Shutdown time has increased drastically !! Please Help !!

I purchased a new mid 2012 macbook air recently...
I dont know why after a month's use my shutdown time has changed from 1-2 secs to 10-15 seconds !!
I am very disappointed for this. Please anyone help.....

My mistake for the accidental slip with 10.8.3, been working with a bunch of Lion machines in the shop lately and they were all running 10.7.3. That being said, I don't even think 10.8.3 is available on the Developer portal, yet. No more mention of that, though, otherwise the forum police will bear on this thread with the wrath of the strength of 10,000 retirees.
The issue exists in 10.8.1 as well from my experience. Our fleet of 13" Retina MacBook Pros exhibit the same issue that the OP is reporting (15-30 second shut down sequences). None of them run 10.8.2 because the update rendered the machines unusable, it's also why (I suspect) that Apple pulled the 10.8.2 for those machines. Personally I've noticed it on all the machines since the upgrade to Mt. Lion, it's just not that obvious on the MacBook Air due to the SSD (I suspect).
Personally I'm curious to know what is that's happening in the background, the OS (at that point) has been secured and shut down. The only thing I've been able to correlate is that the more inactive RAM I had allocated at the time of shut down the more time it takes to shut down. I shut down all of my programs before shutting down the machine so my wired RAM is usually sub 1 GB (on 8 GB of RAM). Perhaps Mt. Lion is doing something with that RAM, a secure wipe or some other system level task.
It's definitely a "feature" of Mt. Lion, though. Of the multiple machines I've tested that can run Lion and Mt. Lion the issue only occurs in Mt. Lion (dual boot).

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Assuming this is not the first time you have used your Apple TV
You might try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Also try restarting the router.
If the problem persists, try a restore, you may want to try the previous procedures several times before doing this.
If restoring from the Apple TV doesn't help, try restoring from iTunes using a USB cable.
If this is a new Apple TV, in addition to trying the above, it may also be that your network router is not allowing access to the timeserver, check that your router allows access over port 123.

Resetting of Internet Connection Every Time I Reconnect. PLEASE HELP !!!

I have a MacBook running Mac OS 10.4.11 with the latest updates.
Intel Core2 Duo @ 2.16 Ghz
1 GB RAM
I am connected to the net via a wireless router (thru Airport) and PPPoE.
Recently, I have been having a problem. Each time I try to connect, the first time was OK but when I tried to reconnect a second time, the password authentication failed.
I used to go to Network Preferences and retype the password. This would work but then again now this too doesn't work.
I have to delete my location settings each time and make a fresh new location. I also used to get the message :
'NetCfgTool wants permission to change access permissions of item "PPP Password" in your keychain. Do you want to allow this?',
with the options "deny", "allow once", and "always allow" (last one is greyed out and I cannot click here)
After clicking on "allow once" I get the message 'PPPD wants permission to use the "PPP Password" item from your keychain. Do you want to allow this?'
The 'always allow' option connects it and upon any disconnection, I have to go through the same torture all over again.
This is really a pain in a place like India where net connectivity sometimes is very irregular.
If somebody has a solution, please HELP !

I think it was one of the last two Security Updates.
Go to System Preferences: Security. Check the box next to "Require password to unlock each secure system preference." Then lock Security.

Win XP boot time has increased to 2 min... Any suggestion pls ?

I have bought 0769 A74 from the N200 series a month ago. I had installed XP SP2 from the dealer. Last week i had installed the optional components from another XP SP2 CD which I had. I don know whether its coz of tht or not... the windows boot time has increased to 2 min plus... whereas it used to take only 20 to 30 sec to start previously...

Erase All content and settings
Reset Network settings

Thanks lllaass, but I am not computer literate and do not understand exactly what it is I am supposed to do. All of my photos were stored on Microsoft Windows Live Photo Gallery. When I now access the gallery the only thing that is there are the folders with the title of the folders. The pictures that were in those folders are now gone. I can no longer access them on my IPOD either. My photo library on my IPOD is now empty.

I restored my itunes and now it wont sync back. it says a unknown error has occured (14) please help!!!!

My ipod was acting up, it wouldnt sync any new songs purchased after i updated my itunes. So i thought okay i will restore it, and sync everything back, so i restored it and now it tries until a message saying 'The ipod 'IPOD' could not be restored. An unknown error occurred. (14)'
I have tried to sync the same library onto an older ipod and the same thing has occurred.

If you're having trouble making changes to files that are inside your home folder (represented by a house icon in the sidebar of a Finder window), or if you can't get changes to the settings of an application to stick, then please see below.
Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:

Reset your security questions
1. Go to My Apple ID (appleid.apple.com).
2. Select “Manage your Apple ID” and sign in.
3. Select “Password and Security” on the left side of the page.
4. If you have only one security question, you can change the question and answer now.
5. If you have more than one security question:
          - Select “Send reset security info email to [your rescue email address].” If you don't see this link or don't have access to your rescue address, contact Apple Support as described in the next section.
          - Your rescue address will receive a reset email from Apple. Follow its instructions to reset your security questions and set up new questions and answers.Didn't receive the email?
After resetting your security questions, consider turning on two-step verification. With two-step verification, you don't need security questions to secure your account or verify your identity.
If you can't reset your security questions
Contact Apple Support in either of these circumstances:

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.

Did the trick! Not sure what I did to cause the screen to go numb, but this worked perfectly!!! I cleaned the screen and must have inadvertently selected something that locked the screen. This perfect solution kept me from having to run to the Apple Store. Many thanks.
