Shuffling artists/albums not individual songs

This has probably been asked before, however I can't find the answer. When I Shuffle in iTunes it plays one song, Shuffles to the next artist and then Shuffles between songs on that album. I can't get it to random Shuffle. My girlfriends Macbook does this, I can't find anything settings that would make mine work properly--am I missing something?

iTunes menu Control and select Shuffle by Songs, Albums or Artists.
Sounds like it is set to Albums now.

Working with entire albums, not individual songs

I've installed iTunes 7 before deciding whether to buy an iPOD nano.
I have a couple of hundred albums, too many to put all of them on a nano.
I want to be able to select a whole album with one click, so with six clicks I can select six albums for syncronisation with the iPOD. I don't want to have to select each track (possibly 100+ clicks). Can I do this?
A work around to this might be if the coverflow "mode" displayed only the songs in the selected album, or if a playlist was created for each album automatically, neither of which I can find options for. Am I missing something?
As it stands at the moment I don't think I would get an iPOD. I want to take a different selection of albums with me every day but that doesn't seem to be what it's designed for...
I'm sure I can't be the only person that wants to use it like this? Any help gratefully received.

Well, I'm not sure that's the best way to go about adding songs to your iPod, but you can do it that way. Make a new playlist. It may help to double-click on that new playlist so that the playlist opens in a separate window.
In the main iTunes window, select the main library and then put iTunes in browser mode (View..Show Browser). Select the albums you want by control-clicking in the list. Drag the selection to a playlist (or playlist window). All the songs for those albums will be added to the playlist.
Then sync that playlist to your iPod. You can clear that playlist (or make another new playlist) and make new selections if that's what you want to do.

If it's iTunes purchased music then you might be able to re-download it on your iPad via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app - it will download into the Music app. If you want your other music from your computer's iTunes (e,g. music copied from CDs and playlists) then you will need to sync it from your computer's iTunes to your iPad's Music app.

Transfered duet albums show individual songs not the album

I recently bought new Van Morrison Duets album. When I transfer it to my ipod it transfers each individual song; not the album

Older model iPods such as the classic don't support the Album Artist field. Workarounds are to treat the entire album as a compilation, or put the guest/feat. artist infomation into the song Name field and use a common value for Artist. I prefer the latter approach.

Music artist/album not working

I have had this problem i cant seem to figure out since updating to ios 8. The problem seems only when 2 artist have the same album name. Example i have Outkast "Greatest Hits" and 2pac "Greatest Hits".
If i go to music > Artist > 2Pac > all the songs are fine
but,
If i go to music . Artist > OutKast > it shows the 2pac greatest hits
It does this with multiple artist, it shows someone else's music if they have the same album name.
I have made sure all the correct tags are entered into itunes and the album artist/artist are correct, also tried with album grouping on and off on my iphone 5s.
I cannot figure out what is causing the issue, but it worked great in ios 7 and with my past iphones.

The key to using the Album Artist field is that it only works right if each song is also marked as belonging to a compilation. This choice has been moved to the Options tab in iTunes 8. +Album Artist+ should really by renamed +Compilation Artist+ to make its purpose clear.
Do four things for every track on a compilation album:
1. Fill in Album Artist exactly the same on every song, using an umbrella term like "Various Artists" or "Original Broadway Cast."
2. Make sure all songs have the same album title.
3. Make sure all songs have accurate "Disk __ of __" entries. If all songs are from one disk, it's easiest to erase the disk numbers. Alternately, you could put "1 of 1" in those boxes. Just don't have one song say "1 of 2" while another is blank.
4. For all songs, select Yes from the Compilation menu on the Options tab.

After buying album not all songs downloaded

I bought the CD - Pete & J - Dressed For Conversation and it will not download song # 6 - Never Never, why???
I have quit I-tunes then restarted several times and it still will not download song, I can listen to it from the Itunes Store and it plays the sample as well as I have gone to the Purchased in Itunes store and it plays the complete 1:30 minut song.
Help me get the song back into Itunes.

I assume that they are not just waiting to download (have you tried closing and re-opening iTunes to see if they start downloading ?)

Why do all my artist albums not display in the list format but do when i look at albums

When I list my songs by artist not all of the albums are listed for some people, but when I turn my phone sideways all the missing albums do show up with album covers and the songs. What can I do to fix this?

I'm still not sure that I understand what you have done.

Certain artists, albums not showing on ipod but do show in Library. Why?

My 60 gb ipod is synced with my Itunes library - which has all my cd's downloaded into it. However, even though an artist or album may show in my Itunes library, it doesn't show on my ipod.
For instance Maroon 5 Songs About Jane CD doesn't show when I search Maroon 5 in Artists or Maroon 5 in Genre but it does show when I look up the album name in Album. With nearly 1000 albums on my ipod, I'm not always able to remember an album name.

This is a very annoying problem that I have encountered myself. The only way I found to fix this is in iTunes (when the iPod is connected) to go into the iPod's music list to where the artist is and edit the artist's name (this can also be done with the track title as well). Sometimes there is an extra space at the end of the name, or even before hand. Just make sure it's the proper name/title and that there aren't any unwanted spaces added to it. Once you do this, the iPod should recognize that the song is there when it's disconnected.

Some artists/albums not streaming for weeks... Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, Arckanum, Ulver etc.

I have an issue regarding the availability of some albums and artists on Spotify. I use the desktop client on Mac OS X Yosemite.I have found that there are certain albums by the above mentioned artists that are listed on Spotify but that I am not able to stream. The albums and songs are not in grey, in Ulver's Kveldssanger you can listen to some songs, to some songs not. If you click on the song, the bar at the bottom just shows not minutes or seconds and the songs do not start. Any ideas?

View Playlist by Album NOT by Song

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I've done a lot of searching but can't find the answer.
On an iPod can I view, for example, my Recently Added playlist by album? At the moment when I go to this playlist I just get a list of songs, albeit sorted in album order - so if I want to listen to a particular album I recently added, I have to remember the name of the first track on that album and scroll down to it.
This isn't practical, or always possible. Surely the playlist can also by viewed by album? Or will it only list each individual track on every album in the playlist?

I'm trying to keep my wife's music in a somewhat seperate location so she doesn't have to scroll past all of my stuff (which she doesn't like). I thought if I had her albums in a playlist, she could go right to that. Viewing the album menu shows too much that she doesn't need to see.

The small cloud icon to the right of your songs means the song is not stored on you devices drive, not that it was uploaded to iCloud. You can listen to that song, but it's being streamed. If you tap on the small cloud icon it should download the song onto your devices hard drive. Once you do that the icon should not reappear again.

The albums I downloaded all had errors in the file so I deleted them, and now I can't re-download them from my iTunes account

Not all songs from an artist are available in the artist tab as some songs are from compilation albums. is their any fix for this?

In the Artist tab, I am unable to see all the songs I have for that artist under their name. It looks like the artist tab is organised by album artist so therefore any artist I have on a compilation album can only be found under various artists. First, you need to go back on iTunes
you need to go to each of the songs that are having this problem
Click the album so all the songs drop down
Right click the songs that have this problem
Click ' Get info '
Click the tab that says " info '
The box that says ' album artist ' should probably be empty (correct me if I'm wrong)
Click it and type the artist of the entire album, NOT the songs guest artist

Shuffling iPod albums through iTunes7

Hi everyone,
I am ready to tear my hair out - since upgrading to iTunes 7, I can no longer shuffle by album when playing songs from my iPod. What I like to do is keep all of my music on the iPod and listen to music with the iPod in disk mode. The iTunes library works fine - it remembers my sort settings, it shuffles randomly by album (as I have it set to do), it keeps the browser window open. However when I switch to my iPod device, it does not do any of those things. Every time I plug my iPod in, the browser is closed, the sort order is back to a default, and when I try to shuffle by album, it just starts playing the first song on the list and goes straight through! I have checked to make sure the Preferences are set correctly (they are), and I have ensured that the shuffle button in the bottom left corner is lit.
I know I saw posts about this when iTunes 7 first came out, and as far as I can tell nothing has been done about it. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thanks!
