Sidebar Places Folders NOT working as a Smart Folder

I have three sidebar Places Folders that I originally made, but now they do not work as an expected Smart Folder. The additional problem is I cannot remove these sidebar folders by simply dragging them OFF the side bar. If I right click on these three problem sidebar folders I am only allowed to "Open Sidebar Preferences" and further more the sidebar folder cannot be highlighted. What can I do to remove these folders from the sidebar?

I was looking into the issue you are desribing, and found a great article for troubleshooting wifi connections with iOS devices. It's called iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections and can be found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398.
Start with this section, and work your way down if needed.
Basic troubleshooting
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and then on again.
Verify that you are in range of your Wi-Fi router or base station.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and Cable/DSL modem are connected to power and turned on.
Check whether other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware.For AirPort Base Stations, refer to this article for information about firmware updates. For third-party Wi-Fi routers, check the manufacturer's website for details on updating your firmware.
Restart your iOS deviceHold the On/Off button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the On/Off button to turn it back on.

Facebook chat sidebar disabler is not working any more, It worked until yesterday( April 9) but suddenly it stops working, I really need help to solve my problem.

An update to this add-on was posted on April 11th. Does this update fix the issue?

Smart folders not working...

I've got some smart folders that just stopped working... I haven't changed the definitions and they were working fine, but all of a sudden they are not.
The one that is not working is defined with 3 things, one of them is another smart filter. This has always worked in the past.
I booted the machine, and inso doing went in and out of mail. Is there anything to reset?

I found a work around... but I'm still curious why this stopped working...
The original logic was to have a sort of pre-filter Smart Mailbox with tons of conditions with "Any" selected. Then the second folder had "All" selected with "In the pre-filter mailbox" and "in the inbox selected". This stopped working and I had to then change it to "In the pre-filter mailbox" and "not in the specific folder I later sort into" This isn't quite as useful since sometimes I sort into different folders, but it did work.
I'm on 10.4.10 on a PPC iMac G5 1GB DDR2 SDRAM... I've done all the updates Apple can put out here except the iPod stuff since I'm not in that world... yet.

Upgrade from Tiger makes smart folders not work any more.

I tag certain categories of applications with Spotlight comments, and create a smart folder to find those files with that Spotlight comment. This way I can have a folder for 'games', for example.
Those smart folders don't work any more in Snow Leopard.
The Spotlight comments are still there, tho.
Here is what is stranger. If I recreate the smart folder, it still does not work.

Ug! I have to reenter all the Spotlight comments on each Application. That fixes it.
Not sure if recreating smart folders was necessary, tho.

IPhoto 9.4.3-keyword "" not working correctly in smart albums

Every May I work on the 5th Grade recognition slideshow (using Keynote) for our 5th grade students. In iPhoto, I always give photos the checkmark keyword after I've placed that photo so that I know it's been added/used. I have many smart photo albums with keywords like "5th graders 2012-2013" and others like the checkmark.
None of the smart albums seem to be recognizing and using the checkmark even though it's one of the smart album criteria. For example, I have a smart album called
"5th grade-already used" which has the criteria Match All: Keyword is "5th graders-2012-2013" and Keyword is "✔". However, even after giving some photos the checkmark keyword, this smart album shows up empty.
Similarly, I have another smart album called "5th-Still to use" which has criteria Match All: Keyword is "5th graders-2012-2013" and Keyword is not "✔". The photos that I've placed the checkmark on are STILL showing up here.
These smart albums have always worked before. Has anyone else noticed issues with the checkmark keyword not working properly? It has to have happened with an update sometime in the past year.

When I went to open the library using iPhoto Library Manager, it had to upgrade the library to work with this version of iPhoto.
That's normal.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

SSAS Display Folders not working properly after using Translations

Hi
I have a Cube with many fact tables and each having many measures.So for user convience i have created display folder for measures inside measure groups and everything was working fine.
But now i have created Translation (English(United States)) for measures,Calculated member and Dimensions and Processed.I observed that the display folders are working for calculated measures but weirdly the other measures display folder property is not
getting applied.
Please let me know if anybody came cross this and fixed.

According to your description, your display folders in not working after using translation. Right?
In Analysis Services, this is a known bug. However, we have workaround for this issue.
Solution:
1. Locate your cube in Solution Explorer
2. Right click on it and choose 'View code'
3. Find the corresponding <Translation> tag - look for the Foreign name of your Calculated member
4. Below the <Caption> tag place a line with <DisplayFolder> tag. The properties within Translation tag should look like:
              <Language>1001</Language>
              <Caption>Foreign name of Calculated member</Caption>
              <DisplayFolder>Foreign name for the display folder</DisplayFolder>
5. Repeat for all your calculated members.

Watch Folders Not Working

I have recently upgraded to PSE 9 and like it a lot. I managed to import my catalogues and things look fine. However, the watch folder feature that worked so well in PSE 8 is not working at all in 9. I have it set to the correct folders, but none of them are watching. What can I do?

I would like to bump this because I too cannot get Wacth folders to watch.
I am using a network share, and unless I am doing something wrong, it doesnt work.
I have a RAW image I open in Camera Raw. I modify it, then convert it to a jpg and have it saved into the same place the RAW file is located. I would expect the orginizer to see the added file and auto add it to the orginizer because this is what the feature claims to do, but nothing happens.

Paste in Place shortcut not working

My Paste in Place shortcut (cmd+shift+v) is not working in Adobe Illustrator CC (Updated) for Mac OS X.
It works when I manually press the command in the edit menu, but not when I use the keystrokes
When the shortcut is initiated, the software behaves as if nothing was pressed
It is showing as the proper shortcut when I view my shortcut preferences
When I try to re-type the shortcut in the preferences, it acts as if nothing was pressed
I've tried uninstalling SubScribe Plug-in
I've tried uninstalling Illustrator and then downloading again
I've tried resetting Illustrator preferences
I'm using the Apple Wireless Keyboard
I've tried using another keyboard and that didn't work either

What about Cmd+V for Paste (centre of the view), Cmd+F (place in front in the same place), or Cmd+B (place in back in the same place)?
Have you actually selected an object to paste?
Did you reinstall using the full three step way?
Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

Aperture and Places does not work

Hi,
i have the newest Version of OSX Lion and of Aperture 3. The Places function does not work. All Buttons and functions which are assosciated with the function of GPS are grey. I have no possibility to push any Button that has something to do with GPS Information. The Map ist a little bit light and i cannot zoom in it. It also has noch Needles to show locations. If i import some Pictures with geoinformation, aperture do not show it on the map. Some ideas please! Thank you very much.

I also have the same problem, after 5 minutes I can't open or place anything in illustrator. I have this problem also in photoshop cc 2014. This started after installing Yosemite.
Tried to reinstall but nothing helps.
Today after updating creative cloud application it is even worse: illustrator is not opening anything: not even a new file. So I reinstalled... and I can open again for 5 minutes. But then it crashed while saving. Now I can't open illustrator at all...so nothing left to do then reinstalling again I suppose?

Hiding Known Folders Not working s2012R2.

i have a situation where i have to hide known folders from explorer view (on the left hand side) so it just shows the Drives and not
Music,Downloads,Pictures, Videos ETC i have configured a User policy to hide known folders based on GUIDS shown below

Based on the description, do you mean that we want to remove Documents, Music, Picture, and Videos from File Explorer? If yes, we can do this by editing the Registry.
To remove Document, we can delete the following registry entry:

If we want to deploy the registry changes to multiple server 2012r2 machines, we can do this via Group Policy Preferences Registry extension. In this case, the setting path is Computer Configuration\Preferences\Windows Settings\Registry.

VirtualBox Shared Folders not working after upgrade

I'm running Arch Linux as a guest OS in VirtualBox. After yesterday's upgrades of linux to 3.11.1-1 and virtualbox-guest-modules to 4.2.18-3, the shared folder functionality seems to be seriously borked.
The vboxsf module itself loads fine, and produces no kernel messages except the standard hello :

Mounting a shared directory with mount.vboxsf and mount -t vboxsf results in a success. However, accessing the mount ends in the CPU usage spiking to 100% and nothing happening. Furthermore, the following line appears in /etc/mtab :
none /mnt vboxsf rw,nodev,relatime 0 0
Removing and adding the shared folder from the machine settings, sadly, does not work. I'm running VirtualBox 4.2.18 on the host machine.
Has anybody had this issue after the update? Thanks in advance.

Problem:
ls hangs when run in a shared folder.
Yesterday I updated Arch Linux (through pacman), halted, updated Virtual Box to 4.2.18, and started Arch Linux again. However, after I did so I could not access my shared directories (with my Windows host). I do not think it is a permission problem (root cannot ls either).
I can:
cd /media/sf_VMShared
cd <a folder in VMShared>
However, I can't ls the directories. This is only a problem in Shared Folders. When I run

It gets stuck looping on

Place signature not working on some pdf documents

When I place signature on a document, adobe reader lets me drag a box for the area I want signed, brings up Sign Document box, accepts my password for the digital signature, and asks for a file name for the signed document, and saves the signed document. The only thing is that my signature does not show up at any point on the document. This happens on about 5% of the pdf files that people send me. (the other 95% work just fine). Even using save-as on the file prior to signing or printing the document to a new file (using cutepdf), does not allow me to place a signature on any files created from the original pdf. The only thing that works is if I print the file on paper and then scan it back into my computer - then it will let me sign the newly scanned document.
How do I fix this?

Is it the same document where Find worked earlier, but not now?
Note that Find can only work on text documents; it does not work with scanned documents, unless Acrobat has performed text recognition on the scanned image.

Windows 8 search not working for on particular folder on external HDD

I have an external HDD which has a library of pdf documents on it (about 11gigs worth) - it's in my index and it used to be perfectly searchable by windows search until I had the files system converted to NTFS from FAT32. Now it literally will not
find anything in the folder with all the pdfs in it (even if you search "pdf" it wont find a single thing) yet it will find anything else in any other folder on the same drive.
I have no idea what the problem is. That folder is also shared, and is a google drive. Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks, DB
