Shuffle won't autofill or load iTunes - won't authorise computer

I bought a Shuffle yesterday and downloaded half a dozen songs from iTunes. They appear in my Music folder fine, and one has transferred, but it won't transfer the rest to my iPod either by autofill or dragging. If I try and play them, I get a message saying my computer is not authorised to play them, but if I then authorise it, it makes no difference and the same message comes up. My ex-husband had a Nano that he used on this computer. I have used a different email address for my account, but the old one still appears in the authorisation box, even though I have completely removed the programs and reinstalled them. I have tried deauthorising, but nothing makes any difference. So I have tunes that I can't play anywhere or sync on my Shuffle - HELP!

I had a similar issue, my 2nd Gen ipod shuffle that has been working fine for years did not show up in Itunes (I got a Windows message saying my USB device was not recognized).  This issue started after I installed the latest version of itues, 11.2.0.115.  I found this and it solved my problem.

Go to step 2 Restart the iPod Service.
I just stopped the ipod service and then started it again, now my shuffle shows up in itunes just like it used to.

Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you have installed iTunes on your new computer, make sure you have downloaded or copied the songs to the new computer as well. The steps in this article can help with copying your music to a new computer:

When you buy your new iMac you will be able to have the installation process transfer all your applications, data (including music, pictures, documents, etc) and settings to your new computer. In the past that was done via Firewire. I'm not entirely sure of the process with the new iMacs that don't have firewire. I think it can be done via ethernet and probably via tha thunderbolt cord using a firewire adapter but you'll want to check that out.
With the your new computer properly connected to your old computer, the initial booting of the new computer will include the ability to move everything over.
If for some reason you don't want to do that (smart if you have some horrible software issue that is causing problems) you can connect your old computer to the new one and start it in Target Disk mode where it will be seen as a hard drive. You can then manually copy over all your music and import that into iTunes (and any other data you want).
Somebody here will surely point you to directions for connecting an older iMac with no Thunderbolt to a newer iMac with no Firewire.

  • Itunes with shuffle won't open, computer stopped recognizing shuffle

    Here's the story:
Yesterday my itunes wouldn't open. I double click it- itunes 8 won't open up, this is out of the blue because prior attempts it's working fine. No new programs installed- only antivirus software is running.
I connected my shuffle- 1st generation shuffle- it's still working- songs are playing.
I put in the original ipod CD- it says my ipod needs to be reformatted, my intention is to reinstall itunes.
As it's reformatting my ipod shuffle an error box pops up, and the computer freezes.
When I reboot and try connecting the ipod shuffle- it says firmware not updated or when i run the "ipod updater" 2005-1-11 it says invalid ipod service version.
So i download itunes the latest version from the itunes site- and i reinstalled it. when i double click to open itunes- the computer will process for 1 second, but then itunes won't open.
when i reinstalled itunes with the version that came on my original ipod cd- itunes opened up great (green browser version) but i couldn't upload songs onto the ipod shuffle- it would say error.
so i went to the website- it said under troubleshoot to reinstall the latest version of itunes- so i did that with 8.0.2.20.
When i hook up my shuffle- under my computer- the drive is just blank.
And now when I double click itunes to open- no browser opens.
ideas? it was all working fine just days ago.

when i uninstalled itunes- and reinstalled it using the original cd it came with- itunes worked (it was the green browser version)
but using the old version of itunes- when i tried to upload songs to the ipod- it would say error.

  • Loaded itunes on a new computer, and synced ipad.  Now only those few songs I had on the ipad are in my library.  But all of my ipods (3) have my full music library.  How do i get all my songs moved back into my library from one of my ipods?

I installed itunes on a new laptop, with Windows 8, and synced my ipad.  Now my music library has only those few songs I had synced to the ipad, or roughly a quarter of my original library.  My ipods (all three) still have the full library, but everytime I try to sync them, I am asked if I want to delete all of the contents and replace with the (much smaller) itunes library.  Of course I don't, but how do I "reverse sync" and replace all the music contents of my library with the contents from one of my ipods?

  • Old Ipod sync/wipe with itunes prompts to authorise computer for old purchases but it's authorised?

My itunes on my new laptop is totally up to date so I went to sync my ipod classic with it. Meaning I think a complete wipe and sync.
During syncing it found songs on my ipod that I had purchased in itunes store, but were not in my library and it asked if I wanted to transfer those songs to my itunes library....yes I did!
But then it said my laptop needed to be authorised - even though it already was...now I'm not sure if I have those songs transfered at all?
Also if I purchased the songs arent they always in my itunes pruchased section? Why aren;t they in my library? Confused....and why is it asking to authorise my laptop when it is already?
    Thnaks,
    James

Di you ever even plug it in to a different computer?
Becuase that will authorize on that account.
You will need to unauthorize all computers. then reauthorize on your laptop.

  • Old computer crashed; loaded iTunes to new computer, won't sync my iPod

The computer I initially set up my 60g iPod video crashed (windows based). I loaded iTunes on my new computer (also windows based) and even entered my iPod serial number. When I plug it into the USB port, iTunes recognizes the iPod (with my name) and even shows all the songs and videos on the screen, but they are in faded gray and I can't highlight them or upload them into iTunes. When the iPod is first plugged in, I get the message about the iPod being authorized on another computer and can set it up on the new one, but then it would remove the entire contents and update with the new library which has nothing in it.
Is there any way to upload my iPod contents into the newly loaded iTunes on my new computer? I got an iTouch for X-Mas and I am hoping that when I load that software, it will recognize my older iPod's music library and upload it. Of course, this won't matter if I can't get my old stuff into me new iTunes.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • Loaded itunes onto a new pc. none of my  playlists show. all my music is there, but my previously created playlists are not.

I loaded iTunes onto a new computer.  All of my music shows up, but none of my playlists show (ex. Rudys Shuffle, Rudys Nano, Purchased, etc.). What do I have to do to get these playlists back?  Thank you.

  • TS1717 I have been running Itunes on windows vista and recently loaded Itunes on my Lap top which runs on Windows 7.  When I try to play my music the Lap top only play sample music.  Any suggestions?

I have a desk top which has Windows Vista.  On this computer I have been running Itunes for a long time.  My new computer is a Lap top and it runs Windows 7.
I recently loaded Itune on the new computer. I attemted to use Easy Transfer to transfer my Music but was unable to connected the two computers so I transferred my music to a external hard drive and loaded the music on the new computer.  I have the folders and files carefully and they appear to match.  When I try to run Itunes on the new computer I am unable to access the new music.  Itune always goes to the sample music.  The only difference I can come up with is Windows Vista and Windows 7.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi,
Are you trying to use the Help -> Updates method?

  • I had to buy a new computer and just loaded iTunes. All my old songs are gone. Can I load them back in from my iPod?

my old system crashed and the disk with my itunes library was lost. I've loaded iTunes on my new computer. How can I recreate my songs? Can they be loaded to the computer disk from my iPod nano?

Important: The first time you connect iPod nano to a computer that it’s not synced with, a message asks if you want to sync songs automatically. If you accept, all songs, audiobooks, and other content are erased from iPod nano and replaced with songs and other items from that computer. You can prevent iPod nano from syncing when you connect it to a computer other than the one you usually sync with.
Turn off automatic syncing for iPod nano:
In the iTunes Summary tab, deselect “Open iTunes when this iPod is connected,” and then click Apply.
If you turn off automatic syncing, you can still sync by clicking the Sync button.
Transferring purchased content to another computer
Content that you purchase in iTunes on one computer can be transferred from iPod nano to an iTunes library on another computer. The other computer must be authorized to play content from your iTunes Store account.
    Authorize another computer:
Open iTunes on the other computer and choose Store > Authorize This Computer.mm
Transfer purchased content to another computer:
1 Open iTunes on the other computer and choose Store > Authorize This Computer.
2 Connect iPod nano to the newly authorized computer.
3 In iTunes, choose File > Transfer Purchases from iPod.

  • Cannot copy my itunes library to new computer

Hey everyone, need some help. I just got a new computer, and I saved my itunes library to my ipod as instructed by the support area on this website. I loaded Itunes on my new computer and then followed the instructions to copy the library to my new computer. However, it's not working and I don't know what I am doing wrong. I moved the Itunes music folder under my documents on the C drive to the desktop. Then I plugged in the ipod, closed itunes, found the Itunes folder on my ipod from the drive under my computer. I can see the music transfering, however when I open Itunes, the music isn't there. I have tried opening the library file from Itunes, but nothing happens. Can anyone help me troubleshoot?
    Thanks!
