Sign Change in FDM

As per my outline, expense is being subtracted from income.
But the data loaded through FDM already has a negative sign with all expenses, which causes the expenses to be added in income during data load.
As I am a new user of FDM, please tell me the way through which I can reverse the signs of the specified accounts in FDM to resolve this issue?

In your account mapping screen you have a check box on each mapping line which allows you to reverse the sign on a line by line basis.

Finally, it is not posible to change the sign in FSV for S_ARL_87012284 report, but note 1842450 - Financial statement version +/- sign change in S_ARL_87012284 , proposes use the corresponding drill down reporting tool ( (e.g. in classic G/L: S_ALR_87012249, in new G/L: S_PL0_86000028).

• £ signs change to ? in text fields

When I update data held in text type fields in an SQL 2005 table from textareas in dreamweaver '£' signs get converted to '?'.
This is part of a system allowing users to enter paragraphs of text to build up into letters fro printing direct from the browser.
e.g. "A surcharge of £350 is to be applied." will be changed to "A surcharge of ?350 is to be applied."
Both the PC I am using and the SQL server have their regional settings set to United Kingdom.
I added culture="en-GB" to the page line as follows:
<%@ Page Language="VB" ContentType="text/html" ResponseEncoding="iso-8859-1" culture="en-GB" %>
This has had the effect of changing the default currency format to use £s but this does not solve the problem with £ signs inside a text field.

I don't know much about ASP, but the £ signs being displayed as ? is an encoding issue. Your encoding is iso-8859-1, which doesn't support the £ sign. You probably need to switch to utf-8 and make sure that the insert forms and database also use the same encoding.

• Sign change in report

Hi
In a report I have a key figure (Total spend) “Amount”, my requirement is irrespective of the sign (+ve /-ve) of the value, I want to display all the vales as +ve. How can I achieve this? Please advice.
Thanks a lot
Sheetal
In The querythe field(Total spend) i have +ve as well as - ve sign values .In the Query i went to Total spent key figure properties and selected the check box for reverse +,- sign all the values got reversed, like + ve became -ne and -ve became +ve but my requirement is I want all values to be positive or all negative. Please advice how to go about this
Thanks a lot
Sheetal

Hi Sheetal,
You can remove the sign either positive or negative in query properties. Or else if you want to show one sign either negative or positive then you have to write a Macro to chenge the sign of +ve to -ve or vice versa, and activate it before running the query.
Hope it helps,
Sunil.

• Sign changing to - when converted from BSO to ASO

HI Guys ,
when I change ab BSO app to an ASO the default + operator is changing to - ,how do I deal with this problem .
Thanks

Hi,
We experienced the same problem with Essbase 9.3.1.2.
The workaround we used was to use the outline extractor on both the BSO and ASO outlines and then compare the text files to catch the differences and manually fix them. It took some time but we got the outlines in sync.
Outline extractor is a freeware from Applied OLAP http://www.appliedolap.com/default.asp?ID=22

• My Macbook turns on to a white screen then the apple sign changes

My MacBook started slowing down, so I turned it off to try and fix it and it went to a white scree for 5 minutes then the apple came up... I waited nothing changed then goes back to a black screen and I do it over again. Any one know how I can fix this? help would be greatly apriciated?

That folder with the question mark icon means that the MacBook can't find the boot directory. That can either mean it can't find the hard drive or the hard drive data is somehow corrupted.
Put your install DVD into the optical drive and reboot. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That willforce your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
Once it has finished booting and you Choose Your Language and you are at the Install screen launch Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is then select the First Aid Tab run Repair Disk and if that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions.
If your hard drive isn’t recognized in Disk Utility then your hard drive is probably dead.

• Change of sign when running the data management package

Hi All,
I have written a script logic for copying my Budget member under category dimension to say another member say "XYZ" under category dimension and this is for my Member Sales under ACcount dimension having acctype as inc.
When i run the logic thru default i am getting the correct value. however if i run the same thru data manager package- my sign changes.
Eg. 100000 is copied as -100000 and -50000 is copied as 50000.
Please help me out
Regards
Navin

Hi Navin,
CREDITPOSITIVE= YES | NO
Default: YES
If No, all amounts referring to an ACCOUNT type (LEQ, INC) will have their signs reversed.
Since you are referring to the member account sales as INC the default logic considers the sign as reversed.
Please look at this link which helps you to understand
Significance of Account Type EXP,LEQ,INC,AST in BPC- Need some valid reason
Hope this helps.

• Sign of data changes from DEV to QA

Hello,
I have a script that posting huge number of records. the script has no issues. All the records posted are oK in QA but in DEV all the signs change(positive, negative). Please advise.
Thanks.

The whole logic is about 300-400 lines. But here is the part that actually creates the records. Also keep in mind that it works fine in QA and production. so it probably has something to do with Appet measures or database settings?

• Multiple users signing the pdf form

I have date fields in the pdf form in which the signed date is inserted when each user signs the form. Although the Digital Signature property in pdf provides date property on the signature image. But we have a business requirement to show date field separately on pdf form. Suppose User1 signs the application and the date is inserted in its corresponding date field. But when User2 signs the application and the date is inserted the signatures of User1 gets invalidated.
Is there any way by which pdf field can be made editable even after one user signs the application?

PDF supports multiple signatures on a single form or document. When using a form, you can use field collections to associate specific fields to a certain signature and lock those fields after signing, while leaving other fields accessible. There are many posts throughout this forum that discusss this functionality, here is one... http://forums.adobe.com/thread/769340
As for signature status, applying a second signature (or more) after a form or document has been signed will NOT invalidate the original signature, however it will change the status of the original signature to something like "Valid with signed changes". Each subsequent signature will change the status of the previous signature, but this is not the same as invalidating a signature.
This behaviour is by design as a signature applied to a PDF signs the entire byte range of the PDF, not just a portion of it.

• Update 9.1.2 breaks digital signing documents in Adobe 9 Pro on Windows XP

I am able to digitally sign documents using an Aladdin eToken Pro 64k with a fresh copy of Adobe 9 Pro for Windows. However when I update to version 9.1.2 digital signing fails with an "error encountered while BER decoding". Signing still works on Vista and Adobe 9.1.2 Pro. I've checked to make sure none of the settings relating to digital signing changed during the update and none have. Anyone have any ideas on how to correct the problem?

Hi Nick,
First up, there was a small error in my previous post. I said the version of Acrobat (and whenever I say Acrobat I really mean both Acrobat and Reader, but I'm too lazy to type both) that was modified to fix the bug in SHA-1 fallback was 9.1.3, but I really meant 9.3. Sorry about that.
I saw your post from yesterday (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/563601) where you broached the BER decoding error, but in the post above you said signature creation isn't failing any more, so hopefully some update has fixed the problem.
Here's a little bit about the BER Decoding error. During the signing process Acrobat writes the entire file to disk (which is why you always get the Save As dialog as part of the signing process) in the signed state with everything but the actual signature. However, it does leave a hole in the file where the BER encoded cryptographic data will reside once it's be computed and formatted. One thing that is created before the actual signature is the signature appearance. The signature appearance in the form field isn't really the signature proper, but just a graphic representation of the actual signature. The reason that the signature appearance is written to disk before the signature is created is because it too is part of the signed data and must exist before the actual signature is created.
In a perfect world, after the file is written to disk, the cryptographic signature is created and written into the hole in the PDF file, and the signing process completes without any problem. However, if we get to the point that the file has been written out, but during the actual signature creation the process fails, that hole I mentioned isn't filled in. It's not really a hole per se, but a block of zeros that act as a placeholder for the BER encoded data. Because there was some sort of failure and Acrobat didn't get the signed data back from the hardware device what you end up with is a PDF file with a signature appearance, but no real signature in the file. When you click on the signature field Acrobat tries to validate the actual signature, it finds the block of zeros where the signed data was supposed to be, it tries to decode the zeros and gets (as you might well imagine) nothing back and displays the BER Decoding error.
Let leaves us with why didn't Acrobat get the signed data back. When using hardware devices, such as tokens or smart cards, the actual cryptographic signing (the encryption of of the digest with the users private key) takes place on the device. Acrobat (nor any other application) doesn't have access to the private key, which is what makes hardware devices more secure. It's up to the device to sign the data and send it back. If there is any kind of breakdown in that communication channel (which I mentioned in my previous post) the signature creation doesn't reach fruition and you're left with an unsigned file that looks like it was signed because there is a signature appearance.
This is a case where we are providing technically correct, and utterly useless information. It's true that we can't decode a bunch of zeros, but what we should be telling the user is there is no signature (it's kind of like the Matrix where there is no spoon ).
I hope this helps explain what you're seeing. If the the signing process breaks down again please make sure you are using the latest version of Acrobat/Reader and the token software is up-to-date. If everything is current and the problem returns please let me know.

• Disk Permissions changed after connecting mac via firewire on Target Disk Mode.

I have connected 2 macbook pros using firewire in target disk mode and the permissions on the destination macbook pro have changed. Now when I try to start the macbook pro, it stays on the grey screen and the apple sign changes to a prohibitory sign, therefore I cant log in.
Please help!
Thanks

I am unable to perform a safe boot, it simply wont happen.
I tried to start from mac osx install disk and that works so I am able to go disk utility, I can run 'verify disk' and 'repair disk' and it shows that everything is ok, however, I cant 'verify disk permissions' or 'repair disk permissions' as both are greyed out because 'the selected disk is not mounted'. I try mounting but that wont work either, I am told to 'disk can not be mounted, run first aid first and then retry'.
Furthermore, I try to perform 'archive and install' so I follow these instructions:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1710
But on number 7, intead of being able to choose volume to install to, there is nothing I can choose! There is no list. And of course I cant continue.
Any help is appreciated!

• How to reverse sign +/- in FI statement

Hi Guru
I create P&L report on t.code OB58 and I want to reverse sign on output report such as the Revenue is generally displayed in the general ledger as a negative number but I want display the sales are displayed as a positive number ,I try use +/- sign change indicator but not effect . How I can do?
thanks very much
methinee.s

Hello,
Sales figures in FI will be shown in Negative values (except credit memos) and positive in SD.
This is standard, this cannot be changed.
+/- (Debit and Credit Check box) symbol in OB58 is having different meaning.
If you select this box, the system will display the account under this financial statement item if it has a debit balance / credit balance.

• - minus signs appearing in Query

Hi
Certain key figures get minus signs in front of them in one of our queries. When the data is browsed in the Infocube / ODS, there is no minus sign.
We have checked the +/- symbol in 'sign change' for the key figures in Bex but no matter what setting I choose, I still get the minus sign displayed.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Conor

Hi,
edit the query properties. Goto Tab Page: Value Display.
Display of +/- Signs
Here you specify how the minus sign is displayed. The following display options are available for negative values:
● Before the Number -123.45: The minus sign is positioned before the value (default setting).
● After the Number 123.45-: The minus sign is positioned after the value.
● In Parentheses (123.45): Negative values are displayed in parentheses.
