Shuffle resets on 6th Generation Nano
I like to listen to my playlists on shuffle, but I don't like to hear the same song too frequently. On my 6th gen iPod Nano, my shuffle resets itself if I let it power down. In other words, I might turn off my iPod with the track listing reading "23 of 100," and when I turn it on in the morning, the song I was listening to is queued up to exactly where I left off, but the track listing reads "1 of 100." I never had this problem on the 4th or 5th gen Nanos. Any ideas on how (or if) this can be fixed?

Does the 2nd generation Nano's shuffle settings give preference to most frequently-played songs?
No.

My IPod 6th Generation Nano isn't shuffling. I press the shuffling choice on play music. The same song plays over and over again. What do I need to do?
It sounds like the Repeat setting has been turned on/enabled. See your iPod's User Guide for information on how to disable it.

6th generation nano is stuck in diagnostic mode
Hopefully this will help you. Try placing your iPad in recovery mode again. You may have to try this a few times.

I updated iTunes and now my 6th generation nano can't be properly recognized now.
I recently updated my iTunes after holding off for a bit and now my 6th generation Nano wn't be recognized in iTunes but is recognized on the computer.
The message I get is this "An iPod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPod, then try again."
I did this and still get the same message.
I found this article on the apple website http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3218 which specifically deals with this problem. I went through all the steps including uininstalling and installing iTunes and still nothing.
I called apple but they told me I need to buy some 20 dollar phone help plan in order to even talk to anyone since I bought it back in 2010. I won't be doing this.
Can someone plase help me!!Try resetting the Nano with it still connected to a high powered USB 2.0 port on your PC. To reset the iPod, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

I have a 6th generation nano. The playlist will no longer advance on it's own. I must manualy advance after each song. How do I reset so that it will advance on it's own?
Make sure you don't have the repeat option turned on, it looks like 2 arrows that make a circle. If that doesn't work try taking your playlists off your ipod and putting them back on.

My 6th generation nano just quit and won't charge. Is there any way to reset? I charge it at least once a week. It shouldn't have been completely out of charge.

Why my 1st generation nano earbuds not working with 6th generation nano?
Hi there,
I had a 1st generation iPod Nano and Apple just replaced it with a 6th generation nano, however the earbuds jack of my 1st gen does not fit all the way into the 6th gen, it leaves a tiny bit outside and I couldn't push it all the way in, though I could hear sounds through the earbuds. Is there anyone out there that experience this? I thought the earbuds connector is universal.
Also, I'm not sure if this is related to the earbuds not fitting all the way in. My new Nano shuts itself off about 1 minute or 2 after I turn it on, I am thinking it may think there is no earbuds connected to it, could this be why?
Thanks for any help!
Ray.Push harder, the headphone jack on the 6 is very tight when new.

My 6th generation nano isn't recognized by my computer. When I plug it in an error message pops up, which says "USB Device Not Recognized". Does anyone know how to start trouble shooting this? I updated both windows and iTunes.
Work through all the suggestions in this Apple support document first.
iPod: Does not appear in Windows or iTunes and Device Manager is empty

I want a soundbar for my 6th generation nano but am having trouble finding a compatible device. I'd like more than a dock, ideally a soundbar with wireless subwoofer. I'll only use the soundbar for music, not TV home theater. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Recommendations for non-headphone microphones for the 6th generation Nano?
Does anyone have recommendations for a microphone for the 6th generation nano that is NOT part of a headphone set? (Think of things like the older third-party products for past nanos or ipods).
Thank you! Here is a good one.

My 6th Generation Nano Shuts down my Thinkpad, I've tried uninstalling iTunes, turning off auto sync'ing and restoring my ipod, but every time I plug in my iPod, my whole pc goes blue and then reboots in safe mode. Please Help. Thanks.
Hello kidmango,
I am going to have to agree with planb77. Look into other drivers in your computer causing the issue, not just the nano's drivers.
It is possible that security software is the culprit. Use this:
iTunes: Troubleshooting security software issues
You may have to restore your computer to a previous point. From before the issue started. Contact computer manufacture or Windows for steps, or do a search with a search engine.
I would test the ipod on a known good computer to see if its the ipod is the issue. My gut says no. You can set a reservation at an Apple Retail Store. Apple.com/retail .You can also test a known good ipod on your computer.
Hope this helps.

hi i just got a 6th generation nano and im trying to transfer music from my old ipod which a 3rd generation ipod can someone help?plz thankz
There is no way to transfer ipod-to-ipod. Look for a 3rd party program, such as Yamipod, that will let you pull the music from your old iPod to your computer.
You really should be backing up your data on your computer. -
My 6th generation nano will not sync music from itunes anymore
My 6th generation nano will not sync music from itunes anymore.
could you give us a bit more detail on the situation, Eeve?
is it that the songs say that they're transferring, and appear on the ipod screen in itunes, but when you unplug the ipod they aren't on there? or is something a bit different going on?
(if you're getting an error message, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.) -
second 6th generation nano..again with the same problem..screen is black will not turn on but am able to touch screen and get music/radio to play...able to touch around on screen from memory..nano is recognized in itunes and computer..but screen will not turn on..called customer support today..of course out of warranty but was told that it sounds like my backlight is burnt out and that's all i need fixed, told that it shouldn't be that expensive (live in myrtle beach SC) and that my screen is fine since i am able to touch around on it...any thoughts?
thanks to all for any advice or input..will try to take to local icitymac store in next couple of days
jennReplacing the backlight usually requires replacing the entire front LCD/digitizer. And yes, it sounds the backlight has burned out.
Keep in mind that if you go the Apple route, they won't actually repair the iPod, but instead will do an out of warranty exchange meaning your current Nano will be replaced with a refurbished model of the same capacity and generation.

Why won't Apple admit the problem with 6th generation nano power button?
The power (sleep) button on the 6th generation nano is obviously faulty and poorly designed. Why won't Apple step up and make it right and issue a recall to fix or solve the issue so many people are having? Apple, do you hear us? Make it right! You know it's wrong! If a power button fails after a couple of years, that's a sad design. Shame on you!
No, they don't hear you posting here. My button is working fine after 3 years.
This is primarily a user-to-user technical support site. You've wasted your time here.
Go down to Contact Us at the bottom right, get Apple's address and right them a letter.
