Shutting off or pausing automatically

I have a 4G nano. It shuts off (pauses) for no reason. It does this even if I have it in play mode and "locked". It occurs spontaneously, and there is not a specific situation that causes it to occur. Any thoughts or similar experiences?

I use a set of JVC HAFX55ZW in the ear earphones. They provide me with clear sound and are more comfortable than the stock apple earphones.
The 1st set which were faulty looked as if the cable had suffered some shearing stress (maybe from pliers).
The reason that the pausing occurs is due to the iPod's auto pause feature, when there is no return from the earphone socket, the iPod pauses the playback so that you do not miss any more of the track/podcast that you were listening to, without having to search for the place you were at when the plug left the socket. If there is any unusual electrical resistance in the headphone cable (say, from broken strands within the insulation) the iPod apparently takes it as the cable being disconnected.

  • Ipod classic will not shut off or pause

I suddenly can not shut off or pause my iPod. It only keeps playing til the battery dies. help??!!

I have an Ipod 60GB classic and am having the same problems. Have tried to hold on and off and menu and center button to reset multiple times with no luck.

  • Why does my nano shut off during pause when running?

I have 3 ipods. I have no issues with my classic nano but I purchased latest nano because of its size and easy to read buttons during a run.  I use Nike plus to track all of my runs and especially need to log my runs as one.  However, if I pause to take a short break during a long run (a minute to a minute and a half at the most), my ipod does not allow me to resume.  After a short time I hear "your workout is complete".  This is so frustrating because now I show split runs in the same day, can't record accurate information on Nike plus. I have only had it for a few weeks and have already reset it.  Has anyone else had this problem.

We use nike+ also so we understand. The tracking is really nice as long as you're calibrated.  It probs is a default in fitness mode to save power - we haven't had a need to pause yet.  The battery must be really small compared to prev gen nanos.  Our gen 4 lasts days and days before needing recharging.
The nano 6 is very pricey if you don't use the updated fitness mode and not nearly as popular as it once was.

  • 3rd gen nano shuts off automatically

When I dock my 3rd gen nano into my Bose portable it randomly shuts off and displays the battery charging screen on the nano.
When I press the start button the Bose remote the nano will play again for a few songs then shut off again. This doesn't happen with my ipod video.

I called Apple Support last night to make sure they are aware of this problem. While on the line, we tested a few scenarios, and it seems that the nano only shuts off automatically if the pause / play buttons are used on the Bose Sounddock remote. When I started the nano using its controls rather than the remote, everything worked fine, including adjusting the volume, skipping songs. Only the play / pause button caused the problem, but really, who knows at this point.
I also noticed this problem only after "upgrading" to firmware 1.0.2. I will try to restore the nano to its factory settings this evening (1.0.1) and see what happens.

  • How to keep that valve open for certain period of time and shut off automatically

    Hi everyone,
The objective of the VI is to measure pH and then open acid or base valve based on pH valve. Below is my UNFINISHED VI
My question is:  if, for example, the  pH is 10, then, the program will open acidic valve for 5 seconds and then shut off automatically. After that, wait for 5 second. this process will go on and on as I use while loop, but I just dont know how to control the valve on for 5sec and off and then wait for 5sec.
Anyone can help me out?    Thank you very much
In the picture, please enter those values before running
P.S The VI is based on previously posted vi by someone who made it 1 yrs ago.

    1. The reason the valves close immediately is that the Elapsed Time VI does not cause any wait, it only measures the time. So the valves closed within a small fraction of a second of the time they opened.
    2. I modified your VI to wait until the Elapsed Time has ended.  See the "wait" state.  I probably modified some of your other functionality in the process, but this shows one way you could do the timing.
    3. You do not need any Value property nodes.  They should never be used if the value can be wired directly.
    4. You do not need any sequence structures. Dataflow will determine the order of things occurring.
    5. If you use an enum for the state machine (and it is a good way to name and select states), you should make it a type def. Then when you need to change it as I did to add several states, you only need to change the Type Def in one place and the changes propagate through to every place you used the control or constants derived from it.
    6. I added a Halt state which will close both valves before stopping the program.  When you are controlling a real world process, it is important to consider the start up and shutdown requirements. For example the digital outputs of the USB-6008 default to inputs when the device is first powered up. And, the inputs are pulled high by a 4700 ohm resistor (at least I think I recall that value). Will this open your valves before the program starts running and sets the I/O lines to outputs and forces them low?
The USB-6008 has rather limited drive on the digital lines. You will probably need a buffer between it and the valve coils.
PID and PWM are more complicated than I want to get into here.  First, are your valves proportional or on/off? Second, (assuming that they are on/off) how fast can you open and close them without destroying them in the first week? What is their expected lifetime in terms of the number of operations? How fast do you need to be able to change them to keep your pH where you want it?  Are these values compatible?

I have an ipod shuffle 4th generation. I would like for the music to automatically shut off after one hour long song rather than going to next song on the list. Is this possible?

Sorry, but it's not.  The only way to get this to work is to only put the one hour song on your Shuffle.

Edge has very clear restrictions, one being that you must have 6 months of clean payment history which you don't. Either wait until April 14, or good luck at Sprint.
I am unsure how it can be determined the payment mix up was the fault of CS, but regardless, the mix up was done. There can be any number of reasons why a payment could be missed without any fault on your part, however you are still the responsible party for the account and must live with the repercussions.

  • Automatic Updater will not shut off-keeps freezing computer up

I am on hughesnet, and have a 300 meg daily limit.
Twice now, I have had the automatic updater download updates at the wrong time, and both time it has taken me over my limit, and shutmy speed down to 14.4 kps as a result.
I am going to the updater section in system preferences, and turning the automatic downloading of critical files off, but the system resets itself when the computer is shut off, then turned on again.
Is there a workaround for this?
    Thanks.

    That should not be happening.
Are you running the system as an administrator?
My box is unchecked and it stays that way.
It might be a corrupted .plist - - there are two of them
One in the main library and one in your local user library in the preferences folder
The name of the files is
    com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
You can drag it onto your desktop and then reboot to create a new .plist.
    See if that helps.

  • My 27inch iMac automatically shuts off

My 27 inch iMac will shut off automatically after about 30 to 45 minutes - it will not turn on when using the on/off power button.  I have to unplug from the wall, hold down the on/off power button for 10 seconds, plug it back into the wall then usually, it will turn on.  I have tried using different wall outlets and not using a power strip but unless i follow the previous steps, it will not turn on. I ran an apple diagnostic test - it showed no issues with the hardware.  It was purchased from the apple refurbished store in April of 2013.  For hardware -processor 3.2 GHZ quad core intel core i5 - memory 8GB 1600MHz DDR3,  graphics - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX  -software - OS X, iLife '11

I think you should have received a 1 year warranty on this Mac, so I would take it in and have them fix it for free. If this is happening routinely at about the same time after boot up it sounds like an overheating issue, which is most likely hardware related.

  • TIME CAPSUEL DOSN'T AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF ANYMORE!!  ''HELP PLEASE''

I noticed this evening when I turned my T.C on it whirred up and I thought..
I must time this to see how long it takes to actually shut down and to my amazement it didn't after one hour I had to manually shut it off at the wall and it was roasting hot to the touch I mean it almost burnt me man was it hot, if only the G/F was as hot as this T.C, anyway more seriously back to my problem..
So anyone have any ideas why this would happen yesterday funnily enough it did power down afte a certain amount of time of non activity, why now does it behave like this as it should shut off automatically without me having to intervene and turn it off at the wall switch..
Is there a file in tools that allows me to configure me to select automatic shutdown or is it an automatic event without human intervention..
Any help would be fantastic and I thank you all for looking at this post and hopefully someone will reply with a helpful solution..
Thank you to all in advance..

Well i'm afraid I could never leave the house for 8 hours a day or maybe more and leave all my computer stuff on, anyway with the heat that this time capsule was giving off I would in no way leave the house with that thing running the worry of coming back home to find the Northern Ireland Fire Brigade outside my apartment smouldering under a pile of charcoal and burning embers is a thought too far to even contemplate.. Anyway with the adverts telling everyone to switch off appliances to save the eco system states on standby it would save billions in tonnage of fossil fuels being burnt up into the atmosphere so what you have suggested isn't something I would ever consider for the reasons stated above..
