Siebel Reports

Hi,
I am working on BI Publisher reports in siebel 8.1 application. I have installed siebel 8.1.1 and BI Publisher 10.1.3.4 server . Followed all the instructions given in the Report Administration bookshelf. As per guide BI Publisher repository should have all the reports that ships with the siebel application and by default these are available in in the SharedFolder directory in the BI Publisher repository inside "SIEBELCRMREPORTS" directory. But in my case i could not see any siebel report in BI publisher repository. Can you please suggest what went wrong??

I will reframe my question.
1. Has anyone worked on BI publisher integrated with siebel 8.1.1??
As I understand we follow the below process to create report - Create Integration Object in tool, Generate Sample xml from siebel application, design rtf template using sample xml,register rtf template on BI server, add the report to view.
when we run the report in connected mode data is fetched from data base into an xml file which is sent to BI server via webservice. On BI server xml data and rtf template are merged to generate actual report in requested format(pdf,excel...) which is sent back to siebel file system.
2. How can we leverage the different fetures of BI publisher like a) Scheduling b) bursting 3) creating paramterized repot in case of siebell reports.
Do we need to create new report in BI server like we do when using OLAP or Oracle database (Create new report,add data model, associate rtf template,create LOv and parameter..)??
3. How can we make the Siebel Reports available in BI server??
Would appreciate your help.

Customizing Siebel Reports

I would like to ask just one question; Can we customize the Siebel Reports that are already stored in Siebel?

you can modify the XMLP reports as well, to do the same search for XMLP directory in your siebel installation folder in there
open "Templates" directory. Here you'll find all the report templates in .rtf format. Open the one which you want to modify
the report will be opend in MS word where you can modify the same.
Let me know what error you are getting while you try to install BIP.

BI Publisher server vs. Siebel report templates

I am investigating creating BI publisher reports using data from Siebel.
Do you know what the advantage is of integrating BI Publisher with Siebel vs. using BI Publisher Desktop to create report templates and just adding these into a Siebel database to view the data that way?
Putting this another way, are there any advantages to running reports in BI Publisher server vs. running them in Siebel?
E.g. Is there anything else you can do with the data in BI Publisher server that you can’t do in Siebel?

Hi,
The Main Difference is that reports in Siebel can Manipulate data, whereas BI publisher can only read data and publish processed output, it cannot Modify data in the Database.

Alpha numeric Sorting Issue with BIP-Siebel report

Hi All,
The report contains a column called 'Site Name' which contains alpha-number values such as '111 street', '4th Cross', 'Road cross', 'North end street' etc. The sorting expected here is in the form:
111 street
412 Cross
North end street
Road cross
I am currently using the following syntax for sorting the same - <?sort:(xdoxslt:convert_case(SiteName,'UPPER'));'ascending';data-type='text'?>
However, the output which I am getting is not as per expected.
North end street
Road cross
111 street
412 Cross
Can anyone help me on this.

Siebel 8117 and BIP Multilingual reports not working.....

We went live with Siebel 8113 and BIP. We have Siebel Reports configured in 4 languages and the choosing the language and locale on report generation pick applet worked fine with correct translated report coming out.
We have upgraded Siebel to 8117.
Reports stopped working. Applied 8117 related BIP objects(only repository objects and seed data - ACR 719B) then default language, ENU, reports worked fine. But other languages are still generating ENU reports.
Applied QF0703 in Tools (It has SIEBEL_BIP_8117 Extension SIF) and deployed the SRF.
Only two things from 8117 BIP related items we missed.
a) EIM Table related schema changes. This is of no use for us as we don't use EIM.
b) LMU files were not imported into tools. Each time I tried to import an LMU, it gives an error that site "http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/xliff/DTD" is an invalid site. On checking in browser found that it should be https and changed it in one language XLIFF. Once the transport changed to http, comes an error that the patch is invalid".
Not sure what is the importance of LMU OR how to get around it.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

BI Publisher with Siebel 8.1 using custom SQL data source

Hello ,
We have Siebel 8.1 implemented with embedded BI Publisher for reporting .
For some custom requirements , we want to connect to other oracle database table and display the results in Siebel reporting environment .
I know this is possible with normal BI Publisher environment . But Since I am new to Siebel , I am not sure it will work with SQL as data source .
Could you please guide me how to do that (if feasible )

I am trying to call the a BIP Report in a workflow. I do several steps prior and then do an insert into the Report Output BC to get the Run Id and then a step to Generate the report output calling XMLP Driver Service with method GenerateBIPReport. I am passing in the argurments but I am unsure of all the dwtails as there isnt alot of documentation on using it in workflow. Can you please assist me or point me to some documentation> I followed the Information of the Doc ID 823360.1 but I may be missing something. Not sure how it knows what to include. Thought it was the bookmark input but not sure. I want to pass it an activity id and return the data associate with that activity (ei. orders). Thanks in advance.... Tracy

How to embed reports into proposals.. ?

I followed the steps as per the bookshelf "http://supportweb.siebel.com/support/private/content/Bookshelf/78Siebel/books/CorProPre/CorProPre_Proposals10.html" and embedded the report section in to my proposal template section. but the report is not displaying in the generated proposal document and "Error in Report Generation" error is populated in relavant report sections..
Report executable exists in Siebel Reports\ENU folder.
Please guide me how to fix this.

Does the report have any records to display ?
When you compiled the report did you test it against a siebel record to make sure it displays OK ?
Does your proposal have conditions against it ? it make be that its got nothing to display (for instance a condition to only pick up the Active Quote , but there are no Active Quotes ).
Is the report on All the Siebel Servers ?
Check those things .....

Oracle BI Publisher 10x/11x Integration with Siebel CRM 8.2 Release

Hello Gurus,
We are in the process of implementing Siebel (8.2) Public Sector for one of our client and in term s of reporting we have decided to use latest version of OBIEE and BI Publisher and thus decided to go ahead with implementing BI Apps 7.9.6.3 combined package of (OBIEE 11.1.1.6, BI Publisher, Informatica 9.x, DAC 10.1.3.4.1 with hot fix).
There is My Oracle Support (MOS) article # 1172844.1 (titled ‘Supporting Documentation for Siebel Reports by Product Version’) which explains that Oracle BI Publisher 10.1.3.4.2 version supports Siebel CRM release 8.2.
Due to the limitations of the Oracle BI Publisher usage as per the Oracle support documentation, we need to make use of OBIEE 10g version for BI Publisher for integrating with Siebel 8.2 release and we need to also use OBIEE 11g for the main reporting and henceforth we end up maintaining 2 servers for reporting in our environment.
Does Oracle BI Publisher 11.1.1.5 or 11.1.1.6 version cannot be integrated with Siebel 8.2? Is this not supported version with Seibel 8.2 version?
Oracle BI Publisher architecture in 10g is different when compared to OBIEE 11g version and does it make any impact if we go ahead with 2 different versions pointing to pull the data from the OLTP source ( Siebel) ?
I am looking out for exact approach to be followed for reporting requirements for this kind of scenario ?
Help me with your inputs and suggestions on this.

Siebel BIP Integration Objec for Parent, Child and Grand Child

Hi,
I 'm trying to create a one report for displaying Parent, Child and Grand Child.
Service Request
- Quote
- Quote Item.
Successfully create the BIP Integration object and generated the xml file. problem here is when trying to include the fields in BIP desktop word, not able to see the grand child fields, could see only the parent and child fileds and for grand child only 'ListOfQuoteItem' text.
Could some one please let me know the reason for this behavoir and wherther BIP supports 3 levels.
Is there any Out of Box Siebel report showing parent, child and grandchild.

One Siebel Adapter Upsert operation should be sufficient to insert the parent and child. In the Integration object definition, you define the Template child instances with the Parent of Template. i.e
You define Template first as an Integration Component and then define
Template child instances to have a Parent as Template.

Siebel 8.1.1.5 and BIP 10.1.3.4.1 Integration - Siebel server goes down

Hi Gurus,
I followed the steps as per the Siebel Reports Guide Rev. C and I can see the BIP Screens , views and the standard template. Also if I upload any custom template to in the siebel I can view those reports in BIP SiebelCRMReports folder.
But my issue is if I click any any screens in Siebel and then the list applet or form applet and then if I click the "Reports Button" in the top menu then the Siebel server goes down or sometimes the application hangs up. I don't know exactly the error is on Siebel side or BIP side and one thing I didn't check is the Integration Objects in Siebel tools for the standard report templates.
I'm on windows environment.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

if you click the report menu button, I guess Siebel checks which reports are associated with this particular view. If the while OM crashes at this point, it looks as if some of the repository changes in 8.1.1.5 were not successfully applied. Did you import the provided .sif file which came with the 8115 BIP ACR?

Hi,
you are facing the same issue as a did last week. You are using BI Publisher 11g right? probably using the oldest ScheduleReport definition. Try using ScheduleReport V2. You can find it at:
http://hostname:port/xmlpserver/services (4 services available)
Instead of http://10.7.3.61:9704/xmlpserver/services/PublicReportService?WSDL.
Probably you are going to face another problem when trying to schedule a report as i'm facing right now. I've already posted a thread on it:

Reports not getting generated for more than 100 records

On 8.1.1.1 with BI Publisher 10.1.3.4.1, some of the Reports are not running when it has more than 100 records and throwing error.

Are you using 'PublicReportService'? Check the integration for Siebel Reports 8.1.1.1 and BI Publisher 10.1.3.4.1 the port 'PublicReportService_v11' is specified. Did you import this WSDL as directed?
i.e., export from BI Publisher http://<host>:<port>/xmlpserver/services/PublicReportService_v11?wsdl
Not certain this is the cause but I have not got the same issue.

Pls. anyone has any doc that has some syntax and other details about the BIP extended functions used when integrated with Siebel ?
I understand they are defined in the XLSFunctions.jar and called thru the psfn: in the field code...

Reporting-- CustomObject

Hi,
I want to create a report combination of Account and the Custom Object.As the data is huge(15 lakhs) it takes a lot of time and finally returns me a error.
I came to know that if the response won't come for more than 10 minutes it will give an error.My report taking more than that time.I can't choose Analytics as the custom object is not present in Analytics.What to do in this situation.

CO reporting is only available in the reporting side (life).
The size, number of records, inpacts report performence greatly.
Siebel report only returns 10,000 rows max.
There are a few things that you can do to speed up a report.
1) reduce the number of objects involved. If you can get away with using one, do not use two.
2) Do not have table view and a lot of pivot views in the same report. Break it down into two reports, one contain only the table view and another contains the pivot views. Put them in a dashboard if you wish to combine them.
3) use or no to use ID fields makes big difference. Adding ID fields forces the report to fitch all records; otherwise only the records after aggregation get returned.
4) force the report to use indexed fields.
5) reduce the number of records returned.
