Shutdown due to a problem on every reboot
Hi,
I'm on OSX 10.10 on a 13" MacBook Pro retina and since some days I get a note on every bootup claiming the computer shutdown due to a problem and if I want to open windows. But I just shutdown the computer by "Menu -> Shutdown".
Why is this happening?
Is this some hint to a hardware failure?
How can I get rid of this state?

I found more information thanks to the #apple on freenode.
Also I rebooted into recovery and verified + repaired the disk. This didn't return any errors.
Afterwards I reset the pram but this didn't help either.
PS: sorry highlighting doesn't work...

By tomorrow morning if your system is Ok then the Jobs will start automatically in system, but you need to monitor the system bcoz after shutdown all jobs are starting, so monitor it, it won't effect any loads.

"you shut down due to a problem" info box after boot from normal shutdown
After a normal shut down, (eject external drive, Click Shut Down from Apple menue).
Normal start up routine (push power button on back) results in Info Box telling me that I shfut down due to a problem ( i did not) and if I want to open windows open at time of shut down I should selct the check box and let it start up.
Where do you suppose this came from? and what do I do about troubleshooting ??

everything works on phone and wow it's big compared to my iPhone 5s. went with space grey since i have had 3 white phones in a row. restored via iCloud backup. updated iTunes as i have about 3,000 songs. 250 bought the rest ripped to AAC from my cc's....what a pain but switched from my windows desktop to this new rMBP late 2013 for xmas and iTunes is slightly different on a mac than windows and where everything is stored on drive.
anyhow problem is every time i reboot after putting in my password and arriving at whatever page i left at i get a very small window asking for my Apple id password. Now the top half is pre filled in with the email address i use for iCloud/itunes/apple/etc.
i did see in settings there is a checkmark i cannot remove that says for apple password "ask immediately" there are no other choices. it can't be unchecked by any method i found.
any help appreciated.In case anyone else gets this I hit cancel once and it has never come back.

hello there i can't install itunes due to a problem with the windows installer package i found a page on this site (here is the link) http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304405 i done every thing on it and i still haven't been able to fix the problem i have tryed the following unstalling itunes deleteing the registry keys deleteing all the temp files disableing all anit-virus software and anit-spyware. runing cc clearner downloading a new installer for itunes and windows installer and the script thing. and trying to reinstall. nothing seems to work i don't know what else to do this is the error message i get when i try to install i tunes. "there is a problem with this windows installer package.
A program required for thsi install to complete could not be run.
Contact your suupport personnel or package vendor."

All of it installed fine in my desktop, but a friend's laptop got the error you mentioned on quicktime, itunes, flash, officeXP and about anything else I tried to load for him.
If you look in: C:\documents and settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp there will be an iTunes install log...open it in Notepad and see if it isn't exiting with a 1619 error while running msiexec.exe
If this is the case, this fix should work for you.
Seems some configurations of XP (and possibly Vista) aren't allowing full administrator rights to the account you set up when you installed XP (even though User Editor says you do have those rights.)
I read 2 MS articles and turned off simple file sharing, then gave ownership of the entire C: drive to the administrator. Logged the admin account off, logged his "admin" account in, and then gave rights to his personal directory to his account (c:\docs and settings\<username>)
Once I did that, every install that had previously errored out performed flawlessly.

Have to reinstall Flash after every reboot.
Windows 7 - IE9 - Flash version 11.0.1.152 - Plugins and OS up to date - ESET Smart Securty 4
I get prompted to install new version of Flash after a reboot, so it happens at least once a day.
I install Flash and it installs just fine and works until the PC boots up again.
I tried some of the following:
- Use Adobe Flash Uninstall program before installing
- Using standalone install program
- Checked ActiveX Filter and it was off...turning it on causes
this same behavior, but the problem I have has nothing to do with the filter
Not sure when this started, but the user didn't have this problem until recently.
I am using ESET Smart Security 4. On all our systems, and his PC is the only
one that is having a problem. Need some pretty hard evidence before I bother
with uninstalling ESET just to see if that would help.
The part that is really strange...if I go to manage add-on's while it is working,
I see the Flash player there and Adobe's name there and that it is enabled.
After I reboot and go into the add-on manager, Flash is still there and still
enabled, but it now says "Unknown" instead of "Adobe" and is no longer
listed near the other Adobe programs. But then, when I reinstall it, that gets
"fixed" and now says Adobe again. So it almost seems like an IE9 problem
and possibly a corruption problem. No known problems with the PC. I suppose
that reloading the PC from scratch would fix the problem...at least I hope it would,
but I'm also not ready to do major surgery if there is an easier fix.sorry no hablo ingless

I also downloaded that Nirsoft tool, and on my (64-bit) system I also only see the ocx and exe registered. But everything works well on my system. So I currently have no other ideas. Hopefully someone from the Adobe team will have a look at this topic.

Cannot print due to a problem with the current printer
Cannot print (anymore) due to a problem with the current printer is the message I get every time I try to print something out. I tried to reinstall the printer's software, I changed the cables, but nothing happened. It seems to be something related to the printer setup utility. Any big idea on how to solve this? I was printing without problems until this afternoon. I have a HP Laserjet 1022 and sometimes I use Adobe Acrobat Writer. None is currently working.

I am able to mirror fine, but that limits me, my wifi extend only to airplay, my ipad, my iphone, but not the store, or netflix Network stats are good, and signal strength excellent, but due to the problem of failing to set my Network time no activation. I have unplugged and replugged so many times my i need to see a chiropractor. What gives, I have seen this question on the forums but no diffinative answer. HELP!! —Bob
Try a reset or restore if you can get to that. I found when trying to use a wired ethernet setup (which wouldn't work but that is another story) that I couldn't even get to the menus without the atv3 wanting to connect with apple for the time. When I went back to wireless, I got the tome sync to let me get to the menus but then an apple rep had me restore or reboot (I forgot which sorry) and then I finally got my wired connection to work. That is, until tonight and I am having to download the 4 hour update. Download to what, I don't know.

Have to reset digital out after every reboot - please he
I have my speakers digitally connected to my X-Fi and i'm facing the following problem: after every WinXP reboot i have to reset the digital out in the THX setup console in order to get sound again. My drivers are the latest version, downloaded from the Creative site, whereas the tools (various setup consoles) are from the original install CD. Is maybe this causing it's Are there later versions of the consoles available (to correspond to the latest drivers), didn't find any on the Creative site?
Would appreciate help...I was having the same problem, but it seems for me it's just if I'm in game mode. I use x-fi mode changer http://www.freewebs.com/spectra9/xfmc.html?and have the default setting as Entertainment mode. Now I almost never have to waste time switching digital out off and on again. I've got bf2 and bf242, and gamespy set to automatically switch to game mode via this utility so I don't curse myself anymore for forgetting to switch to game mode anymore.

VA01 CAN'T BE RUN DUE TO ENHANCEMENT PROBLEM
DEAR EXPERTS ,
I have displayed object-type CL_EXITHANDLER using SE24. Then on double-clicking GET_INSTANCE (RETURNS A
REFERENCE TO A GENERATED EXIT-CLASS) a code gets displayed. There on the line CL_EXITHANDLER=>GET_CLASS_NAME_BY_INTERFACE I have put a break-point. Then I have run / N VA01 as I wanted
to find the BADI'S on VA01 transaction.
Upon doing so , I got a RUNTIME ERROR stating :

Reboot the machine while holding down the command and R keys. This will boot into the recovery partition. Select Reinstall Mavericks from the menu, clcik continue. You will need an internet connection for this.

"Application opened for the first time" warning after every reboot
Hello, I have a problem with Lion 10.7.5. The system does not remember that I already opened applications before. After every reboot, every time I open an application it displays the warning as if it's the first time I'm opening it. Anyone knows how to solve this problem?

For any of the possible culprit kernel extensions, it is not necessary to completely uninstall the parent program.
You can temporarily uninstall any .kext, which may be causing the problem, by doing the following: Open Terminal in Applications>Utilties and copy/paste
sudo kextunload
Important, leave a space after kextunload
Next, navigate to the /System/Library/ and select Extensions. Inside that folder, find the related .kext in question, which you should drag into the Terminal window. (After dragging it in, the file will stay where it belongs in its original location.) This will automatically fill the Terminal window with the name and path to the file.
This is an example only of what the full command will then look like; it will not necessarily be found on your computer.
sudo kextunload /System/Library/Extensions/PaceSupportFamily.kext/
Hit return. If you have never used the sudo prefix before, you will get a warning, which you can disregard. Then enter your admin password, which you won't see on the screen as you type it in and hit return. Wait for the $ sign prompt to reappear, which will indicate the extension has been unloaded. Then just close the window.
This will have the effect of disabling the program. If it fails to be the source of the problem, to reload/enable it, substitute kextload for kextunload, using the above procedure.

Synaptics Touchpad Tap Scroll settings changed back to defaults on every reboot. Windows 10
After the Windows 10 upgrade my Synaptics Touchpad setings seem to be reset to factory defaults on every reboot. I go in and change to deselect Tap and Scroll gesture options, save, and everything works as expected. If I reboot my pc... all of my changes are erased. I go to Start >Settings > Mouse and Touchpad > Additional Mouse Options > Device Settings > Settings Right after boot: MultiFinger Gestures (selected) Scrolling (deselected) Tapping (selected) Buttons (selected) After change manually and saved:

I just wanted to share a solution to this issue. I've been having this issue ever since I started the Windows 10 insider program so it's sad that Microsoft didn't fix it before release. Anyway let's get started! The first thing you will want to do is uninstall the Synaptics Driver. Right click on the start button and click programs and features. Find the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver and uninstall it. You will eventually need to restart your PC but do not do that yet otherwise it will just reinstall itself. Next your going to want to Hide the update from Windows Update. To do this on Windows 10 you need to download a tool which can be found here. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930 Run the tool it will begin detecting problems and searching for updates. You will get two options, Hide Updates or Show hidden updates. Click on Hide updates and on the list you will see the Synaptics Driver, place a checkmark on it and then click next. Let the wizard finish and you've successfully hidden the Synaptics pointing device driver. Next open settings and click on Update & security, click recovery on your left, and then click restart now under advanced startup. Next click on troubleshoot. Then at the choose an option screen, click advanced options, click on startup settings, and click restart. Once your computer restarts you'll see startup settings. Press the number 7 to disable driver signature enforcement. Your computer will now boot up. Login and open your web browser and go to this link http://www.synaptics.com/en/drivers.php Download the latest synaptic's driver for Windows 8 and install it. Once installed, you maybe prompted to reboot so go ahead and reboot the computer. After that, go into your mouse settings and configure your touchpad to your liking. You will not have to worry about losing your settings after restarting the pc anymore. I suggest keeping the tool that allows you to hide or show hidden updates as it is quite handy.
Summary:
1.) Uninstall the Synaptics Driver

3.) Go to Settings, Update & security, recovery, advanced start [restart now]
4.) Click troubleshoot, advanced options, startup settings [restart now]
5.) Press the number 7 to disable driver signature enforcement
6.) Download the latest synaptic's driver for Windows 8 from the website. http://www.synaptics.com/en/drivers.php
7.) Reboot the computer if necessary.
8.) Configure your mouse settings to your liking.
