Shuffle shows up on laptop, but not desktop comp

so my moms shuffle shows up on her laptop, but when plugged into the comp at home, it shows up on the computer until itunes pops up, it then asks if we want to do somethin with the library, we click no and then there is nothing.. i thought it was the port, so i plugged in my ipod video and it worked fine.. ne one know whats going on?? thanks in advance for helping

Well, I figured it out. In case someone else experiences this problem, here's what I did:
Channel was set to "automatic" and changing it to "1" fixed it the problem.

Officejet All In One 6600 - Print from all Laptops but not Desktop

I got this printer for Xmas and have spent hours trying installing, reinstalling using Scan/Print Doctor software, etc. I run a home network through Uverse Gateway. The router is a 2Wire 3800HGV-B. I am not runing a firewall on my desktop just A/v Avira. I can ping the printer successfully from my laptop, but just can't print to it, Running Win 7. Connected to network through Ethernet cable to router.
The printer is gryed out. When I go to device manager I find that it has a Code 28 stating driver is not installed. When I try and install the basic driver the OJ6600 exe file just hangs on Checking Netowork Environment.
In one of my previous installations I did get it to work through a USB cable, but find it totally impractical (distance) and part of the whole reason we got a wireless. I now save docs on flash drive, take them to Laptop to print. Have called support with no luck. Most recently changed ports, but realize something does not allow the driver to install which I can not figure out.

OK, print off a network configuration page.
Press the Power button ( ) to turn on the product.
Touch the Right Arrow ( ) to display the second navigation screen.
Touch Setup ( ).
Touch Network .
Touch the Down Arrow ( ), and then touch Print Network Configuration.
NOTE:
Your product's printed configuration page might look different than the example in the following figure.

After this open Internet Explorer and in the address bar type in the IP address it gives you on the network configuration page, and then hit enter.
This will bring you to the printers EWS. Once you're on the page go to the tools tab, and then scroll down and select print self-test page.
Let me know if it prints the test page out.

Podcast PDF's showing up on iPhone but not desktop iTunes

Our church publishes a podcast from Sermon Studio (studio.sermon.net). We include mp3 audio and a PDF with message notes. These PDFs show up in the Podcasts iPhone app but not in iTunes under subscribed podcasts. Any idea why?

Oh, I forgot to mention that music seems to automatically download just fine whenever I buy a song off of my iPhone. Another thing is, the movies were all bought off of my iPhone.

I need glasses w/laptop but not desktop

Can anyone explain this? I absolutely must wear glasses to read anything on my 17' laptop, yet when I use the desktop at work I can read even the tiniest typeface. However, with the laptop at work, once again I must wear glasses to see anything clearly. Why are laptops blurry and desktops clear?

It may be the desktop is brighter than the laptop so your pupils go to a smaller aperture setting, thus more depth of field and sharper image.

External Hard Drive showing in Disk Utility - but not desktop.

A little background:
Yesterday, I moved my shelf where I have my modem, Airport Extreme, Airport Express and an external HD connected to the extreme to be a wireless HD for all users to access. Everything worked great - no problems whatsoever.
Problem: I have reconnected everything exactly as it was and reconfigured it as it was and now the external HD is having issues. When connected to the extreme, I can see it in the airport utility, but cannot gain access to it in that way. When I connect directly to my macbook, it is recognized by the disk utility, but does not appear on the desktop.
I don't know if this may have caused the problem, but I carelessly, unplugged the power bar for which all the above mentioned hardware plugs into when moving the shelf. Now, everything works as it did, except I can't get the express to show up once it is configured (but this isn't surprising as I had to fight with it the first time I configured it - not uncommon I am told), and the HD is no longer accessible via the network, or when directly connected to my macbook.
Help! According to the utilities, the data is still on the disk, I just can't access it in any way.

From the Disk Utility, select the drive and click on the Repair Disk(not Repair Permissions) button. If the Disk Utility finds a problem it can't fix, DiskWarrior or TechTool Pro will likely succeed.

Can connect with laptop but not desktop

The desktop that i have the router wired to can't connect to the router's homepage or the internet, although i can get a response if ping the router's ip. However, I can connect to the net wirelessly with my laptop. What gives?

Firefox stopped working on laptop but not desktop, have completely uninstalled and reinstalled but it still won't work, please can anyone help as i hate using IE.

the program was working fine then suddenly wouldn't connect to anything. have unistalled everything including passwords, add-ons etc and reinstalled but still no joy.

So, you can uninstall it from the Control Panel in Windows.

Mail password refused with laptop but not desktop.

Can anyone help? My intel macbook suddenly started giving me messages"The POP server “mail.talktalk.net” rejected the password for user “Andy Smith”. This is really weird as my desktop, an intel iMac has no such problem and connects immediately using the same info.

Your Keychain may be slightly corrupted, so try opening Keychain Access > Keychain First Aid and run that, which may fix the problem. If it doesn't (you have to test it by restarting Mail and trying to connect first), then go into the Password > Internet section of Keychain Access, find that password and delete it.
Then try connecting again and when you're prompted for the password for that account, enter it and check to the box to save it in the Keychain. That should fix it for certain.

External Hardrive shows up in Utility but not on desktop

Hi folks. External hard-drive that used to show up fine (and was formatted for Mac prior to original use) does not show up on desktop or utility on my laptop. However, when I try it on a different computer it does show up on Utility but not on desktop. I ran "verify disk" in utility and it says it "appears to be ok." The firewire ports on the aforementioned computers, as well as firewire cable work fine with other devices. Finder is set to show external drives. Advice? Thank you.

By "utility" I assume you mean Apple's Disk Utility. If so, what is its version number & modified date shown on the affected Mac in Finder's "Get Info" box?
Are both computers (I assume they are both Macs) running the same version of Disk Utility & of the Mac OS? On the computer that recognizes the drive, what does Disk Utility say is the *partition scheme* of the drive? (This will only be shown if you select the drive & not the volume name indented under it in the device list on the left.)

I have a Rocketfish mini display port to VGA adaptor cord for a macbook pro, it was working fine the first week, now it does not show what I am seeing on my laptop on my lg Flat screen tv. It only shows the space background but not any icons. Any help??

It seems as though though it may be a connection issue, possibly hardware or adapter. Make certain the connections are TIGHT.
For software you may try a smc reset:
Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.
Try a pram reset:
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Option, Command (⌘), P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on your Mac.
Immediately press and hold the Option-Command-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears. Continue holding the keys down until your Mac restarts, and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
If no joy you can take it in to an Apple store genius bar for a free evaluation make an appointment first.

I cannot access itunes on my pc it works on my laptop but not on my desktop. It used to work and no longer does it just keeeps trying all the time but doesn't connect. I have tried apple suggestions but still not accessing store. Help?

I have been using this desktop for itunes for years. Never any problems. Recently I cannot access the store it keeps trying but does not load. I can access form my laptop but not from the desktop. I get automatic updates form microsoft so the system is up to date. It is very frustrating and means that I haven't and ups to date library on my desktop and I play my music on this whn I'm upstairs. Can anyone help me with this one?

Never mind, I think. I think I figured it out. There was 1 song (out of > 900!) that somehow had been purchased with the other ID - I have no idea how. Once I deleted that song, it stopped asking.
There may be something with the newest iTunes version too. I didn't think in older versions that the "On this iPod" list of songs was greyed out. But at least it syncs ok.

Reinstall the operating system from the dvd (you will not loose your data)

USB shows up in Finder but not on Desktop

When I insert a USB memory stick in my mba, it shows up in Finder but not on the the desktop. I've searched the forums and Internet and have not found out why this is or how to resolve it.
Any suggestions?

In a way, they are the same, or it should be said, "refers to the same". The dock icons launch applications (Finder is an application). However, Finder launches itself in a full-screen desktop view configuration when the OS loads, automatically. That way, you have immediate access to a desktop Finder window to choose a task to perform or to open a file. You can also open additional "sessions" or windows of Finder to perform tasks such as copying, using the Dock icon to perform the task of opening a new window or instance of Finder.
At the top is the menu bar for wahtever application is running in the foreground. As Finder is running in the foreground, when the OS loads, you have immediate access to a Finder menu. In that menu is a Preferences panel for Finder. It is within this panel that you set up the manner in which Finder will display and work. As such, you check which objects will appear on the destop automatically. One of these choics is whther to display external drives on the Desktop finder window.
