Shuffle wont update on windows

Hi i just bought my shuffle today...i can connect it to my computer fine but as soon as i try to move data onto it i get an unknown error saying that i cant write to or get data from the ipod. I have uninstalled itunes 7.0.2, reinstalled it, rebooted my computer and even took the shuffle to the apple store today and got a factory restore from them... still nothing. I took a screenshot, dunno if it will help! Please help!!

I have since attempted to reformat my shuffle to my Macbook computer where it works fine! Too bad all my music is on my home PC(windows xp)... according to the answers i have seen for other people with the same problem (error 50 and error 1418) i should now take my ipod in to get serviced. I have already been to the apple store where they told me it worked fine because they restored it on an apple computer. Looks more like a compatability issue to me now, although i still dont know how to fix it. Wish my shuffle would sync on windows...

A bit of a shot in the dark, but this appears to be an issue with pulling down the update from the Windows Store.  I have not run into this issue directly, but this thread has a lot of information.
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-windows_store/windows-8-apps-are-pending-...
The one tidbit that might help here from that thread is:
"finally I found a solution. go to troubleshooting (press win+w >then type troubleshooting). now a window opens in desktop. click "fix problems with windows updates". now click next. windows will search for solutions, but it wont find anything. then windows will ask if u want to try in administrator mode. click yes. windows will find and solve the problem. that's it."

  • Shuffle wont sync- 'autoplay' window search appears

If I connect my shuffle to computer it will not update the music on it. It will only remove songs.
After restoring the shuffle it will do a autofill, but will not allow me to put 'checked music' onto it. If I do attempt to put music onto it, a windows searching icon comes up saying 'autoplay' to no avail. No matter what I do it will not add music onto the ipod. This is very annoying! Considering its my 3rd and now FINAL ipod- all of them eventually dying on me. Some one please help!
      Windows ME

No thats not it. Just realised that computer is actually running on 2000 now (dont know how thats come about), but I was told Windows ME was fine to use as it was just a rubbish-home-edition version of 2000.
Other ipods are fine on this computer when it comes to syncing, its just the shuffle that wont work- so I guess Im assumnig its not a system fault, but then again I really dont have a clue with all this computer malarcy!
    Good idea, thanks anyway

  • PLEASE HELP! !!!My shuffle wont update

Whenever i try to update my shuffle, Itunes comes up with an error saying 'The Ipod cannot be updated. An unknown error has occurred (-36)' Also finding that Itunes isnt recognising my Ipod sometimes. Please help me as this is really annoying and have no idea what to do!!
    Thanks!

That is an error message indicating communication issues with the USB port. There is a knowledge base article on this, but I'm not at work and don't remember the number. I will post the link tonight, but in the meantime:
    1. Use a rear port on the computer, not keyboard or front port.
    2. Disconnect all other USB peripherals other than the keyboard and mouse.
    3. Boot into Safe Mode, remove the USB Root Hub driver, reboot and let Windows load a new driver.
    4. Use a USB extension cable or port extender to ensure a good connection.

  • After updating to windows 8.1 the games I played wont start

    Good day,
Im new to this stuff, i recently updated my windows 8 to 8.1. After updating the game that i was playing works just fine. After a few minutes an update was done on something(i dont know what that was) Then I closed the game becuase it froze or something.
then when i open it again, it says " Rome: Total War failed to find DirectX 9, which is required for the game to run. Please reinstall directx"
After that I tried to open another game that i was playing (The Asian Dynasties:Age of empire 3). A window pops up and says
"Age of Empires III requires at least a 64 MB video card. This computer appears to have a 0 MB video card. If you wish to upgrade your computer, please contact your computer manufacturer for any necessary assistance.
    System information: 1900 MHz, 3968 MB, 0 MB  (vendorID 8086, deviceID 166)"
There where two choices buttons in the window one says "attempt to run" and the other says "exit game"
So i selected attempt to run then it says that "Initialization failed. Direct 3d initialization failed" and there list of possible causes to it.
These two games work perfectly fine before i updated my laptop to windows 8.1. I tried measures to correct the problem on Rome total war like installing a directx package which it said to have installed previous versions of directx's but the game wont still
work. i also tried troubleshooting it all it does is change its compatibility then it still says that directx 9 is missing. i read more furoms but i cant find a right answer.
    please help,
    JC

    Hi,
In your situation, I think you should make sure that you have the latest version of the Age of Empires III software, just as the article talks about:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907881
Besides, after upgrade to Windows 8.1, I suggest to upgrade the graphic card driver accordingly from the official site of graphic card manufacturer. Meanwhile, download the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer(also for Windows 8.1) from the site below:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
The Microsoft DirectX® End-User Runtime provides updates to 9.0c and previous versions of DirectX — the core Windows® technology that drives high-speed multimedia and games on the PC.

  • IPod nano wont update because it says its windows based

My iPod wont update because it says that it is Windows based. I have never used it on a Windows machine.
How do i change it to mac based.

In the restore instructions it says that you need to plug the iPod into a power adaptor during the second stage.
    Not really.
    Actually it says,
"iTunes will present one of two messages on screen with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
    * Restore Instruction 1: Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
    * Restore Instruction 2: Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models)."
You will get Restore Instruction 2.

  • My ipod is formated for windows xp. new laptop is windows 8. ipod wont update on new laptop, what do i do now?

my new laptop is windows 8. iPod is formatted for windows xp. new laptop knows iPod is there but wont update. how do I fix this?

    hey there oddball35,
It sounds like you are trying to update your iPod with your new computer. Without knowing the specific symptoms, I recommend you start with choosing the iPod model you have from the following website:
    iPod Troubleshooting Assistants
    https://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
If that does not resolve the issue, are you getting any error messages, or what specifically is preventing the restore from happening?
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,

    Hi,
According to your description in the link above, seems you're using native boot VHD, I'm afraid that to say that Windows upgrades are not supported in native boot VHD, and you must perform a clean installation on a new VHD.
Reference link (pleaes see the "Note")

We also recommend you test Windows Technical Preview using a virtual machine or Hyper-v for easier management.
Thanks for your understanding and support.

  • Wont boot after windows update

M y Sateite A305 s6916 wont boot after windows updates tried to install.

tried .. every option on F8
Try this. Download a repair disc from here.
Windows Vista Recovery Environment ISO X64 version (64 bit)
If you can reach the Recovery Environment by booting that, try the Startup Repair and let us know what happens. Sometimes you need to run it more than once.

    Also try a System Restore.

  • Ipod shuffle wont play pls HELP!

    Hey people
If anyone could help me it would be much appreciated. Right. I have windows 98 and my ipod shuffle has been working fine with it, i have been using winamp to transfer songs onto it.
BUT recently, i have transferred songs to my ipod as normal, they look like they have transferred as normal, but when i safely eject the ipod and try to listen to the songs, theyre not on there. just blank spaces where they shud be.
so i just formatted the whole thing to see if that wud work. i went to realplayer this time to transfer songs. again, it seemed as if they transferred as normal. but when i tried to listen to them, the error light came on indicating no songs are on it. BUT when i put it bak into the computer, realplayer indicated the files are on there! the exact songs i tried to transfer!
whyyyyyyy oh whyyyyyyyy wont they play! sumbody purlease help me, i cant hack the boring commute to work without music!!
    thanks!!

Just reformatting the Shuffle with windows will destroy the firmware that runs the shuffle. IF you can't download ipod updater for Windows 98 than you will first half to "restore" the shuffle on a machine that can run Ipod updater. Than you can try and go back to third party windows 98 apps.

  • IPod Nano wont update songs!!!

Okay, when I plug my ipod nano into the USB port and my itunes pop up, the stage where my ipod would usually update itself is replaced with a popup window that says: Songs on "iPod Nano" cannot be updated because of all the playlists selected for updating no longer exist.
Yes, I have no playlists right now, for some reason in the past I deleted them all. But this problem has erased all the songs and things I have on my ipod and since it wont update my songs I cant seem to put them back in (this includes the burned ones and ones bought from the music store). I am totally confused on what to do, someone PLEASE help!!

I am experiencing, for the first time, a VERY similar issue; except I have MANY playlists, and, up until now, I have been able to selectively manage them on my iPod (2Gb iPod, 60Gb of music). Now, all of a sudden, I get the error that is quoted above, although I have already restored iPod twice, reinstalled iTunes once, as well as selected manual sync, and they all "crap-out" about 1/3 of the way thru the synch-job. Never before have I had any similar problems with my product. Please help.
