Shuttle SN25P nforce4 raid 0 install help

Does anybody know how I can install arch on a nforce4 sata raid 0 setup? I bought a shuttle sn25p for gaming and would like to dual boot. When I threw in the arch base cd, it booted up, found my network card, but when I went to partition the hard drive cfdisk gave me an error about not being able to read the partition table... I curently have windows running on the box with a 15G partition open for arch. Any ideas?

Looks like the boot dont pick the pci card , but tries something else.
Try this:
Set the order to cdrom on all
1'st boot device=cdrom
2'nd boot device=cdrom
3'rd boot device=cdrom
Boot other device=enabled
This way it should skip searching for boot records on floppy and internal
ide controllers and go straight to the pci card .
And as in the prevoius reply , i agree. I have tested cluster size 4k and 16k
and with todays fast computers you don't notice any difference.
If you run a server , you might get some better performance with special apps
caused by better I/O ,but for a home machine don't bother.
Been running NTFS with default cluster ever since .
Defrag and other disk maintnance also can give you trouble with anything
else than default size.

I am trying to install the sbs9 demo on a shuttle sn25p with 3 sata
harddisks. Immediately after booting from the foirst (OS) cd I receive the
message: 'exception 14 occurred while booting netware' and some hex
codes. After that the installer falls back to a # and I don't know what to
do.
Because of this problem I tried to install fedora core 4 and xp pro, these
packages installed fine, so my hardware setup must be ok.
Anyone knows what can be the problem, maybe the same problem as described
in the previous post where the installer does not recognize teh nforce4
chipset?

I own as above a MAC PRO (Early 2008) this has a RAID card installed along with two 15k.7 cheetah hdd (320gb) and a spare drive, (which i made a regular drive)
a while ago i had to replace the RAID card battery, so i did this, over a year later the same thing happened again, but as previous just left it and the system seemed fine for ages, until last night i was working in PHOTOSHOP and everything just froze and the screen kind of appeared GREEN, could not do a single thing. So restarted the mac, this time grey screen for ages and a message appeared, (macs version of blue screen) (see attached).
I restarted the machine and this time a flashing question mark folder!
could not do a thing.
so i found my copy of snow leopard and got the computer to run this and at least launch the DISK UTILITY and (Interestingly in the drop down menu RAID UTILITY was also in the menu) but it did not matter which utility i used the (RAID or DISK) neither could see any of drives, just the dvd drive.
so looked around on you tube and various forums and discovered if i take out the RAID CARD and re-plug the main lead from the RAID card back in to the LOGIC BOARD I would be reverting the MAC to a normal regular non-RAID computer.
After performing this HARDWARE task and inserting all three HDD, and running the DISK utility from the drop down menu via the SNOW LEOPARD disc.
(interestingly since the RAID card had been removed the RAID UTILITY from the drop down menu no longer appeared). running disk utility I can now only see the regular (spare) hdd and DVD Drive, but the two RAID HDD , again, still do not show up DISK UTILITY?
O.K. so i could chuck out the RAID card (AND RAID HDD) and just go with a regular set-up, and run a back restore from Time Machine on a NEW hdd purchased.
but what is wrong with the RAID, is the card at fault or are both HDD used for the RAID knackered? can i perform any tests, to see whats what?

hello people, the issue was in fact the GRAPHICS card nothing to do with the HDD or RAID system ( although this did cause issues with the RAID system it basically lost its way) below is my replay to another similar problem some one else had!
working in photoshop and then everything stopped working and the lot froze! only option was to force shutdown (via button).
and try to restart, hoping all was fine, this was not the case :-(
I had the added issue of the RAID card system, that i have, this was confused to say the lease and would not behave or work, causing the start up to hang.
so i thought the HDD must be bust and the root cause. ( but soon learnt it was not the cause )
...bought a new HDD removed the RAID card and replugged the cable from RAID card into LOGIC board, ( making the computer act like any normal non-RAID system). I managed to install the OSX, using the snow leopard disk way. once the mac was running, i started to notice the screen would flicker and started to see 'artefacts'. so i started to reveal my symptoms to the web and forums and soon discovered that my graphics card could be the issue all along?.
(nvidia geforce 8800gt 2x dvi).
I read up on that a fix, could be either A. reply the thermal paste, as the card could be over heating or B. stick the card in the oven trick.
Tried option A. first and nothing still issues, so last night took the plunge carried out option B. and ta da it worked! i even managed to run
from my new HDD my lasted install OS X, absolutely fine. I then thought, maybe i could repair my RAID so replugged all the HARDWARD back in and
carried out a disk repair and disk permissions on drives( took a small amount of time), via the SNOW LEOPARD disc - (Disk utilities) and this worked and now have my system working as it was just over 6 days ago.
what was the cost to get this? bought a new hdd so 40.00gbp and thermal paste and cleaner kit ( your still need to do this ) search video card trick on you tube.
and renew thermal paste, approx 15.00gbp, technically i don't need the new HDD, but it was all part of the trial and error way i went. ( i do have extra storage as a result!)"

How do I partition a disc with a raid card installed for fcp x and motion

Hi,
I have just downloaded fcp x and purchased motion but have found out the drivers for my AJA io HD are not available as yet so decided to revert to FCP 6.5. My system now runs like a dog and then I discovered FCP x and Motion should be installed on a separete partition. I have a Raid card installed on my mac and the application disc disk does not enough space so do not know what I should do. Any help would be welcome.

The issues I have is No drivers for Aja ioHD so I cant test FCP X to see how it works. When I return to my FCP version 6 it just does not run like it used to and keeps hanging the Aja ioHD so I have to keep refreshing. My motion projects on the FCP timeline now do not open in the old version of motion so I cant round robin as before. My main disc does not have enough space to run FCP X projects and a post on Apple forum said to run FCP X and Motion on a new partition if you still need to use FCP 6. As I have a Raid card with enough space, If I created a partition on it for fcp X and Motion 5 would FCP 6 work properly again.
I could not see how to create a partition on the Raid drive?

A box keeps appearing saying Application wants to install Helper and asking for my password to access the hard drive. It just doesn't feel right to me and I wonder if it is genuine. Would be grateful for any advice.

Like an idiot, I actually entered my password, Safari crashed, and now it won't open. CS5.5 install help!

I have just purchased CS5.5 but installation will not work (I've tried 5 times!). I have disabled my anti-virus, and my firewall and there are no previous versions on my PC! Unfortunately it is very hard to get in touvh with Adobe! The phone number for Australia is disconnected (if you have an Australian phone number for support I would be very grateful!!!)...and even the Education support number I tried the other day won't answer - have been on hold for 2 x 20minutes with no one answering! And the "chat" option...I've sat and waited for an operator to be available for ages...no operators available!
I have disabled my anti-virus, and firewall, checked that I have all the appropriate plug-ins ie. Java, Quicktime etc and my computer is brand new, Windows 7 with no previous version of Creative Suite! I have no idea what I'm doing wrong!!!

hi, could you please help me, i am stuck.
i accidently deleted my raid drivers, when i flashed my bios, and i have finnaly managed to reinstall them
i have windows installed on one maxtor 160 sata drive
and other data on 3 maxtor 300gb sata drives whixh where raided
now i can get into windows fine, but i cant see the other dirves, it just shows them indivualy as 3 raw drives
is there any way i can re-raid them, and get the stuff from them back, if so how

even lucky to pass this step, boot to xp cd, hit F6 then insert the floppy, and install the 376/378 driver(tryed about 4 different driver), 3 line show on the blue screen" presse Enter to install windows xp, press R for recovery, press F3 to quit" hit Enter, another blue screen says "cant find hard drive, check the cable and power connecter.....", something like that, oh i am soooo pissed off :(.......
someone plz help, any suggests are welcome!!!

the amps on the psu is okay but you didnt supply 5v but that should not be a problem

if not then delete all arrays and then create 1 array.
raid 0 for performance.

Help Promise 378 Sata (non raid) Windows install

Ok I am now atempting a fresh WinXP install on my new WD Raptor.
The Problem being that XP setup does not see my Sata drive.
After F6 it gives me the following choices...
"Win2000 Promise Sata378 Controller"
"WinNT Promise Sata378 Controller"
"Win Server 2003 Promise FastTrak 376/378 Controller"
"WinXP Promise FastTrak 376/378 Controller"
The Obvious selection #4 has been tried multiple times, it never see's my Sata drive.
Options 1&2 give error as I did not copy Win2000 and WinNT folders on floppy.
Is XP based on NT or 2000? I dont remember.
Floppy was made according to "makedisk.txt in the 378_55.exe.
Ive tried multiple Bios settings under "On chip Ide configuration"
If you read my earlier post I had a problem with my current Windows install loading raid drivers by default. I think Xp setup is doing the same thing. How do I get it to load Sata drivers instead?
Thinking Promise or MSI (whoever) should have gone to the trouble of configuring seperate files, ie. 378_Raid.exe 378_Sata.exe!
Yes I have Changed boot order to the sata drive. Order is floppy, CD, Sata, Other (yes).
Tried legacy and native modes, Sata only and both etc. etc.
Still think the problem is with the floppy. Probably the "txtsetup.oem" file. But Im not enuff of a wizard to edit it proper.

Check the sata configuration in bios.
I set it in auto (it has auto,disabled enhanced and one more option,i don't remember)
or a 848p neo2-v board and it worked!
If you don't see it recognised by your bios it won't be recognised by windows either!
So don't bother letting it start the boot from cd unless you can see your drive in the bios.
What i suggest is that you continuously press delete at boot,
go into bios, change some settings, press F10, reboot,press delete again and if you still
don't see your drive,try others settings,press F10 etc.
Go into boot from cd,that is, xp installation ONLY AFTER you can see your drive in bios.

Help the unknowing with Raid- cant install windows!

Hello all- I am new to all this but...
I hope someone can help...I just built a new computer using a K8N neo4 (7100) with a 4400+ X2 and maxtor diamondmax 10 sata...amongst other things. I had been using an old copy XP home but decided to buy xp professional and do a clean install with a slipstreamed CD. I have tried with the sata drivers slipstreamed and the f6 method, but every time I arrive at the "installing devices" segment of the GUI setup- windows installs the wrong driver for my hard drive (a new hardware found wizard pops up) and I get a BSOD...
Amongst my research- I have used this page pretty heavily because it seems to be my problem-

but I seem to be missing a driver somewhere or something. The funny thing is that a basic xp home setup will do the same thing but struggle thru setup and fix the problem after I boot into windows. I integrate the drivers for textmode in the setup- but do I need to physically copy them to setup folders before I create the iso?? Any ideas? thanks for your time-

In that case, maybe I just need a rock-solid recommendation around 200 gig and I will just upgrade, or just change my boot drive. Anyway I suppose I could nlite my standard XP Pro and add the service pack from there...but my perfectionist side really hates that. Thanks for any input-
