Shut down computer with Energy Saver

Hello,
I'm trying to setup the Mac's to shut down at 10:00 pm and start up at 7:00 am.
I used the schdule option in the Energy Saver preference to configure it but it does not seem to work. I read the help file for Energy Saver preference and it says it will shut down when logged in. At that time the computers are just on but no one is logged in.
Has anyone been able to properly set this up?
Thanks

Hello Mac:
Welcome to Apple discussions.
If you have logged off, you have found your own answer, I think.

The iBook does not have a backup (PRAM) battery. It only has the main battery and a small capacitor which maintains the settings long enough to do a battery swap. If the battery is dead, what you are seeing can happen.
If the battery is not a problem (or even if it is), you could try resetting the PMU and see if that helps.

  • Iphoto will not close or let me shut down computer.  Now it's frozen and can't even view photos.  Thanks.

I don't know how this started, but I'm unable to shut down my computer because I get message saying my photos are being synced with online... which they aren't.  Now iphoto is frozen.  Can't shut down computer or view photos.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
I have a MacBook Pro bought about 18 mos ago.

Force restart your computer, back up your iPhoto library, depress the option an command keys, launch iPhoto and rebuild the library

  • Iphoto has been importing photos for over an hour and i can't get it to stop. can't stop importing and can't shut down computer.

iphoto has been importing photos for over n hour and I can't get it to stop.  Can't get out of iphoto and can't shut down computer.

iPhoto works best when the source (Pictures folder) is on a different disk drive than the iPhoto Library is on.
And you need to have enough free disk space to work with, the faster the better.
Also, do not keep your media folders and those in your home folder on the same drive as the system, also another bottleneck.
Until or unless you have everything on 1400MB/sec SSD PCIe controller, you want
    System boot drive
Media and data folders and such
    scratch
    backup
    etc
I put iPhoto on an SSD off an SSD PCIe Sonnet Tempo card
If you stop- it, you will need to trash the Library it was creating.
Reading and writing to/from the same hard drive will be slow.
You don't mention which Mac, or how large you are trying to import etc
Also the support page and link to the iPhoto Commuinity is off this page:
    http://www.apple.com/support/iphoto
Take a look in Activity Monitor. See what the % being used for iPhoto, how many pageouts, how much free space on the various disk drives, and how much RAM do you have installed?

    1st problem see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firewalls
2nd problem, to close Firefox properly use File > Exit

Not using any mouse pad, I have a very smooth desktop. But I just tried to use a sheet of A4 printing paper, but no result, the problem persisted.
Someone on this forum suggested, that USB3 may interfere with the magic mouse.
I have 2 LaCie HDD's about 70 cm away from the mouse, I use them on Thunderbolt. But in operation or not - the result is the same, the mouse plays up! Just now I was clicking the desktop and the mouse created a new folder!!
    Thanks for the advice, Bee

  • AutoTrim & Include Subfolders From A Folder & Preserve Subfolder Structure & Auto Shut Down Computer - ALL In Batch Processing Mode And Match Volume Mode ?

    Hi! I salute you all!
First of all I want to excuse my english (it's not my native language)!
In 2014 we are dealing with thousands of files (video, audio, etc.), because of the present powerful technology, still... we are missing very important and useful parts for doing our jobs properly and very quickly!
In this case is Adobe Audition too, in my oppinion!
Adobe Audition is a great program, which help us to edit in many ways our audio files, but... unfortunatelly has major missing parts, which would be nice to be implemented as soon as possible!
Some of them are are right below this line:
    1. AutoTrim (for removing silences from audio files, before and after)
    2. Include Subfolders From A Folder (when adding a folder for working with, we should have the possibillity to add its subfolders too)
    3. Preserve Subfolder Structure (when exporting a folder with its all subfolders, we should have the possibillity to export the exact structure like the original)
    4. Auto Shut Down Computer (when all the tasks/jobs are done, we should be able to auto close the program and auto shut down our desktop/laptop as well)
When you will add these features which are so wanted, to have them all in Batch Processing mode and Match Volume mode as well, please?!
Many other audio softwares have all of these "old" possibillities, like "GoldWave" for instance (I am not advertising it at all), but the Adobe Audition which is more complex...doesn't so far!
I thank you all and I really wait for these very next future feature requests!
    Have a nice day!
P.S.: Is this message/question read by Adobe stuff members (persons who can take decissions in this way) too, or only by us, the comunity members?!

  • My 27" Imac (A1312/EMC2390) keeps shutting down unexpectedly with no warning or "screen of death". I replaced the power supply, reset the SMC, and zapped the PRAM, but the problem continues. Can anyone help me?

My 27" Imac (A1312/EMC2390) keeps shutting down unexpectedly with no warning or "screen of death". So far I reset the SMC, and zapped the PRAM. I even replaced the power supply but the problem continues. My error and system logs seem unhelpful too. Can anyone help me out?

You can get a shutdown like that if the computer gets too hot. Make sure the air intakes on the bottom and the exhaust vent on the top are clean and are not blocked by something in your workspace like papers or the back of the computer being too close to part of the furniture. You need a good six inches (15cm) of clearance between the exhaust slot and other objects or surfaces.
Anti-virus/internet security software, especially the "pay for" kinds, can increase operating temps. So can third-party backup software furnished with many "name-brand" external hard drives.
Fan motors and/or temperature sensors can fail. If you have the original grey disks that shipped with your iMac, find the on that has Apple Hardware Test (AHT) and run it. If you have a failed heat sensor or fan motor, it will detect it with an error code containing "SNS" if it's a bad sensor or "MOT" if its a bad fan motor.

  • Shut down maintenance with revision codes

    Hi guys,
For creation of shut down order, revision is needed, in IMG we can create revison (Revision is created with planning plant number and revision number and start and end of revision dates.) and this number is to be mentioned in order,  could you plz tell me what is revision code and where revison code is used.
As per my understanding shut down orders with revison numbers can be used again and again, for easy identification of shut down orders for particular operations are to be carried out at the time of shut down processing, is it correct understanding???  If i am wrong please correct me and give me the entire shut down process with use of rivision code.
    Thanks,

  • Iphone usb cable shuts down laptop with error any ideas why

every time i unplug the iphone usb cable it shuts down laptop with an error,i'm running windows7 on laptop and get a blue screen error.

This is a common problem with corrupt USB drivers. Try using a different user account, and make sure that you eject the device properly before removing the iphone cable. I don't know what system your running so I can't link you to any USB drivers, but google is always your friend. If all else fails, un-install itunes, re-install it again, back it up with all your documents to a USB drive, then re-install windows 7. Not pleasent, but possible.

  • Older computer on TC network shuts down, fixed with different router

I offer this as a solution to a problem with many possible reasons. It seems the router part of my Time Capsule was causing me problems. Using an old LinkSys router and making the Time Capsule be just a hard drive seems to have fixed my problem.
The situation is this: have been using a home network for three years with two wireless newer laptops and an older G4 machine as my base station with wired connections to printer, scanner, Time Capsule, and external hard drives, etc. One main use of all this is to archive photos from my laptop to an external hard drive connected to the G4 machine. A few months ago, it seemed that the G4 would die from a kernal panic whenever I tried to transfer 2 gigabytes or more of photo files. The G4 has an upgraded chip so it can run Leopard 10.5 but otherwise is the same old machine with a bus speed of 133 mHz, etc. Also, the hard drives could have problems, or repeated communication problems could have corrupted some software.
I finally decided to do a clean re-install of Leopard and that seemed to fix the problem for a while, but lately the G4 simply shut itself down with what seemed like little provocation. After careful diagnosis (and some time passing during which time whatever the disease is could have gotten worse), I narrowed the issue to one simple Finder task.
When using the laptop (wirelessly) to browse folders on one of the external hard drives wired to the G4, it would start to show me the files, but hang up, freeze and shut down if I probed folders (of 25 to 50 large jpeg files) too quickly. However, if I went to the G4 console and performed the same browse of folders, there was no problem, so I couldn't blame the G4 itself or the hard drives.
I suspect the Time Capsule router side is somehow not making allowances for the age and speed difference of the two machines on the network, or else is otherwise simply sick. Anyway, using an old LinkSys wireless router with the G4 and, with the help of hints and instructions here, keeping the Time Capsule as a hard drive only so my Time Machine backups can continue, seems to have solved my problem.
Once again, I can browse my archive hard drives to my heart's content and send several gigabytes worth of photo image files from the wireless laptop to the external hard drives served by the G4 and have no problem doing it. I am sure the official answer would have been to take the old G4 behind the barn and shoot it as it is now about 10 years old, but it is doing just fine as a base station server and it looks like it has a few more years yet to go.
I hope this helps someone with a similar problem.

    Video: Nvidia Geforce 9600M GT
If you have a recent nVidia driver installed, you might want to check to see if you have either of these two modules loaded - check in the nVidia console:
PhysX, or 3D Stereovision. If you have them, definitely disable 3D Stereo, and test. If no improvement, disble PhysX and test.
Also, try adjusting your Hardware Acceleration. If Max, set to Min and test. If Min, set to Max and test. If either helps, try incrementing up, or down, until it no longer helps.
Last, check your OpenGL settings. If ON, turn OFF. If OFF, turn ON.
It appears that you have a laptop. Is that correct?
    Good luck,
    Hunt
