  • Siebel Support for Encryption

My customer needs documentation detailing Siebel's support for encryption protocols across all layers
    i.e
    1) User Interface,
    2) Web Session / Transport
    3) Database Layer
    4) Logs. Cookies
Is there any documentation that someone has prepared from field experience? or does product management maintain any such document?
Any pointer would indeed help! Look fwd. to your inputs.
    Regards,
    Rakesh

    Rakesh,
I would start with the Bookshelf section on Encryption in the Security Guide. Beyond that I am not aware of any single document that addresses all types of encryption. Basic observations follow:
    1. User Interface -- Since this is a web application, not sure how this differs from "Web Session". The communications between the end user's browser and the Siebel Web Server can be secured with standard SSL. Higher key lengths require that the Siebel Strong Encryption Pack be installed on both the Siebel Web Server(s) and the Siebel Application Server(s).
    2. Web Session / Transport -- The SISNAPI communications between the various Siebel servers can by encrypted using RSA, MSCrypto, or SSL.
    3. Database Layer -- This is dependent on the database being used and would be set at the client level for transport. As long as it is transparent to the Siebel application object manager, it should be fine. In terms of actual data storage, Siebel can do field level encryption for specific fields. Alternatively, database encryption utilities such as Oracle's Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) can be used as long as it is transparent to the Siebel application. Encryption of local databases are more restrictive and involve either encrypting the whole local database or not encrypting the local database.
    4. Logs and Cookies -- Logs are not encrypted. Cookies can be encrypted in transit when using SSL. Also the session identifier can be encrypted.
Hope this information is at least somewhat helpful.

  • Siebel Support Browsers Other then IE

    Just Curios on
if anybody has any inside information about when is Oracle planning to extend Siebel CRM application on browsers other then IE?
Also with lots of companies making a move a toward SFDC (for variety of reasons), I was just wondering what are Oracles plans to stop the flow in there are any?
    Thanks in Advance.

  • Why do I have 2 application support folders? Also, can I relocate one or both to free up SSD space?

I'm running Mavericks and imported a time machine backup of Snow Leopard during installation. I am trying to free up space on my boot SSD and was thinking of moving Users and Applications folders to their own partitions or drives.  I'm doing a lot of research on that, but while looking through my system I discovered I have 2 application support folders:
Macintosh HD / Library / Application Support
Macintosh HD / Users / [home folder] / Library / Application Support
Is this supposed to like this?  Did I create a redundancy by migrating files from Snow Leopard?
I wouldn't care so much, but Macintosh HD / Library / Application Support is 35GB, and both folders contain a Final Cut Studio folder.  The one in the first path is 18GB.
Would it be safe to relocate these huge folders? Or better yet the library that contains them?

    Yes.

    No.

No and definitely no. Deleting one or another of these library folders would be a very bad idea and would screw up your Mac a lot. In general it is a good idea not to mess around with system files. These files are necessary for running your apps. These two Libraries are at different levels in terms of your OS and do different things.

The environment on which OAS is running is IBM AIX Power Linux. Any idea on the possible reasons for the error?

You should probably contact Siebel support for this.
The main issue seems to be: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError, msg=com.sun.org.apache.bcel.internal.verifier.exc.VerificationException
So make sure this class is in a jar that is accessible to your application on the server.

  • Difficulties to create a Siebel script with e-Tester

    Hello,
I am trying to make a script for a load test on a Siebel 8.0 application.
    I have 2 difficulties :
    - I tried to drill-down on a contact, to see its detail, but when replaying the script, it doesn't and finish by a time out.
    - when recording a script, when I try to go "File" to disconnect, I have an error message from Internet Explorer : "an error has orccured in the script of this page, Do you want to continue running scripts on this page : YES / NO". No matter what I click I can't go to the file menue. So I disconnect with CTRL+SHIFT+X. But when I replay my script, it doesn't seem to recognize the keyboard order, and doesn't disconnect, and finish by a time out.
Does anyone know what I should do ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Vincent

    Hi,
I'm facing the same problems while recording a simple connect/disconnect scenario.
I'm using Siebel 8.0.0.2 and e-Tester 8.30.0737, I activated the automation on the loyalty component.
I copied the ssdtcorr.dll library file into the e-Tester directory, in the settings i checked all the checkboxes in the "enable siebel support" page.
    I tried differents methods:
    - Recording a functional test in eTester :
I'm starting with the Automation page loyalty_fra/start.swe?SWECmd=AutoOn
I'm logging into loyalty, after entering the login and the password:
if i submit the form with the mouse it works.
if i submit the form directly with the enter key, the playback failed.
if i submit the form with the tab key twice to highlight the arrow button and next the enter key it works.
    Next i'm logoff loyalty:
if i use the java script menu and disconnect it fails with a timeout
if i use the keyboard shortcut Ctrt + Maj + X it fails with a timeout too.
    - Recording a load test using the proxy and an external IE6 :
I'm starting with the Automation page loyalty_fra/start.swe?SWECmd=AutoOn: [1] AutoOn
Next i'm loggin into loyalty using the mouse to click on the validate button : [2] Execute Login
And i'm logoff with the java script menu : [3] No title, [4] BatchCanInvoke, [5] Logoff
The playback failed with a timeout in "[2] Execute Login".
I tried the same scenario using the keyboard only :
I'm starting with the Automation page loyalty_fra/start.swe?SWECmd=AutoOn: [1] AutoOn
Next i'm loggin into loyalty with keyboard only : [2] Execute Login
And i'm logoff with the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Maj + X : [3] No title, [4] UpdatePrefMsg, [5] No title
The playback failed again with a timeout in "[2] Execute Login".
Any help would be really appreciated!

  • Siebel 8.1.1.11 on Windows 2008 32-bit

    Dear All,
We are planning to upgrade from 8.1.1.5 to 8.1.1.11 and currently on Windows 2008 32-bit.
Will Siebel 8.1.1.11 work on Windows 2008 32-bit for the SES, SWSE, etc?
The "Certifications" tab does not indicate Microsoft Windows 2008 32-bit as a supported OS. Does this mean that we cannot upgrade our existing 8.1.1.5 on Windows 2008 32-bit to 8.1.1.11 unless we move to Windows 2008 64-bit?
But "Siebel Support for Windows 2008 (Doc ID 781428.1)" says that Windows 2008 32-bit is supported for 8.1.1 and above.
    Thanks,
    Lino

    Hello Lino,
    Thanks for using Oracle communities.
About your query on 8.1.1.11 with Windows 2008 32bit. You can still patch 8.1.1.11 on top of 8.1.1.5 and application will work just fine.
Problem here is Windows 2008 (32bit) is at End Of Life (EOL) from microsoft. So Siebel will still work for Siebel 8.1.1.10 and Siebel 8.1.1.11 (including Patchsets) and is technically supported, but we Oracle do not plan to list Windows versions on My Oracle Support Certify once we can no longer get support from Microsoft.
Customers can run Siebel 8.1.1.x on Windows 2008, 32bit but we can only address Siebel code issues and cannot help with Microsoft issues since we cannot get support.
So since you are running on W2008 32 bit  8.1.1.x version previous to 8.1.1.11 then you are fine to upgrade Siebel to 8.1.1.11 and stay on it.  (Since this was in the old SRSP we will honor that)
But eventually of course you will need to plan to move forward on W2008 to R2 version.  That version is ONLY 64 bit as 32 bit line dies with W2008 R1.
Note: there is a hard stop on this by end of this year with Innovation Pack 2014 (aka Siebel 8.1.1.14): As we will be upgrading all compilers and building on Win 2008 R2, we can only at that point support 64 bit OS (since 32 bit OS will not longer exist for that and future patches). However, the Siebel application will remain a 32-bit application.
    I hope it helps.
    Best Regards,
    Chetan

  • I keep getting an error message that says the safari browser version you are currently using does not support the community toolbar.  how do I fix it?

Everytime I open my imac I get an error message that says: "We're sorry but the Safari browser version your are currently using does not support the community toolbar."  I can't see where it affects anything else, but getting an error message on an imac, just doesn't seem right, ya know?  How can I get rid of the message.

Apparently an add-on named Community Toolbar was installed at one time, and is causing the problem. To get rid of it, quit Safari, then throw away these files -
    Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Conduit
    Macintosh HD/Library/InputManagers/CTLoader
    Macintosh HD/Library/Receipts/ctloader.pkg
    Macintosh HD/Library/Receipts/<Toolbar name>.pkg
    Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/CT2285220.bundle
    Macintosh HD/Users/<User name>/Library/Application Support/Conduit
Note - if you are using Lion, the Library folder in your home folder (user name folder) is hidden. To get into it, in Finder open the Go menu; with that menu open, press and hold the Option key. An item "Library" will be added to the list, and can then be selected. That will open the Library folder in your home folder.

  • Siebel and UML

Does Siebel support the use of UML to describe the data model?
    Regards,
    Roland

Ebusiness suite has very specific requirements for parameters, database versions, tablespace naming, patch level, and cloning. I have not installed Siebel, but I suspect it would have it's own requirements which will be different from Ebus.
I think it is very likely you will run into conflicts between the requirements of the two applications. Maybe not today, but definitely during the next patch or upgrade.
For vendor applications it is better to keep them in their own databases to avoid requirements conflicts.
You could open an SR with Oracle Support to ask if they will support a database with both applications installed.

  • Siebel VM Template for 8.1 is missing /dbsrvr directory

    Hi,
Has anyone else installed the Siebel VM Template for Siebel 8.1? We have managed to get the VMs up and running, but we wanted to apply our customized configuration from another environment. We tried running a repository import, but we are unable to proceed because the installation does not have a /dbsrvr directory and this is required when running a database server utility task.
Is there anyone who has experienced the same issue? If so, were any workarounds used to resolve this?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
BEST THING to do is to open an SR to Siebel support, but here is what I think it happened:
-first of all, I think you're talking about 8.1.1 ,cause we don't supply templates for 8.1 (at least I haven't seen one), only for 8.0 and 8.1.1.
    -dbsrvr is created only if the db was configured from this very VM; but I think that those guys configured the database using another machine; your environment starts with no issues, cause dbsrvr does not contain any data is used by siebel server while running;
-if you want to do that repository import, you do need dbsrvr, that's correct; my suggestion is to use the siebel kit to install the "database configuration tools" -that creates the dbsrvr directory; from there, you can proceed with repository import...

  • Deleted main applications support folder

I accidentally deleted my main Applications Support folder (Macintosh HD>Library>Applications Support Folder). How much trouble am I in? More specifically, what exactly does Application support entail? Many of the applications I've opened since seem unaffected, though I noticed my last roll of photos from iPhoto is missing from the application though they are in My Photos.
    Thanks,
    Travis

I also accidentally deleted my Application Support folder, but the User-Library_Application Support one. So my computer login is fine but all of my apps that used to "know me" don't anymore. Backup plans are gone, Quickbooks tells me it's a 15 day trial, and after talking with Apple tech support and unregistering and re-registering my computer, I have to re-type my .Mac password in System Prefs each time. I don't mind installing or re-registering my 3rd party apps, I just want to be able to keep my .Mac account name and restore from my "old" backups. I get the message, "another computer named "cathyheaton" is in use.

  • Can't find Application Support from System in time machine

I played minecraft for quite a long while. The thing is, i clean installed mountain lion, and so i backed up. But in time machine folder i couldn't find Machintosh/Libarry/Applications Support and minecraft saved folder is inside =3= can anyone help me. Thanks for helping

Perhaps the file you are looking for is in your own Library/Application Support? Macintosh/Library/Application Support is the folder for all users. It's quite possible that it was saved there, but I would think a program would store individual user save files in the users's own Library.
To get there, hold down the Option (alt) key and select Library from the Go menu in Finder.
Once you have the Application Support Folder open, Enter Time Machine and restore the file from the Minecraft support folder.

  • Installing oracle on macintosh osx (10.4 tiger)

I did some google searches and saw that I can install oracle 10g on macintosh. When I go to downloads the only mac version I see if the oracle client.
So which version runs on mac?
do any 11g versions run on macintosh?

has oracle stopped supporting the macintosh? I see a
    10.1, but no 10.2 or 11g version.
I also did not even see an install guide for the mac
in the 10.1 docs.Oracle has both 10.2 and 11g for Mac Intel projected in 2h CY2008
Looks like they stopped developing for Mac Power PC which kinda make sense .

  • Macintosh drivers for SB

I had a friend tell me he had drivers for Sound Blaster Li've! 5. for Macintosh.
I went and bought myself one, and it says "cannot find device drivers" when I attempt to install it.
Does anyone know where I can find support for Macintosh ?
Is there any other product from Creative Labs that has Mac drivers?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

There were some drivers for MacOS 9 a long time ago, but they were specifically for the Li've! Mac edition?(not sure if they work with regular Li've cards). OS X was never supported. Other than that only the X-Mod is compatible with macs, some EMU products are also mac-friendly.
