Shutting down and restating by itself, unable to slide to unlock
My iPod touch is shutting down and restarting repeatedly by itself. Im also unable to slide to unlock.
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

My iPhone shut down and factory reset itself for no reason, and now when I plug it into my computer or any power source, the apple shines but it doesn't get any further than that. How can I fix it?
Try Here > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
You may need to try this More than Once...
Be sure to Follow ALL the Steps...
But... if the Device has been Modified... this will Not necessarily work. -
I PHONE 4 shuts down and restart by itself
I had this problem for some time. Prior to doing it every two or three months. In recent days, first I could not turn on. When I finally made it working now. He shuts down and turns on himself. When working on it just stops, hangs up and turns off and restart again. Has anyone has a similar problem? How ga rid of?
Yes, it is entirely possible.
Although in most countries Apple offers an out of warranty replacement for a nominal fee. In the US it is $199 for the 4S and $149 for older generations of the iPhone. Depending on where you are, that may be an option. -

I tried updating firefox as well and get message to close firefox first
You need "sysinternal's process explorer", it is free and can replace the Microsoft process explorer, that you get by "CTRL+ALT+DELETE". Either program will allow you to kill the instances of FF that didn't die as they should have, when you closed them. Sysinternal is easier to use, it is a graphic display with many options. Do not push "CTRL+ALT+DELETE" twice unless you want to reboot, that is its default behaviour under Microsoft.

Hi,
This is normal, the encryption is still in process, you should wait for some time, see this link
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee449438%28v=ws.10%29.aspx#BKMK_TurnOff
you can also use command to check the BitLocker Status, in the elevated command prompt, type
manage-bde -status (driver letter)

Mid 2010 15" Macbook Pro Random Shut down and Restart
I know this questions have more than likely come up a few times. But I have a mid 2010 15" Macbook pro that, for the last year, has randomly shut-down and restated displaying an error message each time. I have had this computer into three different computer repair shops over the last few months, two of which were apple certified, and have had a range of reasons provided for the issue. Anything from Motherboard to hard drive to virus. I have replaced the hard drive, did a complete reformat three times, and downgraded my OSX. But I still have the same issue. I recently came across some support tickets referring to an issue with this model of Mac, something to do with the graphics card. I downloaded a program that was supposed to be a work around, but am still having shutdown issues. I also heard that apple did a free replacement of the motherboard on these machines within 3 yeas of purchase. Obviously I am past that point, but I was hoping that there would be some other suggestions. I have ran an etrecheck on my machine and have attached it below. Can anyone provided any ideas of how I can fix this without having to buy a new motherboard?
Thanks for the help...
Cheers,

Macbook Pro Randomly Shuts Down and Restarts
Hi There,
This issue appears to have occured for other people in different forms but there does not appear to have been a conclusive answer to the problem, so here's hoping someone here might be able to provide some further insight into the issue, and with some luck, a solution.
I have an early 2008 MacBook Pro running OS X 10.7.2 (plugged-in to power) that has started to randomly shut down and then restart itself (goes through all the start up screens; Apple logo etc.). It doesn't appear to be just a straight restart of the machine, but it shuts down, and then a couple of seconds later, reboots, as though it is two different actions...
The computer does this pretty randomly, and now quite often. It happens when applications are running, Safari for example, and when nothing is running and i just go to open Finder or use Spotlight.
I haven't had this issue in the past (some 3+ years of full time use now) and as far as i'm aware, nothing changed on the computer immediately prior to the issue occuring (no updates, installs etc.).
I've checked the systen log which, each time the issue occurs, returns the message 'Previous Shutdown Cause: -128'. I've sought reference as to what this refers to, but it would appear to be a mystery to the WWW.
I have tried the following solutions with no success:
- Proper restart and reboot of system;
- Repair permissions;
- Reset SMC;
- Reinstall OS X.
Any thoughts on what the problem is, what the '-128' refers to, or what more i can try to solve the issue?
Your help is much appreciated! Thanks.I know this is a really old thread, and everyone's probably already bought new computers now. However, I'm still using my 2010 MacBook Pro and have been experiencing this very frustrating issue. However, I think I just found a way to open a finder window that prevents the shut down. In Finder>Preferences>General, under "New Finder windows show", I had "All my files" selected (BAD?), which probably was the cause, because setting that to "Desktop" instead has prevented shut downs, for now. Just thought I should share this tip, in case anyone else suffers from this annoying issue. If anyone has a better tip or a real fix, please post a reply! There are still people, like myself, working on these older machines who would appreciate the info. THANKS!

I am not able to access the "Settings" on my iPad 3. I just get a gray screen for about 30 seconds and then the app shuts down. I am also unable to access the App store, iTunes, or any app requiring an internet connection. Any thoughts?
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes." -
My iphone 5 shut down and I am unable to turn it back on. I've tried holding down the power button. What should I do?
Do a
Reset: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Note: You will not lose any data -
I'm on my iPod touch 4th generation and I wanna delete apps. Well I hold it down nd the X appears but as soon as I press the X it doesn't do anything for a little bit and then shuts down and turns on again by itself, HELP ME DELETE!
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Because there is something wrong with the iPad? Try restoring the device with iTunes. Start with that.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings -
when occurs a suspension of hard drive activity, manually or after a period of inactivity, this suspension seems to be incomplete (a ventilator continue to run)
therfore my mac (powermac G5, OS 10.4.11) is unable to restart, no possible action from the keyboard (I must shut down and restart)
is it a known problem ?I have zapped the pram (5 times)
I have reformatted the hard disk
I have reinstalled all properly (with full updates to 10.4.11)
there is no more problem with classic (il was probably caused by spoiled files)
but the suspension problem persists
it appears that it is probably not the hard disk suspension but the system suspension that is problematic :
when I set preferences so as to accept disk suspension as often as possible, but so as to avoid system suspension (set to "never"), there is no problem
does it exist a specific hardware use to manage suspension and reactivation, and is it tested in apple hardware test ?
