Shutting down automatically, no charge further than 65%

Hi, i have an ibook G4, Mac OS X, 6 months old. About a month ago, it shut down automatically, no alert messages at all. I had to plug it in again in order to restart it although the battery was 50% full. When i restarted it, the time was set to december 1967. A couple of days later the same happened, but i lost my entire itunes library. Now, it keeps doing so unless it is plugged in, but in addition, the battery does not charge more than 65%. The ibook has 4 tiny lights under the battery, now only 3 out of 4 turn on and it stops charging.
I have an antivirus, i have enough free memory (it has more than 10 GB Free), can anyone help me, please?
Thanks
Satsi

Hi, this is what happened. First, i left the computer run out of battery and this time, battery went down as low as 0%, i got the alert message but instead of going to sleep, it shut down and when i plugged it in and restarted, the date was set again to 1969. The good thing is that the battery charged 99%. Then i tried resetting the PMU, again, the computer got to 0% battery, i got the alert message, and it turned off instead of going to sleep; when i restarted it, the date was set to 1969 once more. When i charged the battery, it went up to 99% again, which is good. Now i just have the problem of the sudden shut down.
What can i do now?
thank you very much!

The iPhone might shut down automatically, if, for example, you are violating the operating temperature constraints (trying to use it when too hot or too cold).

I update  icloud in my computer but i forget plug my device iphone 5s in my computer, suddenly my device shut down automatically, what's wrong, now I can turn on my iphone 5s. How I solve the problem

    Hi fransiscasanti28,
If you are unable to power on your iPhone you may want to troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
    Specifically -
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,

  • Phone shut down automatically

my phone just shut down automatically and i've just bought in not more than a month !! OmG
And now i cant switch it on ... How?

First plug it into a charger and wait at least 15 to 20 minutes to give the battery some charge in case the battery has completely discharged.
Then press both the Home and Power On button together for some 15 seconds or so until the apple logo appears (ignore the power off red slider if it appears and keep on holding the buttons).  Let go when the apple logo appears and wait until the iPhone resets and restarts.
    Hope this helps.

  • QuickTime Player Shut Down Automatically!!!!!!?

Recently I purchased the new iMac 27 inch late 2012 with OS X 10.8.4.
Later on, I learned that there is something wrong with QuickTime Player.
Every time when I tried to play a MP4 video, QuickTime Player shut down automatically.
I also cannot create new video, audio, and screen recording.
When I ever tried it, it again shut down by itself.
I saved the error message in TextEdit, and shared it here.
Feel free to take a look, and see if anyone know how to fix it.
    Thank you~

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain iMacs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Satellite A200 shuts down automatically

My Satellite A200 is less than 10 months old but it has started to just shut down all of a sudden without warning.
When I try to turn it back on it often doesn't reach the Vista screen before powering off again.
Interestingly, when I remove the charger cable it seems to be able to boot up and survive at least for a longer duration.
    Any ideas please?

    Hi
I think the notebook shuts down automatically due to a higher internal temperature.
The point is that such notebooks supports a overheating protection and if the temperature increases to a critical level, the notebook shuts down automatically to prevent the hardware from damage.
In most cases the air cannot circulate properly due to clogged cooling grilles and therefore the temperature increases to a higher level.
In my opinion the cooling ventilators should be cleaned up.
The compressed air spray is a professional tool which could helps you to get rid of dust and debris.

  • Hi, 3 weeks ago i just got my iphone4 for and then i upgraded it to iOS5..am just wondrin', does changing of the iOS causes the phone to shuts down automatically and turn on again? thanks.. =)

hi, 3 weeks ago i just got my iphone4 for and then i upgraded it to iOS5..am just wondrin', does changing or upgrading the OS causes the phone to shuts down automatically and turn on again? thanks.. =)

How long are you leaving it on the charger?
Are you connecting it directly to an electrical outlet or trying to charge via USB?  USB may not provide enough power to adequately charge the device if the battery is that low.
If none of that helps, then the only option would be a warranty replacement as either the battery or system board is bad.

  • Shut down automatically when downloads complete/finished

    Hi all,
Does anyone know of a way to shut down automatically when downloads complete/finished (other than estimating how long they will be and modifying the energy saver schedule).
    Thanks, C.

    Guess not, huh.
Seems like such an obvious feature?

  • Satellite M100 shuts down automatically after about 10min

    Hey there guys :)
My Toshiba Laptop has been powering off abrubptly and on it's own lately.
When I turn my Laptop on, everything appears fine, battery if fully charged, AC adapter plugged in etc. However, after about 10 minutes of use it will just turn off and make a little 'zoip' noise or similar. Turning the laptop back on right after works, but I find that it will only stay on for about 4 minutes before doing the same. Turning it back on again reduces the time it stays on, sometimes not even going past the boot sequence.
However, if I leave it alone for a couple of hours and come back to it, it will stay on for about 10 minutes again, before going thru the same process.
I have a waranty, but I'm hesitant in taking my laptop in because I don't want to lose my files.
So I am hoping someone here has a fix for my problem :)
    Thank you,
    Osman

    Hi
Sorry to said it but in my opinion its a hardware problem. This strange notebook behavior seems to be a simply overheating!
The notebook supports an overheating protection to prevent the hardware from the damage.
If the temperature increases to the higher level the notebook shuts down automatically. This is a fact and nothing unusual in such case.
Mostly the fan cleaning helps but sometimes the notebook must be opened for professional cleaning. But note: I dont recommend opening or removing any cases! You would lose the warranty!!!
Maybe a simple vacuuming would make the job.
Anyway, you said you will not lose the data on your HDD. Well, I wonder why you dont create an data backup You can also remove the HDD and connect it via external USB controller to the second PC and could save the files on the other HDD.
After this procedure you should put the HDD again into the notebook and try to reinstall the OS.
If it does not help I would recommend taking the warranty.

  • Desktop shutting down automatically and unable to start up

The computer will shut down automatically overnight and then it takes about 10 minutes of pressing the power button, unplugging the power lead from the PC, switching off and unplugging the power lead from the wall to be able to turn the computer on.
We have had the computer for 4 weeks and this has happened 5 times.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Hi,
I would not stand for that that type of PC behavior with a new PC.  Your PC is covered by warranty so you should contact HP Support.  Return the PC if you can as it might be a bigger issue than you think later on.

  • Hp pavilion g6 1301tx- Shutting down automatically at 30% Battery

My Laptop is shutting down automatically at 30% of battery.Shutting down in the sense the screen goes off and gets swtiched off without showing shutdown screen.I experienced less battery life between charges so, I used HP support Assistant software,it asked me to calibrate my battery ..now i couldn't calibrate because of this problem..
So anyone please suggest me a solution.. Thanks in Advance

Mines started doing exactly the same! Its just 12 months old though and hardly ever gives me a low battery warning. Then it will turn off without shutting down the proper way. When I plug in and turn back on, the battery says its at 20-25%
Is there actually a solution to this and whats causing it?..because if it's the battery then **bleep**..they don't last long.

Try this First... You will not lose any Data...
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)

If that does not work... try letting the battery fully drain.

Adobe Reader is free. It always has been.
You have obviously downloaded and installed Acrobat (30 day trial version) and the trial period has expired.
You need to uninstall Acrobat (using the Control Panel and Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features [Vista/7])
Then run the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
to completely remove the Acrobat installer files.
Then download Reader 9, install it, and go about reading PDFs for free.
EDIT: Please, please please.... do NOT post a phone number in the forums.
You're inviting trouble if you do.
