Fill that field in fieldcatlog internal table as following:
fieldcat-no_sign = 'X'.
no_sign (no +/- sign)
Value range: SPACE, 'X'
Only relevant to value fields
'X' = Value output without +/- signs.

  • Power Mac G5 Showing Prohibitory Sign on Start Up?

Earlier this week my Power Mac G5 1.8 ghz dual started to show a prohibitory sign on start up. The hard drive was original to the machine (from 2004) and I wanted to upgrade it to a larger size anyhow, so I put in a new hard drive thinking that might solve the problem and give me an upgrade at the same time.
After I installed the new hard drive, I formatted it and did a restore from Time Machine of my system. When I restarted, I got the prohibitory sign again. I restarted holding down the option key to see if it found the new drive and it did. So I selected the new drive and it started up from the new drive with my restored system on it with no problem. Then I went to system preferences and made sure the new hard drive was selected as my start up disk. On restart, I got the prohibitory sign again.
Then the weirdness started. On subsequent restarts, I get the prohibitory sign intermitently whether I'm starting from the hard drive, my Leopard installation DVD, my Disk Warrior boot disk, or my old Panther installation disk. It seems to boot without any problem from the Apple Hardware test CD. I've run the extended apple hardware test and it didn't find any problems. Most of the time, I get a prohibitory sign no matter how I'm trying to boot up, but sometimes it will boot from the Leopard installation disk or the hard drive, but when it does, it freezes after running for a few minutes. I've tried swapping out the memory sticks and it's made no difference.
Is it possible this is a software problem and not a problem with the motherboard or other hardware? I sure hope so, because I love this machine. Anyone have any suggestions about what I might try next? I've read about the "hair dryer" solution, but if Apple Hardware Test didn't find any probemms with the memory or motherboard, could that still be a solution?
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Thanks, japamac. Yep, I should have said I replaced the old hard drive with the new one. So, it now only has the one, new fresh hard drive. The new drive is a WD Caviar Blue 320gb.
I set the jumpers on the new drive for 5-6 to slow the new drive down to 1.5. I've also tried resetting the PRAM several times, and tried restarting in safe mode. Every few tries I can get it to boot from the hard drive or a boot DVD/CD (maybe once every 10 tries), but it freezes up after running for about 10 minutes. The only instance this doesn't happen is if I boot with the Apple Hardware Test CD. It didn't freeze up during the 2 hours it took to run the extended test.
Thanks for trying to help me.

  • Macbook pro crashing and now no entry sign on start up.

Please help!  I have a macbook pro with snow leapord, 2 years and no problems.  Since yesterday it has been crashing with sbbod and now I am just getting a no entry sign on start up and getting no further?  What do do???

You must back up first, if it's still possible, before you do anything else.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to fully boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
    1. Boot into Recovery (command-R at startup; 10.7 or later), from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup; 10.7.2 or later), or from your installation disc (C key at startup; 10.6.8 or earlier.) Launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in the support article linked below, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
How to back up and restore your files
    2. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode by holding down the key combination command-T at the startup chime. Connect the two Macs with a FireWire or Thunderbolt cable. The internal drive of the machine running in target mode will mount as an external drive on the other machine. Copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
How to use and troubleshoot FireWire target disk mode
    3. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.

  • Prohibited sign on start up and error when trying to re-install os x maverick. Help?

So I get the prohibited sign on start up, and i tried using the command-option-p-r and os x utilities popped up. I checked if any of my disks needed repairing and all of them were fine. But whenever I try to re-install os x mavericks an error would come up saying that I need to restart the application.
    Help anyone?

This is what I would try:
Since a 2008 MBP came with Leopard (10.5) and to install Lion (10.7)  or later requires a Snow Leopard disk (10.6), I would use one of those disks.  Again check the status of the HDD with Disk Utility>First Aid using the disk and install an OSX.  You will then have to download the Snow Leopard combo update (10.6.8).
    https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399?locale=en_US
You will have to erase the disk so have your data backed up,  Once you have established that you have a working OSX installed, then I would download Mavericks.
If you cannot install an OSX with the disks then there is a hardware problem and a trip to an Apple store genius bar will be the best option.  The evaluation will be FREE.
    Ciao.

  • User cannot see the "-" signs on amounts in ALV report

    Hi all,
We have a problem with a user, who cannot see the signs on the amounts in an ALV report:
    <a href="http://img66.imageshack.us/img66/1424/nataliabr9.jpg">Report without signs</a>
The user has tested this report with his user, and another test user, on his computer and on another computer. It does not change anything, he cannot see the signs "-" on the amounts.
But when I launch the same report on the same client, I cann see the signs:
    <a href="http://img398.imageshack.us/img398/1203/moigl3.jpg">Report with signs</a>
So, I think it does not come from his user (he has tested with two different users), or from his computer (he has tested on two different computers).
    Do you have any ideas?
    Thanks for your help.

Having seen and "played" with an NB100-12a the other day I must agree that the grey letters on black keys
aren't a clever idea - its bad enough that the keys are so small also.
I currently own a satellite Pro with which I am very happy ( apart from the inclusion of Windows Vista which I
don't particularily like ) and found this machine easy to "drive" BUT due to the keyboard size and lettering
I won't be buying one ( unless they do a redesign - an acer aspire one keyboard and touchpad or NC10 style
design ) and I think that the price of these machines has recently dropped from approx £300 to approx £270
due to poor take up by the public mainly for the above reasons.
Sorry Toshiba looks like i'll be buying an NC10 - unless I hear of a possible redesign.#

  • How to display -ve sign before amount in ALV grid

    Hi,
I want to display -ve numbers in an ALV grid. But the sign always appear at the end of the number. Is there any option with which I can display -ve sign before the number.
    Regards,
    Deepti

    Hi,
<b>You can refer to below threads:</b>
ALV - negative sign in the front
Prefix Negative sign in type P field in an ALV report
    Or
USe Function Module <b>CLOI_PUT_SIGN_IN_FRONT</b>, may be this works in your case.

  • Satellite A300: Only one fingerprint sign at start up but two user accounts

    Hi
I have a Toshiba Satellite A300 Laptop which has the TrueSuite Access Manager software installed.
There are two accounts on the computer but I have been unable to work out how to get the two accounts to appear on the sign on screen, so that whoever wants to use their account can pick the correct sign on.
Currently there is only one fingerprint sign on appears at start up.
In order to get into the second account I have to click on "Switch user" and sign in with the password.
I feel certain that I should be able to set it up so that the choice of which account to sign on to is available at the beginning.
Could someone help me to sort this one out?
    Thanks very much...

    Hello
Maybe you must register the fingerprints with the second account too?
Im not an expert with the fingerprint software but maybe you must reinstall it?! Remove the old version, reboot the notebook, use CCleaner and install the new version.
Check the Toshiba website for an update:

  • Screen has lines through it after start up then grey sign states start up

I press the power button, the screen comes on with the apple logo and the scroll starts the screen the has many lines the grey sign comes on and says to start computer again and then the same thing happens

    Hi mate,
that whole story sounds really weirdo since after reading all this and knowing that youve tried almost everything doesnt makes it better.. :/
Usually I would say: update your BIOS, but you already updated everything. This problem could be BIOS related since the initialization of the hardware after a standby is controlled by the chipset trough the BIOS.
I guess it could also be something with the background light of the LCD screen (failed initialization after waking up), you can check this by reproducing the situation with the black screen and holding some light near the screen. If you can see some schemes on the screen (something like desktop, etc..) then it could be the background lighting. In such case try to reinstall the operating system and update all installed drivers to the newest version (yes I know, sounds like more pain).
Otherwise, click [HERE|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/generic_content.jsp?service=EU&ID=ASP_SUPPORT], find the nearest authorized service partner in your country, contact them and ask them for a hardwarecheckup. Maybe its really a hardware related issue..

  • How to hide the negative sign while displayed in ALV

    Hi,
I am having a field for 'Price' for which i need the negative sign to do the sum (i.e. futher calculation) but i dont want to display the negative sign which is with 'Price' field in the output screen.
I tried with the attribute no_sign = 'X' in the field catalogue, but still the negative sign was getting displayed in the output.

    Thanks in Advanced.
    Regards,
    Darshana

    Hi Darshana,
Before displaying the ALV , check what is the value of that particulat field (in a loop ) and if it is less than 0 , make it positive.
    CALACULATION part
    LOOP AT itab into wa.
      IF wa-val1 < 0 .
        wa-val1 = wa-val1 * -1 .
MODIFY itab from wa INDEX sy-tabix .
      ENDIF.
    ENDLOOP.
Then build the field catalogue and finally display the ALV .
    Thanks

  • Prohibited Sign at start up - with a twist?

I notice lots of people are having the blinky folder/the prohibited sign @ start up.
    Well so am I.
Ive followed the guides and Ive hit a snag.
I don't have MY mac OS X cd.
My roommate has it - but his cds are for leopard and mine mac book is Tiger. Is there any way I can fix this using those cds? or does anyone know if Apple will send me a new cd?
I have term papers due this week... so I'm panicking.
    Thanks

That is not good, but possibly not fatal either.
Do you have a backup of all the important data on the hard drive? If so, continue, but if you don't you are going to need to look at data recovery, a much more difficult and potentially expensive operation.
Okay, assuming that your backup is complete, you are going to need to obtain either the disks that came with your computer, or purchase a retail version of OS X that is later than what came with your computer. This is in order to remain within the requirements imposed by the licensing agreement that comes with the Mac OS. If you can't get the original disks, contact Apple, let them know what kind of computer you have and ask for replacement disks. There is likely to be a small charge but not nearly as much as buying a new OS set.
Alternatively, you can purchase Leopard and use those disks. More expensive, but very likely much quicker.
    * NOTE: If you continue from here, the next steps will certainly erase the data on your hard drive and place ONLY a fresh install of the OS on your drive! I mean it - everything will be gone! *
Boot the computer from the disk set that you have and again open Disk Utility. Select the physical drive this time (not the volume) and go to the Erase tab. Erase the disk.
Now do a Repair Disk again. Are there still errors? If no (most likely) then go ahead and reinstall the things that come on the disk set you have. Note that if it is the OS X 10.5 Leopard disk set, you will not get back a bunch of applications such as iMovie, iDVD, Garage Band, etc.
If there are still errors after erasing the disk, then you do indeed have a dead hard drive.

  • MacBook Pro Start Up issues Mach Kernel/No-entry sign/then starts but slow

    Hi,
I posted a question last night in the wrong forum. Someone was kind enough to tell me this morning. Here is a copy of my second question. Please, if I'm in the wrong forum again, could someone tell me which forum to post the question?
MacBook has been running slow the past couple of days. Yesterday, it wouldn't start-up, and after resetting the PRAM, I got the no-entry sign (barred circle).
Restarting with V: I got an mach kernel error. Found a help sheet on that, but when trying to restart with X, got only as far as the blue screen.
This morning, it started up, very slow. I then tried to backup my files, with no success. Tried to burn to a dvd, but that was unsuccessful.
Tried to restart using it in target disc mode, but on my good macbook, although the slave computer appears, I couldn't access any data ("alias can't be found")
I've tried restarting from a bootable disc. It gets past the apple, the gears, then I can just hear the dvd drive spinning and eventually, I force quit. So restarting from a bootable disc seems out.
For a while, it would startup, but aside from the hard drive icon, the file (pdf, doc, and jpg) icons on my desktop wouldn't change from generic to specific and the rainbow wheel just kept spinning and spinning. I finally forced quit.
Here is the message I posted last night:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2015687&tstart=0

I also now have my friends original Leopard discs (the ones that came with his MacBook not the off the shelf package)- will the disc utility from those work?
    Yes.
Worst case scenario I'm facing an (archive and) install either from my Tiger discs or more likely buying Leopard off the shelf and using that?
Not from your Tiger discs, only Leopard will do - either a machine specific disc for your Mac or a full retail version. If you use Tiger you'll have to wipe install back to Tiger! It can't be a simple 'archive & install'... because Leopard blows away the NetInfo database... and Tiger installers were never designed to know how to handle that. So all user accounts will need to be recreated anyway
    - There's nothing a shop could help with?
I don't believe so. They'll only do what I've suggested anyway. The shop would only become relevant if it turns out to be a hardware problem.
