Shutting down below 93% battery life

Anytime my laptop goes below 93% battery life, all of a sudden it shuts down. When i try to turn it back on, it shuts back off. So i have to keep it charged for it to stay up. I have checked all my battery settings and everything is ok. Everything is set the way it was set up when i first got this product. I had recently reseted my entire pc to its original settings just 1 day before this post. Before this problem has occurred, i would usually keep my laptop charging at all times.

  • IPhone 5 shuts down at 20% battery life

This started after installing iOS8 (currently on iOS 8.1.1): At around 20% battery life, if I'm using any app at all the phone will shut down like there's no battery left. It will not restart. Plug it into the charger and get the display showing there's no battery life and it needs charging. After about 30 seconds, phone powers back up and shows 20%+ battery.
I have tried draining it to shut down, but it's hard to get it past 20%. I have made sure there were no background apps running, turned off just about everything I could. No joy. And this never happened under iOS7; it started right after I installed iOS8.
I've seen threads on this behavior, but no definitive answers. Thoughts?

Had this same issue repeatedly. Had Verizon swap my phone 3 times. Same issue each and every time. Phone turned off at either 15-20% and I had to plug it in for a few minutes for it to boot back up. I Tried everything the reps suggested 2-3 times. Figured out there is NO way that this issue could be happening three times in a row. Found the fix though. It was one of my apps that was the problem. I had 6 apps I couldnt delete due to data that was on them. I deleted the rest of the apps one at a time and reinstalled them fresh. There was no way for me to know which app was the cause- I would have had to wait after each app removal until the battery went to 20 percent and see what happens. Being I deleted, maybe 30-40 apps, that would take too long. Before, each time I restored my iphone with each swap, I was putting the bad app back on. Being that I deleted the bad app, and reinstalled fresh, I have not had the issue since.

  • IPhone 4S shuts down with 30% battery life iOS 8.1.1

Last week I updated my iPhone 4S from iOS 7 to iOS 8.1.1. Allthough the battery level is 30%, my iPhone shuts down. I can only start it again by connecting it to a power supply (computer or charger) to get it back to life again. And if it is restarted, the battery level again is 30%. This is very annoying. I regret is very much that I updated the iOS.
    Apple please solve this a.s.a.p!

  • Phone shutting down with 75% battery life left.

    Hello,
I've had my iPhone 3GS for 1 month and it's developed a problem.
The phone shuts down, and won't let me restart it.
Holding down the power button and home button doesn't revive it, not matter how long I hold it on.
If I plug it into charge, I get the battery symbol with a small red bar on the left, and the lightning symbol at the bottom. The phone still won't allow me to fire it up.
After a short while (1 minute or so) the phone lets me fire it up as per normal. As soon as it's up and running, it's telling me I have greater than 70% battery life left!
I've reset the phone preferences, deleted a load of unwanted apps (I was nowhere near full on memory capacity though) and restarted the phone by holding hte power and home buttons until the apple appears. This hasn't solved the problem.
I'm going to try and run it totally flat (whatever that seems to mean) and give it a full charge a few times.
Has anyone else come across this problem?
    Thanks in advance,
    Pip

    Hi,
Exactly the same problem here. I left it to charge for hours, but the red, low battery bar would not dissapear. When I unplugged it, the phone turned off after a few seconds. I managed to turn it back on a few times, and it showed battery charges of approx. 80%. But after a few minutes, it shut down automatically and showed the low batt symbol again . I returned it to the store. No news yet.

  • IPhone 5 shutting down with 20% battery life left

My iphone 5 is turning off with 20% battery life showing. I've done all the updates. When I plug it in, battery life immediately jumps to 30% left. Any clues? It's not overheating and usually I'm just typing a text message. It's shut down twice now as I try to send a picture with the message. Thanks in advance for any help.

This usually means that your battery gauge needs to be calibrated. Apple actually recommends doing this on a monthly basis, but the advice is buried in the battery info tiphttp://www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html.
What you need to do given your current problem: When the phone shuts off and it isn't down around 1%, connect to a charger for just a minute or 2, or wait 15 minutes, then reboot the phone (hold HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears). Continue running the battery down until it shuts off around 1%. If it goes off above that value repeat the above process until you really do get to 1% (this will rarely take more than 2 tries).
Once it has turned off and won't restart or reboot charge it with the wall charger for 4 hours without using the phone. This should fix the problem for the moment. Going forward, about once a month run the battery all the way down and charge for 4 hours. This should prevent the problem from recurring.
If this does not work your battery may be failing. As it's still in warrantly take it to an Apple store for repair."
I am having the same problems with my phone and found this discussion last night and tried to follow this procedure but I could not get my phone to turn on and run down to 1%. It shut itself off from 15%-7% almost instantly. I rebooted it as recommended by others and turned it on and let it shut off until it got down to 7% then it would no longer turn on. even after sitting for a little while. I have charged my phone to full overnight with the charger that it came with and will wait to see if the problem persists. I am very frustrated with this and found out that my phone is a few days outside the 1 year warranty. If anyone has had this situation and found a fix without getting a new phone, please let me know.

  • IPhone 5 shutting down at 45% battery life

My iPhone 5 has been shutting down when it's at about 45% battery life, no low battery warning, just shuts off. When I try to power it back on, it tells me the battery has drained and I need to connect the charger. After connecting the charger it comes back on, again showing that it's at 40something% battery life. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Well if it is a software issue then I would restore the iphone. Restoring the device SHOULD clear up any issues if it is software related. If that doesn't work I would take it into an apple store. Since its still under warranty, let them take a look at it.
Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but Apple recommends that you drain the battery at least once a month and charge to a full 100%. Keeps the battery calibration correct ive been told. Which yours could be just wack ha because of a software issue. Try the restore.

  • Iphone 4s shuts down when it battery life gets to about 17%. prior to IOS 7 it would shut down at about 1%. What's up? (Oh, when I plug in recharge, the battery indicates it's at 17% or so. So, I'm not referring to battery drain).

My iPhone 4s shuts down when battery indicater reaches about 17%. When I recharge, indicater shows about 17%, so apparently this isn't fast battery drain. Oh, this happens since IOS7.

  • IPhone 6 shuts down with 40% battery life

    Hello,
I have an iPhone 6 (64 GB) on T-Mobile running iOS 8.0.2 that shuts off when the battery indicator says about 40%.  I could be using it like normal, then it just shuts down and flashes the red battery logo and tells me to plug it in.  It comes right back on when connected to power and then it is good to go.  I haven't tried to run it back past 40%, again, but the phone consistently powers down around the 40% mark.
I set up the phone with an import from my iPhone 5S and I got into the "death spiral", where the phone was stuck in a constant reboot unless I did the hard restart (power and home button until the phone restarted).  I think I fixed that by deleting the apps that were loaded from my 5S backup and installing them fresh from the app store.
I am restoring the phone right now and will load the backup from the iPhone 6.
Has anyone else had this problem?
    Thanks,
    Matt

It could be an issue with the battery calibration. I would go threw with the restore, set the device up as new, then restore from the backup. If that does not work then it is hardware related and most likely a battery issue. If you have an Apple Retail Store near you could take it in there for battery replacement, or you could call Apple Care and they have mail in options. You will want to make an appointment for the Apple Retail Store if you choose to go that route.

  • Why does my iPhone 4 shut off below 15% battery life?

I noticed my iPhone 4 battery was getting low today. I was given a message at 20% life. I then let the phone drop down to 15%.
I received a phone call, in which the call dropped. After I pressed the Sleep button, I was not able to wake the phone. Instead,
I had to plug it in for about 3 minutes, and Sleep/Wake + Home buttons to restart the device.
Is this just a miscalibration with my battery? Or is this some sort of defect. Other than this issue, my battery life has been fine and the device has been working as expected.

hi CiChirs, could be two circumstances. that the battery is completely consumed and then the iphone  is off, this is due to applications or  updates. I had an iphone 4 for a long time and battery worked within normal limits. so check applications or settings of your iphone.
if the iphone is taking off with power, then you most likely have a short circuit, check the dock connector with a clean brush.
    i hope it help.
    Regards/Saludos

  • My iPhone 4 keeps shutting down with high battery percentage?

I have an iPhone 4 that I just received in September/October due to issues I was having with the screen.  It has recently begun to freeze, shut down and come back on, and ultimately shutting down around 36% battery life.  I can plug it into the charger and it will immediately turn back on, usually at the same percentage as when it shut off.  Only last night it shut down at 36/37% and when I plugged it in it came on at 25%.  I've done resets but nothing seems to be helping.  Any other suggestions?

This is often due to fautly battery. Make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple Store for free quick battery diagnostic testing.
