Shuffle when in Grid or Coverflow View

So I have my collection set to display in either grid or coverflow views, and when I want to shuffle through one playlist, I cannot get that to happen. If I go to the top and select shuffle under controls and put it to album, it will not shuffle that album. When I set it to shuffle by groupings, it will shuffle all the albums by a single artist, but not only a single album. If I have 3 albums, I only want to listen to one, but I want it to shuffle that one. Does anyone have a solution to this? Thanks.

glad to know that switching to list view is a quick fix for the time being.
i'm not sure what the cause is, but it seems like the search field is being cleared periodically. perhaps when iTunes updates podcasts? i have no confirmation of that, though. however, skipping ahead through a filtered list on shuffle works fine, but letting it play over a period of time always results in jumping back to the full library.
i've also noticed that the search field is cleared any time that you view another source (even in list view). this didn't used to be the case, and although that behavior is probably classified as a feature not a bug, i'm guessing this buggy behavior is directly related.

  • Music videos in coverflow view

OS X 10.6.3, iTunes 9.1. I have multiple music videos by the same artist (Gorillaz). Suddenly, in Coverflow view they all show the same album art (the same frame from one of the videos). They initially had the Album set to " _" without the quotes (note the space). I changed this setting for all of them to be blank but that didn't help. I also have two Diana Krall videos. One displays the song title but the other one doesn't even though both have correct titles defined in their settings. Each Krall video displays its correct album art (a frame from the video). But one Krall video has no album defined and the other one has " _" as the album.
I don't know when this weird behavior started, but I just noticed it. What's going on? Any suggestions to fix it?

iTunes sees all tracks with the same Album name and same Artist/Album Artist value as belonging to one album and will display the artwork of the first track (earliest imported into the library) in the grid or coverflow.
My preference for music videos is to label the video as if it is simply another track on the album it comes from. I also paste in the correct album artwork in addiition to any already there and then use the Artwork tab in the Get Info. dialog to make this the first (left most) piece of art.
If you want each video to display individually in the grid or coverflow views then each will need a distinct Album name, e.g. use the Video title instead as the Album name or append the word \[Video\] if the track & album already share the same name.
See http://samsoft.org.uk/iTunes/grouping.asp for general advice on organising in iTunes.

  • ITunes 7.1.1 freaking out on coverflow view

Like the subjact says, I downloaded 7.1.1 last night, and now when I go into coverflow view (windowed or full screen), when the mouse is over the window, it starts freaking out and counting down (jerkilly, not smoothly) all the way back to the first album.
Does anyone know what the problem is?

    Philip Henry,
What type of mouse do you have, it should say on the bottom?
Can you test with another mouse?
    Thanks,

  • Problem with coverflow view on itunes

recently ive been having quite a lot of trouble with itunes and ipods. ive had two replacement 80gb classics and am wondering if the problem could be my itunes. Ive tried uninstalling all of the components and reinstalling but the coverflow problem persists. Everything works normally on itunes but when i switch to coverflow view and scroll through the album covers, it also flows through the track thats playing. I would normally just disregard this problem and work around it but i am wondering if there could be a problem with my itunes causing my ipod problems. (the first ipod would only sync around 500 songs and then freeze, the second just had a hardrive failure) any help would be greatly appreciated

    hmmm.
reinstallation should not remove your apps and stuff, but one never know
is the size and all the codecs settings correct?

  • Coverflow view issues

I just upgraded to Windows 7 and got Itunes up and running and everything seems fine. Playlists are restored, all music accounted for, etc.
My only issue at this point is when I go into Coverflow view, the area in Itunes where the album artwork is displayed is just a big black square.
I've tried some settings and searched for fixes, but so far have been unable to resolve the problem.
Any suggestions anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

I figured out what the issue was with this. It turns out that I couldn't turn on accelleration on my video card because it was outdatad. To check this run dxdiag and look at the display tab. You will see the directdraw accelleration. If this is off, turn it on. If it say's 'not available' see if you can upgrade your driver.
But...if you are like me, the video card was just outdated. I bought a new video card for around $35, installed it and presto...coverflow is working perfectly.

  • Artwork does not appear on the grid or coverflow.

Artwork does not appear on the grid or coverflow for several albums but appears in the artwork viewer when you play a song from the album.  How do I get the artwork to appear?  The artwork seems to be missing for albums that I believe were on a playlist that was selected when the external hard drive storing the music was not connected to the laptop.

Went to the apple store.  They gave me an easy way to copy existing artwork to the first track as only the first track was apparently missing artwork on the affected albums.  When I got home I found an easier way to restore the artwork simply by selecting "Get Info" for one of the songs on the album.

  • Can iPod Classic 80G use coverflow view?

I bought a used iPod Classic 80G, and I restored it to its original settings, and i have the latest softwere version, wich is 1.3. I have basicaly 2 questions:
    1) When i'm using my iPod can i search my musics with coverflow view? I know that the new ones can, so i would like to know too if apple intends to distribute the new softwere for iPod classics that would include feutures like genius playlist and coverflow view.
    2) I got used to coverflow on my iTunes library, but i can't use it when i'm looking at my musics on the iPod in the computer. I can't even view as grid, and i'm stuck with view as list. The question is, am i really stucked as view or is there a way to view it sorted by albuns?
    Tanks for the help

It's not a "Classic" - the latest firmware for the 80/16Gb iPod Classic (i.e. 6th gen.) is v 1.1.2. You have a 5th generation iPod. Menu options are what you've already seen. There are no prospects for Cover Flow or any other graphically enhanced menus on your iPod.

  • Edited name not shown in coverflow view

I'm using iTunes 7 with no problems at all. When I purchase music, I capitalize every word in the tracks' titles. On one album I purchased today, however, the edited name doesn't display capitalized in coverflow view. It display correctly in list view and in the lower left corner of the screen with visualization turned on. I've tried restarted iTunes and I've tried using Onyx to clear our the application caches and restarting my MacBook Pro. Nothing's worked so far. Any suggestions?

    Thanks for the "help".

  • Can one organize a playlist in the grid or artist view in iTunes 11?

can one organize a playlist in the grid or artist view in iTunes 11, i.e visually? the playlist as just a list of songs/ artists is a hopeless & very frustrating way to orgaize a list of maybe 30 songs/ artists that i might have downloaded in one session. or do the boffins at mac have that kind of brain numbing memory capacity?

hi, yes i use that, but what i'm asking is can i drag the songs into the order i want when i have grid or artist list. in artist list it just lists alphabetically, it does not list in playlist order. it seem s to me that only in 'list' view without images that i can drag songs around, which is useless.
    thanks

  • Anyone having problems with CoverFlow view in iTunes 8?

Okay I've heard some rumors about iTunes 8.0 on Windows having errors in CoverFlow view with music, music video, TV show, audiobook and movie related album artwork not showing up correctly. I am writing to ask if anyone has noticed a problem like this on iTunes 8.0 for Mac?
Everything still seems to be working fine for me in iTunes 7.7.1 as much as I'd like to upgrade to iTunes 8.0 don't want to risk problems developing. CoverFlow works just fine for me on my Mac Mini running OS X Tiger 10.4.11 within iTunes but don't want to risk upon upgrading to iTunes 8.0 it causing problems.
Every time a major new update to iTunes or other software by Apple comes out it can cause problems. I remember when I installed iTunes 7.0.0 afterwards iTunes kept crashing as soon as I tried to open it. I know there are problems on the Windows side but don't want to risk messing with my existing iTunes software if it breaks, or any feature within it like CoverFlow breaks down.

you should just reinstall it again, usually it fixes bugs on its own.

  • Adjusting volume from coverflow view

When I"m playing an album in coverflow view can I adjust the volume? I can't figuer out how

    no you can't

  • Coverflow view bug

In coverflow view, when you encounter a song without an entry in the album field,
it shows as Unknown Album. Fine, but then when you flip it over, it includes EVERY song with no album entry.
I don't think this is intentional.....

    It's not a fault, it's a feature!
Well, I don't really subscribe to that view, but your issue is a subset of a bigger design flaw, namely the failure to fully implement the Album Artist field and identify individual albums (within iTunes & iPod) by unique combinations of Album Title & Album Artist. If you look closely you'll probably find you've a "Greatest Hits" album in coverflow. Flip it over to find the tracks and it will have every track from every Greatest Hits album you have. Until Apple take this flaw on board and fixes it the only thing you can do is trawl through the libray giving each album a distinct title. E.g. "Artist, Greatest Hits" or "Greatest Hits (Artist)". FYI iTunes will also ignore a leading "The " when comparing names so "The Album" matches with "Album". From this you can see that all the untitled albums will be treated as one in CoverFlow. Simplest solution is probably to go for "Untitled #1", "Untiled #2" etc. Another annoyance related to this is that compilation albums are usually credited to the artist of the first track rather than whatever value you put in the album artist field.
Daft question, but don't any of Apple's programmers use thir own product? This fault/feature is so obvious & irritating I can't see why it is ignored.

  • When I login to Horizon View, it shows me the list of desktops to connect to. If I'm entitled to only one desktop then can View auto connect me to that desktop instead of me clicking on Connect?

When I login to Horizon View, it shows me the list of desktops to connect to. If I'm entitled to only one desktop then can View auto connect me to that desktop instead of me clicking on Connect.

    Yes you certainly can.
Right click any desktop in the list > Settings > in the left pane select the desktop you want to auto connect to > check "Auto connect to this desktop".

  • HT1665 There is a bug in the spellchecking functionality when typing in the web view or while using Blogsy App. Why? Why my IPad crashes so often?

There is a bug in the spellchecking functionality when typing in the web view or while using Blogsy App. Why? Why my IPad crashes so often?

I have always found spell check to be "buggy" in every version of all of the iOS's that I have run on my original model iPad and my new iPad - especially when replying and typing posts in these forums. It works perfectly in every other application on my iPad but it has never worked perfectly in any web browser that I have used on my iPad - no matter what I have done to try to correct it. That is what MY experience has been with spell check on my iPads.
As for the crashes on your iPad try these basic troubleshooting steps.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Quit all apps and restart. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
