Shutting down a panel in one thread from another thread.
For various reasons, I have a program with two threads (actually more than two, but only two are concerned here). One is the main panel that runs at startup, another is a Virtual O'Scope panel with a real-time display. Everything works more or less well, until it's time to exit the program.
The main program starts by calling a routine to display the VO'scope; this routine calls CmtScheduleThreadPoolFunctionAdv to schedule the VOscope thread with the function VOscopePanelMain.
VOscopePanelMain initializes things, displays the VOscope panel, and then calls RunUserInterface(); to process events in the VOscope panel.
When it comes time to close the window, closing the panel (the X box in the upper right corner) triggers the panel callback CB_VoscopePanel, which processes the EVENT_CLOSE: event by calling QuitUserInterface(0); which, in turn, causes RunUserInterface to return to VOscopePanelMain, which then shuts things down, closes the panel properly, and exits. So far so good.
int CVICALLBACK CB_VoscopePanel (int panel, int event, void *callbackData,
int eventData1, int eventData2)
int iPanelHeight, iPanelWidth, iV2ControlLeft, iV2ControlWidth, iWidth,
iT2ControlTop, iT2ControlHeight, iHeight, iLeft, iGap, iScreenTop, iScreenLeft,
iTop, iBoxWidth;
switch (event) {
break;
case EVENT_GOT_FOCUS: //happens when first displayed or refreshed
case EVENT_PANEL_SIZE: //size the controls on the panel
... do stuff here;
break;
case EVENT_CLOSE:
QuitUserInterface(0); //stop VOscopePanelMain, which in turn closes the panel and cleans stuff up.
break;
return 0;
However, I also want the panel to stop when I close the main program. The only way that I know how to do this cleanly is to have the main program (which has closed all of its panels and is in the process of shutting down) call VOSCOPE_Close_VOScope () which, in turn, calls CallPanelCallback (iHandle_VOscope, EVENT_CLOSE, 0, 0, 0); (which forces a call to CB_VoscopePanel above with the EVENT_CLOSE event), which should call QuitUserInterface, which should cause the RunUserInterface in VOscopePanelMain to return and let it continue to shut down. In addition, after calling CallPanelCallback, the shutdown routine calls CmtWaitForThreadPoolFunctionCompletion to wait for the VOscopePanelMain thread to actually quit and clean up before proceeding.
But, of course, it doesn't since, and it took me a while to realize this. The call to QuitUserInterface isn't coming from inside of the VOscopePanelMain thread, it's coming from the main panel's thread - which is already in the process of shutting down. So, the main panel thread is telling itself to quit, VOscopePanelMain never gets the QuitUserInterface message, and things stall.
So: how do I have one thread tell a panel in another thread to cleanly close? Or do I have to get complicated and either replace RunUserInterface in VOscopePanelMain with a loop that processes events manually and looks for a flag, or figure out something with a thread-safe queue? Any help appreciated.

Sorry for delay in answering, it took me a while to find time to build up a working example.
The attached program spawns a thread in a new thread pool and permit you to choose whether to close it from the main thread or the spawned thread itself.
It appears that in such a minimal configuration the process works as expected. There may be some different configuration in your actual program that prevents this.
Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.

How to add objects to panel in one class from another class
Hi this is what i am trying to do. I have a drag and adrop tool working where the users and select objects on a small panel and drag them to another panel called the tpan. What i want to do is create another class, which creates objects and now i want to display these objects on the tpan. So say i have a class DisplayTpan(), this class is used to display the objects which have been dragged from the small panel, and objects on this panel have mouselisteners attached, so that these objects can be moved around on the tpan. I have created another class called creatObj(), and from this class i want to add objects to the tpan. The DisplayTpan class extends a Jpanel, would this be he case for the CreateObj() class? In the CreateClass i have made a call to DisplayTpan t = new DisplayTPan();
t.add(object);
But this does not add the object to the panel, any ideas on how it should be done?
Problem number two i have is say, I have two objects created on that oanel, i now want to draw a line t connect the two objects, this is just simply a call to the drawLine function but how would it be possible to add a ,mouselistener to that line, so it can be extended moved around etc? Any help much appreciated thanks.Try to convert the PL/SQL code from Forms trigger into a PL/SQL library(.PLL),
and then attach that PLL in your forms.
Note that all Forms objects should be referenced indirectly, for example,
you have to rewrite
:B1.DEPT_CODE := :B2.DEPT_CODE;
:B3.TOTAL_AMOUNT := 100;
==>
copy('B2.DEPT_NO','B1.DEPT_NO');
copy('100','B3.TOTAL_AMOUNT');
This is the best way to share PL/SQL code among Oracle Forms. -

In my application i am handling many JInternalFrame.Simultaneously i am running working on more than one frame.
Due to some poor performance of some thread in one JInternalFrame,the thread is keeps on running .
i could not able to proceed further on that screen.
So i have to kill that JInternalFrame.Yoinks.
To be begin with your problem sounds like you are doing everything in one thread. So stop doing that. Second when you get it split up and if a task is taking too much time then interrupt it. No kill. Interrupt. This means the worker thread needs to check sometimes if it has been interrupted. -

How to refresh components of one jsf from another jsf (partialTriggers)
This thread begins here:
How to refresh components of one jsf from another jsf (partialTriggers)
My apologies for post in other forum and thanks Frank for reply.
I found a solution before read your post. I'm newbie and I ignore the use of colons. So, for do the problem that I explain in my post I must to change this code:
public backing_home () {
content = new RichPanelGroupLayout();
content.setRendered (true);
String[] partialTriggers = {"menu:menuItem1", "menu:menuItem2", "menu:menuItem3", "menu:menuItem4"}; //All id's of menuItems of the menuBar in menu.jsp
this.content.setPartialTriggers(partialTriggers);
Note that now I don't pass the item ID only. I add "menu:" before the ID. This allows to acces to name container ('menu' is de ID of subview). And that's all. This works!!
Anyway, I test your propuse Frank. Thank you!
WesthWesth,
Yes this code appears to be correct. Was that your question?

Can I Call method on one JVM from another through a dll?
Let me explain.
I have this java jar file that I can only have one instance of running at any given time. I'm using a shared data segment in a dll to store a bool indicating whether the program is already running or not. If it's already running, I have to not run the second instance and give focus to the current running instance.
The jar file calls a native method "canInstantiate()" on a dll to see if there's already an app running. If there isn't, the env and obj are stored in the shared data segment of the dll and we return true. If there is already an instance of the program running, I want canInstantiate call a function on the current instance of the jar (like a callback) to tell it to request focus. It's not working. Can someone tell me if my code is right?
The .h file
#include "stdafx.h"
#include <jni.h>
#include "CardServer.h"
#pragma data_seg("SHARED") // Begin the shared data segment.

thanks in advanceCan I Call method on one JVM from another through a dll
...The rest of your question merely expands on your title.
And the answer to that question is no.
When you call a method you are executing a "thread of execution." A thread of execution exists only in a single process. It can not exist in another process.
If the dll is doing some interesting things then you could call a method that sets a flag. Data can move between instances. But you would then have to have a thread in that different process monitoring that flag. And sharing data in a dll is not a normal process, so it would have to be coded appropriately.
If all you want to do is set the current focus to the existing application, then that can be done with existing windows functionality. You don't need to do anything special in your dll. You can probably search these forums to find the exact code. If not there are countless examples in windows repositories (like MSDN) on how to do that. -
Update column in one table from another
I've got two tables:
t1:
con_num
con_code
ex
elin
addressee
a few other columns
t2:
con_num
con_code
elin
addressee
contact
a few other columns
I just got about 300 rows into t2 using sqlloader, and now I need to use t2 to update t1. t1 will have 3 rows per ex||elin, but t2 can have more or less rows per elin (which is the same as ex||elin in t1). If t2 has 4 rows per one elin, then that is 4 distinct pieces of data, and I need to make sure that t1 reflects 4 rows in its ex||elin, each containing the addressee||contact from t2. So I'll need to add a row to t1, as well as update 3 rows. Is this possible with just SQL, or do I need to write PL/SQL?
The following is the code I've been trying:
update t1
set t1.addressee =
(select addressee from t2
where t2.con_num = 'number'
and t1.con_code = t2.con_code
and t1.ex ||t1.elin_num = t2.elin_num)
This code is not correct, it returns more than one row from t2. Also, I'd need to concatenate contact onto addressee with a space in the middle, not just addressee, into t1.addressee.
Any ideas, pointers?
Thanks!Forgot some info: Ora8.1.5 on win2kpro. Also, I was wanting to combine addressee||contact in the insert/update statement to differentiate one addressee from another in t1 after the data is inserted. We can have several addressees that are the same, but each one goes to a different contact for each record.
Thanks! -
How to refer one view from another view?
Hi,
I have 2 views in my Adobe Flash Builder mobile app. I need to refer the first view in my second view.
How to refer one view from another view? Or how to create a reference to a view wherever needed?I don't need any data from my first view. In a certain flow, I need to make my first view to be invisible.
for eg., My First view is in portrait mode. I change the device to Landscape. In the landscape mode, I want to show a completely different view (second view).
In this case, what happens is, I see my first view in Landscape mode for a second. Then the second view appears. When I change to Landscape mode, only the second view should be seen. I need to make my first view to be completely invisible in the OnOrientationChanging event of
StageOrientationEvent
As stage object and StageOrientationEvent works at application level, I need to know how to refer my first view object in the application level.
private function onOrientationChanging(soe:StageOrientationEvent):void

Is my question clear now? -
How to update one table from another
I am creating scripts in Oracle 10g. I have a table that has data corruption on three date fields.
I created a table with the following sql of all the affected rows:
CREATE TABLE LSU_INTER_FIX_DATE AS
select request_id,received_date,planned_start_date, actual_start_date
from lsu_inter2_requests_t
where received_date < to_date('01-JAN-1900')
OR planned_start_date < to_date('01-JAN-1900')
OR actual_start_date < to_date('01-JAN-1900')
I then repaired all of the rows with three data fixes
UPDATE LSU_INTER_FIX_DATE
SET received_date = TO_CHAR(received_date,'YY-MON') ||'-'||(TO_CHAR(received_date,'RRRR') + 2000)
where received_date < to_date('01-JAN-1900')
UPDATE LSU_INTER_FIX_DATE

where actual_start_date < to_date('01-JAN-1900')
I now want to update the original base table with the corrected data so I wrote the following SQL UPDATE command:
UPDATE lsu_inter2_requests_t aaa
SET aaa.received_date = bbb.received_date
FROM LSU_INTER_FIX_DATE bbb WHERE aaa.request_id = bbb.request_id
When I run this sql Oracle returns the error “ORA-00933 SQL command not properly ended.” How do I update multiple rows in one table from another table that share the same primary key?Comet wrote:

When you want to produce a DATE datatype when starting with a string,
you must use TO_DATE() on the SET line!
(TO_CHAR(received_date,'RRRR') + 2000)since when do you do add characters (from TO_CHAR) with a constant number (2000)?
You should NEVER EVER rely on implicit datatype conversion

How to call one .SWF from another?
How do I call one .SWF from another. I built a very beefy
base .SWF, and want to add music overlay, and an intro slide show
to the exsting Flash animation, but put it in a second .FLA/.SWF
file. How do I call one from the other?
This will be embedded in an HTML file but I assume this is
superfluous to my question.
F.Z.I think you should open that Another SWF (FLA),
and add some actionscript..
For example, you could create a movie clip, and write
actionscript in the
first keyframe:
loadMovie("
http://www.somewebpage.com/movie.swf",
this);

How can i access all the objects of one schema from another schema
Dear All,
How can i access all the objects(Tables,Views,Triggers,Procedures,Functions,Packages etc..) and do the modifications of one schema from another schema (Without using synonyms concept).
Thanks in advance,
MahiFirst of all, synonyms only help you easy reference the object. It doesn't have any implication of object privilege.
As long as you have proper privilege on target object. You can access it with or without synonyms.
Assuming you have proper privilege of objects, you can use following command to assume schema owner.
ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA = Schema_owner -
