Shutting down error message.
I have an Officejet Pro 8500. It has an error message that reads shutting down. Even when I unplug it and plug it back in, it still says shutting down. Please help.

On occasion when printing a report from Quicken or when printing a PDF document, printing stops and I receive the following error message. "To avoid damage, use on button to shut down. Do not use outlet to shut down". When I click OK on the touch screen, the paper ejects. I can switch to another PDF document just for testing process and another document will print ok. Don't know why I get the shut down message when I am not trying to shut down, just print a document.
This question was solved.
View Solution. Please read this post then provide some details. How is the printer connected - USB, wired LAN, Wireless LAN, bluetooth? It appears the printer is losing communication with the computer breifly and appearing to be turned off.
What print mode are you using? Fast Draft puts the most strain on the printer power supply. If you are using Fast Draft make sure the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet and is not connected through a power strip of surge suppressor.

Re: Shut Down error message
I have an HP6100 all in one series, plugged into a power strip.
Whenever I try to turn on the printer it defaults to the following prompt: "To avoid damage, use on button to shut down. Do not use outlet to shut down".
It then automatically shuts down after this prompt. How can this be troubleshooted?howardsl wrote:

Please plug the printer direclty into a live outlet. Do not use a power strip, the printer needs a live outlet. With the printer connected directly to a live outlet turn it on. If the printer shuts down then see the troubleshooting steps in this document.

NiloyCould you investigate the alert.log file and find out what exactly happend before the error message appears?
Have you multiplexed the redo log file? -
Why does my iMac (on occasion) not shut down, warning message comes on saying i have to switch off by pressing and holding the power button then restart, something to do with a Panic report?
Thanks

I'm getting kernel panics each day as I shut down, the message of restarting by holding down the power button appears on the screen - it began about a month ago and. Do you have any ideas of how to solve the problem? I've copied the logs that I found for each kernel panic that still have the message logged. Please help if you can, I have read some of the other comments and perhaps it has something to do with my anti-virus software being on at start up. I have copied the log here. Any advice will be welcome.

Two experiments you can try.
1. Boot in safe mode and see if you can shut down normally. All thise additions won't be running in safe mode so this test would indicate it is one of them causing the problem.
2. Uninstall all the intego VirusBarrier stuff. That's my first guess and the troublemaker. -

I'm using OSX 10.6.7, though cannot swear that the issue is new to the latest update. This popup message occurs so frequently, immediately after startup, that it almost seems that every mouse click triggers it, although again I can't be sure of that. I see that there are others with similar problems but they seem to be Macbook users for the most part -- I am not in contact with the power button when this happens, nor have I spilled beer on any component!
Try resetting the SMC by shutting down and disconnecting the power cable for at least 15 seconds.

DCR Server Down Error Message LMS 4.0.1
Hi,
I have a problem with my LMS 4.0.1! It was working fine till a couple of days ago. When I started it, all my equipment were missing and when i tried doing a Discovery Seach it launched a message saying that the DCR Server is Down.
I checked under Services in my Server and everything involving CiscoWorks is running. Ive Restarted the Deamon and still no luck. DCHP Service is disabled.
Have anyone had the same problem?? How can I fix it??
I have LMS 4.0.1 in a Windows 2008 R2 Server.
Ill be looking forward to a repply!
Thank you!!
Sincerely,
DanteIn the apache logs, I do see a Terminating on signal SIGTERM(15) and [warn] (OS 64)The specified network name is no longer available. : winnt_accept: Asynchronous AcceptEx failed.
1. Disable DEP (Windows Data Exectution Protection)
2. Disable SSL if in use, stop LMS Daemon Manager then
going to CSCOpx/MDC/Apache directory. Run the command from the CLI "CSCOpx/bin/perl.exe CSCOpx/bin/Apache/Config
SSL.pl -disable".
3. Ensure that you have enough resources allocated for the server, I did notice that you did not meet the system requirement for the hard drive space according to CiscoWorks Install logs.
4. Run the hostname change script as well from "CSCOpx/bin/perl.exe CSCOpx/bin/hostnamechange.pl" and reboot the server after gracefully shutting down the LMS daemon manager.
5. Post the updated screenshot of the services and pdshow after you have done the above steps along with the CSCOpx/log/syslog.log and CSCOpx/bin/pdshow output again. -

Hi,
It seems that you are having issue with Crystal reports Java SDK's.
Post your question in [Crystal Reports Java SDK forum|SAP Crystal Reports, version for Eclipse;.
That forum is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there. Also, all Java SDK queries remain in one place and thus can be easily searched in one place.
Thank you for your understanding,

Lap top pavilion dv 7 shutting down Error 908 cooling fan not working
Since two days my HP pavilion dv 7 lap top has been heating up. I started getting warning notice error 908. One of the cooling fans apparnetly is not working properly and the system is shutting down.
If the operation has slowed you might also want to check the hard drive. Go back into the BIOS and look for the hard drive diagnostic test and run it. If the laptop came with Windows 8 you can also go into the "enhanced" diagnostics which is easier to use, with mouse support and such. Tap F2 as you power up instead of F10. You can run a whole bunch of diagnostics in there like memory and hard drive and DVD drive. Let us know the results.
If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it. -
ITunes 8 shuts down (error pop-up) when iPod plugged in.
I recently updated to itunes 8 on a Windows XP. I can run iTunes and play music, except when I plug in my iPod. When I plug it in iTunes freezes and comes up with "iTunes has encountered an error and needs to shut down". Conversely, my iPod is recognised by Windows - it does the little sound when its plugged in; and its charging while its connected to the USB. Therefore the problem seems to be in syncing?
I have tried so many things. I have restarted my computer, tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes (x2), I have restarted my iPod several times, and I have tried installing QuickTime separately (I read it might have been a glitch with QuickTime). I'm so frustrated, hopefully you guys will be able to guide me in the right direction
Cheers.hi allimal!
iTunes works alright until I plug in my iPod, then it shuts down saying something about iTunes has unexpectedly encountered an error and must shut down.
what version of itunes do you have? to check, go "help > about itunes", and wait for the version number to scroll up from the bottom. for example, i have a 6.0.4.2.
if you've got a 6.0.2.23, see:
iTunes 6.0.2 quits unexpectedly when you connect ipod
