Sigma DP1 & LR

I am running LR 1.4.1 with Camera Raw 4.4.1 on my Mac with Leopard. Would like to purchase a Sigma DP1 to shoot RAW. Is it compatible? Any other Thoughts?

The Sigma DP-1 is still not supported (nearly six months after release). Is this model ever going to be supported?

  • Using Sigma DP1 Raw X3F files via Adobe DNG Converter to Aperture 2.1.2

I wish to use Aperture 2.1.2 with my Sigma DP1 raw ( X3F format) photos.
I used the latest Adobe DNG converter 5.1.0.30 to successfully convert Sigma DP1 X3F to DNG format files. After importing the DNG files into an Aperture directory, they were not an acceptable file format, and thus I could not use them.
Does this mean that Aperture is not reading the DNG file correctly or Adobe has got it wrong with their DNG conversion of the X3F file format ?
Do I need to wait for an Aperture update to fix the problem of using the X3F file format ? Is there a solution around in using Aperture with Sigma X3F raw photos ?

Aperture does not currently support Sigma X3F or linear DNG (only raw DNG), and Adobe's DNG Converter can only yield a linear DNG from an X3F. So your only choices right now are to use a different product such as Lightroom which does support X3F, or use the supplied Sigma Photo Pro software to generate 16 bit TIFFs which you can then import into Aperture. Because Sigma Photo Pro is unstable and slow on Macs, I've been effectively forced to use Lightroom. Lightroom is a capable product, but it lacks the elegance of Aperture, so I remain dimly hopeful that Apple will eventually support X3F, and somewhat more hopeful that it will at the very least eventually support linear DNG.

  • Will the current plugins for Sigma DP1/2 RAW files work with files from the DP1/2 Merrill cameras? A

Will the current plugins for Sigma DP1/2 RAW files work with files from the DP1/2 Merrill cameras? And if not, is Adobe developing plugins for these cameras?

Not sure what plugins you mean, Hornet - Lr doesn't rely on plugins to read new cameras.
If you mean the Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) plugin - that's for Photoshop, not Lightroom. Lr has the same functionality as ACR, but it's hard-coded into the program, so if you're looking for support for a new camera, you need to wait for a new version of Lr.
And nobody here can say when Lr support for a given camera will happen.
Hopefully someone with a Merrill will be able to chime in about whether its files work with the current Lr.

  • When will Lightroom support Sigma DP1/2/3m ?

When will Lightroom support Sigma DP1/2/3m ?

Contrary to popular belief, Adobe needs to buy a production camera just like everyone else. The camera makers are so afraid of competition that they - none of them - give away anything, to anyone, and certainly not in advance. Most of them are also so afraid of competition that they still refuse to support DNG, a universal and openly documented raw file format that could have been the industry standard today if it wasn't for this paranoia. Then you would have had instant Lightroom support for the camera fresh off the shelf.
So the answer is: it happens when the Lr team has had time to reverse-engineer and profile it. Probably next Lr release, but no one knows.
(I'm saving this reply for whenever the question "when will camera xyz be supported" comes up, which is about twice a day).

  • (solved) How can I get an older version of WINE?

I switched from Ubuntu to Arch, and met a problem with WINE.
I have a SIGMA DP1 camera and have to use SIGMA PHOTO PRO with WINE to process the RAW files.
In Arch WINE doesn't work with the application. In Ubuntu there is no problem with it.
    wine SIGMA\ PhotoPro4.exe
err:module:load_builtin_dll failed to load .so lib for builtin L"mscms.dll": liblcms.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    err:module:import_dll Loading library mscms.dll (which is needed by L"C:\\Program Files\\SIGMA\\SIGMA Photo Pro 4\\SIGMA PhotoPro4.exe") failed (error c000007a).
    err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L"C:\\Program Files\\SIGMA\\SIGMA Photo Pro 4\\SIGMA PhotoPro4.exe" failed, status c0000135
I think it might be the problem of the newer version of WINE?

    - Do you have lcms installed?
    - Try to cd to the Sigma directory && 'wine SIGMA\ PhotoPro4.exe' or something.
    - You can try the version you use on Ubuntu http://arm.konnichi.com/search/
    - lcms is installed although I have no idea what it is.
    - I did, and this is where I got the error above
    - This is a great site! Thanks very much. I will try later.

  • Camera Raw 4.6 and Elements 6.0

Installed Camera Raw 4.6 into Elements 6.0 & 5.0, but Elements 6.0 will not recognize Sigma Dp1 X3F files, but 5.0 will. The DNG converter works. Any clues to what could be going on

    > why Im getting those bright red spots in the lighter areas of the photo.
That's the clipping warning, which you can turn off by clicking on the triangle at the upper right hand corner of the histogram in the ACR preview. That means
your image is overexposed and all those red spots represent areas that are
    totally blown out.
You can try to rescue them with the Exposure and Recovery slider.
You really need to read up on Camera Raw. You desperately need

  • RAW processor for Canon 7D

Does anyone know when Adobe will have a download to allow CS3 to process RAW files from the new Canon 7D?

There is a release candidate of Adobe Camera Raw 5.6 and the DNG converter available today in Adobe Labs at http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/Camera_Raw_5.6
While ACR 5.6 won't work with CS3, you should be able to use the new DNG Converter to convert the CR2 files from the Canon 7D to DNG files that can be opened with the latest ACR for CS3.

  • "error changing modules" on mac

I have Lightroom 1.3.1 running on a 2 GHz intel mac with 2GB Ram, OSX 10.4.11.
I recentley got a new Sigma dp1 camera and shot some images in RAW, used the supplied software to process that into a tiff file that I tried to load into lightroom. The image showed up in lightroom in a different library, but when I try now to get to all of my old images I just get "an error occurred when attempting to change modules". All that shows up now is a grey screen (no side panels).
What I am really worried about saving is the settings that I have in the develop modules for my previous photos. Is there some way that I could at least save those if I need to uninstall/reinstall lightroom.
    Thanks for any help.

Having same issue on Leopard 10.5. 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo. 4 gb 667 ram.
Have tried reinstalling, but to no avail. Also tried to find plist file, but could not find a plist file that related to LR specifically, only a big list. Used Appdelete to uninstall. How do I find the plist file for LR?
Want to try installing 1.3, but am not able because some residual files on the computer won't let me install an older version. Any ideas on finding those files?
    Any other suggestions?

  • 3rd party app crashing - please help!

I have a Sigma DP1 digital camera and need to use their proprietary software to process the RAW image files. I have a Mac Pro Quad-Core with 10 GB of RAM and 10.5.4.
The application is crashing very consistently when I attempt certain behaviors. The crashes are completely reproducible. I've contacted Sigma but haven't received a response.
I'm hoping someone here can help me understand the crash report and determine what's going wrong. Here it is:

My error WRT to contacting the developer—just plainly missed that. Thanks for the additional information, always helps. That said, you'll just have to await the Sigma's response. The crash log notes:
    *0 com.sigmaphoto.photopro 0x0001ef7b -EditPanelController readSettings + 759*
    *1 com.sigmaphoto.photopro 0x0001ac3b -EditPanelController awakeFromNib + 975*
as the main culprit. Nothing to do with Mac OS X.

  • Sigma SD1, DP2 and DP1 Merrill

This was intended to be a feature request.
I would like Lightroom/ACR support for the Sigma SD1, SD1 Merrill (same camera, essentially) and DP1 & DP2 Merrill models. Support for the older Foveon sensors has been included, and now with four bodies based around the 15.4 x 3 Direct Image Sensor, there must surely be sufficient demand to implement it compared with last years' small number of SD1 only users.

  • How to open a file with the extension x3f (sigma)

how to open a file with the extension x3f (sigma)?

RAW data from the following Sigma cameras is currently supported:
    DP1
    DP1s
    DP2
    SD9
    SD10
    SD14
If your camera is among these, then simply import the photo as usual. https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/help/importing-photos-lightroom-basic-workflow.html

  • Sigma X3F to DNG conversion - suggested workflow?

Now the latest version of Adobe Camera Raw 6.1 supports all Sigma cameras (DP1, DP1s, DP2, SD9,  SD10, SD14).
    http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/cameraraw.html
Do I have to tick the linear DNG in options of Camera Raw 6.1 ?
    Sigma/Foveon X3F images and DNG
    http://www.barrypearson.co.uk/articles/dng/specification.htm#x3f
I'd like to know if ALL raw data is extracted from the X3F raw file for the conversion to DNG. So is it safe to store only the DNG file for the archive or should the original X3F raw data be embedded also in the converted DNG file?

Now the latest version of Adobe Camera Raw 6.1 supports all Sigma
    cameras (DP1, DP1s, DP2, SD9,  SD10, SD14).
    http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/cameraraw.html
actually ACR was supporting them long before 6.1 - they just forgot to mention all models @ that web page...
    I'd like to
know if ALL raw data is extracted from the X3F raw file for the
    conversion to DNG.
Adobe DNG converter is known not to store all the raw data read off the sensor for some cameras during the conversion
    for example : http://forums.adobe.com/message/1210138#1210138
says Gabor Shorr (author of Rawnalyze)  : "...Anyway, back to the "lost data": the DNG converter cuts off the masked  pixels from the K10 and K200 raw data (the Starist and the K100 do not  record masked pixels; I don't know the others). These pixels are at the  edge of the recorded image area, in these cases at the right and bottom  edge. That's how the data looks if these strips are not cut off:
    http://www.panopeeper.com/Demo/MaskedPixels_PentaxK10_ISO100_a.GIF  ;
    and up-close, with extreme contrast:
    http://www.panopeeper.com/Demo/MaskedPixels_PentaxK10_ISO100_b.GIF  ; ..."
The same was confirmed for example for Pentax K20D and some Nikon cameras too...
so you can never be sure what Adobe DNG converter does and does not
you might ask if that data is important... well sometimes it is - http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1036&message=34272518
"...they aren't completely useless as one can do several different things  with them, as follows:
    1)  Use them to measure and back out Wide Band Vertical Patterns in the  K10D and K20D.
    2)  Use them to tweak out the magenta to green tingeing from left to  right that the K10D has at high ISO's or for highly boosted as to  exposure and contrast images.
    3)  Use them to eliminate the border tingeing of the K20D that occurs in  the same cases as the tingeing of the K10D above as is done using my  Raw Border Correction (RBC) utility for the K20D.
    4)  Use them to measure and eliminate from the raw data the "Thin Green  Line" problem of the K-7 for some camera samples when the sensor got  warm had it not been fixed with a firmware update from Pentax.
    5)  Possibly use them to determine a different method of black level  compensation for the K-x if necessary if conventional raw conversion  methods produce any Horizontal Pattern Noise (HPN).
    Not entirely useless
    Regards, GordonBGood..."
but Big Brother (that 'd be mr Knoll no less) thinks on your behalf what is useful and what is not...
    so read below
So is it safe to store only the DNG file for the
archive or should the original X3F raw data be embedded also in the
    converted DNG file?
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/1210133#1210133
says Eric Chan of ACR team  : "...for archival purposes I recommend (and practice) safely storing the  original raw files in the form that they came off the camera, whether  they be DNG or non-DNG..."

  • Please Apple! Bring Sigma RAW support!

Not sure how to make you listen, but I know it can't be too hard for you. The SD series is getting bigger. The SD14 is out and now the DP1 is on it's way. Please give us RAW support!
Today we're forced to use Adobe Lightroom or Sigmas own RAW developer but we love Your software. Let us too be able to join the fun!
    The crowd is getting bigger.

At PMA I and another Sigma user ran into a few Apple guys at the Sigma booth - one of them was from the OS imaging division (basically the guys that work on the RAW conversion aspect of OS X).
They seemed pretty impressed by the print they were looking at - we talked to them a bit about the camera and suggested they should contact Foveon who would be more than willing to help them out. They seemed to be receptive to this idea, though he did say that at the moment the OS X code was heavily optimized to processing bayer images. It does seem like they will take another look at the idea of support now that the new camera is out.
My hope was always that some time this year they would add support for the SD-14, now that the more popular cameras are well covered...
If Joe Schor is still reading these forums, please pass along our desire to see a SD-14/DP-1 RAW image support - Foveon can help, and it would make life easier for a lot of us!

  • Please help. ive bought a second hand ipod nano, when i connect it to my  pc it recognises it as a sigma mass usb device, yet its a 8gb ipod nano, and i tunes does not recognise it, im running on windows vista basic yet my own 80g classic ipod runs perfect

please help. ive bought a second hand ipod nano, when i connect it to my pc, it does not recognise it in itunes, yet it comes up as a sigma mass usb device. its an ipod nano 8gb?. im running on windows vista,my own ipod classic runs fine.

there is a good chance that this can be related to bad contact in USB lead.. e.g not enough power from IPOD to PC so that pc cannot recognise it. Where I work I get alot of USB devices on pc's that are not recognised and most of the time it is the connection to the device that is not good enough because the flat end of the USB adapter has been gradually bent over time just slightly and now contact is not good. It can also be todo with drivers or If you are using it through a USB hub.
so if it is not working through USB hub try direct. also try in back of PC as these Ports or direct access to main board to pc and would be less trouble some if there was a voltage loss from mainboard in pc to front of unit.

  • Lack of features in S40 DP1.0 series

    Hi
I've two phone of these series and it's new features are amazing..like
    1-text conversation
    2-camera quality
    3-image editing features
    4-dual sim swap option
    but lack of features of S40 5th edition's 5130, 7210 phone.
    that is
1-No option in messaging for "MY FOLDER" and to delete msgs by marking.
2- No option in music player to create playlist and add songs in it like S40 5th edition.
3- No backup of created playlist while we change Memory card.
4- No automatically creation of playlist while we play songs from a folder like S40 5th Ed.
In S40 DP1.0 plays the single song which we select to play.
Now i'm using X2-02 and C2-03 both have same features. But without above mentioned features i feel new are worthless, so it's my heartly request to Nokia that please update above features in S40 DP1.0 series.
    Thank you

Yes Pandit ,Nokia x2-02 lacks many useful features that earlier Nokia phone had .Music player is not able mark files so making playlist is not easy .Nokia 5130 was capable of going to music player through sd card and making playlist is not necessary. It create a playlist automatically and plays the songs in the folder of sd card. Nokia is running backwards with their technology and that is why they fails in the market. They are busy with making of new devices but we are the customers who decide which phone to buy.I think after sale service! is the key stone of success of a company. Sure You fails in this section. Make new device and concentrate only on it Nokia ,we were the customers who bought nokia phones one after another ...we have just stopped the practice as my x2-02 lacks basis music features and there is not update to fix it .I was planning to switch nokia asha series for my sister and myself to lumia device. But now i think if i buy i will never get proper service as you will be busy with your making of flagship useless devices.Yes ,their fate will be same to me.If my x2-02 issue not fix I will never buy a nokia device for me and my family members and will try to prevent my friend from buying your device I was a fan of nokia but I have to switch other company who takes priority to care of their customers more than producing new devices.
    Thank You
