Sign in problems on some Skype phones

We've recently received some reports of some users having trouble to sign in on their Skype hardware phones (GE 31591 and similar). The phone will not accept a prefectly valid login that works fine when used elsewhere (e.g. on desktop Skype clients or the Skype web account page) with the error "Failed to synchronize with CBL".
UPDATE (21.08.2012): As a temporary workaround please login to your web profile page and enter date of birth and gender information there.
We are looking into this and are confident to provide a fix soon.

My dual phone will not connect to the network. It just sits there forever saying "signing in" but it never does. Skype on the computer is fine. My handset is completely fubar. I've tried rebooting, repowering the unit, and reconnectiing the network. Nothing works. I paid over a 100 bucks for this piece of **bleep**.   • Problem Renewing my Skype Phone number

    I  just got an email from SKYPE saying my Skype Number is going to expire on June 11th and gave me a link to sign into my account.   But once I get there ther is no way to renew my Skype Number.  My only option is to create a New Skype Number.   I DONT WANT A NEW SKYPE N UMBER, I WANT TO RENEW MY CURRENT SKYPE Number.
     On my Skype account page I am also told that my Skype Number has been CANCELLED.   I did not cancel my Skype number.  Who the hell did?      Further, I am told that my PREMIUM account has been CANCELLED, I did not cancel my premium account.   I purchased it in Nov 2012 for a year,   So who the hell is cancelling my accounts and why?  
    I tried to use the Skype customer support Chat  to talk to someone. but that does not seem to be working,
    So how the hell do I contact a real person at Skype to get these problem fixed?

    OK, I've just been on chat for an hour and a quarter and the problem has finally been resolved. It was caused by me changing my payment method back in Sept last year (new credit card). Somehow Skype thought this meant that the number should be "cancelled". 
    I don't know what the rep did to fix it, but it is not something you can do yourself - so you'll have to get on the chat server. It shouldn't take that long, but the rep didn't seem to believe me. I was talked through the basic renewal procedure, told to try other browsers, and finally asked for screen shots to prove that my problem was what I said it was.

    I watch YouTube videos on a regular basis - mostly with the YouTube app but also with Safari.
    Some YouTube videos are supported to be viewed on a computer only or with a Flash capable device, which is becoming few and far between since Adobe no longer supports Flash on any mobile platform.
    Sometimes I get this video cannot be played on this platform, but rarely.

I don't have a credit card nor do they gove debit cards to foreigners here, or at least it's really hard so I'm using my bank at home and still have a debit there. My phone number is 8 numbers plus the country code which is strange! Another thing is I was given a phone email that I was told to use for texting but I'm not sure how that works!! It's so frustrating too because no one speaks English here and I'm not very tech savvy. God bless you if you can help :)

    whichever app store you are connecting to, hyou need a credit card with an address in that country. Also, itunes gift cards must be in local currency too.

    If you believe there is a hardware problem, call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby.

    Skype phone (JAHT JSP-101G) doesnt work with new Skype versions, why?
    For example with version 2.5.0.146 everything is fine, but with 5.x versions microphone doesnt work

    While you might find an exception to the rule, standalone phones and other similar devices do not support Microsoft accounts either as a method of login or as a speed dial contact.  If your account originally had a traditional Skype ID prior to being migrated then you may be able to sign in with that ID. on the phone. If it was always a Microsoft or similar account then it will not work.  You would have to create a new account that is not a Microsoft/other account.  Your best bet is to contact Skype customer service and inquire about transferring you existing subscriptions to a secondary account, unless they have an option of appending a traditional id on the existing account (which is less likely).

    Hi all, i have meet this problem where my skype cannot login showing either 'Something went wrong' OR 'Sorry we didnt recognize ypur sign-in details.     What exactly is the version of Skype installed on your computer? In Skype go to Help -> About Skype.
    What version of Windows are you on (XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 )? Is it 32-bit or 64-bit?

    P.S. Please, don’t say that you are not using Internet Explorer. This is irrelevant. Skype depends on Internet Explorer.

    I am using Skype 3.2.06673 in android. Its install successfully. When i try to sign in software show the message "You cannot be signed in at this time. Please check your mobile network settings." but when i try to sign with latest version of Skype its open. for your kind information i want to continue with Skype 3.2.06673.

    Yes, and I also removed expired certificates as suggested elsewhere. Still no positive result.

    I am have the Sype Dualphone 3088 and I use it in Sri Lanka. It worked fine for almost two years now. Sorry to inform that my skype phone (DUALphone 308 had been out of order for the last three days, simply the login does not go through. Should appriciate if you could look in to this matter urgently. Thanks Dinesh

    The user with the Skype number 661-748-0240 has been reported by MANY people to be engaging in harassment and phishing (i.e. claiming to be Microsoft technical support).

    I think it goes without saying that this user should be permanently banned. I'm pretty sure this isn't the right way to report a user, but I couldn't find a way to contact Skype privately or report a user on the website.

  • Skype phone numbers; what do I get for what I pay?

    Hey all, first time user here so please bear with me.
    I'm ditching my home phone and getting a Skype phone instead.
    My plan is to get a 12-month unlimited plan for Canada and the US, and a Skype Phone Number.
    Problem is, I'm not sure if I can get a Canadian number.
    If I *CAN* get a Canadian number, I need to know if I automatically get one when I sign up for a 12-month unlimited plan.
    Finally, I need to know if I can log in to any Skype-supported device and use this unlimited plan, be it on a computer, mobile phone, iPad or game console.

    2. You can make calls from a computer or Skype compliant phone using either a Skype Call Plan or Skype Credit.

    UPDATE 2 (20.09.2012): We've fixed the sign in issue via an update on our end. If you are still facing sign in problems on your TV, please create a new message.

  • GE 31591 Skype Phone cannot make SkypeOut calls to...

    I just purchased a GE 31591 Skype Phone. I also have a SkypeIn number and have SkypeOut. I am signed into my (only) Skype Account on my computer, the GE Skype Phone, and an Ipevo Skype wifi phone. When I dial my cell number, or any other landline and select SkypeOut Call, the screen immediately shows "Call Duration 00:00" and goes back to the main screen. I KNOW I can make SkypeOut calls to landlines because using my Ipevo Skype Phone and Skype on my computer to dial the numbers works perfectly. What's going on?
    Also, is there no way to reduce the amount of rings on the GE 31591 phone to four rings so that it will forward to my mobile number quicker?

    Add me to the list of people who are having this problem. I can make calls from my CPU and Android phone's Skype app but not on my new GE phone. I get the exact same thing as the people above me.
    It will actually call landline numbers of the contacts I have on my contact list but not a number I dial manually.
    Also, when I log in to my account I can see the numbers I am trying to call on my recently dialed list.
    I have updated the software on the phone, set the time and date and made sure i set my country to USA.
    Any help? I don't feel like paying per minute when I already have an active subscription.

    I just found out that “Skype Phone” and “Online Numbers" are the same thing. I was not told that when I signed up, I was told I needed both? I have been charged for both for the last two years?
    I would like to be reimbursed, even if it is prorated for some reason?

  • Skype phone number - auto renew?

    Some months ago, I bought a Skype phone number.
    I've never used it and don't want it to renew.
    I paid for the phone nuimber for a year via paypal. I don't want it to auto-renew. Is their any way to check to see if it's set to auto-renew, or how do I make sure they don't renew it?

    you need to CANCEL the Skype Number in your account, otherwise it will automatically renew using the same payment method as before
    sign in to your account at www.skype.com, and click on the Skype Number tile
    then, on the next screen, click on Settings under your Skype Number
    finally click on Cancel Skype Number
