Shutting down Apache
Since I loaded Oracle, I must have chose an option to load Apache. My system is now so slow that I can't get anything done. I checked Windows Task Manager and Apache is getting anywhere from 88 to 97% of my cpu. How can I shut it down so it does not automatically come up at log on time. It is not in my start up that I can find to delete it.

that's named something like Oracle<SID>HTTPServer and stop the service. Also change the startup from automatic to
manual.

HELP!!! Problem with FMS on port 80 is shutting down Apache on my server!
Hello all,
I own FMIS 3.5. I had it installed on a VPS earlier this year and it worked fine. I later uninstalled it and moved to a NEW VPS with the same hosting comoany (Lunar Pages). Again, it worked fine.
NOW...
They are telling me that because FMIS is listening on port 80 (when I installed FMIS, I left the port settings as recommended, 1935,80 and 1111 for the admin) that it is shutting down Apache. For what it's worth, I did not install Apache when I installed FMIs on my NEW VPS because I figured I didn't need it as I was installing to a server.
The conflicting application is fmsedge which is running on port 80. Can ANYONE recommend an alternate port for fmsedge?
I am completely at a standstill with this, all my sites are down. The host tells me that Apache needs to run on port 80.
I am developing several websites that will use FMIS for RTMP streaming.
The worst part is that this worked before and suddenly is causing a problem
PLEASE help if you can. I am stuck.
Thank you in advance for your help!!!
Sincerely,
wordmanGraeme,
Thank you as usual!
FMS is set up on 1935 and 80, but I do have a second IP and will try that approach.
Will let you know how it goes!
Thank you!!!

"Apache.exe - Application Error" while shutting down Apache
Hi All,
Though this is not a show stopper bug, I am not sure whether this may result any error situation or not.
System: Windows XP SP3
Application: Oracle Apps 11.5.10.2 (RUP6) single node Vision instance.
Directories:
D:\orclapps\orclappsappl
D:\orclapps\orclappscomn
D:\orclapps\orclappsdata
D:\orclapps\orclappsdb\9.2.0
D:\orclapps\orclappsora\8.0.6
D:\orclapps\orclappsora\iAS --> Apache\Apache\Apache.exe
Issue: When I initiate "Oracle Apache Server ORCLAPPS_erp" service shutdown either in Windows Service window or from command prompt using adstpall.cmd, System is showing below error alert and then service getting stopped(purpose achieved). As such I dont see any problem with that. But I would like to fix it to avoid any problems it might cause for which I may not trace out to its root.
Error:"Apache.exe - Application Error" The instruction at 0x####### referenced memory at 0x####### . The memory could not be "read".
From below note I understood such bugs can be avoided by upgrading Apache version 2.0.43. Right now the one came along with vision instance is vesion 1.3 (according to Readme.txt file from Apache\Apache directory.). But I am cue less how to upgrade Apache, whether any Patch exists from Oracle to do this or not. Or, I should not change Apache from apps instance. Even if I can do, how I can do it? Or its nothing to do with Apache version. I am totally confused.
https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=11997#c3
Please advise.
Thanks.Hi;
XP is not certified platform so its hard to find answer.Thatswhy I suggest use certified platform, also see:

I know there are several other posts asking the same question but I've been through all of them and I can't find which is the application that is blocking my mail from closing. Here is the diagnostics test I ran.

How do I run a script at shut down?
Hi folks,
I wrote a script that runs at login that gets my dynamic IP and creates a simple web page with a link to my local computer address for Personal Web Sharing, and then uploads that web page with the link to my ISP homepage server.
I wrote another script that creates a web page with no link, but contains a message that my home computer is shut down.
This way, my ISP homepage can have a file that either points to my dynamic IP or has a message that my web server is down.
So How do I get the shut down script to run at shut down?
The shutdown script is basically just this to upload an existing html file:
curl -T shutdown_message.html -u userid:password ftp://ftp.web.isp.server.com/
or you can dynamically create an html file with current date and expected date you will be back on-line, or whatever, with some simple perl code.
Thanks.

For the most part I think the DSL keeps the same IP except when I power down. My power went out just as I finished my login upload script, so my first test was out of necessity, and it worked. I could set it up as a cron job on my local machine to regularly test the IP and upload the page.
reese, When I have a power loss, or non-planned abnormal shutdown, my web page will be out of sync, unless I use something on the ISP server, so that is a good point. I am not sure what kind of scripts I can run on my ISP web server. I don't know if I can set up a regularly scheduled script, or if it would only respond to requests, then it could perform the test on demand. I need to give that some more study. Good suggestion.
As far as a normal planned shutdown, I thought of one possible work around: to create a script that runs my upload and then executes the shutdown, either by AppleScript or UNIX shutdown command line, not sure which is the most graceful.
Gary, I looked in the /System/Library/StartupItems and found the Apache scripts in there. They have a StartService and StopService methods defined. I think I could use that as a template to create my own, or just add my scripts to the Apache methods. Since basically I want to run something as Apache is started and again when it stops. That may be the most graceful method. As Apache can get shut down when the machine remains on via System Preferences. You solved my problem Gary, but I marked your message as helpful already. Post back again and I'll give you the Solved Star & points.

Weblogic client not shutting down properly in web app
Hi,
We have an application running on Tomcat which uses wlfullclient.jar to connect to EJB's hosted on a Weblogic server. We're seeing errors like the following in the logs when the web application is shutdown, which appear to indicate that the Weblogic client is not cleaning up threads upon application shutdown.
Jul 31, 2013 10:44:10 AM org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader checkThreadLocalMapForLeaks
SEVERE: The web application [/myapp] created a ThreadLocal with key of type [weblogic.kernel.ResettableThreadLocal$1] (value [weblogic.kernel.ResettableThreadLocal$1@39c79485]) and a value of type [weblogic.kernel.ResettableThreadLocal.ThreadStorage] (value [weblogic.kernel.ResettableThreadLocal$ThreadStorage@5de7c565]) but failed to remove it when the web application was stopped. Threads are going to be renewed over time to try and avoid a probable memory leak.
Jul 31, 2013 10:44:10 AM org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader clearReferencesThreads
SEVERE: The web application [/myapp] appears to have started a thread named [ExecuteThread: '0' for queue: 'default'] but has failed to stop it. This is very likely to create a memory leak.
Is there a recommended way (configuration, API, etc.) of getting the client to clean up after itself?
Thanks.Hi Tim,
where did you deploy your Coherence jars? In the application (APP-INF/lib or WEB-INF/lib) or into the server classpath?
If you deployed it within the application APP-INF/lib, then you should register an application-specific ApplicationLifecycleListener in weblogic-application.xml which invokes CacheFactory.shutdown() in the postStop() method.
If you deployed it within a WEB-INF/lib directory, then you should do similarly from a JSDK ContextListener.
If you deployed it to the server classpath, then it has nothing to do with the application lifecycle, nor should it have, so it is normal if it does not shut down upon application undeployment.
Best regards,

Weblogic shutting down keep-alive socket improperly?
We were sometimes experiencing strange IE behaviour when surfing on webapps on our Weblogic application servers. After investigation we found that IE has a bug in its resend behaviour, so when resending a POST request it sends the headers (including Content-Length) but forgets the form-data. This causes the server to time out waiting for the data. (Note: We are using Win2K and IE6 SP1 on the clients.)
The IE resend is triggered on a default installation when 31-59 seconds have passed since the last request.
This is because IE will try to reuse a socket that has been told to keep-alive until it has been idle for 60 seconds but WLS will by default close kept-alive sockets when they have been idle for 30 seconds. So in the range 31-59 seconds IE will consider the socket alive but WLS has closed it.
The resend bug is really an IE bug and doesn't concern WLS, but then I saw that IE would function correctly with an Apache server with a default keep-alive timeout of 15 seconds.
Using Ethereal I could get the information depicted in the tables below:
Weblogic with keep-alive timeout 30 secs
old socket
Time 00 : User navigates : IE POST request -> WLS, WLS HTML -> IE
Time 30 : Socket times out : (no network traffic)
Time 45 : User navigates : IE POST request -> WLS, WLS TCP_FIN -> IE
new socket
Time 45 : : IE resends POST request without form-data
Apache with keep-alive timeout 15 secs
old socket
Time 00 : User navigates : IE POST request -> Apache, Apache HTML -> IE
Time 15 : Socket times out : Apache TCP_FIN -> WLS
new socket
Time 45 : User navigates : IE POST request -> Apache, Apache HTML -> IE
To summarize, IE handles Apache well as Apache sends a TCP FIN telegram (to close the connection) as soon as the kept-alive socket times out.
Therefore IE never tries to reuse the socket but instead starts on a fresh one on the next navigation and a resend is never necessary.
Weblogic, on the other hand, doesn't send the TCP FIN (connection close) telegram until IE actually tries to use the connection even though it timed out 15 seconds earlier. In this case IE needs to resend the POST request and this is when the form-data is forgotten.
So, my question now is if WLS behaviour could be caused by not shutting down kept-alive sockets properly at keep-alive timeout? Or why are there no TCP FIN telegrams sent at timeout?
Mike WilsonAfter doing some more investigation I have found that the "silent" shutdown of keep-alive sockets is only seen on the Linux version. The Windows version of Weblogic 8 behaves correctly, like Apache on Linux, but Weblogic on Linux does not...
Anyone can confirm if this is to be considered a bug? -
Error message caused by an improper shut down
Hi
When I try and lunch the web services from server admin I get this message in the log.
Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address 192.168.1.15 port 80
Is this error message caused by an improper shut down, the apache processes are still hanging around and apachectl restart won't work.
How can I clear them
Thanks
Message was edited by: stevewatersThat message could be caused by many things - either a pre-existing copy of Apache, or some other process altogether.
Did you install/enable Apache 2 on your server? If so, that could be the problem since Server Admin only knows how to manage Apache 1.3, so can't restart Apache 2.0.
You can use the command-line tool lsof to find which process is listening to port 80. You'll then need to make the call as to how to fix it - either by shutting down the process, killing it, or changing the port that your Server Admin configuration listens to:
<pre class=command>sudo lsof -i :80</pre> -

One thing that comes to mind is the entry in server.xml about shutdown.
<Server port="8005" shutdown="SHUTDOWN" debug="0"/>
You're not by any chance calling that port - unlikely but you never know.
There is another way of shutting down Tomcat accidentally, which is if your code is somewhere calling System.exit(), which has been known to happen to some people. -
Abrupt shut down of weblogic 7.0
Hi,
we are running an application on weblogic 7.0.
The problem is whenever more no.of users(more than 10) are using concurrently,The server is shutting down automatically .
The requests form the users involve database access which is taking long time.
Is the shutting down problem because of this long database calls
can u please suggest the work around for this.

Web server shuts down when I start it, and starts when I shut it down
I have an Xserve runing 10.8.4 and Server.app 2.2.1
I've been messing around, trying to get django to work, and now I appear to have done a bad thing.
When I flip the switch (or run sudo sudo serveradmin start web) in Server.app from OFF to ON, whilst running a tail -f on /var/log/apache2/error_log, I see this:
[Wed Jun 26 16:31:44 2013] [warn] NameVirtualHost 10.5.1.6:80 has no VirtualHosts
[Wed Jun 26 16:31:44 2013] [notice] Apache/2.2.22 (Unix) PHP/5.3.15 with Suhosin-Patch mod_wsgi/3.3 Python/2.7.2 mod_ssl/2.2.22 OpenSSL/0.9.8x DAV/2 configured -- resuming normal operations
and when I flip the switch from ON to OFF (or sudo serveradmin stop web) I see this:
[Wed Jun 26 16:32:01 2013] [notice] caught SIGTERM, shutting down
um... so everything is backwards.
anyone have any idea what I did?Maybe I'm missing something...
"When I flip the switch (or run sudo sudo serveradmin start web) in Server.app from OFF to ON:
[notice] Apache/2.2.22 (Unix) PHP/5.3.15 with Suhosin-Patch mod_wsgi/3.3 Python/2.7.2 mod_ssl/2.2.22 OpenSSL/0.9.8x DAV/2 configured -- resuming normal operations
So Apache starts up (true, you have a configuration error, but that's a different issue.
Conversely:
and when I flip the switch from ON to OFF
[notice] caught SIGTERM, shutting down
So it shuts down. That doesn't match your original premise, so what's the issue? -
I have been experiencing OPMN shutdown on my DEV server today. What I just realized is when I RDP to the server and run opmnctl startall the services remain running. Once I log off they shut down which is not making any sense to me at all. Has anyone experienced this issue before?
Please the wallet location specified in the Apache SSL configuration holds the wallet. File to look for "$ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf/ssl.conf".
Look for the directory name configured against "SSLWallet" and the directory should contain valid ewallet.p12.
Sample installation in my box,
SSLWallet file:C:\Oracle10g\midtier2\Apache\Apache\conf\ssl.wlt\default
