SID not recognized during install

When installing the OID choice from the 8.1.7 NT installation disk, the OID installer will not recognize the SID of the existing database, variations of the TNSnames configuration have yeilded no result.
I cannot get OID installed at all under 2000.
Thanks
Rob

Is it possible that you have removed all or some of the
registries for the database instance you are trying to install
to?
Is there any reason why you can't install OID in a new instance
by itself. If you do a default installation of OID it will create
a new isntance for you.

hard drive not recognized during windows server 2008 setup

    Hi,
Whether the hard disk is recognized in BIOS?
Connect it to another computer to see if it could be recognzied incase the cause is the disk itself. Also please check if it is really a RAID instead of a single hard disk - a single disk should be recognized directly while RAID cannot be recognized until
    a suitable driver is installed.

  • Mac App Store not recognizing previously installed Apple applications

Mac App Store is not recognizing previously installed Apple applications (Aperture 3; iLife'11; iWorks'09) as already purchased and installed. These were installed either via download from the Apple Store or from install discs. Prior to the 10.6.7 update, at least some of these applications were recognized as already installed by the Mac App Store. This is no longer the case.

However, it now says that the software that came with my Mac Book Air (iLife) and other software must be re-purchased!
No, it doesn't say you must re-purchase them. You can continue to use those apps as they are. There is no requirement for you to re-purchase them. If you wish to have lifetime updates, you can purchase the version on the app store which will give you that. However, you still have the same license to use those bundled apps the same as everyone else.
This is wrong, at least for the Mac Book Air 2010 and forward purchases because of Mr Jobs announcement back in October.
What did he say that makes you think that?
No! Apple must make good on this. Why should Apple give me iLife with an MBA and tell me that I'm getting an App Store and then deny those software to be excluded from being "installed"? This is wrong.
No, you are wrong. You received the standard bundled apps that were bundled with every other Mac. The App store only reports on apps actually purchased from the app store (apparently correctly, now). Your bundled apps were not purchased from the Mac App Store. They were bundled with your Mac.
    Apple reps (you guys here)
They are not, at least the ones you wish to talk to.
MUST escalate this issue for computers/software purchased from that October announcement and understanding.
Why? You didn't buy a "Mac App Store" bundle with your Mac. As I explained above, you received applications bundled with your Mac. They still work. You have not been cheated in any way.

  • Wireless recognized during install but not after

    Hi guys,
I just installed Archlinux using my wireless network (i've installed ANYTHING, no drivers, no firmwares). Everything gone fine but after the installation I rebooted my system and... SURPRISE! The system couldn't bring up the wlan0 interface (recognized by ifconfig -a) because of: SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such file or directory
So after investigating, I found that I need the ralink driver. In fact, I've downloaded it and putted in /lib/firmware
Now I can bring up my IF but when I use THE SAME wpa_supplicant.conf file used during install, nothing, it doesn't work.
If you need more details tell me, but first of all... WHY during the install everything went fine and after no?! Is it a bit strange... no?
    Thanks all
(using Archlinux x64 on Acer 5735z)

At least for rt2870sta, it's a retarded bug in Linux that was introduced in 2.6.31 and is still not fixed. It works in the live environment because it has an older kernel.
    Kernel 2.6.31 module conflicts
The 2.6.31 kernel caused the rt2870 driver to conflict with other wireless modules. The fix in this thread says that you need to blacklist the rt2800usb rt2x00usb and rt2x00lib modules by modifying the MODULES array in /etc/rc.conf
    MODULES=( ... !rt2800usb !rt2x00usb !rt2x00lib ... )

  • Scsi controller not recognized during ftp install

    Hi all,
As you can tell, this is my first post and my first attemp to install arch.  I downloaded the latest ftp install floppies "Arch Linux 0.5 (Nova)" and  I am trying to install arch on a PII system with and Adaptec 2940UW controller and no cdrom.  I can boot from Tom's recue disk:
    http://www.toms.net/rb/
and the controller is recognized and I can use fdisk to partition the drive.
However, when I boot from the arch install floppies, the controller is not recognized.  When I manually load the module for the controller, ie. aic7xxx, lsmod shows it as unused.
After looking at the boot log using dmesg, I noticed the following, which I don't understand:
    kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k scsi_hostadapter, errno=2
Is this a kernel issue and does anyone have any pointers for me?
    Thanks
    Kevin
PS: I tried my best to search for a related topic.

Thanks for the reply.  It still doesn't work for me.
I noticed that the floppy images have been updated -- the md5sum's have changed.  I will give them a try.
As an aside, the listed md5sum's for the new images don't match the downloads.  I downloaded from several mirrors and I get the same sums, which don't match the sums listed.

  • "User Not Recognized" when installing UPK with Windows Authentication

    Hi all,
When installing UPK Server with Windows Authentification mode, everything work fine until when the installer starts populating the Library. I get an error message saying "User is not recognized. Please enter a valid administrator user name and password. Click OK to enter another name or click Cancel to stop the upgrade process."
I tried using "my current Window account" and different Windows account when asking to give a default Developer admin login during the install but I still get the same message.
I might be forgeting something this time since I have installed UPK tones of times and never got this error.
    Many thanks.

    Hello,
Thank you!! After much testing and environment and OS changes, I found out that I totally forgot my Windows administration from over 7 years ago on a security feature that Microsoft put into their OS's. If you are using a friendly DNS name to publish to your clients (instead of them typing in the server name as the URL) and you want to utilize Windows authentication, a registry entry will need to be entered in order for the OS to be allowed to pass the windows auth through to that URL as well.
    Example registry entry:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\MSV1_0]
    "BackConnectionHostNames"=hex(7):
    KB Article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896861
In Registry Editor, locate and then click the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\MSV1_0
Right-click MSV1_0, point to New, and then click Multi-String Value.
Type BackConnectionHostNames, and then press ENTER.
Right-click BackConnectionHostNames, and then click Modify.
In the Value data box, type the host name or the host names for the sites that are on the local computer, and then click OK.

  • MacBook Pro 3,1   2007 disk not recognized at install

    Hi,
I installed SnowLeopard on two of my Macs without problem. Trying the same on my MacBook Pro 3,1 2007 with a 320GB drive gives me a headache. I erased the volume completely, started up from the install-DVD and clicked install. However, the installer did not recognize the volume and did not list it in the selection window. Even running DiskWarrior on the empty volume did not change things. Several attempts to no avail.
The earlier system was 10.5.8 with the latest updates.
I also notice that the Installer DVD takes a long time to start up and to initialize the installer.
Does anybody have an idea why the volume would not be recognized?

Hi donv: I repartitioned, rechecked with DU, even ran a hardware test, still not recognizing the HDD from within the (family pack) installer.
Restoring 10.5.8 works and the machine boots just fine. I am at a loss.
The disk is a WDC WD3200BEVT-22ZCT0. Could the disk be a problem? A year ago a certified technician replaced the original disk with this one.

  • [SOLVED]Hard Disk not recognized when installing

Hey all, I'm just starting with Arch and I've had some trouble installing it on my Acer netbook.
My first installation went well except that I had forgot to download the wireless tools so I decided to do a fresh install as I had no access to a wired connection at the time.  The second installation attempt must have had some error on my part as Arch failed to start after selecting it from Grub, saying that the kernel was not available/not recognized.
Now my subsequent attempts at installing have failed because the hard disk is not recognized when running either cgdisk or cfdisk.  Instead of showing my hard drive partitions after running
    cfdisk /dev/sda
it shows my usb drive. If I instead use
    cgdisk /dev/sda
it displays an error saying that the disk is damaged or not recognized.  When I first saw this I thought my disk was failing, so I tried #! to see if it would show the same error, but it was able to recognize the entire disk and install correctly.  Now, even after having the entire disk formatted as ext4 with #! installed, cgdisk is still giving me the same error about a damaged disk.
Am I doing something incorrectly or is there a fix for this?  I haven't been able to find any information about this after a good while of searching.
    Thanks for your help.

srs5694 wrote:The cgdisk "damaged disk" error is probably a result of the tool seeing an MBR partition table on your USB flash drive, rather than the GPT disk it's expecting. If I'm right, you should not follow s1ln7m4s7r's advice, since that will simply trash your USB flash drive!
If you mean by trashing the USB flash drive, that it will delete all data and partitions on the selected drive it is correct, because:
    dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/$disk bs=4096 count=1
    - this will delete all partition-table data
    sgdisk -o /dev/$disk
    - this will clear out all data. This includes GPT header data, all partition definitions, and the protective MBR.
    /dev/$disk
    - this will make you enter ncurses-based GUID partition table (GPT) manipulator, where you can create new partitions
You should only do this if you are certain of what disk it is.
Now if when you said this, you were meaning it will became broken, then it may be a special kind of usb drive because i've donne it many times and i've not broken any.
srs5694 wrote:My guess is that either your hard disk has become /dev/sdb (this can happen in some cases; disk identifiers aren't really fixed) or you're missing a driver for your hard disk controller because you've booted a different kernel or a different initrd file. Another possibility is that there's a hardware fault -- probably a loose cable -- that's preventing the kernel from seeing the disk.
If the usb drive is not where you installed arch, then you need to find if there are more recognized drives:
    lsblk | grep disk
And see the uuid of the root partition you want, and add it to your bootloader boot line:
    blkid /dev/sdxx

  • Apple keyboard not recognized while installing WinXP

I posted my WinXP Pro installation problems earlier in this forum but I think having recognized the problem: When Bootcamp boots the machine from the WinXP-CD, it seems that my USB-keyboard (tried both: aluminium and old white plastic) is not recognized, meaning that I cannot input anything to tell the Win installer to proceed. The symptom I see is that the green light of the caps lock key is not there. This probably means that the keyboard is not connected as it should be. Could it be that this is due to the OS 10.5.6 Update? On earlier machines and with earlier versions of Leopard I did not have this problem.
    Please advise.

Same here until my partner provided her usual keen insight - use a Windows keyboard!
Until you have completed the WinXP installation and then re-inserted your OS X/Mac Install CD 1, Windows can only establish comms with a Windows-specific keyboard, not a Mac-specific keyboard. The Win USB Mac-keyboard drivers contained in Boot Camp are not installed until you start up the OS X/Mac Install CD 1....
Microsoft Comfort Curve Keyboard 2000 worked for me (~£20). Will probably continue using this when running WinXP for any extended period; saves having to learn new key combinations.
BTW: I found that once WinXP was installed, downloading and installing the drivers contained in Boot Camp 2.1 from the Apple website greatly improved both control (eg Nvidia driver) and responsiveness of WinXP.
Hope you (all) find this useful; thanks are due entirely to my partner, bless her.

  • USB not recognized during restore

Trouble with upgrading software, the process hangs in the restore, keep getting error 1604, wondering if the USB is getting reset in the restore process?  I have turned off the virus protections, etc. so that should not be the problem.

Here is an extract from the apple site dealing 1604.  Hope it helps.
Error 1604: This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, uninstalling and reinstalling USB ports, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections, device not recognized properly, computer won't recognize a FireWire or USB device). If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for error 1604.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while iPhone remains connected.
iPhone should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

  • Hardware not recognized when installed via an image

In our labs we use a lot of computers with various NI cards in it. All the computers are the same. The installation of the computers is done via an image over a network. When a new image is loaded, the hardware in the PC is not recognized, even if the computer configuration is exactly the same as on the image. An administrator has to log in every single computer, to run MAX. How can this be done automatically?

    Hello sillyprimate
As I understand it you wish to get your 128gb SSD to be recognized by your HP Pavilion dv6-7029wm. Unfortunately, as per the HP Pavilion dv6 Entertainment PC Maintenance and Service Guide for your computer located here your computer supports only the 160-GB drive SSD. This would be why it is not being recognized by your computer.
I hope this helps resolve your issue. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Ipod not recognized after installing itunes 7.3

I've upgraded to itunes 7.3 on my Windows Vista desktop and now none of my IPODs are recognized and I'm getting the following message:
"your IPOD needs to be reformatted for use with Windows"
I've double checked and my IPOD shows that it is formatted for windows. And, when I go to try to restore my IPOD, I get an error message saying that it cannot be restored.
I do NOT have this problem on my Windows laptop - everything works fine with iTunes 7.3 on my laptop.
Is this a problem with Windows Vista and iTunes 7.3??
    Does anyone have any ideas?

macfixit.com has instructions on how to go to oldapps.com and revert to iTunes 7.2 :
iTunes 7.3 (#3): Downgrading to iTunes 7.2; Deleting and restoring the library for -50 errors; more
Downgrading to iTunes 7.2 For many serious issues with iTunes 7.3, the only viable fix is reversion to iTunes 7.2. Unfortunately, Apple does not maintain old versions of iTunes. As such, if you did not keep a copy of the iTunes 7.2 installer (as described here), your options are limited. Fortunately, OldApps has a mirrored copy of iTunes 7.2 available for download.
In order to downgrade to iTunes 7.2, follow these steps:
    1. Delete the following files:
The iTunes 7.3 application (located in /Applications)
    com.apple.iTunes.plist (from ~/Library/Preferences)
    iTunes.pkg (from /Library/Receipts)
    iTunesX.pkg (from /Library/Receipts)
    2. Download and install iTunes 7.2

  • Speakers not recognized during te

Hello, I have a X-Fi XtremeMusic soundcard and Klipsch 5. Promedia setup for my computer. I recently moved, and when I reassembled my computer & speaker system the rear speakers were not responding when I tested them in both the THX setup as well as the creative speaker connection wizard. Nonetheless, when I play music sound is emitted from all speakers. The speaker system works, but the problem with the testing still bothers me. I could rearrange the speakers and guess which ones are the front speakers by the amount of noise they emit during a song, but I would much rather determine which speakers are which by the proper software tests. I've reset my speaker system and have the latest drivers for the card. Any help/suggestions are appreciated. Thanks. -Dom
