Shuffle doesn't autofill all songs!

Really annoying.
I have a playlist of 69 songs and it only loads up 67 songs onto my shuffle.
It's not as if the songs are a different format either. Both songs have been purchased from the itunes store and are bona fide apple products but wont frigging autofill...!!!
And before you wonder, I have used only 487MB's of the 1GB capacity.
Yesterday it was fine. But then I updated itunes to the latest version, I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it???
Thanks.

Hi,
No error messages. The songs are checked, it plays perfectly in itunes, but it's as if it doesn't exist when I use autofill.
I've even restored the shuffle and autofilled with just this ONE file. It shows on the shuffle via itunes but STILL doens't play
Really bugging me now as I've paid £9.99 for it and can't play it on my shuffle.

  • Shuffle Doesn't Play All Songs?

I've set up 2 playlists that I like to jog with.  I don't want a predictable order in which the songs play so I select shuffle.  Oops, let me further explain, I run with an app called Runkeeper, its quite popular.  When I go on a jog and record the jog with Runkeeper, it lets me select a playlist which will start when I start recording the jog.  Also, in Runkeeper, I can turn Shuffle on, which I always do.
When I looked at the playlists recently I realized there are some songs that I've only heard maybe once, twice, or not at all.  I've been using the playlists since January and run three times a week.  The playlists are long enough so that I don't go through the entire list in one run.
It seems to me that Shuffle is not doing a very good job at randomizing the song selection.  I'm hearing too many of the same songs and very little of others.  Is there anything I can do to improve the Shuffle selection of songs?  Not having a set order of songs really helps to keep the music fresh.

I thought about it, but haven't tried it yet.  I would mean starting the list, then popping into Runkeeper and starting the jog.  I'm not sure how many runs it would take to verify it was working.
    Work around tip:
How about making a few shorter playlists that fit the time of your run and choose a different one for each run?

  • Smart playlist on iphone doesn't display all songs in "list" view

So first, how I organize my mp3s, so you understand how I do things.
I have one "main" smart playlist that I use. It's only rule is to only include songs that are a part of a certain album.
I then edit every song I want in that playlist to be in that album.
In iTunes, this playlist has 136 songs. When I sync, ALL of them transfer, and ALL of them are on the phone.
When I play the playlist on the phone, ALL of them do play. I can cycle through all 136 of them.
My problem is this: When I enter the "playlist view" (I dont know what it's called, but THIS view: http://i.imgur.com/z4ZIK.jpg ), not all songs display anymore. I used to have all 136 songs displaying, and I could scroll to any of them to play. Now, its split up in chunks. What I mean by that is, maybe 20 songs are displayed, and if the playlist random shuffles to a song in the playlist but NOT part of that 20, that song may be a part of, say, 6 other songs in the playlist, or it may be solo in that view. All the songs still play, all 136, they're all still on the playlist and shuffle WILL play them all eventually, but they do NOT all appear in this "playlist view" (again, I dont know exactly what its called, but I'm talking about this screen: http://i.imgur.com/z4ZIK.jpg ). There also seems to be no pattern as to what songs are displayed. I have no idea why they're seperated in chunks like this.
Why don't all my 136 songs appear on this screen anymore? I thought maybe the phone or itunes is sorting them differently now, maybe by album art or something, so I made sure ALL songs are COMPLETELY IDENTICAL in terms of info aside from song name and artist name. ALL songs have the same artwork, album, album artist, grouping, composer, comments, they are ALL set to "part of a compliation" (I have also tried setting them all to NOT be part of complilation).
All I want is all 136 songs in my playlist to be displayed on that screen. It used to, but as of maybe a few months ago it started doing this. I'm not sure if I explained the problem correctly but that's the best I can do.

Well, the saga continues (some people must be getting a laugh at me talking to myself).
Turns out my PlayList which was supposed to read...
    - Genre is Ambient
    - Media Kind is Music
    - Last Play is not in the last 60 days
    - Limit to 1 hour selected by random
    - Live Updating
... actually said "- Last Play *is* in the last 60 days"
When I changed that and resync'd it worked, however it still doesn't explain why the two playlists (iTunes and iPod) were totally different.
Oh well.  Thanks for being my shrink for the day and letting me vent.

  • "Shuffle" does not play all songs

I have the original iphone that I have had very good luck with. Lately, I've noticed that when using the shuffle feature of the ipod, it only plays some of my songs - for instance, I have 344 songs, but only 316 are playing in shuffle mode. When I take it out of shuffle mode, the little number changes to the actual number of songs I have. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it? The songs being left out are the songs most recently downloaded.

I have the same problem with my iPhone 3GS, without any doubt the shuffle mode is not playing all songs. I have 600 songs, and I only use the shuffle mode. Of these 600 songs:
    - 50 have never been played in 6 months (play counter: 0)
    - 256 have been played less than 3 times
    - 129 have been played less than 7 times.
    - Remaining songs, except from the top 4, have been played from 8 to 79 times.
The first four have been played respectively: 511, 319, 223, and 127 times. There obviously is a bias :\. I've mostly never heard more than half of my playlist (and again: I only use shuffle mode).
If you find a solution, please let me know

  • IPhone: Spotify app playlist doesn't load all songs

Hi Guys, I created a playlist on my computer with at least 50+ songs on it.However, on my iPhone, despite recognising the playlist correctly, it won't recognise all songs!? It only shows 19 songs and then that's it. Does anyone have an idea what's happening and how this can be resolved? Muchos gracias to your helpful insight in advance, swisscub

Hi there, and thanks for the welcome, but I've been a member on here since 27-04-2012. :) I haven't got any local files on this particular playlist, no. It's still only showing 19 tracks... it's definitly way more than 19 in that playlist. Don't know what's causing the issue. It's fine on my PC, just seemed to have "stopped" syncing or recognising more songs on my iphone App. I have even gone as far as already deleting my spotify app and reload ALL my offline playlists back on my phone today.

  • Data disk doesn't play all songs

When I burn a data disk, my JVC auto stereo does not recognize all the songs.  For example, say I burn a data disk with 80 songs.
Sometimes the JVC will recognize the entire 80, but other times it's 16, 44, 51, or any number of the 80.  Different playlist, different number. This is consistent...if it recognizes 18 songs on the first play, it stays at 18...that part isn't random.  What's random is the # of songs recognized.  I've tried different brands of CDs, and the JVC will recognize the same number of a particular playlist, regardless of brand.  All songs on these CDs play fine on my buddy's car player.
I'm guessing this is more of a JVC issue than iTunes, but they won't answer my email queries.  Just curious if anyone else
    has encountered this.
    Carl

    Carl,
Given the consistency, the problem is most likely in the audio format of the songs.  When iTunes burns a data disk, each song is burned in the same format that it is in your library.
If you have all MP3s, there should not be a problem.  However, if you have any oddball formats mixed in, your JVC may not be recognizing them.
If you need to convert any songs, see this guide:  iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format - Apple Support

  • Adding folder to library doesn't add all songs

Long story short, lots of songs disappeared from my library. I think I figured out how to get them back, but it isn't quite working. Dragging the entire Music folder to the library causes iTunes to freeze. Importing each individual CD folder only copies some of the songs -and sometimes none of the songs at all. What's going on, and how can I fix it?

FIrst scan the system for viruses with your antivirus program and scan for malware using Ewido or your prefered spyware?adware scanner http://www.ewido.net/en/
Also try disabling your antivirus program, it my be blocking iTunes from a "Mass scan" or "Mass Writing" if these folders contain alot of songs or afew big songs. It is well known here iTunes doesn't want to get every song when you use the add folder feature in windows for some reason.

  • My ipod starts to sync but doesn't sync all songs error 53 comes up

each time  i try to sync my ipod it puts on any number of amounts onto it 43, 28, 65 songs. i've tried to do the 5 r's but that doesn't do much i can . i can still listen to all the albums on the itunes page so it's got to be the ipod and if i play say ,, vortex next time i go to play it doesn't save it for next time you use it

Jack, thanks for the update, you got the latest software.
Syncing issues can be cause by many situations
Use the USB 2.0 port at the back of your PC and not those at the front and dont use any USB Hub, as they share the data bus transfer resource.
Disconnect all other USB devices while syncing, except the mouse or keyboard.
Winsock has confilcts with iTunes, most of these are in Antivirus and plugins, so stop them, but please disconnect from the Internet.
iPod Hard disk has bad clusters - causing read/write delays - no fix, only recommend replacement.
Good luck on 1-3, if it doesn't work let me know.

  • Nano 6 song list doesn't show all songs actually on disc

iTunes shows my Nano 6 music library list at 1103 songs, I can see them, play them etc ... eject from iTunes and unit shows only 13 albums w/21 songs
    Available space  1.8gb
I don't get it - this is my 4th iPod - I've never seen this problem before.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Manage Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

  • Sync Shuffle on mac - stopping before being done all songs

    Hey,
Whenever I try syncing my new shuffle, with the setting to only sync marked titles, but to do so for all titles and playlists, it stops after a third of the songs and tells me it is done. It just doesn't sync all songs and I am really running out of ideas what else to try.
Has anyone else had that problem yet?

I've noticed this as well, syncing a 3-4 playlists and notice that the sync just stops after awhile. One potential reason why (I think) is that iTunes is counting the size of each playlist and saying "can this fit" without taking into account that the playlists might be containing the same songs.
For example I have three playlists: least played since last year, 50 songs just added, last two months - for a good portion of these playlists they contain the same tracks, however iTunes sort of goes "2gb + 2gb + 1gb = TOO MUCH", when theres actually only 3gb of tunes in total.
    I could be wrong thou...

  • Doesn't seem to be including all songs in shuffle. Repeats same songs

When in shuffle mode, doesn't seem to include all songs in the shuffle.  It repeats the same songs.

Well, seems to me that if the computer is reading other CDs, the lens should not be a problem? If you really think it would help though, I suppose I'll try it.
Since I posted I've tried leveling the computer because I thought that might be an issue, but I think I can rule that out.
Could it be that I need to download some sort of driver update? I don't know when I purchased those Memorex CD-Rs that I'd been using and that worked, but the ones I just bought look a little different, so maybe they are also more advanced in some way?
Maybe 3 or 4 discs that I put in (out of maybe 50) actually did show up on the desktop and when I tried to burn them, started burning as normal. But then about 20 seconds into it, it said something about it not being able to burn.
I have also run Disk First Aid, which told me that there is an invalid PEOF. Could this be creating the problem?
Thanks to anyone who can shed some light...

  • I've purchased several comedy albums on itunes and they're sent to my music file, which I don't like since I like to shuffle all songs. I put the albums in audiobooks but each track is listed seprately instead of by album. Is there a way to fix that?

I've purchased several comedy albums on itunes (or uploaded from my cd collection) and itunes stores them in the music file. I prefer not to have them stored there since I often put my ipod on shuffle all songs and I hate having comedy bits pop up. So I went into "get info" of each track and changed it from music to audiobooks. That transfered everything into audiobooks but when I synched my ipod, I realized that the comedy tracks are all listed individually instead of under their albums. This doesn't work obviously since I want to listen to the album as a whole. I was wondering if there's a way to store my comedy albums in my audiobooks but have them stay in album format. Can anyone help me on this?

Try posting in a more appropriate forum, as this has noting to do with itunes U - the place where University/college/museums post education material.
