Sieve port doesn't seem to be listening

After the Mavericks upgrade, I noticed that the roundcube plugin was failing for managesieve.  I get the famous "cannot connect to server" dialog in roundcube when selecting the plug-in.
After verifying the setup was still correct, I noticed that I cannot telnet into port 4190 via localhost.  This would explain the connection problem, but I've done nothing to block this port.  Is this a new security change and if so, how can I address it?
Thanks.

Okay, here's how to solve this in Mavericks.
sudo serveradmin settings mail:imap:enable_sieve = yes
No idea why they disabled it silently, but that should do the trick,

  • My 2nd Firewire port doesn't seem to work.  Is it defective?

Brand new iMac Core Duo 2Ghz. I just bought a LaCie external 250gb Porsche hard drive. At first I thought it might be defective. After many tech support emails and trial and error I've now determined that it works 100% of the time on the firewire port that is closest to the power cord (I call this firewire port #1). And it 100% of the time does NOT work on the second firewire port. LaCie suggests that this port is dead.
I don't have any other firewire devices to try on this port.
My "More info" button on my "About this Mac" menu item just says "Firewire". It doesn't distinguish between one port and the other.
Say.. this is probably stupid user error huh. As in.. everyone but me knows to use the first port first, and the second port only if you have a second device.. otherwise it plays dead. hehee..
    any advice?
    - Rowan

I'm getting the same thing. The drive wouldn't even mount (though mounts perfectly on my G4 powerbook). Resetting the SMC, got it to mount fine, but then when I try to open the dive to access it's contents, finder goes beachball. I've waited 15min thus far.
It has mounted once or twice in probably 30 attemtps, but only ever by itself an not in the chain of my three firewire drives. That said, my other drives seem to mount just fine (a 1250 GB Porche drive and a 120 GB no-name enclosure). the one that doesn't work is an OWC Neptune 250GB. I'm open to any suggestions....

  • Charging port doesn't seem to work?

    Please help me.
Randomly during the day yesterday, my computer would not charge even though it was plugged into the outlet and everything.  It wouldnt come up as charging.  I figured that the outlet itself was the problem because the computer worked fine charging the night before.  It died this morning and still will not charge in any outlet even with chargers I know are working in other macbooks. I cleaned out the charging port with some rubbing alcohol and a Qtip and it seemed to be very dirty.. although when I finished cleaning it out the computer still would not respond to a charger plugged in. Now the computer has been dropped before.. Many  many months ago.. which is why I don't think that has anything to do with it.  It was working fine up until today. I think the problem is with the actual charging port. Can this be replaced? And if so, at the Apple store?  It's really unfortunate that this happened on Memorial day, I cant get a hold of anyone even on the call system. I need help with this immediately.... I have to make a presentation using my MacBook this week.   Please help. Thanks

    Apple stores are open today!

  • BTHUB 5 opening ports doesn't seem to work.

I've was recently got a upgrad to my phone line and got the Unlimited Faster Broadband package.
The extra speed is great, but I'm unable to access thing like my online banking and various other sites. I do a little gaming and purchased a new game (Wildstar). It requires various ports open which from what I can see the new BT HUB 5 won't allow. I've spent the last 2 days reading all the problems and troubleshooting and have still been unable to open the ports.
Most of what I read goes over my head, so in the end I decided to give up and pay this 10 a month IT help with BT. Explained the problem and he got remote access to open the ports. Tried the game and it didn't work. He opened all the ports and dropped  firewall. Still the game didn't work. He explained that nothing is wrong with the hub and it will be the game that is the problem.
I've just checked with one of the site to see if the ports are open and it says they are still closed....
I went to PC world yesterday to get a replacement for the BTHUB 5 and the sales rep recommended NETGEAT N600. It has a fiber contection, but don't think it will work.
At this point I refuse to give up... Should I keep trying with the BTHUB 5 or try to find a alternitive router.
Any adivise would be greatly appeciated as I'm currently running in circles.
    Cheers

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

When the BT guy was saying that he'd remotely opened the ports were you checking this by seeing if a site that checks whether ports are open on an IP address was saying that they're open? Just because the router says they're open doesn't mean they're open. Just because some BT guy says they're open doesn't mean they're open! Only evidence says whether they're actually open or not!!
OF COURSE he'd blame the game! His bonus depends on "solving your issue" (measured as "getting you off the phone") as quickly as possible. They measure what's easiest to measure = length of the phone call(s).

  • Network Port Doesn't Seem to worl - EVER

    Hi yall,
I have an Airport Express. I originaly just wanted it to stream music to my stereo. But now that my TV, Blu-Ray and Wii all have network connections, I wanted to extend my wireless network.
I have a Dell XPS One computer with Vista and a Westell/Verizon Wireless DSL Router.
My computer is connected via cable to the router and I have no problem connecting laptops wirelessly to the network.
I used "join existing network" and the Air Tunes function works flawlessly.
Shouldn't I be able to plug into the ethernet port and get network connectivity from the Airport too?
    Jason C

Does it make sense that Airtunes works perfectly?
    Yes
Is another option to get a second Airport Express and connect with ethernet wire to the router? Then the two Airport epxresss should talk to each other, right?
    Yes that will work.

  • HP Probook 6445b LAN port doesn't connect

I have a HP Probook 6445b and the LAN port doesn't seem to connect when I plug a cable in. Any Ideas????

try going to the "search programs" filed at the bottom of the Windows start menu and type in cmd and then right click the little black box icon and select run as administrator and then type in the "DOS box" the following and hit enter
    ipconfig /all
And see what the output is. Let us know. I assume if you connect the same cable to a different computer it gets on the internet, etc?
You may want to check network properties of the wired ethernet connection to see if perhaps someone set a static network configuration that is not compatible with your router's settings.

  • Port forwarding to Apex doesn't seem to work

    Hi,
We have an Oracle 11.1.0.7 database running on Linux in which I've upgraded Apex to 3.2
I'm using the embedded gateway/listener (no Apache).

Check the listener log file I see the following lines:

Meanwhile, I'm off to try Apache.

    Hi Rob,
No, this is from internal LAN connections. I haven't been able to detect anything in the log files when attempting to connect from the internet.
I'll increase the logging level & post some findings on this later (I'm at a client site right now).
    Cheers,

  • Port mapping doesn't seem to work - AEBS

I have a dsl connection to an Alcatel SpeedTouch 530 modem, linked via ethernet cable to the WAN of my AEBS, which shares the connection to three Macs and 2 Win boxes. I want to connect to aMule and get a High-ID. In the wiki.amule.org FAQ it states that to achieve this, I must use port mapping behind a firewall, and map ports 4662 (TCP) and 4665 (UDP) to my machine (which, after reading http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=607426&#607426, I have assigned to AirPort TCP/IP address 10.0.1.201, by the way).
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work, and I'm still getting the annoying 'low-ID' warnings on aMule.
Following some advice on the aMule forum, I mapped port 80 and verified that the WebServer is accessible inside the wLan, if that's of any help.
    Thanks, people.

Hi Tim, a couple of questions:
    1. If I go ahead and un-check the 'Distribute IP
addresses' box, how will the three Macs and two Win
computers on this wlan be affected? Do we still have
access to each other's shares, and do we still access
    the internet through the AEBS?
Once you turn off the 'distribute the IP address box' then your alcatel router will then distribute ip adresses and your macs and wintel boxes will still be on the same network and using the sharepoints will remain the same if you setup the shares using the bonjour names.
I am making an assumption here in that your alcatel box is setup as a NAT router and not as a Bridge.
    2. Do I just give a static internal IP to my own
powerbook, or to all the above computers?
You only need to give a static ip to the mac your doing the port forwarding to. So that is the mac that is running the p2p software, infact you would do the same for any computer on the LAN that would run a server, such as a webserver, email server etc.
    Many thanks, as always.
    You are welcome.
PS I had the impression that the basic idea of what I
need to do to successfully map the ports to my Mac
was to map ports from the DSL modem to the AEBS, then
from AEBS to my Mac. Is this not right? Or is this
another kind of solution to the same problem, albeit
slightly more complicated to your suggestion above?
If the alcatel modem was just behaving as a modem then you would use the AEBS as the NAT device and do the port mapping on that. However the Alcatel modem is also a router.
If you setup up your alcatel router as a bridge you would then use the AEBS as your PPPoE client and then port mapping would work.

    Hi There!
The camera is a Panasonic Lumix. I don't have a USB card reader. I did try and different port although not a different cable.
I did remember one additional thing. I plugged my camera in at work to a PC. It was after that, when I came home, that the iPhoto wasn't working when I connected my camera to our iMac/iPhoto at home. I think this may have caused the problem.

My battery drained. Pluged in to wall but screen shows battery with red line but doesn't seem to be recharding after 20 min.  Should I wait longer or do a hard restart? I haven't backedup in ages and don't want to lose pics, contacts etc.  Will a hard restart wipe all that out?

    Agree with Richard:
-Your device needs both the CR and LF. To accomplish this:
option 1: Concatenate the "end of line" string constant (this is a combination of CR and LF, located in the string pallete) to all your outgoing commands. Make sure in the "Visa configure serial port" the "Termination character enable" flag is false.
option 2: Concatenate only a CR to your command's strings. Make sure in the "Visa configure serial port" the "Termination character enable" flag is TRUE AND that the termination character is set to 10 (meaning LF) which I think is the default.
Details can be seen in this link:
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/862567530005F09C862565BE005AB500
"Adding Termination Characters to VISA Serial Writes in LabVIEW"
Interesting would be to configure the serial port to accept not one but two termination characters. The above links refers to the document "Developer Zone Tutorial: Termination Characters in NI-VISA.", where this is supposed to be possible. The document however is 404'ed.
If someone find a working link please post it.

I am a subscriber to Comcast ): and because many mail servers reject my mail from a non-static IP address, I use the option under Server Admin - Mail called "Relay outgoing mail through host: smtp.comcast.net

How can I get this working so all server like AOL accept my mail?

    #relayhost = $mydomain
    #relayhost = [gateway.my.domain]
    relayhost = smtp.comcast.net
    #relayhost = uucphost

    then i did this:
    empco:~ james$ grep /etc/postfix/main.cf relayhost
grep: relayhost: No such file or directory
    Couple of things...
    1. Sorry, I got the grep command wrong way round! It should be...
    grep relayhost /etc/postfix/main.cf
All it does is show the lines in the file which contains "relayhost" - easier than listing the whole file.
    2. The GUI normally adds the options at the end of the file - so if grep lists another 'blank' relayhost, remark out your old one and edit the entry at the end. (just in case an existing blank entry at the end is overwriting your edited one).
    3. You can actually edit main.cf whilst the mail services are running. Just execute the reload command in Terminal afterwards...
    sudo postfix reload
The sudo prefix runs the command as root, so it will ask for the root (admin) password.
Any changes made like this should automatically show up in the Server Admin GUI. Click the 'refresh' button.
I've confirmed the above works on my test system, so here's hoping!

  • Child DC cannot Replicate to Parent DC, because of connection errors. MS PortQryUI shows that ports 3268 and 3269 are not listening,

I started a support case with Microsoft to help me with raising the our domain Forest level because i received a message stating that there were Windows 2000 PDC still listed in the database. These PDCs were removed years ago. The tech saw all of the problems
i was having with domain replication so that is where he started. running the MS PortQryUI shows that ports 3268 and 3269 are not listening, (TCP port 3268 (unknown service): NOT LISTENING) when run FROM a Child domain controller against the Parent
Domain controller. Between the 2 Child domain controllers these ports are listening.
The Windows firewall is not running on any of the controllers, i removed a virus protect client from all of the servers, although i didn't enable the firewall there either, but these ports are still not listening on the Parent DC.
I need help debugging this. I am not very familiar with network sniffers so if i need to run one i'll need some guidance. This DC only has one NIC, all IP addresses are static, all servers are setup like this. All servers are in the same subnet, on the same
lan, on the same cisco switch, there shouldn't be anything blocking this port from starting.
I looked over other post that show this same problem, but they don't give a solution. If i am not using the Windows firewall why wouldn't these ports be open?
Any ideas? web searches are all over the map on trying to find the reason for this.
    Bobby

Try running the below command on the DCs that you think have the ports blocked or all the DCs.
    netdiag /test:ipsec /debug > c:\dcname-ipseclog.log
Open that from the C drive and see if there is anything saying block or filters.
Also, just for kicks have you disabled the firewall service on the DCs?
And just for kicks have you tried enabling firewalls ports on all the DCs?  The KB is below
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555381/en-us
    Step 1 - netdiag results
Step 2 - disable the firewall service on all DCs if step 1 was negative
Step 3 - enable the firewalls on all DCs per KB 555381 if step 2 doesn't work
Let us know how it goes!

  • SF300 LAG port doesn't work, LACP will not enable.

I'm trying to configure something that seems pretty trivial.
I need 2-3 ports to participate in a LAG port.  First off, I  get the "Port X belongs to a vlan" if the participating port is  something other than access vlan 1.  This is totally useless.  I need these ports to be dot1Q tunnels.  This happens even If i set the default vlan to 300, (300 is my native or PVID).  Another piece that doesn't seem to work is that LACP will not enable, even if I throw in the towel and make my ports access vlan 1.  What gives?  I've tried this on the only firmware available which has no patches avail yet.  I've tried this on 2x 24ports, and on 2x 48 ports..  all the same issue.

Hi I just gave it a try  you can see my screen captures below.
If you are having trouble, have a word to the good folk at the SBSC if the switch is still under phone support coverage.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/support/tsd_cisco_small_business_support_center_contacts.html
Maybe play it safe and delete your settings and start again... Here are some screen shots from my attempt.
I have to admit I enabled LAG and LACP before I created vlan 100.
you can see i have the same software as you.
add the ports and enable LACP at the same time.
ports 47 and 48 are still excluded from my Tagged Vlan
Now I selected port drop down for VLAN100 and selected LAG.
I then  received and then modified the following screen capture.
Note I manually added LAG interface 1 as a tagged member of VLAN 100.
Why Lag interface 1, because I created LAG 1 previously, as seen in a previous screen shot above.
    regards Dave

  • Something doesn't seem right with start-up

Maybe I'm going mad but something doesn't seem right. When I start-up I get the usual chime, the power light comes on, I hear the drive whir a bit, the fans have a quick blow and the I get a black screen for about 30 seconds. After this the light goes out & the screen turns grey, then I get the grey sceen + apple and the 'wheel thing' followed by the blue screen and normal start-up. Perhaps this is normal, but I'm sure I never used to get the 30 second delay with the black screen and I used to go straight to grey if you see what I mean. Am I going mad or is the delay unusual??

I know it's bad form to reply to your own post but thought someone might be interested to hear how I've sorted this one out. Thought I'd try starting up in safe mode and running FSCK, but having never done this before wasn't quite sure what to expect! When it started up I just got page after page of 'techno-jargon' which didn't look good - especially when every line seem to have the word error in it - can't remember exactly what it said but each line had something with USB along with numbers and letters and an error message (yes - I know this isn't very clear but the memory's beginning to fail). Anyway because this wasn't looking too good I decided to reboot and unplug everything from my USB ports (including a 7 port USB 2 hub) and restart. Lo and behold problem sorted. Then plugged it back in again and tried again - back to original problem. However noticed that the LED on my graphics tablet wasn't lighting up so unplugged that from the hub, reinstalled the drivers and tried again. Now everything seems to be back to normal. The black screen on start-up lasts just a couple of seconds and we're back to the normal start-up time. Weird, but at least I can now sleep easy!
