    when I close out a website it goes to my desk top and then tells me firefox is already running and I have to shut down my system and bring it back up and wait to log back in. It's quite frustrating.

    Try Ctrl>ALT>DEL then click Start Task Manager, then find the process firefox.exe, then click end program, then try opening Firefox again. <!-- click applications > new task.... > explorer.exe --> done! If that doesn't work, then try re-installing Firefox or going to this link to safe mode area and click continue to safe mode and then try and exit, if this problem still occurs then disable extensions and plugins

  • Alerts - Text Message "To Shut Down the System"

    Hi Experts,
    I want to set a Alert message to pop up for all the users of Business One.Lets say the message is "Shut down the system".Can we set this predefined Alert in B1? I tried ,but it asked to link the query.I don knw how .....pls help.

    In order an alert to work, not only a message is needed, more important is the event to trigger this alert.  What is your condition to alert user? If this condition is not directly related to B1 itself, such as you want all user out of B1 system, then an email broadcasting to a distribution list would be a better tool to use.
    Thanks,
    Gordon

    why my macbook pro making lot of noise inside. Is it something to do my shutting down. I usually shut down my system in every week.
    Can anybody provide any solution on this.

    What kind of noise and when?  There are fans inside that run at various noise levels keeping things at the right temperature.  There is a hard drive, unless you have SSD, that can make noise when the stepping motor moves the track arm.  There is an optical drive that makes noise at startup.
    There are noises when you move the MBP and the motion sensor engages.

  • Running a Java Program for every shut down of system

    Hi
    I have a java program that sends an email to the Admin of my network.
    But this is program i just want to execute for every shutdown and on of my system
    Please Tell me how to execute my java program at system shutdown time and on time..
    Thanks

    Despite your objective, this is not a Java issue. The real question is "How does one run a program just before system shutdown?"
    How you execute such an application is system dependent. Java doesn't know when the system shuts down, only when the JVM shuts down. Unless you're willing to have JVM running the entire time the system is up, you'll need native code to detect system shutdown & launch the notification app.

  • Osx shut down at system start

    Hey folks,
    this thing is quite complicated, I will describe comprehensively since I do not know which of the symptoms are correlated to the final problem. Since yesterday evening, OSX would "spike", the whole thing whole freeze for some seconds and recover afterwards. Last night then it froze such a long time that I forced the shutdown using the On-Button. Since then, when I tried to login into my account ("excuvator") after restarting, it froze: I could only see my desktop wallpaper and the top part of the GUI (containing the time etc).
    I logged in as root, activated the guest account. Using the guest account, I renamed excuvator/library into library2 and created an empty folder library. I thought I would deal with any cache, start up whatever specific configuration of that account. Unfortunately, I still could not login. So I happened to see this page and read about the shift-trick that starts the system in safe mode. I logged in as excuvator and that worked. Then I read that maybe simply restarting could solve my issue. Since then, the system appearantly always tries to start in safe mode (indicated by the progress bar under the wheel?). And, since then, it always shuts down during the starting progress, I cant see the login screen anymore.
    What can I do? (since I am not home these weeks, any solution not requiring the OSX cd would be highly appreciated. But I guess, I could find one somewhere here).
    Thanks,
    Saman

  • V100 overheats and shuts down; shuts down during system diagnostics

    I have a V100 that has been overheating and shutting down when i run applications such as Photoshop and MS Office 2003. It has a 2Gb intel duo processor and 2Gb of RAM. I downgraded to Windows XP with service pack 2. The warranty expired in July 08 and until 3-4 months ago didn't have this problem. It happens with or without the battery, typically I have it plugged in. I took it apart partially and cleaned out any dust by the fan and such, but there was very little. I tried to run diagnostics on it through Lenovo System Toolbox (used to be called PC Dr.). During the system stress test it overheated and shutdown. I then ran the full system scan and when it got to the multicore test for the processor, it again overheated and shutdown. I'm not sure if this is an indication that the processor is failing or if maybe it just needs some thermal paste or if there is another problem going on. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi
    Possibly its high temperature issue.
    High temperature causes a shut down in order to protect the hardware from damage.
    But the question is why the temperature increases to critical level?
    One reason might be a graphic card driver from nvidia page. Such driver does not contain overheating protection. So you have to use the driver from Toshiba page.
    I see you did it
    Well, the notebook seems to be a new one.so usually the dust should not be a problem and the fans should work properly
    One tip; please ensure that you have enough free space around the notebook to ensure good air circulation...
    However, I recommend asking a ASP in your country for an check maybe its hardware related issue.

    If you're sure no operations really are in progress, such as a long file copy, select  ▹ Force Quit... from the menu bar, then select Finder and press return.

    Try restoring your phone as a "new" device in iTunes, not from backup. When finished, eject your phone. Do not sync any content back to your phone. How are things working now? If OK, sync your content back to your phone. If not, make an appointment at an Apple store, as you most likely have a hardware issue.

  • You need to shut down your system.....

    Greetings,
    I am unsure if the dump below is due to issues with the O/S (10.4) or hardware. I have been using Disk Warrior once per month for preventative maintenence. Can someone shed some light please? This is happening perhaps once per week. Thank you!

    Your going to have to strip your box down to one boot drive, one keyboard/mouse and a video card/monitor. Leave the RAM in.
    See if the KP's keep continuing, if so then backup your files, C boot from the installer disk (make sure it's pristine) and select Disk Utility Erase w/Zero and then reinstall Tiger and update. That should take care of the OS and bad sectors being the problem
    See if KP's still continue, if so then it's time to strip the RAM down to the two inner slots. Go on and test out your RAM by inserting two sticks in, running for awhile, two more, etc. etc. Run Memtest.
    Depending on that you'll have to start investigating the spare internal drive and exterior devices.
    Keep working your way up and keep a record of all your steps because you have a lot of potential of hardware conflicts.
    It could simply be the fresh OS install took care of it. It could be because you have so many devices and installed drivers they could be competing for power and OS resources/software conflicts.
    Make sure your machine has a clean and steady source of power, sometimes UPS are glitchy, try a dedicated line from your circuit breaker.
    Good luck, you got a lot of work cut our for yourself.

  • [SOLVED] Normal user is able to shut down the system (systemd conskit)

    Hi
    I noticed that i'm able to shutdown, reboot, or halt my system without root privileges. I don't know since when this is.
    groups:
    wheel optical kismet <username>
    It's not an actual problem since i'm the only one using this computer. But since linux is a multi user system i think this is not as it should be.
    Any ideas? Or is this how it should be?
    Regards,
    Archie

    I'm sorry, I wrote post above from my phone so I gave you wrong command. Right one is loginctl show-session 1
    Here is my output.
    Id=1
    Timestamp=Tue, 23 Oct 2012 18:43:51 +0200
    TimestampMonotonic=11555104
    DefaultControlGroup=name=systemd:/user/fuchs/1
    VTNr=1
    TTY=tty1
    Remote=no
    Service=login
    Leader=380
    Audit=1
    Type=tty
    Class=user
    Active=yes
    State=active
    KillProcesses=no
    IdleHint=yes
    IdleSinceHint=1351010626062490
    IdleSinceHintMonotonic=5933008
    Name=fuchs
    Line Active=yes tells you if session is properly authorised (in my case it is). If it is, you are able to shutdown, reboot, etc. without typing in password. This can be achieved with consolekit or polkit from testing repo (deprecates consolekit). Because you are not using testing repo, consolekit is probably responsible.
