Shuts down on 40% battery without warning
I love my macbook, but recently, it is acting strangely. When I am working with the AC plugged in, when the battery power reaches 40%, it just shuts down without any warning. I have been up to date with the software update always and have battery update 1.3 and 1.4. I have calibrated the battery regularly. Please help, as this unpredictability is killing me.
Another issue, the crack on the right hand side: this is the second time, I have changed it and again, the crack and complete dislodgment has happened. I am not one of those who handle without care. I even have a hard cover for my macbook.
I'm having the same issue started this week, I was using 10.5.8 now on 10.6 I have a 17 macbook pro, 2.4 ghz, below is my battery information, any ideas? Has anyone solved this issue?

Macbook pro shuts down at 15% battery
ok so my macbook pro shuts down at 15% battery by it self without warning just started happening yesterday i got this model in october 2009. Need to know if i have to get a new battery confused with what is wrong with it any reply would be greatly appreciated
In System Profiler/Power what does it say about the Cycles and Condition ?
Reset the SMC (System Management Controller) and re-calibrate the Battery (you should re-calibrate every couple of months). -
My MAC Pro shuts down when the battery still have 50 minutes life.
My MAC Pro shuts down when the battery still has 52 minutes life without any warning. Does anyone have this problem? BTW, it is less than one year old.
You must have a MacBookPro, right? MacPro's are big desktop models.
Try the MacBookPro battery forum or their Usage forum.

IPhone 5 shuts down with the battery at 40%
I'm having issues with my iPhone 5. It regularly shuts down with the battery being far from 0%. When I took it to the apple store, a "genius" said that the battery is fine and restored the phone to the factory settings. I set it up as new without touching the backup (with iOS 8), but the iPhone keeps shutting down with a half charged battery. If anythings, the problem only became worse with iOS 8.1. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to fix it.
The iPhone is out of the warranty and is not eligible for battery replacement. Another issue I have is that the home button often responds with a delay, but I don't know if it's related to the main problem.
ThanksHere's the battery info from iBackupBot:

Computer Shuts down when on battery power at 80%
The battery power indicates anywhere from 80% to 90% and will shut down the computer.
No warning, No Low Battery indicator, No error messages.
The only way to boot up is to use the power adapter.
I have tried to reset the computer
I have tried to update the latest battery update, but it tells me it is already installed.
This computer is 8 months old.
Is there anything else I can try?I had/have this exact same problem after I installed the battery update 1.3 on Macbook Pro a few days ago.
I tried a SMC reset & a PRAM reset, all to no avail.
I called Apple today & talked with 2 different agents explaining my problem. One askked me to do another PRAM reset, which I did, again, to no success.
So, they are sending me a new battery, which I am really hoping will solve my problem (Macbook Pro shutting down instantly on an almost full battery at around 84% while not attached to the power cord).
Thing is, I never had a problem with the battery before I installed this update, so this battery update 1.3 somehow corrupted my battery/settings, and unfortunetly once you run this update, your stuck.
There is no way to undo this update as it changes the firmware permanetly.
Ugh.
Next time, I am not going to be so quick when installing "updates", I apparently really don't need. This battery update 1.3 has just caused me headaches & problems on my new Macbook pro.
Heed my advice. Research firmware updates carefully before subjecting your computer to these unneeded "fixes".
My advice is to call Apple & let them know of this problem. Get a new battery. They were apparently unware of this problem update when I called today, and more people need to be vocal about this & complain about this apparently corrupt battery update.
Good Luck. -

My macbook (aluminum 13inch) shuts down unexpectedly when battery 45%
hello there,
my macbook 13inch-aluminum, 2 years old, shuts down unexpectedly when battery state is at about 45% and when an external hard drive (western digital passport 160gb) is connected, or an iphone on a usb port. This occurs only when my mac is running on battery power. I suppose same thing will happen with any other usb device connected. Last time the same thing happened, i did not have any usb device connected onto my laptop.
My battery details are
Charge Information:
Charge remaining (mAh): 2377
Fully charged: No
Charging: Yes
Full charge capacity (mAh): 3234
Health Information:
Cycle count: 276
Condition: Normal

I tried to reset my SMC settings as well, but this did not help. Any thoughts please?Your full charge capacity is about 75% of what it should be, even though your cycle count is comparatively low. If you still have AppleCare, you ought to be able to convince them on the phone or at your local Genius Bar that you have a defective battery, because your capacity should be much higher at that number of cycles.
If you do not have AppleCare, you will probably have to pay for replacement. -
My iPhone 4 keeps shutting down with high battery percentage?
I have an iPhone 4 that I just received in September/October due to issues I was having with the screen. It has recently begun to freeze, shut down and come back on, and ultimately shutting down around 36% battery life. I can plug it into the charger and it will immediately turn back on, usually at the same percentage as when it shut off. Only last night it shut down at 36/37% and when I plugged it in it came on at 25%. I've done resets but nothing seems to be helping. Any other suggestions?
This is often due to fautly battery. Make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple Store for free quick battery diagnostic testing.

Anybody have an ipad that will not power on, for no reason? My ipad always worked fine and then one day it shut down because the battery was low so I plugged it in and it will not power on. Tryed the hard reset option still no power on
You can try recovery mode to see if you can revive the iPad.

Have you left the iPad charging for a couple of hours or so to be sure? -
MacBook shuts down on 60% battery percentage.
My MacBook shuts down on random percentages when used on battery power. I can only use it for FIVE minutes before it shuts down. And as I said, it shuts down before the battery runs down to 0%.
Go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info, then select Power from the left hand column of the System Profiler. Copy and paste the Battery Information back here.

Macbook Pro random shut down whilst using battery
My Macbook Pro randomly shuts down whilst using battery power even though their is plenty of charge in the battery.
Any ideas??does it do it when plugged in?
Also it sounds that there's a power failure and causing it to shutdown, I would get it serviced asap, the battery connector might be faulty. -
My Macbook Pro shut down because the battery power ran out. Now I cannot start it and the battery will not charge. Only one green battery charge light lights up and blinks on the left side. I am running Lion. How do I get this to charge and turn on? Thanks
If your model Macbook Pro is the calibrating model, let the battery calibrate.
If not, and are still under warrant or have Apple Care, give them a call and get a case number. Otherwise, take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP. Whichever is more convenient for you. -
MacBook shuts down after low battery warning
Hi,
up until recently my macbook's battery has been working just fine. but then lately i noticed that a few minutes after it displays the low battery warning it shuts down by itself.
before, when the low battery warning would display i could still continue working on my macbook for several minutes until it goes to sleep -- only then would i connect it to the power cord.
unlike the other posts (concerning batteries) that i've read, i have no problems turning my macbook on/off before or after this event has occured. neither does it shut itself down when the battery is halfway. my problem really only happens after the low battery warning has been displayed.
i wanted to calibrate my battery but then that would require my macbook to go to sleep once it reaches a battery level of less than 5%-10% -- mine just shuts down completely.
is this shutting down thing a substitution mechanism to save the laptop's memory -- instead of going to sleep, it'd just shut down?? how can i fix this?
thanks in advance for the help.
MacBook Mac OS X (10.4.8) 512MB, 2GHz Intel Core DuoFor what it is worth, I now have the same issue. Only I don't even see the low battery warning, it gets to 15% or 10% and bang, no power. This is not good, by the way and is bound to corrupt something in the system as OSX requires some house keeping when you shut down the computer properly. This instant off is not a proper shut down. I took my MacBook in and they wouldnt simply replace the battery, they want to keep the computer and give it back to me in a few days. I rely on this puter for work 5 days a week, so I was trying to avoid this.
Oh well I guess a trip to the Apple store is unavoidable.

RacerX
