Shure E2c and Zen To

I was wondering if anyone here has the e2c's and the zen touch? I ask because these headphones have a high sensitivity and low impedence that results in a hissing sound on my iRi'ver cd/mp3 player (it's a constant hissing that doesn't change in volume). Does anyone know if the zen touch has the same problem with these high quality headphones?

Hi,
I have the Shure E3c and Zen Touch. There is no hissing sound for me. I also was worried like you because there was a hissing sound on my old Sony CD Player before I got the Zen Touch.

• Best headphones for working out? Shure E2C or Bose In ear TriPort?

I want some good headphones for my Nano (2nd gen) while I'm working out (jogging).
My wife gave me the Bose In Ear TriPort for Xmas, and while the sound is very good, the right tends to "loosen up" easily. I can return within 30 days, hence I need opinions on other headphones for working out.
I have read positive reports on the Shure E2C and the Sennheiser MX 70.
Does anybody have any experience using these headphones during workouts? I am looking for great sound but more importantly, a set of in ear phones that stay secure while working out. I do not want heavy bass either.
All opinions are appreciated.
Thanks

I have the E2c and they are great. The only caveat I have are the sleeves. It comes with 3 types, flex, soft flex, and foam. They all come in 3 sizes also. The best fit that works for me are the foam. They stay in your ear and provide excellent isolation.
Here is the site to read about them.

• What are the best earbuds up to £60 - Shure E2Cs?

I find at max volume the Classic has too much treble - a lot of sibilance etc. The apple earbuds supplied actually seem to deaden this a bit which is good but they also sound too muddy so I want to buy some better earbuds.
Can anyone recommend a really good pair of earbuds (but not too pricey - £60 tops), that don't emphasise the treble too much? I've heard the Shure E2C are quite good. Does anyone use them with the Classic and would you recommend them?

You can try the Bose in-ear phones (mfg #44437). Their great on bass and really bring out the richness in the music.

• Headphones - Etymotic 6, 6i or shure e2c

Looking to get some new headphones for my 60GB video ipod. Stuck between the etymotic 6 or 6i and shure e2c headphones. Want a pair thats really good at blocking out the sound but also gives good sound quality. Does anyone know the main difference between the etymotic 6 and 6i headphones. On some sites the 6i is more expensive and others less expensive. They say they offer 15-20 db of noise reduction.
The Shure ones are less expensive, but seem like they come from a very good make and people are raving about them. Is the sound damping and quality worse in these?
Anyone with experience would love to hear from you (pardon the pun).
James

Hello
I have the etymotic 6i's and am very happy. I listen to a wide variety of music from hip hop/rap to acoustical and all sound perfect. They block out almost all the sound, and fit comfortabley. I would definately recomend them over other headphones. By the way i havent tried the shures but i didnt get them because the cord goes up and over your ear and i thought that would be annoying.
As for the difference between the 6s and the 6i's the 6i's have more bass but a very small loss of sound quality. If you gonna go with the 6i's check out amazon i got them on sale for 89$ about 2 weeks ago. Here the link...

• Nomad Xtra, Zen Micro, and Zen To

I'm your typical money-starved college student and need to find the best sounding mp3 player for as less cash as possible. I have about 800-,000 songs from my cds that I would want to store, and would like to add some other songs from Kazaalite and Limewire. Is converting shared P2P mp3s and such going to be a problem(28-92KBps)? As it stands, I'm deciding on the Nomad Xtra 30GB($90), the Zen Touch($220), or the Zen Micro($220). First of all, I was wondering if the sound quality of any of these three players is necessarily better than the other two. That's my biggest concern. I also realize that the Zen Micro has the least amount of storage available, but the recorder, better quality in-box earbuds, fm tuner, and extra replaceable battery are advantages. It seems like this would save me the most money in the long run. With that in mind, Is swapping out play lists that are stored on my computer a reasonable way to compensate for the lack of storage on the Micro? Or would that be frustrating and should I just go with more storage? I would also like to know if any of these models are compatable with cassette or fm car transmitters, and does that actually work well? And finally, can the Nomad Xtra and Zen Touch comfortably fit into a pocket? Based on all of this, which would you reccomend for me since it will be my only mp3 player?
Also, is the Zen Touch's sealed battery an issue to consider? I'm not planning on buying another mp3 player for a while, and I would hate to have a battery die on me just a couple years after it's purchase and render my mp3 player a $200+ paperweight. Is there any sort of Apple-like battery refurbishing survace for the Zen Touch?

.) Q: Is converting shared P2P mp3s and such going to be a problem (28-92KBps)?
A: You don't have to convert any files to upload them to either the Xtra, Touch, or Micro. You can play pretty much any bitrate mp3, wma, and wav files.
2.) Q: I was wondering if the sound quality of any of these three players is necessarily better than the other two.
A: Not really. Based on everyone's reviews around here, they all sound the same. Each player has a custom equalizer for personal settings too (more bass/less treble, etc).
3.) Q: Is swapping out play lists that are stored on my computer a reasonable way to compensate for the lack of storage on the Micro?
A: To do that, you'd have to remove certain files then upload other ones. There's a synchronize option which could be used to do this a little easier. But it's not as easy as taking music database A on the MP3 player and replacing it with music database B from your computer.
4.) Q: Are any of these models compatable with cassette or fm car transmitters, and does that actually work well?
A: Yes, check out the Creative MP3 player accessories section for more info.
5.) Q: And finally, can the Nomad Xtra and Zen Touch comfortably fit into a pocket?
A: My Zen Xtra fits into every one of my pants' pockets. The Zen Touch is smaller than the Zen Xtra, so I would say that it would fit into your pocket even easier.
6.) Q: Based on all of this, which would you reccomend for me since it will be my only mp3 player?
A: Let the customers decide that for you. Check out the reviews in this thread
Hope this helps in your decision! If I were you I would probably go with the Zen Micro.

Gordon, it looks like its been a while since you made this post. Not sure how valid it is now... I am particularly interested in the LigatureLevel.NONE value. It seems that it is no longer supported.
How do I turn of ligatures in the font rendering?
My flex project involves trying to match the font rendering of Apache's Batik rendering of SVG and ligatures have been turned off in that codebase. Is there any way (even roundabout) to turn ligatures off in flash?
Thanks,

• Diffrences between ZEN NANO and ZEN NANO P

HI ! What would be the differences between the creative mp3 player
Zen Nano
and
Zen Nano Plus ?

The real differences between the two models are that the Nano Plus has a Line In connector for line in encoding, and it has an FM radio with the ability to record from the radio.

• Folder navigation in ZEN and ZEN MX

I have a question about the ZEN and ZEN MX players. Is there folder navigation(such as that in windows explorer) or are the songs sorted by Artist, Album, etc.?

The Zen is a wonderful player. If you store the songs inside the player, it would support ID3 tagging browsing. However if you want to browse by Folder put the songs in your SD card and use the 'Memory Card' option to view the songs via folders.

• Win and Zen Media Explo

My Zen Micro worked fine with my Zen Media Explorer.
I then installed the firmware upgrade and Win Media Explorer Version 0 and it recognized my Zen Micro just fine and worked.
But Zen Media Explorer quit recognizing the Zen Micro. Now only Win Media Explorer recognizes the Zen Micro.
Any suggestions ? Should I reinstall the firmware ? Should I reinstall Zen Media Explorer ? Should I reset the system ?
Does Win Media Explorer V. 0 coexist with Zen Media Explorer ? Will both work at the same time, or must you somehow toggle between which one recognizes the Zen Micro.
By the way, when I reboot the laptop, I get a message asking if I want to synchronize. The only choice I get is synchronizing with Windows Media Explorer in the Window but not Zen Media Explorer.
Is the fix just something in Windows XP where you can select what software is being used for synchronizing ? If so, how do you do it ?
Many thanks for any help. My daughter is returning to college in a few days and I've got to get this fixed before she leaves.
Thanks for any help. And Happy Holidays !
Bob

I installed the latest Zen Media Explorer (4.00.8 I think, replacing my 4.00.4).
However, that did not fix the problem.
My Zen Micro still sees the Windows Media Explorer and works with it fine, but will
still no longer recognize the Zen Media Explorer. It did before I installed the Windows
Media Explorer.
Can anyone verify that they have BOTH Windows Media Explorer AND Zen Media
Explorer working and recognized by the Zen Micro ?
I have tried another Zen Micro on the same laptop and same result.
I also tried both Micros on another computer with same results...

• Creative MediaSource and Zen Micro Explorer Prob

Now that i have downloaded the latest Firmware my Zen Micro can now be recognised and used with Windows media player however now Creative MediaSource and Zen Micro Explorer do not detect my Micro.
Please Advise me on what I should do

As of firmware version 2.00.2 (includes new beta firmware), you have to use Windows Media Player instead of Mediasource. You cannot use Mediasource to manage a Zen Micro anymore.
Accompanying the new firmware update, you also need to update the Zen Micro Explorer to the newest version (<<< Newest version download link)

• Problem with Creative MediaSource and Zen Ex

Earlier today my Creative MediaSource software (the Organizer) stopped detecting my Zen Extra (60GB). I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software several times.
Everytime I try to open the MediaSource Organizer, I get the following:?[size="3" color="#0033ff">Creative MediaSource Player has encountered a problem and needs to close.[size="3" color="#0033ff">?[size="3" color="#0033ff">Error Signature: [size="3" color="#0033ff">AppName: ctcms.exe AppVer: 2.2.5.0 ModName: ctcms.exe
[size="3" color="#0033ff">ModVer: 2.2.5.0 Offset: 00098c[size="">
?Can anyone help me? How can I get the Organizer working again and how can I get it to detect my player. I have installed the firmware and drivers on this site, but nothing is helping.

Try deleting the .dat file(s) under "C:\Documents and Settings\YourName\Application Data\Creative\MediaSource". It may solve the MediaSource crashing problem. To detect your Zen Xtra, you need to install its plugin for MediaSource. You may install it from your product CD or get the latest from the Web download. Here is what you should do:?- Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2 from your product download site. Make sure that you install this first before installing the rest of the MediaSource plugins listed below.- (Depending on your product and firmware)
For non-PlaysForSure Zen series: Download and install the latest Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.20 for Creative MediaSource from your product download site.
or:
For PlaysForSure Zen Xtra: Download and install the Creative Software Suite for PlaysForSure-enabled Creative NOMAD Jukebox Zen Xtra Players.
- If it is listed for your product: Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Plugin for CD Burner 3.0.8 from your product download site.

• Windows XP driver problem - Nomad Zen Xtra and Zen To

I have both a Nomad Zen Xtra 60GB and a Zen Touch 20GB, both of which were working fine with my Windows XP Pro SP2 computer until a couple of days ago. I had recently put firmware 2.0.03 onto the Zen Xtra, and was using the drag-and-drop method in Windows Explorer to copy loads of albums across to it from my music folder. It seems I might have tried to copy too much over at one go, because eventually the file copying just stopped, and I had to unplug the Zen Xtra from the PC to abandon the copy process. Since then, neither Zen device has been properly recognised by any of my PCs. When I plug the Zen Xtra into?a USB port, Windows brings up the messages: "Found new hardware: Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra" and "Found new hardware: MTP device", then brings up the Found New Hardware Wizard, even though firmware 2.0.03 is supposed to provide "seamless support with any computer running Microsoft? Windows Media? Player 0 and Windows? XP - no drivers or software needed" (I have WMP0.00.00.4036 installed). The Zen Xtra's display does not show the "docked" icon except when plugged into my laptop (running XP Home Edition)... but even on the laptop Windows still asks for a driver, which it then fails to install properly. When I plug my Zen Touch into my PC, it detects that an MTP device has been connected, but Windows Media Player doesn't list it under the Sync tab, and when I try to install the "Creative Software Suite for PlaysForSure-enabled Creative Zen Touch Players", the installer complains that "Setup could not detect any portable device on your system... please ensure that Zen Touch PlaysForSure Firmware is properly installed". The device's firmware version is 2..0, and as I have already said, both this and the Zen Xtra were working fine with my PC up until a couple of days ago. Additionally, the "docked" icon?no longer appears?on the Zen Touch's display when plugged into the PC. I have made the registry change suggested in Creative Knowledge Base Solution ID #9287, and my PC is up-to-date with Windows Hotfixes. I've also tried uninstalling all Creative programs and reinstalling them one at a time, but I can not get my PC to correctly work with the Zen devices anymore. Any suggestions? Also, is there some kind of Factory Reset that I can do to get my Zen Xtra back to an earlier firmware?

I had the same issue. My battery ran down during a sync, then I was unable to sync again.
The Zen is showing up fine in the device manager, but none of the software (Media Player, MediaSource) sees it.
Finally, after a day of trying new drivers, running cleanup, etc. I decided to go into the Zen's recovery menu. To get there, press and hold the Play button and press and hold the reset (use a paperclip) button while powering up.
Once there, select the first option in the menu to Clean up the system. I forgot what it's called and I'm in the middle of a sync now, so can't look.
Worked fine after that. Phew!
If your device is being detected fine, but cannot sync, try that and post here if it fixes it.

• Windows Vista 64bit and Zen, Video Convertsion

We just updated out computer to one with Windows Vista 64bit.
Everything was fine until we tried to convert a .mov file to place it on the Zen. First it said we needed Quicktime ver 7 (which apparently the original video was created with). Tried to install that, to no avail. Turns out Quicktime 7 is not supported under Vista 64bit, according to Apple.
I then found on another message board of people having trouble running iTunes on Vista 64. Use the following link:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
You can then select the 64bit version of iTunes.
After the install the video conversion worked perfectly.
Hope this helps others.
Thanks

Can I run 64bit Vista in Bootcamp?
Yes. Both the computer and OS X are fully 64-bit compliant.
You can install a second video card that does not work with OS X but does work with Windows. Third-party video cards do not work with OS X because they do not have the EFI boot ROM required by OS X. They will, however, work when you boot into Windows. You do not need to convert the Mac Pro to a Windows-only machine which would seem a waste of perfectly good hardware and software.
You can install any SATA hard drive in the Mac Pro. There is no limitation with regard to size. Cache, however, is a feature of the drive and not the computer. Apple does not "qualify" drives for use with the computer.
These questions have been discussed in the Mac Prp fourms so I suggest you search the forums for other discussions of the topics.
