Side by side photos in Editor?

OK, now this one is probably real easy, but I'm not too proud to ask for help!
In PSE 7 I could manipulate the size of the photos/windows and have an array of photos on the work space; especially useful when comparing several edited versions of a single photo.
With the tabbed system in PSE 9, so far I can only manage one image showing at a time.
The side by side view in the project bin is useless in this context.
So -  how is it done?

Glad to help.
Yep, things are more complicated but then again we've got more options to customize PSE to our liking....

  • Why can't i see the Toolbox - the support documents talk about a toolbox but I don't have anything on the right hand side of my editor.

I can't find the toolbox on the right hand side of the editor. ANy ideas why??

I haven't seen this documented anywhere, and I can't replicate it for Administrator / Partner users of BC sites, but the toolbox does get closed (by default?) for some users in some circumstances.
To get it back, you'll need to click the 'Add Modules' button, which is on the page editor between the "Page Content" heading, and the WYSWIG editor window.

  • Opening photo in Editor problem

I just installed PSE 12 on my new iMac. When I try to open a photo from iPhoto, I am getting the following message, "Could not complete your request because Photoshop Elements does not recognize this type of file." How do I access my photos to edit them?

You cannot use iphoto that way. PSE can't open photos from iphoto because if it were to write to your iphoto library it could easily corrupt it and cause the loss of all the images there. You should NEVER poke around in the iphoto library from outside iphoto.
    You have two choices:
    1. Set PSE as your external editor and send the photos from iphoto. Save, not save as without changing the name or format and iphoto will remember your last saved edits and the original, but you will need to lose the edits to revert back to the original. You will need to go to the PSE preferences>saving files and set On First Save to Save over existing to make this work. When you see the Save As window, something is wrong.
    2. Export the photos from iphoto, use file>open in the editor and make all the changes you want, then save your image in any format or with any name you like and import the edited photo back to iphoto as a new file. This lets you save as many versions of your photo as you like.

  • Photo Shop editor

Photo Shop installs but editor will not run.  Organizer works normally

You are  correct in your observation that Photoshop is a professional-level application that makes no apologies for its long and steep learning curve.
For your purposes, you may want to look at Photoshop Elements, which is a simpler version of the full Photoshop with a lot of hand-holding features for beginners and amateurs.  It costs only a very small fraction of what Photoshop costs.
You can download the trial version and see for yourself if it fits your needs.
This forum here is for the full version of Photoshop only.  If you have any further questions, please visit the Ps Elements forum:

  • Opening RAW photo in editor - cannot add a layer or make adjustments.

Greetings - I have recently upgraded to Photoshop Elements 13. I have a Nikon and I am shooting in RAW. Recently I have found that when I open a photo in the Editor - the vast majority of actions are grayed out. I cannot add a layer - or make other adjustments to the photo. I am opening the photo - it opens in ACR - and then I click on Open button. This is where the trouble is. I have checked the photo bin and in other areas of my computer and the photo is not open in another area. Please see the screen shot of the editor with the photo - I have tried several photos opening them directly from my computer and from the organizer and I am getting the same issue.  I do hope you can help -

You will be using a 16 bit image and need to change to 8 bits.
You can do that in the camera raw dialog before sending the image into the regular editor. There is a dropdown menu to the left of the Open Image button. Or you can do it inside the regular editor using the top menu:
    Image >> Mode >> 8 Bits/Channel

  • Save multiple photos from editor

    Hi,
When I have finished my work on multiple photos in the editor and I want to save it then I must save every picture separate.
Is there a possibility to save all photos in one run.
    Thanks for answers.

In case you want to save them with a naming covention and other things try File->Process Multiple Files. There choose opened files from the options and use various other options as suitable.
You can`t save these files in one go with the normal way.

  • Photo & Video Editor

I have upgraded my Nokia Belle Feature Pack 1 to (FP2) 113.010.1506 - Firmware ...
But I have lost my Photo & Video Edito.
    So how can I get?
    Please help...

Is your device network branded or generic SIM free version, as they disappeared at one point to be subsequently available via SW upates upon device itself?
Even so you will find that there are reduced options available in new Photo Editor with only Rotate, Flip, Crop, Resize, Effects, Clip art and Frames compared with Rotate, Resize, Crop, Clipart, Fun, Draw, Bubble text, Frame, Red eye, Stamp, Effect, Tuning, and Animation in previous version.
Whilst it may be technically feasible to recover these applications, it is beyond the remit of this manufacturer's sponsored forum:

  • Help move photos from editor to organizer

This should be an easy task and I am familiar with editing a photo taken from the organizer and then returning it to an album or folder.  My problem is with a photo sent to me as an attachment to an email in another program (often Picasa).  This photo can be opened in Elements Editor and worked with in the usual fashion but I am stumped on how to then move it in my Organizer and appropriate folder or album.  Would appreciate some advice.

    1. When you finish editing use File >> Save As; then choose a folder where you want it saved.
    2. To add to an album drag an album icon on to the thumbnail in Organizer.

  • Batch Photo Keyword Editor

Hi there, Mac newbie here, I've only had my mac for a month or so, but slowly getting up to speed with it.
Does anyone know if there is any applications that enable users to batch edit keywords within images? I know iPhoto and Aperture perform such a task, but I dont want to use these as I already have my photos organised on disk, and importing them just adds another step. Ideally I'd like to be able to do this via an option in Finder, that would be very neat.
I then want to create Smart Folders (I am very impressed with Spotlight!) to look for certain keywords. I know this part works, but I've got thousands of photos that I need to add keywords to.
    Thanks,
    Jamin

You really would be much better of using a photo app for this kind of work.
The Finder is a *file browser* and cannot work with much of the metadata that your camera writes to the Exif. I'm pretty sure it hasn't a clue what to do with IPTC.
Dedicated photo apps are about the Photos. Unlike the Finder they write keywords to the metadata of the photos, not file metadata. And that's the standard way to store metadata about your pics. Fr a start, the Finder sorts on File dates, not on the Photos dates contained in your Exif and they are frequently not the same thing.
Using iphoto, Aperture, Lightroom, Picasa etc does not add extra steps. They replace your current workflow with one geared to working with Photographs not files.
Heres an answer I post over in the iPhoto forum when the question of using Keywords comes up.
    I keyword on a
    Who
    What
Where basis (The When is in the photos's Exif metadata). I also rate the pics on a 1 - 5 star basis.
Using this system I can find pretty much find any pic in my 25k library in a couple of seconds.
So, for example, I have a batch of pics titled 'Seattle 08' and a typical keywording might include: John, Anne, Landscape, mountain, trees, snow. With a rating included it's so very easy to find the best pics we took at Mount Rainier.
    File -> New Smart Album
    set it to 'All"
    title contains Seattle
    keyword is mountain
    keyword is snow
    rating is 5 stars
Or, want a chronological album of John from birth to today?
    New Smart Album
    Keyword is John
Set the View options to Sort By Date Ascending
    Want only the best pics?
add Rating is greater than 4 stars
The best thing about this system is that it's dynamic. If I add 50 more pics of John to the Library tomorrow, as I keyword and rate them they are added to the Smart Album.
Keywording takes time to set up, there's no doubt about it. I use Keyword Manager as it's much more powerful than the inbuilt system, and adds the possibility of nested keywords. So, for instance, if I add John to a photo it also adds 'Family'. Now I can add many keywords to a pic quickly.
In the end, organisation is about finding the pics. The point is to make locating that pic or batch of pics findable fast.
    Try that in the Finder.
    Regards
    TD

  • OS X Photo effects editor?

What is the best app on OS X (Yosemite, 10.10.2) to take a existing photo and add effects to it?
I am writing a children's story and want to take a photo and manipulate it to make it look like a hand drawn B&W picture based on the original photo. Or, in another case, take an existing photo and make it look like a water color depiction.
I remember playing with apps that do this sort of color manipulation in the past, but don't know what it was.
Does photo booth let you make changes to photos like that? iPhoto?

I'm looking to go away from some of the free editors and organizers, but finding the solution that is best for me is challenging.  For a basic photo / video editor and organization what product would statisfy my needs? Hi,
Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor is now available on Mac App Store to download. It is Editor only and does not have Organizer similar to PSE 10 Editor on Mac App Store.

  • Problem with photo editor in n 96 helppppppppppppp

the inbuilt photo editor in my n96 is not working can anybody help when i try to edit a photo the editor opens but it shows a blank window what to do?

    Open Photos.
    Select a picture to Edit.
    Select OPTIONS -> EDIT
    (Opening dialog takes place)
Now you should see a window with Tools superimposed to your picture.
Select what you want to edit.
If you are using a different editor let me know...
Try first with a picture you took with the phone before trying some other type of pictures, just to check that it's ok.

  • Printing from PSE8 Editor

Can anyone help me with a problem I have printing from PSE 8 Editor.
I keep my unedited photos in PSE8 Organiser. When I am trying to select the best photos from a group of, say, ten photos for printing I open all ten in PSE8 Editor. I now edit each photo in the Editor and examine them to see which are the best ones and I will wish to do a trial print of each of those. This is where I hit the problem.
If I select one of the ten photos open in Editor and try to print it I will get a strip down the left side of the Editor screen showing all ten photos. If I want to print just the selected one of the ten I have to remove the other nine from this list or all ten will be printed. If the photos are all very similar it is difficult to select visually which ones to remove from the list because the list does not show their names.
What I would like is to:
    a) eliminate this list feature altogether so that only the photo I have as the selected image in Editor is printed, or
    b) have the list show only those photos I have explicitly selected for printing from the ten I have open in the Editor, or
    c) have the list show the file names so that I can at least identify the ones I don't want to print in this instance so that I can remove them from the list.
I explained all this previously to Adobe but I don't seem to be understood. To illustrate the issue please try this. Open ten similar photos in Editor. Select one of those ten and select print. You will get a strip showing all ten down the left of your screen. If you just continue with the printing all ten will be printed. To print just the one you want you will have to identify and remove the other nine photos from the list. Having done all that and printed that one photo now select another of the ten photos in Editor and again select print. You will again get a list of all ten photos open in the Editor and you will again have to identify and remove from the list the other nine. Repeat this for a few more photos and you will be (like me) screaming with fury at the stupid thing. So, am I doing something stupid or is there a way to get around this behaviour?

I have PEv.8, and below the work space in Editor, there is the project bin. On the left there is the tool box, configurable as one column or two columns.
Multiple open files are represented in the project bin as thumbnails. There are 2 dropdown boxes: (1) to show open files or files from organizer (2) re bin files. Which options are ticked on your machine?
Please post a print screen representing what you see.
