Shuffle won't respond or play but is recognized by PC

People plz help me as I am going crazy. I won my iPod shuffle a couple of months ago. I have enjoyed it thoroughly for the first few days. Later I put it in a drawer and forgot about it for nearly a month. When I took it out, it hasn't played ANYTHING. I did everything - reset it, reinstalled the sofware - everything. (I M running XP on my dell-and it worked in the beginning). The computer and iTunes recognize it OK. I can update the iPod and shift songs to/from it. When I disconnect it and later switch it on, it doesn't play. The FRONT status light is green and doesn't go off. Is it supposed to not go off? I don't remember... It seems to be charged (and even if not fully, still it should at least BEGIN to play). NOTHING! anyone? any ideas? thnx!

Oh my god! I actually fixed it!!! Haleluyah (mispelled?) but whatever...
I went to programs>iPod>Updater and pushed the Restore button. It worked. (only when I deleted the previous song/currupted combination and reloaded some new ones. But HAPPY DAY!!! it works! And can u imagine I won it? (In a sweepstake?) Nice huh? well whatever. The point is - when I tried to REFORMAT using their un/re-installation before, it didn't wipe the iPod but when I pushed RESTORE, it rewrote everything, so now it works.

My ipod had music on it and was recognized by the computer and itunes, it just wouldn't play anything and the green light just stayed on.
I was using windows xp
If that sounds like yours read on.
1. Go to start menu
2.then go to ipod updater
3.open up ipod updater
4. you will get a pop up with pictures of ipods just click ok
5.plug in your ipod
6.the screen will then show what version of the ipod updater thing you have, the lady told me to make sure you have the latest version, you can get it for free on the apple website just go to http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/
7. If you have the latest version and everything just click restore.'
8. The help support person said sometimes you have to restore about 3 times
This resets the ipod, you will lose all your songs and stuff though if they are only on the ipod.
If you still need more help call the apple help line at 1-800-275-2273, I am not sure if you can call after your warranty time, but you can try it.

Why won't my DVD play but works in Encore

I have just finished editing a video of my daughter's school play using Premier Pro CS5. I used After Effects to
create an opening motion menu with three user choices:
Play Show
Select Scene
Select Song
The links are all corect and everything does what it should when previewed in Encore. However, when I output the file to DVD (direct) or build an iso file and run that in an emulated drive, everything stops after the motion menu finishes. The sub-picture highlights respond to the mouse/cursor movement but nothing happens when I click on a choice.
This is so frustrating as the whole school has been waiting since before the school holidays started in July. Everthing is ready to roll but I can't get a physical DVD to play.
What am I doing wrong?

Shuffle won't mount on G4 but works perectly on powerbook G3.

Hi, I have a 1Gb Shuffle.
Works perfectly on my powerbook and refuses to do anything on my G4 quicksilver.
Both are running the latest OSX 10.4.6.
Will not mount in itunes and occasionally mounts into finder but when I click on it it pops up a blank finder window after a lot of beach ball spining.
Haveing read plenty of posts this seems to me to be a software problem as the shuffle works normally when connected to the powerbook.
Anyone got any idea whats causing this problem.

Looks like a software problem in the shuffle, try a restore and format on the shuffle. Download the latest updater from apple site www.apple.com/ipod/download and do it. It should work fine.

New Shuffle won't work with itunes, but can't download newest version.

I just got a new shuffle and when I plug it into my computer it tells me I need Itunes version 10. When I try to install Itunes version 10 it says 'Couldn't open "Install iTunes.pkg". This package type requires Mac OS X 10.5'. What do I need to do to get everything working?

Yeah, I just bought an iPod Shuffle and have run into this same issue. I don't want to upgrade to iTunes 10 because I did so on my work computer and am dealing with a headache of an issue with it (sort of off-topic, but it's doing that rapid flashing thing when loading in a CD, ultimately not recognizing it or letting me download the songs, unless I turn off the feature that downloads the song titles automatically, which is fairly important to me). I did some searching around here and found it's a common issue with no solution at the moment. I definitely don't want to deal with that on my personal computer, so I've stuck with iTunes 9. But now that means I can't use the Shuffle I just purchased. How frustrating. Any solution?

CS5.5 crashed won't respond to play button

After the crash I could neither recover what I was working on nor play any other files. I am running Version 4.0 Build 1815 on a MacBookPro 17". I have been using Audition from the before Adobe when it was Cool Edit, 18+ years. This is a first for me. Is there any way to re-download the program or are there any other solutions you might offer? Is the upgrade a full file or does it just add to what is already on the computer? If the latter I fear what ever is corrupted would remain so and not solve my problem. Thank you.

Yes the easiest thing is to try reinstalling Audition. Where did you install your original version from? You should still have the original file on CD or whereever you downloaded it from originally. Which upgrade are you asking about?

New iPod shuffle won't stay on, charge, and not recognized by computer

My daughter won a new iPod Shuffle that as far as we know has never been opened/used till today. We have iTunes downloaded and working on our computer. But when plugging in iPod via provided USB cable, the computer (and I've tried two different ones) will not recognize anything is plugged in. Also, I don't even think the iPod is working at all. The amber light only comes on for one second when turned on/plugged in, then goes off. I know the USB ports I've tried to use it with are adequate (i.e. fast/powerful enough) because they are the main USB ports of the computers (no hubs or dual ports) and they work with other Apple products just fine (including other iPods), so that can't be the problem. Help?! She's so disappointed.

I have exactly the same problem with both my ipod shuffles. That suggests to me that it is a problem with the ipods rather than my PC or computer software. I'm surprised that no Apple tech has suggested a solution yet.

Itunes won't respond to double clicking on a song once another song is play

hi. i open itunes, double click on a track and then if i want to play another track i double click on it but itunes won't respond and just keeps playing the original track. if i click on the track, it will highlight but won't play when double clicked. it will however play if i highlight with a single click and hit return. why is this happening. it never used to happen and doesn't on my other computer.

QuickTime X wouldn't have given the error message if it could have opened the file.
There are many file formats and codecs it can't view.

I just solved the issue.
Even though my computer was already authorized, I re-authorized it and now I can transfer purchased music to my Shuffle.
Can you currently play the purchased music in iTunes? I just tried to play one of my purchased songs and, sure enough, it wasn't authorized. I logged into my account and voila! However, it now says I have authorized 2 out of my 5 authorizations, even though this is my only computer...

My ipod shuffle won't play tracks in order even when I have the shuffle button off. I have sync'd it on itunes to play in order but it just continues to shuffle all the tracks! Please help. Thanks

I found a post about this problem from November, it is apparently how the iPod Shuffle handles podcasts. It sorts them in REVERSE chronological order, and moves them to the top of the play list. It's unbelievable that Apple has let a problem like this persist for so long.

It offers a way to partially fix the problem, but one that I find entirely unacceptable. The only lasting solution mentioned was to buy a different mp3 player, which I'll be doing as soon as I return my Shuffle and get my money back.
The sad thing is that in addition to Apple losing money on the sale of a Shuffle, they're also loosing money on songs I would be purchasing from iTunes (I got a $20 gift certificate for my b-day that I'm going to sell to buy other music that will play on a non-Apple mp3 player), and they might loose potential customers because I've been complaining about this to everybody I know!

Go back to iTunes, select the Music tab, uncheck the 'sync music; button, then hit apply.

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting that track from your phone and re-download it via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on it, or the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if it re-downloads in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that song and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours).
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work (it's been taking some people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.

Try:
- Sign out of Game Center and sign back in
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

HT1476 I can't tell if my ipod touch 3rd gen is really charging. I have it plugged in, but it will sometimes show the charging icon and then it won't respond to anything. I ddon't know if you need itunes to be on your computer to charge it.

Ok, so I plug in my touch 3rd gen and I can't tell if it is really charging. It doesn't seem like it is. I can only see the charging icon sometimes, and then after the icon goes away, the ipod won't respond! I'm not sure what to do. Than I thought the USB port was messed up because it doesn't always work, but I plugged it into a diferent port and it said on the ipod, charging isn't supported with this accessory.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.
