagnostics on their music files. Once they fixed some that were corrupted, the error went away.

Is the Enable Disk Use option ticked from under the iPod's Summary tab? If not, go ahead and check it. This should help keep your iPod mounted to your Mac as an external drive.
I assume you have tried another USB port as well to see if that makes a difference? Are any other USB devices also connected?
