Shuffle now responding

My kids both have Nano's and I purchased a shuffle. The itunes with not run my shuffle. I tried installing the software but tells me I must delete the other program first. I do not want to do this as it will delete my kids.
How do I work my shuffle on their verion. No response at all. Program tells me no ipod connected.

When it tells you to delete other programs, they are talking about the other iPod Updaters. And The CD You insert To install your Shuffle will have to do it. Don't be scared of loosing every data . Your kids iPods are fine and it wont affect itunes.
If You want to be sure you don't loose your songs on iTunes, you can always select the Option in iTUNES PREFERENCES named like this in the Advanced Pannel: "Copy files to iTunes Music Folder When adding to Library" And" Keep itunes Music Folder Organized".
This will save all Your Music and videos (if you have Add some into iTunes) On your Hard Disk so when You have to reboot or you Have a problem with Your Computer, you have them, saved already And ready to Get on a save Disk Or External Hard drive.

4th gen shuffle wont respond

My 4th generation shuffle wont respond anymore. when i turn it on it will let me control it for a second then the sound dips and it makes a click sound, at the same time it will blink 3 orange lights. after that no buttons work at all. i got it 6 months ago and I have been using the same headphones the whole time, never dropped it, abused it, in great condition. ive done a restore 3 times now. help please?

also I should add the headphones are from 2004 and very used. they are a pair of Sony earbuds i payed 50$ for.

Using autofill and or draging. some somes wont copy over to shuffle now

for weeks ive been moving some songs from a cd i purchased onto the shuffle. now i get the circle with a slash through it. some songs/playlists copy just fine, others don't now...
ug.... of course i have updated the firmware on the shuffle to the lastest. ha.

oh, and autofill is random at best for working or not.... go figure.

I have a 512 MB Ipod Shuffle, that I have used successsfully for 9 months without a single glitch, until now.
I'm using itunes 6.0.4.2, and the ipod shuffle is running software version 2006 03-23.
I have a Dell PC running Windows XP Pro. The USB port that I plug my Ipod into is fully powered.
When I plugged my Ipod in this morning to update my playlist...my computer recognized it as a new ipod. The name I had given it was no longer there: Instead it read DATARAID. The storage capacity is now listed as 298.1 GB.
When I click on the shuffle icon from within itunes, it claims that it has successfully loaded my entire library (29GB), onto my tiny shuffle. But of course, none of the songs play...instead the two green lights on the front of the ipod flash.
I have searched the discussion databases for helpful advice.
So far I have:
reset my ipod shuffle: didn't work.
I have COMPLETELY removed and reinstalled itunes and the ipod updater following the proper procedures listed in the support database: didn't fix the problem.
I have run Ipod updater and restored my shuffle to "factory settings". The restore completed "successfully", but interestingly the dialog box for the restore lists the capacity of my shuffle as 298.1 GB.: didn't fix the problem.
I also attempted to specify the drive name of my shuffle as was posted to this discussion earlier by going to Disk management within windows. However, my shuffle does not appear in this list. It does, however, appear within Itunes: did't fix the problem.
I would GREATLY appreciate an suggestions about how to fix this problem. Especially, if my flash drive has spontaneously grown to 298.1 GB!
I spend long hours in the dark staring through the barrel of a microscope. Listening to my ipod makes the time pass faster.

is the correct thing to follow, but due to the way the iPod's update and are recognized and unmounted by the computer, there may be additional steps necessary.
Start with the iPod disconnected and all windows closed. Hold down the CTRL and ALT keys on the keyboard and then tap the DEL key to bring up the Windows Task Manager. In the Task Manager, click the Processes tab at the top. Then locate "iPodService.exe" in the list of running processes. Click it, and then click End Process at the bottom of the screen, and say yes to the warning message. Do the same thing with the process called "iTunesHelper.exe".
After that, connect the iPod, and follow the steps from the article linked above. The iPod should be listed in the Disk Management window now. It is likely being assigned a drive letter that is the same as a network volume you are connected to named "DATARAID". Change the drive letter to something far down the list, like X:, but first make sure that the letter you are using isn't already assigned to another drive.
After you have changed the drive letter, go into My Computer, look for the X: (or whichever one you chose) drive and right click it, and hit Eject. Once the light on the iPod shuffle stops flashing, disconnect the iPod and restart the computer. After restarting, open iTunes, and reconnect the iPod. It should show up properly now.

From what you've written I'm not entirely sure what your actual problem is, but if it's that the touchscreen isn't responding then have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Cleaned cache then get firefox now responding tried following directions still got message tried to uninstall but still got same message Help

I cleaned cache like I have done before. Then when I tried to use firefox, I got the firefox is running but not responding. tried following directions to do the profile fix, but when I tried to click on the firefox tab, I got the running but not responding message. Soooooo could not even try to uninstall because of getting the same error message. Get error message if I tried the safe mode start. Tried restarting, shut down and start. still same message.

Got a new shuffle, now iTunes can't detect my old Mini

I am running iTunes 5.0.1 (Max OS X) with my iPod Mini. Yesterday I bought a Shuffle to use while running/biking. I had read it was possible to run two iPods off the same machine. I put my new Shuffle in the USB slot, after it was detected - I named it and filled it up with some songs from my existing iTunes library and it works fine. The only problem now is iTunes no longer detects my iPod Mini anymore when i connect it via Firwire. Same deal even when i eject & unplug the shuffle and re-attach the Mini. I've tried updating software, re-starting etc. still no success. Any advice or is this a hopeless cause?

Try calling AppleCare at 1-800-APL-CARE and try to reset your password to you old AppleID through them, Give them your MacBook Pro's serial number to avoid having to pay for phone support. You may have run out of options to reset your password youself, but they may be able to override you hacker's attempt to keep you out by having you verify billing info stored on the old Apple ID. Any content purchased with that old Apple ID will have to be authorized for playback on your new MacBook Pro with the original Apple ID and password that was used to purchase said content. To my knowledge there is currently no way of transfering ownership of content from one AppleID to another, however after you get your old Apple ID sorted out, you may be able to change the main email to one of your own and change your password to one thats tough to crack to avoid going through this terrible experience again.

3rd gen shuffle not responding

the problem with my 3rd generation shuffle is that when i turn it on the green light stays on for about 10 seconds and after that the orange light blinks 3 to 5 times. the problem is the ipod doesn't respond to any comand. it won't change the song or volume. this problem came up out of nowhere and is incredibly frustrating. please help!

But if I had to guess, I would say your headset is probable bad. I take it you don't happen to have an extra headset to test with?

Upgraded iPod firmware -- songs always shuffle now

This is very odd. I've had my Nano since they first hit the Apple Store shelves and never had a problem until now. However, I updated the firmware just yesterday and now all of the songs in albums and playlists shuffle, even though shuffle is turned off. This is driving me nuts -- has anyone else had this happen?
Does anyone know of a way to turn this off?

just doublechecking. is that the shuffle setting in your settings menu that is set to off?
if so, does toggling back and forth through songs, albums, and off a few times (ending with off) help with the unwanted shuffling?

By formatted do you mean a low level filesystem reformat of the Shuffle's flash storage using the reformat option available in Windows (and NOT iTunes)?
Does the iPod still appear in iTunes when you connect it? If so, are you sure have content synced to it?

i charged my shuffle for 4 hours and it wont play the music i have on there. i have tried resetting it ect and all it said in the manual but it still wont work. DOES ANY1 KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS? I HAVE GONE TO THE SUPPORT PAGE AND IT HAD TOLD ME NOTHING.

i had a problem like this. i'd put music on my ipod and nothing happened when i listened to it. i was told (when i took it back to where i'd bought it) that i had to get a new one, which i did. If you're warranty is still good, i'd return it and get a new one; i haven't had that problem with the one i have now.
(Anyway, hope that helped you out a little...having ipod problems makes me want to scream and throw things.)

Why is my scroll wheel now respond backwards

Please help me, I updated from 10.6 to 10.7 and im going to throw my computer through a window. I have tried a microsoft mouse and a logitech mouse both scroll wheel respond in the oposite way they use to, scrolling away is now down and scrolling towards is up.

You'll get used to it.
But if you don't, or don't want to, it's easy to put it back the way it was:
Go into System Preferences->Mouse and un-check the box next to, "Move content in the direction of finger movement when scrolling or navigating"

My Shuffle wont respond AT ALL!

i was using my iPod shuffle as a portable hard-drive for some programs to put them onto my laptop and when i told it to disconnect from my dell it did but when i put it into the laptop it froze and wasnt recognized. i pulled it out and looked at i turned it on but the light was orange and too dim to see unless u covered the shuffle with ur hands. so now it wont charge and isnt recognized at all someone please help me i cant live without my music!

dude try to hold button for 3 seconds with it on this will reset the darn thing then make sure that you have new update then run updater this will download in about 5 hours ..... rerun updater from start panel hit restore make sure that you use disconnect button in taskbar tray if you do not it wont work i spent 4 days on 2 of them without this page i would have never got mine to work about put them under weels of car. this worked for me hope it helps

The tunes installed on the Ipod won't play and when I run the diagnostics, it says the Ipod is not connected?

I can not use the new Itunes. I have managed to erase my shuffle and can not get any songs from my library onto my ipod shuffle now!!!!!! Tutorials do not help!!!!

Ineed a manual to use the new Itunes. The simple easy to use version is gone. The new version is TOO complicated !!!!!!!
